421  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum: send transactions status Unconfirmed after 12 hours on: January 07, 2024, 04:49:36 PM
I purposely set it to the lowest possible because the actual amount is under $1, so there is no point in paying ~$20 to speed them up. These are my initial test transactions before I sweep the wallet and send entire balance to the receiving wallet.
What does it mean if I use Remove?
- will it cancel the transaction and reset the balances in both wallets to the pre-transaction value? If Remove is not the same as cancel, how do I cancel?

As explained above, removing the local transaction will make the balance reappear and there won't be a trace of the transaction under electrum history. So by removing you can able to spend the amount with the higher fee but if the amount you are sending is less than the fee then consider it as dust and don't bother moving it.

Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?

10 Million, I guess is enough for me. Cheesy

I haven't really known anyone who retired from their job after winning some pretty big money in all these years and I only witnessed this kind of scenario from the news articles which means it happens very rarely. And I am certainly not lucky enough to be on that side.
423  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum: send transactions status Unconfirmed after 12 hours on: January 07, 2024, 01:49:08 PM
I sent a small amount of BTC between my two Electrum wallets. After almost 12 hours the transactions status is still Unconfirmed in both wallets.
From Wallet:
Unconfirmed [1.5 sat/b, 503.19 MB]
Unconfirmed [1. sat/b, 503.39 MB]
To Wallet:
Unconfirmed [1.5 sat/b, 503.39 MB]
Unconfirmed [1. sat/b, 503.39 MB]
You can't really broadcast a transaction with 1.5sat/b with the current network congestion because most of the electrum servers will reject the TX and probably you will get an error like this.

The server returned an error when broadcasting the transaction. Consider trying to connect to a different server, or updating Electrum. insufficient fee

I don't think this is normal. How do I get this resolved?
thanks

Use the bump fee feature and set the fee over 30sat/vbyte for your transaction to get included in the next block.

Judging by the fact that this changed suddenly, it looks like there's only one person (or one group of people) behind all Ordinal spam!
Most likely, they kept pushing these spam tokens really hard so that people would really think it has a future to grow further and then suddenly pulled the plug?

The price of ORDI is on the decline for the last few days and now whoever is holding those tokens are the people now spending a sensible amount as a fee.
425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Use your winning responsibly on: January 06, 2024, 02:39:24 PM
You think buying bigger hi res TV as a responsible way of spending?

I see spending money items that we use for entertainment to be irresponsible but that's my opinion and your money you have the way of spending it. But ask again, you are going to make your life better if you see big pictures in a TV or if you invest on something that may give you returns later. Smiley
426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 06, 2024, 12:18:38 PM

Demo is different from the actualy game because it is an ideal situation and do not factor in some parameters. The real game surely be design against the player because the company must make profit to remain in business. If demo is as difficult as the real game, you might be scared to try the real game. Most games are designed this way with just few Exceptions. I think this is why people believe that live games are easier to win because they present a level playing field.

I don't think so, and if its designed in that way then they are deceiving the users and the casino should not be trusted in my opinion.

All I can say its just the difference when we use fake money to bet on demo games and real money in actual games cause the bet amount determines the duration of out game play and longer we play with lesser risk then winning once in a while is inevitable but with this strategy, we never gonna make enough to cover the lost bets and that is when the real challenge kicks in, high-risk high reward.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 06, 2024, 10:37:45 AM

When I need a win I’ll check out Plinko. Move the odds to the best possible and the most amount or rows… You can gamble all day and barely make or lose anything. Not very productive, especially with smaller amounts, but if you need a win or to just amuse yourself for a bit it’s definitely a good option to consider.

I saw some demonstrations too in the last few days probably on Tiktok (I don't remember) and where the ball lands mostly when we drop from the board and it most likely in the middle region but why I didn't have the same experience whenever I played Plinko, I win big with the demo but with actual bet money the result will always not be in my favor.
428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ViaBTC free slots available [1 Jan 2024] on: January 05, 2024, 06:54:46 PM
And they decreased the number of hourly free transactions to 20.

Quote from: viabtc.com
By the order of submission, ViaBTC supports 20 FREE acceleration chances per hour.

That's new and pretty bad, so I guess the platform failed to stop whoever is abusing their service now reduced the slots and hoping that would put an end. Yeah, maybe this will be the end of the free transaction accelerator. Smiley

Few more minutes for the refresh time and I would like to see the changes really made a difference...

Edit: 20 spots filled in the next second so yeah this the end.
429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on underdog by choosing a favorite spread to increase the odds. on: January 05, 2024, 05:21:41 PM
Talking for myself, I don't really bet on sports based on the odds alone, I also see it myself as a fanatic about that particular team or franchise then I will be willing to take a little risk with my money even if it is an underdog.

But generally, it is one of the calculated risks taken by sports bettors and I don't think it doesn't pay off well because we never know the probability of an underdog beating the favorites but it does happen in the sports and that day is unpredictable and that is why the gambling always thrills the users.
430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 05, 2024, 02:32:11 PM
if games were built to be played with money on casinos like we do now, with absolutely no chances of making money even when you win a game, would you still be spending money playing this games or betting on sports games?

Why on earth I will spend money to play casino games because I can do the same from mobile itself which is called games.

If you remove the money from gambling then it is supposed to come under the category of games and it doesn't make sense to spend money to play basic games. Even though money should not be the prime motive of someone to gamble still its the essence which brings the thrill feature for basic game just because of the money is at stake and the results are unpredictable.
431  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet access re-instatement, restore on: January 05, 2024, 01:07:37 PM
First of all, the password used on Electrum wallet is to encrypt the wallet file so in case if someone got the wallet file from your device they can't decrypt it without the password used.

But when you have the right seedphrase, you do not need the wallet file at all just importing it will restore everything as it used to be. FYI, bitcoins are stored in the blockchain and wallet is just an application to access the funds in it via your private keys.
432  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What risks come with using a public Bitcoin node for handling your transactions? on: January 05, 2024, 09:15:27 AM
What are the significant privacy and security risks associated with using a public Bitcoin node for processing transactions, and how might these risks impact user anonymity and transaction security?

Connecting to the third-party node will not compromise the security of the transaction in any way, so you no need to worry about the funds you are sending to someone who will be at any risk if the transaction has been confirmed already.

But the privacy part which has been explained already, your IP will be exposed which can be avoided by connecting via TOR and all the addresses will be known to the node that you connect.

What else it will cause is, you always have to rely on someone to validate your transactions that is why it is advised to run your own node.
433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shared games helped you before? on: January 04, 2024, 05:33:54 PM
Plus they would be used to giving you a call, and then eventually it will reach the time that they would ask for a small amount for them to also bet. There's nothing wrong with saying no, he might tell you that someone won to make you feel bad.

Asking a friend for money to feed me or my family is acceptable but asking money for our short-term pleasure like gambling isn't right but still, we can give them if we are too rich to consider the amount is negligible but as a friend, it never be on the good side of the moral scale.

Tricking a friend to get the favor is cheating that kind of people should be avoided for life.
434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shared games helped you before? on: January 04, 2024, 03:46:36 PM
I told it the nth time "Never mix money with friends and relatives" because it will definitely bring conflicts that can ruin the relationship whatever it is.

If you want to make a bet then make it for yourself

If your friend wants to make then let him to make a bet on his own, if he lacks the money to bet then tell him to start gambling when he can afford to or go beyond and lend money to your gambling friend for betting.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 02:10:13 PM
Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility.

Let's compare it with smoking and the act remains same, we just blame the smoking not the individual who has the choice to refuse smoking the cigars but due to its addictive nature the gambling or smoking or whatever has also play in it but its only occurs when the individual let things go out of their hands, so from now on we have to call the individual who ruined their life not the gambling, not the smoking.
436  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Most safe wallet for mobile wallet on: January 04, 2024, 07:48:07 AM
If you can, Samourai Wallet, and electrum are all suitable options.

Both these wallets are only available for Android.
Yamane_Keto mentioned three wallets. For some reason your quote only shows two. I don't know if you removed Blue Wallet from the list or what happened there. Anyways, Blue Wallet works with both operating systems.

The reason is these two wallets didn't meet the requirement of OP is asking for. Fake Samourai wallets roam around IOS platform that has nothing to do with the actual Samourai wallet.

Apple device
Android device

Also, I wanted to say more about the Samourai wallet regarding their open source, cause their repositories haven't been updated in the last four years which raised some flags when their last update was released just a couple of months ago.

Electrum and Blue wallets are good for storing small amounts of BTC on mobile and I am an Android user and using Electrum for years now.
437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Single or accumulation, which one do you prefer when it comes to sport betting on: January 03, 2024, 08:39:27 PM
Single bet is the only kind of betting that I have ever done when it comes to sports betting so I guess I am not gonna risk all the winnings to win more and the Parlay is more like going all in after every winning streak in dice or crash game even though you realize that the chances of losing all the previously won rewards just over one loss.
438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 03, 2024, 05:50:49 PM

A situation where the stake for the bet he won was $1k, the next statement you hear is how wish I knew I would have staked with $5k. The question is, the $5k is it an amount of money that you can be comfortable losing or it's just out of greed that you are not contented with the win amount the $1k gave you.

It is basic human nature, they expect a result and when it happens they get credit for it happening even if they have no play in it and they won't be thinking of otherwise at the particular moment. But the next moment if they go for a big amount then they are supposed to be then that is the problem which they shouldn't do at all.
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: RBF - Strange Note. on: January 03, 2024, 04:15:40 PM
The old transaction is valid. The new transaction is also valid. Both remain completely valid and either can be mined, right up to the point where one of them is included in a block.

Take note that as long as none of transactions have been confirmed, both are valid.

Thanks for the info, that leads to my follow-up question.

What are the odds of both transactions being included in the same block? If both transactions are valid then both transactions can be included in the same block too if the fee is used in the same range then what happens?
440  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Most safe wallet for mobile wallet on: January 03, 2024, 07:32:28 AM
format your phone,
Formatting (factory reset) may not be completely secure because some malware can be buried deep into the root folders /boot and|or /recovery partitions in that case wiping data doesn't remove the existing malware.

For the record, cheap Android devices are found to have pre-installed malware in them so be careful with the device if you are buying one for crypto storage.
make sure that OS is open source
Android is open source and IOS is closed source but its not really going to make any difference.
that there is no root or installed apps, use the device to browse trusted sites only, making calls and avoid downloading any new apps.
Rooting/jailbreaking gives complete access of the device so one who know what they are doing can make it useful but mostly they make it more vulnerable and they do it just to install pirated apps.
If you can, Samourai Wallet, and electrum are all suitable options.

Both these wallets are only available for Android.
