1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone informations about opinion-manipulation campaigns against bitcoin? on: February 27, 2015, 01:16:38 PM
Burn 5 xxx-notes at home, catch it on video, and get 1000 fiat-burn-coins!

Aahahhahahahahaaahah!!! I would die, due to an extreme laughing flash.. Cheesy

Even if you are done burning all the paper money, there will be even more that gets printed to replace the one getting lost. And no matter how much that gets burned or thrown away forever, there will be even more around. So How much more can you actually afford to get all the paper money to do for the film stunt.
1242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average Age for Bitcoin/Crypto currency users on: February 27, 2015, 01:10:13 PM
I'm a little surprised that I'm the first one in the 41-60 range!  Cry

Well, at least it shows that there are people in your age group who are into bitcoin. I believe there should be more bitcoiners around your age and I presume they should have a more stable job and career or probably more towards family oriented, and so since they all don't spend that long online, they might have missed this thread. I'm moving towards that (pretty close) hopefully I can still spend so much time, remaining as active as I am right now.
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do We Need Social Media Promotion on: February 27, 2015, 01:01:58 PM
If social media can help a company grow from a rather unknown to become successful, then why not? Companies nowadays have also been using it for new product launch and promotions. And there's so much more that can be done not just on promotion alone. And yeah, definitely bitcoin needs all the help it can get.
1244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Options for Securing your Bitcoin wallet on: February 27, 2015, 12:48:01 PM
Well I use paper wallet but nowadays I develop that sense of insecurity of having the paper getting stolen and the private key revealed. And also since it is just a paper, there's a chance for the ink to fade off someday. Been looking into hardware wallet so more or less I have narrowed down to few options such as trezor or btchip.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin and Not a better improved crypto? on: February 27, 2015, 07:18:52 AM
Each one we have seen with better technologies have so far failed whether it was faster confirmation times, more secure, better anonymity and such. even when there is going to be another likely it will suffer the same fate as the others. Also as bitcoin gets stronger chances for new crypto to replace its position will be most unlikely.
1246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is a solution without a problem? on: February 27, 2015, 05:31:31 AM
I think the good side certainly outweighes all the negative aspect. Yeah you can say it introduces problems of its own but look at the advantages it bring overall. I think the best part is on the low cost money remittance which not only fast but is able to transfer almost to anywhere. And you don't have accounting freezing problem like paypal
1247  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another reason why bitcoin fails on: February 26, 2015, 03:18:09 PM
It all depends on whether you want to buy into or invest on the other altcoins. I think a lot had bad experience before with alts so generally people would be wiser by now. Most of it doesn't last for over a year and eventually the fund will keep pouring back again into bitcoin. The only worry is that bag holders of the altcoins will lose trust in cryptos in general once they got cheated.
1248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp Volume Update on: February 26, 2015, 03:09:59 PM
Aren't all exchanges dropping in their total volume traded the past one month ? But yeah a drop from about 10K to 4K does sound like a big one.

I think a better way to find out is by looking at the drop across all boards and then compare them individually. But seriously if an exchanger was hacked and there wasn't any follow-up audit, people will start to lose confidence. I mean who would be willing to take such a risk.
1249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: February 26, 2015, 03:03:02 PM
WHERE CAN I TRUST 100% TO INVEST MY COINS for garentee payback
CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ME ?

I've never come across such a thing but for whatever reason if there is anything called 100% guaranteed then it best to stay away. Rule of thumbs is that if it sounds too good to be true then better get away as soon as possible.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: US losing out on BTC mining efforts on: February 26, 2015, 02:54:19 PM
Eventually as the difficulty gets higher only the most efficient farm will survive. Not sure about China but I think there are also other places where you can find cheap electricity for example Iceland where electricity cost is also comparatively cheap. What's best is that you get can free natural cooling for the hardware as well.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you got into bitcoin/crypto ? on: February 26, 2015, 02:44:33 PM
I wish I could recall how it happened though. I was on the internet searching for some money making stuff and ended up here. After reading more and more that got me interested but the first crypto that I actually got into wasn't bitcoin. It was quark. I was there for a few months and after seeing the community sort of disorganized on the directions, I decided to switch to bitcoin.
1252  Economy / Speculation / Re: One of the biggest Wall Street Bitcoin bulls just turned bearish on: February 26, 2015, 12:55:17 PM
Fiat runs on the greater fools theory too, and there's a near infinite number of fools on the world anyway
Ha. Good statement. Sometimes things being so simple and yet everything is right there in front of us and we just chose not to accept it. By the way, I don't think the statement that Brian Kelly made is going to cause any negative effect. He's probably writing two sides of a story to gain some attention or readers.
1253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market ripe for a price drop on: February 26, 2015, 12:43:16 PM
Bitcoin has so far been so unpredictable. Don't bet on it that it will be a confirmed drop. Sometimes when you thought the market was sleeping, a sudden huge buy order will be coming in and cause the price to go up. We have seen that couple of times and I'm sure there's every chance that it will happen again.
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average Age for Bitcoin/Crypto currency users on: February 26, 2015, 12:37:40 PM
Sadly people often think that the older generations seem to be uninterested or lack the knowledge to really understand bitcoin. Well, I'm one of the middle aged group right now and in another 10 to 20 years, I'll become the so-called older generation. By then, I think we can start to take off the stereotyping image that older generations are not bitcoin enthusiasts.
1255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin and Not a better improved crypto? on: February 26, 2015, 12:32:58 PM
The only reason I can think of is because it is virtually the first in the game or rather the original crypto. There's already a strong community build around and being the first also means you have that advantage. There are certainly altcoins with faster confirmation time or some with better anonymity but sadly the community never stays long. Due to the pump and dump scenario, people start to lose faith in alts and eventually return back to bitcoin. How I know? Yeah, I'm one of the those guys who has gone back to bitcoin.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: facebook should incorporate bitcoin as soon as possible! on: February 26, 2015, 12:27:36 PM
I thought nowadays you can tip your friend on facebook which I think is extremely cool. Thanks to changetip. And the next major step forward would be to be able to purchase advertising credits with bitcoin someday. If that goes on as planned, bitcoin will certainly explode to become mainstream. I mean if facebook can do it, why not others.
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Big Is The Impact of Dell To Bitcoin? on: February 26, 2015, 12:19:22 PM
After Dell Embraces Bitcoin In UK and Canada, what will happen to bitcoin?

Given that its only available in UK and Canada.

How can Dell's acceptance of Bitcoin affect each of us bitcoiners?

Probably not much for now. Else you should see the price going up. I think the effect would be more profound towards long term because if you have a company successfully integrating bitcoin to their payment system, you will see others which will follow suit and if that expands into every company accepting bitcoin, there will be quite a demand for it.
1258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin revolution could be the next internet, says Bank of England on: February 26, 2015, 12:11:20 PM

Well it's interesting to have a financial institution expressing their interest in combining digital currency into existing payment system. I bet when you read further you will see that they have also acknowledge that the main market is actually on the money remittance business. Let's see what develops from here onwards.
1259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: support for Bitcoin had always been more of a philosophical than commercial deci on: February 26, 2015, 12:02:51 PM
When maybe that is the current scenario for now. But what if few years down the road and you have every bitcoin users who is also a wordpress user started to use bitcoin. And if you have another competitors like tumblr, typepad also starting to accept bitcoin payment, by then it would be more towards commercial decision. I hope that can change someday.
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin will fail and this is why on: February 26, 2015, 11:54:22 AM
Nice storyline. Let me continue further...And after they succeeded in doing that, a couple of new mining farms will then pop out from nowhere to continue with the mining operation. It's like it was dead a while ago and then in a blink of an eye just came back alive once again. And that my friend is the legacy of bitcoin.
