1241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Todd calls dash snake oil. on: July 18, 2015, 09:07:59 PM
LOL. Dash isn't anonymous, that was Peter's point. You're holding that anonymity spot for us. Keep it warm.  Wink

Well, I'm just wondering what will happen when the paedophiles realize all of this and switch to monero? Will iCEBREAKER and TrueCryptonaire crying in every monero topics around because of this? ...or they will be happy to see more monero fans on board Smiley?
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: US Regulators cracking down on altcoins on: July 18, 2015, 08:47:05 PM
What are the advantages of using regulated coins over a bank card :/? If you let governments to take a seat at your table you can be sure they never going to leave. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT a currency debate! on: July 17, 2015, 12:14:05 PM
Bitcoin is NOT a currency!

In it's simplest form it is just payment rails. Stop thinking about is as currency and what is left to regulate?

If a merchant selling a pair of jeans for $250 accepts a 1 bitcoin and customer 2 weeks later asks for a refund with a value of a bitcoin going up to $300. Is he going to get 1 bitcoin back or a value of the jeans he bought? Naturally, the value, which means 3/4 of a bitcoin at the time of the refund. So, how does it make bitcoin a currency. ITS NOT!

What do you think?

Well, that depends on in what currency the merchant denominated that jeans. If that was $250 but as an alternative payment method he/she accepted 1 BTC (at the then current $250 exchange rate) then he should refund $250 worth BTC. If he sold that Jeans for 1 BTC what was worth $250 in that time then he/she should give back 1 BTC even if it went up to $300 in the meantime.
1244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Munero be censored on Bitcointalk? on: July 17, 2015, 11:15:48 AM
It would be a really nice and useful feature to be able to put not just people but topics to my ignore list. It would be even more useful if we could use it with regular expressions. I know, I should carry on with dreaming at home in my bed Smiley.
1245  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: July 17, 2015, 10:46:11 AM
People used to think that Sunny King was Realsolid for a little while back when PPCoin was launched heh heh.

Realsolid is one of the most notorious shady characters in altcoin history yet people still handed him millions on his exchange.

And I'm pretty sure, a new generation of noobs will hand him millions again if he turns up with some new promises about great profit in exchange for doing almost nothing Smiley.
1246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Munero be censored on Bitcointalk? on: July 17, 2015, 10:01:32 AM
I'm quite neutral or maybe "negatively neutral" on monero and IMO spamming this board with monero shilling topics is at least an unmannered thing, but officially introducing censorship here is an even worse idea.
1247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pedophiles Launch Dash (“Darkcoin”) Mining Crowdfunding Platform on: July 17, 2015, 09:52:17 AM
I guess most paedophiles are still using fiat money. This argument is just the same bullshit as the "terrorists and drug dealers are using bitcoin, it must be regulated" :/. Still cash is the most anonymous payment system, used in at least 99% of all illegal activities, so get lost with such BS as the OP.

Why chop your tubes up when (...)
Why NOT tie my tubes when I know I'll never want children?

PM me for info on herbal based temporary male birth control
"herbal remedy" is almost always code for "pseudoscientific magic-medicine"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA0wKeokWUU

I support your attitude. Could you please persuade your leftist and liberal friends to follow your example Smiley? This way you guys can save resources, money and can make a better world within one generation... Smiley

FYI the active ingredients of several modern medicines are based on, or just identical to the active ingredients of some herbs.
1249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To the greeks.. on: July 16, 2015, 01:36:48 PM
In what country to "everyone" pay their taxes? Didn't you know Greece has the longest work schedule of all Europe with really low salaries?
They've also had a series of governments that have ruined the country as well, it's not "the Greeks" faulty. Your comment is a classic anti-greek cliched one. The only thing I agree with is they shouldn't be retiring that early. No one likes to work but guess what, life sucks if you aren't born rich.

Longest work schedule on it's own means nothing if that work isn't well organized and effective. The salaries there are a lot higher than salaries in Central Europe or in the Baltic States for longer working hours and much more actual work. Of course a part of the people exploited the "opportunities" but let's be honest who wouldn't do that if that's safely doable. Anyway I'd blame the Greek politicians in the first place as they really stole or wasted most of the money what they've got however they were well aware of the coming storm since ages. The second place goes to the EU officials who kept making stupid decisions for purely political reasons.
1250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boycott German products on: July 16, 2015, 01:14:44 PM
Oh Yes, I would buy a ferrari or alpha romeo, not a shitty porsche.

Yep! Those are great cars if you also have a german car in your garage for getting to work when your Italian trash is on the trailer or at the car mechanic again Wink. But seriously my wife almost died in an Alfa when the left front suspension arm suddenly went off. BTW that bloody car have spent at least a fifth or quarter of it's lifetime in the service. No such issues since we are driving VWs.
1251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is there an altcoin trading bot that i can use on my pc on: July 16, 2015, 12:36:53 PM
Not any working one. You can find some free bots (like Avalon bot, etc.) what claiming that you can use it on some or all of the mayor exchanges but those are used to be keyloggers or other malware.

QT Bitcoin trader is OK, but it supports only a few big altcoin exchanges.

Anyway, always run an AV check when you ate testing a newly downloaded free bot, and always use it for some time first on a "lightly funded" test account.
1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone got rich with altcoins (with small amount) ? on: July 16, 2015, 11:31:58 AM
Personally the cult around Monero is one of the major advantages. It reminds me the cult there is around bitcoin and we all know to where it leads.
I am a Monero owner because I find it the only alt coin worth to hold.
There are big names interested in Monero and the high chance of big money entering to the market makes me bullish on that coin. The community is large enough that it can absorb any bigger dumps relatively easily, and the price has established around here where we are now.
I hope you will not leave behind the train.... It is not late to buy Moneros when the DB issue has taken fully care of but I think it is better to invest in Monero when it is still as its infant state and let it grow organically after then, and perhaps keep buying it all the way up (not recommended to go all-in once but make a buying plan rather and then top be disciplined).

I disagree. Cults are the death of objectivity and reasoning and that's never a good thing. I think we should make a sharp distinction between community and "cultists". Community is something what can grow organically in many directions, but a cult is something what forcing it's way into only a few directions without caring too much about the fundamentals and supports. BTW the cult around BTC is equally damaging.

I'm also holding some Monero what I've mined in the beginning and bought when it was new and really cheap. But at this moment I see it as an overrepresented asset without the real power to make a breakthrough. Everybody is talking about price, absorbing dumps, predictions, but in the meantime the client looks like (and as comfortable as) a console app from the 70's, but you need a server hardware to run it. There are very limited real world services for it, and no one seems to be realize that without an easy to use client (incl. mobile clients) and services what ppl need in their everyday life XMR will remain only a toy for geeks and daytraders.

(Actually this stuff what I wrote above is true for almost every coins :/.)
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone got rich with altcoins (with small amount) ? on: July 16, 2015, 11:07:04 AM
define success  Roll Eyes

Getting mainstream, used by a lot of Average Joe's for doing everyday stuff (like in the case of Paypal).

anyway, only wanted to help you out a little. nothing personal, but you're back on my ignore list now, so I won't post in here again.

My fault. I always pissing myself off, when I have to touch the Monero client. Anyway thanks for the help, and sorry for being grumpy.
1254  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boycott German products on: July 16, 2015, 11:01:45 AM
I do not think a boycott against Germany change the current situation in Greece. The German people is not guilty, the IMF is guilty.

Learn history. German people is always guilty... even if they wasn't there Smiley. If the Greeks were cheating en mass on their benefit claims, evaded taxes and their politicians stole everything what they could, that all happened because of the German people. They let them do that by giving them money when they needed. Without their loans Greece would be a real heaven on earth Smiley.
1255  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boycott German products on: July 16, 2015, 10:31:46 AM
Sorry mate but when I'm after a new car I'm not going to buy Italian or French or Jap trash. Same thing applies to household appliances, gardening and power tools, and light bulbs Smiley. But we can discuss the rest. A few examples:
- British ales are far better than those Gerry rinsings and the Czeh also forgot more about beer making than Germans ever know.
- As those krauts are also never learned to cook, ppl should stick to French, Spanish, Italian and Greek food.
- Wine wise Hungary, Italy, Spain, and some of those French swills are also drinkable (forget the Australian and US wine looking bottled crap, those are not wine at all but a mix of pesticides, alcohol and water).

So yes, there are plenty of alternatives to make your life better, show your solidarity with Greece and fuk nanny Angie and her Fourth Reich Smiley.
1256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone got rich with altcoins (with small amount) ? on: July 16, 2015, 09:32:17 AM
looks like I'm a cultist then. as soon as we get the coon and cthulhu aboard, all other coins are done Cheesy

As he still dreaming in his house, in addition he's dead, I wouldn't expect too much impact on the price in the near future because of his actions Smiley.

on topic: in case you are still running the non-lmdb version and/or having memory shortcomings, you might wanna check out this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.msg11884057#msg11884057

Yes, I've tried to use the official client (0.8.8.6) but that's hogging up all the memory on my laptop and I had to fire up a dedicated machine with 16 GB RAM to get it work. That was the point when I decided to leave my old wallets alone and wait more for usable client. As I see this is still something where I have to do a lot of tinkering to get it work :/.

Have you guys realized that XMR never going to succeed without a fast and easy to use GUI client?
1257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero is irrelevant but the shills and despeate are still here on: July 16, 2015, 08:01:24 AM
What is Midas?

An old story from Gox Smiley. Basically a reference about promises what never comes true. (Gox was promising the deployment of this new Midas trading engine for very long time but that never happened. Midas was also supposed to be able to trade altcoins.)

"Our new trading engine is finished and soon to be deployed after a couple of hardware updates. Code-named "Midas", we're currently bench-testing the engine at over 500,000 trades per second, but Midas is capable of much more than that. We're really looking forward to showing you what it can do, and are pretty certain you'll love it too."
1258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Calling for the U.S. government to cancel Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit t on: July 16, 2015, 07:45:56 AM
Don't want to be a party popper but those two probably going to talk about money and trade. When big money and trade are at the stake, politicians used to ignore human rights, rainforests and cute baby seals :/.
1259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone got rich with altcoins (with small amount) ? on: July 16, 2015, 07:39:11 AM

Have you studied Monero?

Monero has fair POW distribution.
I recommend to study Monero as these are probably the last days/weeks/months to get cheap Moneros due to declining emission schedule.

In your opinion, why Monero over say Bitcoindark?

Because of he holds a lot I guess Smiley. When someone here recommends something as the last chance of getting it dirt cheap is almost gone, that usually means that you found a bagholder or a shill Smiley.
BTW the only bad thing with Monero is the cult around it (and that f*ckin client what gobbling up 4GB of memory when loading the blockchain).
1260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone got rich with altcoins (with small amount) ? on: July 15, 2015, 03:58:12 PM
As I see this is topic turning to some sort of what's your favourite shitcoin and what are you bagholding discussion Smiley.

I guess some 2013-2014 developers were able to accumulate some good amount of money, and a couple of traders and PDers surely made a lot of money, but I doubt that they've made millions. Perhaps you should ask some early adopters like BitcoinEXpress if he/she/it/they/those (pick your favourite) knows anyone who got rich with alts Smiley.

BTW a few high profile scammers like Josh Garza are good candidates for the altmillonaire status.
