The whole point of protoshares is that at least one other DAC is going to be released, and when it is you get parts of that in accordance with how many protoshares you hold.
So the more profitable the new ones being released, the more valuable protoshares are since if you have protoshares you will get some of each of the new ones.
So no matter how profitable they turn out to be, presumably protoshares are even more profitable.

Been mining crypto since early 2011. Some advice: Do not ever rely on a future event occurring or a future development actually proceeding. Consider if it's really wise to mine and hold with the unproven expectation of a potential future event. If it doesn't happen, what will you be left with? If the project tanks, and PTS follows, what are you left with? I know this may be hard to hear, and I know this is BCT forums: inhabited by some of the most positive-thinking and endearing true believers of any technology of recent times, but you should always have a backup plan / eggs in multiple baskets to mitigate your risk. Just my BTC0.02 It's always wise to take your precautions, no matter what. That being said, it isn't wise to be skeptical of every endeavor just because there were scums in the past. I agree that the whole ideas of DACs is pretty ambitious but I see no reason for every single one of them to fail. There's nothing wrong in having a realistic development cycle for these ideas; after all, they are not like the copy-paste altcoins and genuinely need a lot of development and testing. Also, just FYI, PTS holders got a share of MemoryCoin 2.0 at 10% (1 MMC for 10 PTS held) although that isn't a DAC. The expected schedule for Bitshares is sometime next year. That is probably the most awaited project for PTS holders.

Down for me too. And no reply to my mail from several days ago ...

Does anyone know if the exchanges honor the ProtoShares to MemoryCoin conversion for the ProtoShares held with them, or are they just going to claim those for themselves and not give anything to the people it belongs to? Neither Cryptsy nor Bter has replied to this query. I'm guessing they're just going to keep them. Damn it! Should have withdrawn all of them to my personal wallet

Should be interesting to follow the progress. There are not many details now, if you can publish a whitepaper and give us more leads to do our research (as opposed to "trust me, I am putting your money to good use" scenario) that would be great. Merry Christmas!

Yes! Please add MemoryCoin 2.0 This is new innovative coin from the developer of ProtoShares. MMC is the next big thing in CPU coins. Yeah, please add MMC. It now has a block explorer, an exchange and a few pools. Please add MMC 2.0 soon. +1 Agreed, MMC 2.0 would be cool +1. Would be nice to add MMC 2.0

Can any of the devs contact coinmarketcap.com and have SXC listed there? I think they usually need a block explorer from where they get the data, and Cryptsy price points should do. Seems like a lot of new money is getting into the crypto-currency space looking for opportunities at coinmarketcap. SXC should definitely be listed there too, IMHO.
I'm well aware of this and brought it to the attention of Lava.. When we were running ABE 0.7 we had full stats on our block explorer, but if you check it now we are running 0.8 and some stats aren't given, like total coins created. I've reiterated our concerns in a private message, but we have to consider that will most people find running pools cuts into their time, Lava is running pools, a faucet, the blockexplorer and has been coding a new client which I'm solo mining on the moment as part of testing. I do have ABE 0.7 on one rig, but the long of the short of it is I can't run servers without getting a public IP, and if I did my bandwith would make any traffic a nightmare. So I guess the long of the short of it is, we'll get it done ASAP. I'll check with lava and if ABE's API's are fully functional, get us on pronto.. Otherwise it's in the que, with a high proirity but behind the new client release. That's great to hear! I just wanted to inform you if you missed the whole coinmarketcap thing somehow. The coins there have done crazy. Megacoin had like what a 40x jump in about 5 days. I know lava is doing a great job and SXC faucet remains one of the last real surviving altcoin faucets out there. I've seen too many of them go dry or just shut down.

Surely this forum didn't exist before Bitcoin was announced. So I'm curious where Satoshi first released Bitcoin. Anybody know?
Some time after having helped himself to a massive chunk of the Bitcoin monetary base. Huh??

I personally like Vircurex much better than Cryptsy. Some good options there. DVC is up 5x from its bottom a couple weeks ago. But obviously the draw of Crypsty is the extensive list of coins. I was never a fan of the interface of Coins-e, so never bothered with it. Agreed. If you are looking at the coins in Vircurex only, I think it is pretty good. However, like you mentioned, Cryptsy has a much more extensive inventory of currency pairs.
