1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Amazon buy Blockchain.info till 2016? on: August 27, 2014, 01:53:44 AM
Would Satoshi agree on selling the Blockchain.info page? Is Blockchain.info directly linked wiith the Bitcoin devs??
No it isn't. Satoshi doesn't own blockchain.info Smiley
1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitsharesX is taking Litecoin and Bitcoin down on: August 26, 2014, 12:06:34 AM
Why does it have to be a binary either/or? Can't BitsharesX provide a completely different functionality than Litecoin, and as crypto itself grows, both Litecoin and BitsharesX can grow with it. The industry is too small to keep trying to "kill" each other!

I had done one post on NOBL way back in Feb, and wouldn't mind doing another when the PoS change rolls through. I think there's a shortage of people in crypto who actually deliver, and it's good to be covering coins where someone has a vision.

Will be interesting to revisit the thread a couple of years from now.
No one will give half a fuck about this dipshit thread a few months from now, let alone a few years.
Lol fair enough. Just seems like the same things being said over and over, when the price is rising, falling, at $1, at $1000 or $500

What time is the Wall Street event going to happen? And where exactly on Wall Street? Near the stock exchange?
1166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The deal between Ethereum-Bitshares is off! on: August 20, 2014, 02:29:49 AM
Chill out folks Smiley
I am not invested in Eth either, but it would be an interesting experiment to watch for sure, and I most certainly wish the team the best and hope they succeed. The real power of Ethereum isn't supposed to be from Ether anyway, but applications that build on top of it. It might as well just be the first iteration of something better.

1168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will bitcoin be the irrational exuberance of our times? on: July 28, 2014, 04:08:31 AM
Irrational exuberance for a $8 billion market cap? Do you know how many companies that were absolutely worthless were valued above this during the dot-com boom?
1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - *GOING PoS*NOBL/$USD*MARKETPLACE*52 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS* on: July 28, 2014, 12:30:43 AM
Apologies. Let me give a rundown of everything, mostly covered in the .PDF but with extra developments/decisions/news.

1. Regarding PoS. As I've stated the decision to hardfork from a traditionally pure PoW > PoS seems to be more technically difficult and that's why you generally see a clean PoS wallet swap hosted by an exchange. Presstab has worked wonders and delivered testing forks and code but we have been bughunting small but tough issues.

We've been debating whether to do a wallet swap hosted by exchanges and Presstab is more than capable to oversee that if necessary. However because we wanted to be one of the few/first to do a PoW>PoS hardfork the traditional way we've stuck with it. It's been a valuable learning process that helps myself, others and our PoS developer(s) better understand PoS for future work, because this obviously won't be the end. My PoS understanding has grown immensely and we will be improving PoS for a long time to come once we clear up the fork.

Because of this we've been blessed to get a second, very experienced PoS developer to help us do a hardfork the traditional way but he can't step in for a couple of weeks. I'm hoping he is happy to make himself publicly known, otherwise we respect his decision to remain anonymous. If anyone can get the job done, he can. We were debating whether to go for quick satisfaction or delay and get a fork done properly however difficult, and we've chosen the latter (see further points to make up for it).

2. Regarding the PoS time-frame. Because of the time we're spending on this I will be happy to discuss with privately and purchase NOBL from any poster in here to the tune of a few million each individual at 20 satoshi over the next few weeks. If you purchased NOBL recently thinking PoS may come sooner or were expecting to flip a quick profit but now it's taking longer than expected I will buy it off you and be done with it. I meant it in my update where I said I want to become a key investor and buy as much as I can as soon as finances come through and I can afford it (soon). My purchases from community members will be put into transparent wallets, they will be ongoing and they will become quite large if I have any say in it. If I get too many requests they will become IOUs, I will give more personal details and sign something if it makes you happy until I have enough funds clear to buy them.

3. Because of the wait I will be pushing out the Marketplace sooner rather than wait for PoS (http://marketplace.noblemovement.com). This week. It needs SSL but then should be good to go at least initially. I still need to do some travel to make the case for large bullion trade but that will have to come after PoS. More merchants will be coming on board.

4. Wallet Because a PoS fork is not my forte I have instead been building alternative wallets incorporating all the features that have been appealing in other wallets from coins that have since unfortunately dwindled. This includes a new choice of designs, inbuilt explorers, greater control and flexibility, market stats, the lot. We will start pushing these out regularly with updates for those who want to test them until we're comfortable with a few finished products and release them officially with PoS. The testing wallets will start coming at the end of this week or next week.

5. Updates/Quiet We have been quieter for a reason. I've been very busy and it's been directly related to NOBL and cryptocurrency. Any news we can share will come as soon as it can, but I can't give timeframes or release news until it's 100%. I am not going anywhere, but if you want to buy NOBL, do it with a longer-term monthly mindset. If that feels too risky for you don't try to swing or trade because until we have something finished we won't give too much info. to affect the market. Like I said earlier, if you feel burnt by the last week and don't want to sell at a loss but are happy to wait a little, PM me and I will take it off your hands as soon as funds clear.

6. Community Involvement New teams, new developers, new ambassadors. We'll be updating and improving our site. I still stress we need community involvement for promotion and other developments. We can't have everyone sitting around waiting for news and announcements and for us to do stuff. Be the news, promotion and announcements (and get paid for it). Don't get me wrong we love doing this and have been working, but this is a surprisingly thankless job, relatively unpaid and full of death/money threats (of which all kinds I'm now accustomed to). NOBL always comes first for me unless it's time when I need to get the rent paid. Fortunately a lot of my side work is crypto. related and will benefit NOBL in the long-run.

The mini-update for those who missed it: https://www.noblemovement.com/NOBL-July-2014-Update.pdf
Very cool. Good work. Can't wait for these changes. I am in no hurry to see these implemented, so good luck to the entire NOBL team, and I'll chip in whenever I can afford more time from my side.

Why do you want to be convinced? Or are you just looking for an echo chamber? How about doing your research on your own and reaching your own conclusions?

Carlos, can you explain how an account can be suspended for inactivity? Do you have to click a certain number of ads or log into the website every so often? What about your earnings when the account is suspended? What about affiliate clicks/earnings?

Hyper has been added to swisscex voting list. Vote here: https://www.swisscex.com/voting
Good to know. Even though it isn't one of the 'big leagues', I really like Swisscex as an exchange.
1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall's Bitcoin Auction Results on: June 28, 2014, 02:22:32 PM
This may or may not be relevant to the thread, but why did Ross Ulbricht give up his passphrase to the silkroad wallet? If the FBI won't allow him to ever access those bitcoins again, then delete the wallet. Why give them to the FBI? It's not even their right to profit off this.

From what I know (and correct me if I'm wrong because I'm quoting this from memory):

- The coins that were sold above were seized from the Silk Road server. They were seen as proceeds of crime so naturally they took them. If Ross admitted that they were his coins he pretty much loses the case. When they apprehended Ross in the library he was logged on to SR and some other panels he used, I'm guessing the wallet was decrypted at that point. I don't know if they transferred the coins right then or by obtaining the password at a later date.

- Ross had a separate batch of coins that weren't on the SR server and he's adamant those are his own coins.

Either way, as no one has come forward claiming the coins found on the SR server and it's property used in crime they're allowed to sell it - I don't know the exact legislation behind it but it happens all the time when seized goods get auctioned off.

It'll be really interesting to see what affect this has on the market.
True, although it's wrong to assume that all the money was for 'crime'. Firstly, it was a global marketplace, and a Portugese citizen buying most drugs isn't illegal in Portugal. For another, a good amount of money was for electronics, not drugs, which aren't illegal (yet).
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall's Bitcoin Auction Results on: June 28, 2014, 03:59:55 AM
Probably it will be confidential, at least for a while until it's leaked. I'm really curious about the final price.

I'm expecting it simply to be somewhat below the current market price, considering that if you wanted to buy some you'd easily be able to do so at the current price, so having an auction wouldn't achieve anything. It's simply a question of how far below the market price and whether or not we'll see an increase in the supply of BTC following this or whether they'll just hoard it.
Not true. If you wanted to buy 20,000 Bitcoin, there's no way you could buy them at the current price. An auction allows you to do exactly that. They could sell for a premium if all parties are interested in acquiring Bitcoin and not try to 'flip' them. It's not simply a matter of how far below the market price - it could very well be above it.
1175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any predictions - Fed Auction? on: June 28, 2014, 03:42:38 AM
http://www.coindesk.com/us-governments-sale-30000-btc-impact-bitcoin-prices/

Anyone want to predict, what will happen?

If the buyers sit on these coins for investment, the price would remain stable. If they buy it very low and sell at market price, they will flood the market and the price will drop.

If it fell with 6% when it was just announced, how much will it drop, if the coins hit the market?

Back to $400 US ?

I might be wrong but the price might drop, don't know if it will drop to $400 or not, but it will defo drop atleast $50-$100 and it will again be a good opportunity to buy some more.
Hah, waiting for the price to drop to 400 seems wistful thinking. I guess we'll find out on Monday anyway.
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall's Bitcoin Auction Results on: June 28, 2014, 03:40:20 AM
Thanks for the post, look forward to the final results.
I think it's premature to assume that the price was at a discount to the market price on the exchanges.
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HBN Investment Journal - 2% returns every ten days - 90,000+ HBN Porfolio on: June 15, 2014, 07:11:09 PM
I'm currently escrowing the HYPER MMO Development Fund.

It has the same PoS as Hobonickels (paid daily!) but has many more projects to actually support the ecosystem of the coin, such as recently launched HYPER Counterstrike server, and upcoming online HYPER arcade, HYPER Minecraft server, the HYPER space MMO that is under development, and the revival of an old classic space MMO by the dedicated HYPER team https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624651.0

I've been following this thread for a while and thought Tokyoghetto was a nice guy who understood how cryptocurrency community works. I don't log in to bitcointalk every day, so I was surprised and appalled when I saw Tokyoghetto's behavior towards the HYPER community in their thread and elsewhere.

Just to clarify, so you can all know the truth, Tokyoghetto did not leave HYPER voluntarily because he thought it was a "scam", he was asked to leave as his fee for managing the market stabilization fund was too high (this 500K HYPER is now being used for MMO Development) and he refused to renegotiate his fee, and instead went on a smear campaign against one of the most original and exciting alt coins I have seen in quite some time.

I'll be escrowing the fund until another escrow is found, or the community trusts HYPERfuture enough to manage it himself. I think HYPER is a PoS coin with huge potential and that is why I am putting my reputation behind it. I've seen A LOT of coins come and go and I can tell you the effort HYPERfuture is putting into HYPER is on another level entirely compared to 99% of the alts out there.

Thanks for listening and I hope you have a great day Smiley

Thanks for sharing your opinion with us, HBN-fans. I can only speak for myself and i don't mean any disrespect but my vote of convidence goes to TG in this matter.
As to Hyper, I might consider it one day. When it has survived one year of incredible crypto landslides like HBN has. For me this is becoming more and more an all important qualification to decide upon.

Whatever it's going to be. For sure its most exciting!

I think the people should objectively determine whether they want to invest in HBN, HYPER or both. It seems like the entire episode between TG and Hyper was a clusterfck overall. It's immaterial who was right or wrong then. What matters is the future of both these coins.
Thanks psybits for giving us your version of the story. Let people make up their own minds on the investment matter.
