is it too late for sig campaign?
you must reach membee rank before you can apply for waves signature campaign.
3 more post you arr about to member rank.

How can I check my member rank and progress? It measured strictly by the number of posts?
No it isn't. See this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Well, this only works when the ICO price goes up on trading (which I admit does a lot). However, if the price is flat or down, then you're either selling for a loss or selling to break even. The point is, the strategy should be followed for all ups, not just at the ICO. Some coins don't go up immediately after the ICO (Factom comes to mind) but will go up later. In that case, it is better to hold for that first pump. Of course, the risk is that pump never comes.

I never said it was foolproof.  All ICOs are a gamble and yes most ICOs do go up but there is no guarantee.  Also even if it does go up you may forgo even larger profits that you could have had if you waited - e.g. ETHER all time high (so far) was nearly a year after release, so if you held on to your ETHER and sold at that point you would make much more than if you had sold some of your coins in the first pump.

On the other hand NEUCOIN went down almost immediately after launch and doesn't seem likely to ever even reach the ICO price again.  It's all a question of risk and how much risk you want to take.  None of us have a crystal ball (at least one that works) and can predict the future with 100% accuracy.

When BTC was about to hit $1 many people were saying that it was the right time to sell because it would never sustain such a high value and would soon crash down to a few cents.  You just never know for sure and that is cryptocurrency in general.

In the case of WAVES the POS/lending model gives an alternative way to increase your holdings though.  Also given the high community interest and buzz surrounding WAVES I think if anything the risk will be more about lost profits from selling early so people should think carefully about what would bother them more - losing their initial investment or doing the equivalent of selling their WAVES early like those who sold BTC for a $1.

You mention Neucoin. Even with the POS rewards, it did fall down quite a bit and will likely never recover to its ICO price. That might be similar to Waves - you never know. The market knows about POS rewards and will adjust accordingly. I know a ton of POS coins with good rewards that just keep falling faster than the reward system. It is incorrect to think that Waves will definitely beat the odds just because they have a POS/lending model.

Smart people sell some of their holdings early on after an ICO finishes as a means of hedging their bets.  That way if the price continues to rise they still hold a decent amount of the coin/currency and if the price falls they can keep some of their BTC and use it to reinvest in another coin or if they truly believe in the coin they can buy back at a lower price thereby increasing their holdings.  Even if you 100% believe in a coin it makes sense to do this in order to protect yourself.  No matter how strong a business model a coin has it will inevitably rise and fall - so why not take advantage of that?

Well, this only works when the ICO price goes up on trading (which I admit does a lot). However, if the price is flat or down, then you're either selling for a loss or selling to break even. The point is, the strategy should be followed for all ups, not just at the ICO. Some coins don't go up immediately after the ICO (Factom comes to mind) but will go up later. I had wondered what was behind the name of Yuri Gagarin. Thanks everyone for de-mystifying the mystery. Though I guess a little mystery still remains. Smiley

For sure, there are 16 team members atm, including 3 Gagarins, not counting partners and cooperators.
That's quite a large team before a launch. It could go either way. From the experience of some other coins, I could advise you to keep your burn low, even though you raised a lot in the ICO. These things burn quickly, and you may be left with a half-baked product without any development funds. Just my 2cents.
1005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 28, 2016, 10:56:34 PM
So when is this shitcoin launching?  I bought and sold some of the yobit iou's, and it seems like the market has tanked before the actual coin has even launched.

Well...it's certainly tanked volume-wise, but it's still hovering around 0.004. That price has been pretty stable, tho' we've yet to see what'll happen once Liskers get their hands on the real thing & can finally sell.

Despite its artificiality, the ~$1 price is now anchored in folks' minds here. Anchored to the point at which 50 cents is an apparent bargain.
How is the $1 price anchored? Also, if Bitcoin rises in value, it might be that people may lose money on a BTC basis even while maintaining value in USD. Just something else to consider.
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 27, 2016, 09:13:28 PM
I perceive the idea of decentralised banking as when anyone willing  could be a banker. In those  terms anyone who participate in any kind of crowd funding by giving/investing in a project is actually acting as a bank. He lends/invests into something expecting a financial return-exactly what banks do.But most important is that in crypto world you can participate in it regardless of your financial output. Contrary to  Wall-Streeter schemes where there are  investment requirements to be able to participate  in a scheme.
This is really not what banks do. It's more like what the venture capital industry might do. Banks are, in general, very conservative with lending capital and is quite unusual for them to lend to startups.

The best is to wait for official news like always Smiley
Where will the official news be announced? Also, if you let some early adopters know (perhaps with a press embargo), we can help get more coverage.
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WAVES] Price Speculation Thread on: April 27, 2016, 09:04:29 PM

Stay tuned Wink
Ok this is quite interesting. You need to give more details than just a tease. This is because Mycelium is looking for a crowdsale, and would be very positive if it's done on Waves, but I don't think they will considering their time frames and Waves is still unproven. If it's just a wallet creation, that's less bullish.
1009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 27, 2016, 09:02:48 PM
I'm almost certain prices will peak immediately after launch, but drop drastically within 24 hours. This may have a positive side however, as a lot of folks who missed the ICO and are eager to hoard LISK, seize the oppertunity to actually buy it at a reduced price. Though prices beneath ICO-value are unlikely, unless this whole project utterly fails and goes up in flames.
How are you coming to this conclusion? It could be either way - the first 24 hours might see many people looking to sell their LISK and therefore make the price fall instead of going up, but then the price recovers.
1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 27, 2016, 09:01:38 PM
Whoa, are you guys partnering with the Mycelium crowdsale? Would be interesting if that was held on Waves, but doesn't seem like the timelines fit - they want the crowdsale started on May 1 I think. Is there anything else going on, like Mycelium building a Waves wallet? That would be nice too, though less exciting.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WAVES] Price Speculation Thread on: April 25, 2016, 10:56:20 PM
At least $1 at launch. It looks very useful and that is what drives up price and demand in crypto is ease of use and the usefulness of the coin.
Seriously? You think Waves at launch will be valued at over $100 million, just behind Litecoin and ahead of coins like Dash, MaidSafe, etc.?
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 25, 2016, 10:54:44 PM
Wonder what people think of most of the alts falling and how it will affect Lisk's price. Lisk speculation was quite tied to Ethereum, and now Ethereum is near its 1 month lows. I believe it will affect Lisk's price as well, pushing it down. I don't see the market changing significantly in the next week or so.
1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 24, 2016, 09:17:24 PM
Yeah, but these comments don't mean anything...

"Yeah, if it replaces the dollar it will be worth a lot"... well, thanks.
Rather, what are the ODDS that we will see high valuations for LISK? That is a better question.

There are 100 million LISK. If one LISK is worth $1 then all lisk are worth $100 million. I dont think that is a reasonable valuation.
If LISK takes off it will be much more than $1 per lisk.

How do you ever hope to answer a question like that? The product isn't even launched yet, how is anyone going to estimate the probability of A, B, and C when we don't even know if that will really be the product-market fit or if it would be something completely different.
1014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 24, 2016, 08:19:20 PM
There are 100 million LISK. If one LISK is worth $1 then all lisk are worth $100 million. I dont think that is a reasonable valuation.

Too simplistic a statement. IF, big IF, this area of Dapps takes off and using Javascript can somehow be a part of things, LISK will go places. It is a great idea, let's see how they create, package and execute things.
What probability would you assign for Lisk to be say 10% of Ethereum's market cap?
1015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most Exciting Bitcoin Projects! on: April 24, 2016, 07:54:14 PM
I am very excited about the Block reward halving for obvious reasons and also the OpenBazaar project.

but I don't think including an altcoin (ethereum) among exciting bitcoin projects is a right, it has nothing to do with bitcoin even if it is exciting.

Of course it has, look at this: https://etherex.org/

You know how many exciting smart contracts can be done in ethereum? That can all help bitcoin.

For example decentralized applications based on bitcoin, softwares, or even offchains can be hosted there. Bitcoin can benefit the most from it.
Any smart contract that can be run in Ethereum can be run on top of Bitcoin via rootstock so that's a plus. Bitcoin made a conscious effort to not be Turing-complete no matter how exciting, but secondary protocols certainly can.
1016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 24, 2016, 11:17:29 AM
just 5538 BTC so far? thought this will rocket.......well I guess we will have to wait to the last second whales....

It will rocket if before this ICO ends LISK comes out... if LISK is a success WAVES has no limit
Are you suggesting that people will put their LISK profits into WAVES? It's possible, but with BTC price rising and no altcoin prices going on, it seems that Lisk will likely be released into a bear market, so it may not 'pop' immediately at least. Waves might be entering into a similar period, although 50 days is too long to tell/predict.
1017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 22, 2016, 07:01:43 PM
do you need to be a certain member level on bitcoin talk to be accepted to the waves signature campaign?
You have to be a member rank above before you can join signature campaign and get accepted by the manager. Hope it helps you.
also do I need to sign up to participate in the other campaigns ie newsletter, twitter, etc?
after the ICO you can participate in other campaigns just register to the ICO site.

Thank you! so how many posts do i need to become a member? and should i sign up for the news letter now or wait until ico for full benefits?

It's not a simple post count. Read this thread to learn more about ranks on this forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 22, 2016, 06:07:01 PM
I am curious whether WAVES ICO could be the Lisk ICO. I think so, because it is the far more better concept. Lisk was just a copy (with some improvements of course) of Crypti. WAVES is something completely new.

5500BTC NOW,THAT IS INTERESTING Grin Grin
I guess their goals are different. How are you quantifying "newness" among these projects?

Swift has chosen Hyperledger project, the open-source initiative led by the Linux Foundation...

SWIFT and Accenture outline path to Distributed Ledger Technology adoption within financial services

Getting Hot In Here  Smiley
That's a private distributed ledger. What does it have to do with Waves or cryptocurrencies?
