281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think Ethereum could break $1000 as well? on: March 14, 2018, 03:35:09 AM
I did not realize that this was an old post and reading the post from 1 year ago will just make you smile as their prediction is Ethereum will only hit $200. Well we know what happened.

But for the current price Ethereum is barely moving it just bounces around $670 to $740, right now it is still consolidating. There is a huge possibility that we will reach $900 resistance level within this month.  If we are able to pass that resistance level I can see another pump and we will end up with a new all time high within this year, possibly $2000.
Yeah, people always predict like 2x-10x current price while ETH has gone parabolic.

From current levels though, such 100x returns are going to be extremely difficult just given the size and scale. The valuation already rivals the marketcap of S&P500 companies (I know it is not a 1-1 comparison, but still useful), and another run up like last year would mean a value rivaling the top firms by marketcap in the entire world.

But of course, $2000 is well within reach. Just don't expect 2017 returns all over again.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: March 14, 2018, 02:54:54 AM
last payout from TAAS token was?
Do i only need to hold the taas token in my eth adress? Or is something else to do?
thx for info.

The second payout was more than a dollar per taas and you need to keep the taas on a popular wallet to receive the dividend.I would say go for myetherwallet which is best and reliable.

This was 3rd payout now are into 4th quarter I hope this will be also profitable. I prefer to keep them store into Trezor if someone has goal to hodl this for long term but Myetherwallet not a bad choice if we use this carefully because it demand more responsibility to be aware of phishing sites.

and the date for the 3rd payout was?

Thx for the trezor advise. I thinking about to invest in taas, so there is now no need for a trezor for me Wink

Now TAAS will make payout for 4th quarter and the team will announce about the snapshot date. We will get rewarded only to keep hold this token and just wait for further updates while you can read about previous report.
https://medium.com/@Taas/token-as-a-service-quarterly-report-3c11e89eff01

waiting to drop to 4.6 in order to buy and sell again to 8-10. three such tactics worked, I hope to repeat 4 times going to work before the payments of dividends.
At least someone is making profit off trading TaaS lol, I guess trading profit is much more than dividends.

You can lose your principal in trading. You cannot lose your principal in collecting dividends.

Why so much focus on the price in the videos? Even the introductory video spends a lot of time talking about 'if you invested 1 Bitcoin, you would now have ... ' type of material. I'd rather see the intro video to be professional that talks about the benefits. What I would like to see -
  • How are Sidechains 'better' than other solutions.
  • Why should enterprises choose Stratis over say Private Ethereum
  • How does Stratis differ from other smart contract platforms
  • What are the strengths of Stratis
  • Some examples of how Stratis can be used for businesses

Why are you discussing price in the introductory video?
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Weiss Rates Bitcoin and Other 73 cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin scores C+. on: March 14, 2018, 02:46:23 AM
It is somewhat interesting that the 3 "B" rated coins are platforms for launching smart contracts.  Seems like who ever is behind these ratings is putting a high value in being the payment system behind utility tokens, instead of being a utility token.
That's not their criteria though. They have already release how they are "rating" and on what dimensions.

For example, they give a low rating to Bitcoin on governance, which generally shows they don't understand the first thing about decentralized systems.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 13, 2018, 11:01:59 PM
I am glad to see that he is recovering. Such a strong collapse in the price of such a strong coin looked unfair
These kinds of dips are temporary, ride them out, or better yet, keeping buying the bottoms Wink
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Weiss Rates Bitcoin and Other 73 cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin scores C+. on: March 13, 2018, 10:23:42 PM
Lol! pretty much sure they are not researching those whitepaper and roadmap. Bitcoin should be A++ they don't know technology and real uses. They should have read more articles regarding bitcoin or else people look them as dumb person.
They are doing what makes them money, only masking it as "research".
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is the future of crypto, bitcoin is not. on: March 13, 2018, 06:40:29 PM
I think neither of them is the future tbh and a combination of strong altcoins (different coins for different use cases and or features) will be the future.
Other coins are still dependent on bitcoin/eth etc as an intermediary exchange value, once it becomes easier to convert altcoins to usd (a lot of projects are working on automatic exchanges etc) then there is no reason that a newer coin with a better technical implementation becomes the new standard for a certain use case or feature. Of course it will take some time for that to happen.

Lol good luck with the sea of altcoins that overpromise way too much and underdeliver by a huge amounts. People forget how difficult building the actual technology is. Writing a whitepaper isn't how you build things. Bitcoin has survived in the wild for a long time. Ethereum has its own strengths although less proven adversarially than Bitcoin. A sea of altcoins with shiny whitepapers are not going to replace them.
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Big Problem on: March 13, 2018, 05:46:18 PM
hello
i got a big problem with bitcoin

https://imgur.com/a/6Nh7T
https://blockchain.info/ro/address/1FddgVMA79RUe9yXCFQQ3EXSthgW9pA41d
the address from where i got them never had any transactions
Status: 0/unconfirmed
Date: 11/29/2013 09:01
Credit: 2.41527197 BTC
Net amount: +2.41527197 BTC
Transaction ID: 2bc2be3c54d26edfa11b731896edef9ecc1c1c4ee9da9a22340d88fa59039f71
also the txid dosent exist
and my receiving address is
https://blockchain.info/address/1Wh4bh
that is the address that i have and its working, its showing on blockchain

Seems like a syncing issue. The imgur image that you posted clearly shows that the transactions that you received were not confirmed, they were only pending. My guess is, the fee was too low and they got dropped from the mempool, and therefore the receiving address never actually got any confirmed Bitcoin transactions.

Did you let the client sync with the latest state of the blockchain? If so, you should see those transactions dropping out/being in unconfirmed state.
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 13, 2018, 04:38:28 PM
Apparently after being stolen by hackers, XEM proved that this community is very strong.
I am very happy XEM survived and peaked again  Cheesy
Well, the NEM community is much older than most other crypto communities out there and more resilient. To be fair though, it hasn't peaked yet - it is still far away from the peak.
290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 13, 2018, 03:06:44 PM
%40 stolen XEM laundered as CNN news. So the first dump plan takes us under 2k sat ... now the price going up to find its high but i have a bad feeling about the other %60 will crush the market and panic sellers will not help us ...
I should have bought more XEM during this dump.
If there is another bigger dump in the future, it is definitely good opportunity to buy.
Everyone says this in retrospect after the price has gone up. During the fall, everyone is just fearful. If they didn't buy during this dump, it is very likely that they won't buy during the next, and when the price recovers from that one, they'll say they'll buy the next dump. Rinse and repeat. We've seen this play out many many times in crypto so far.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 13, 2018, 03:49:11 AM
Strat is definitely going under the radar. Might as well buy some while the price is cheap so that my stake at hand would be higher. What is getting me excited about is the first ICO on this platform, GluON.

If GluON will not affect the price stratis? How will this affect your hold strategy?
Well, just to be realistic, just because there's an ICO on Stratis doesn't mean it is a good one. Gluon needs to prove itself in the market and to the community.
292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach 20,000 again on: March 12, 2018, 06:48:36 PM
and the HODL method is just what it is...

Hodling Bitcoin last year returned far greater return than any trader was able to make, I assure you.

Other coins have different stories. The reality is that timing the market is tough, and most traders get their a** handed to them and lose all their money. If you don't believe Bitcoin will hit $20,000 again you should get out for good.

I think bitcoin will surely hit A NEW HIGH up to $20,000 this year. And possibly the recent dumps in the prices of the bitcoins are the reasons that make you feel that this is not gonna happen. But if you see the market trends closely, you will be able to understand and grasp the market knowledge in a better way that will help you make much better and intelligent interpretations.

Sounds like good advice generally, but I'd avoid putting the time span of less than 1 year on any price prediction. If you lived through 2014-2016 you'll know why. Over a longer time period, say 3-5 years, I'd agree with you. People need to learn to be patient with Bitcoin, it never has and never will just go up straight without the downward volatility.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 12, 2018, 06:43:43 PM
As I wrote on twitter I'm expecting a price of $300-$500 per STRAT until the end of the year. The hard-work and real applications will always thrive and offer plenty of rewards to true believers.
https://twitter.com/Cristian_R_Pop/status/973182507171696641

Sounds very ambitious. That's almost 80x from the current prices. We've seen such movements before, but only in an overall extended bull market. That would be hard to predict timing wise.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 12, 2018, 02:38:45 AM
So we see from this articles that SEC consider almost all crypto currencies as securities - i suggest all who are interested further into this topic, that you read them.
The SEC mostly seems to be interested in 'tokens' and not cryptocurrencies in general. They have been very clear, for example, that Bitcoin is not a security.

Some of the stronger indicators of a security are:
1. that the token receives a dividend or part of the profit share of the organization.
2. that the token entitles you to rights should the organization close down and the remainder of funds are distributed to all the token holders.
3. holders of tokens can vote in matters of the orgnaization

None of these indicators are true for Stratis which counts strongly in favor of Stratis being a utility coin. If there are any other more obscure arguments towards a security it would be weak arguments. Stratis will be used to do stuff on the Stratis platform e.g. to pay for creating sidechains or other use cases where it becomes "fuel" or just in general to pay for stuff which counts strongly in favor of being a utility coin.
That's only partly true though. In the US, the Howey Test is applied to determine if something is a security. The aspect of the Howey Test the SEC is going after seems to be the "expectation of profits" clause. It would be hard to know how this pans out, but I would love for one of the ICOs to fight the SEC in court and win to set a precedent.
295  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Just a quick question on the lightning network on: March 12, 2018, 02:36:56 AM
This of the lightning network as the server connected internet or TOR nodes. What's the limitations here? The bandwidth. In lightning network, the 'bandwidth' is the 'value' i.e. the amount of Bitcoin flowing through the network.

There is also information flowing, but that's a trivial amount of data for today's tech. The limiting factor is the amount of Bitcoin that each of the 'nodes' in the network can transmit.

297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach 20,000 again on: March 11, 2018, 11:55:51 PM
People who are talking this way totally lost their hope to bitcoin. Sold at the dip and bought during all time high's. There's no hope for these type of people, no wonder when the price goes up again you are getting out of the scene and I want to know where have you been by those times? I'll go back in this thread if someone up it again when the price is $20,000 or more than by that time and will just laugh on this.
Bitcoin's history is littered with such threads. Each time, it is the same story. Meet back here in 5 years and we'll talk.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to perfectly choose investment. on: March 11, 2018, 08:15:16 PM
What crappy advice is this? Choosing investments based on bounties/bounty managers? Look at the top 10 right now and tell me which ones had a bounty!
299  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Review exel file to find cheaters with all clickable links! on: March 11, 2018, 01:56:21 AM
If I remember correctly, I was given 50 merit for a post, and I suspect that was to allow me to award sMerit to newbies and juniors ( which I have tried to do). Being able to award sMerit is really the only advantage in receiving merit for Heros and Legendaries.

Although it's always nice to know you are appreciated, but a thank you and an expansion of a post might have more value for the forum.
Actually, if you're a Hero Member, you need to have at least 1000 Merit to reach the Legendary Member status, so if you're strictly looking at Merit as a means to 'level up', it still has utility to Hero Members.

However, end of the day, the idea is to influence behavior for the good in the forum, and I think that general sentiment is true even for Hero/Legendary Members. I don't have data on this, but I would be surprised if the quality of posts even for the Hero/Legendary Members hasn't gone up since the introduction of the merit system.

I hope hope picks up some more traction this year. I think NEM has the ability to scale enough for many applications today. I still feel there is work to be done but I have visited their github and they are a active team. Hope to see more this coming year.
Catapult hopefully will get released this year, which could accelerate adoption.

I have no doubt about that. Looking forward to the exchange release at first
What do you mean by exchange release? Do you mean getting NEM on more exchanges?
