The pool has been growing over the time period you've listed.

What does that have to do it?

One block found is one block found. If the pool size is 1, 10 or 1000.

The statistics (and maybe more) is simply wrong.

1282  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [163GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 05, 2012, 11:22:09 AM
Edit: Other than the last 3 days, it's been relatively average. The last three days have been a stinker.

I'd say the last 14 days have been a stinker.

Because if the statistics would be true ("Average time between blocks: 0.42 days" -> which is about 2.4 blocks per day) we should have had days like this:
2
2
3
2
3
2
2
3
2
3

Haven't seen a single 3 block day so far.

So something stinks here. Possibly not only the statistics ...
1283  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [163GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 05, 2012, 10:03:34 AM
Are the statistics of p2pool correct? It says : "Average time between blocks: 0.42 days". Which is about 2.4 blocks per day.

But when I check the blocks that are actually found it's more like 1.3 blocks per day.

See for yourself:

It seems we haven't found a block in almost 24 hours, right?

Is there a way to verify this?

[Edit]: I also noticed: I got my last subsidy payment 4 days ago (30.01.2012). Have they been stopped?
1285  Bitcoin / Mining / Percentile on: January 28, 2012, 09:02:13 PM
Two questions:

1) Has anyone ever made some kind of percentile graph of the big pools (like deepbit, etc.) ?

2) Is there a max. time (or better max. number of operations) until a block will be found for sure (100%). Or could it happen that the time to mine one specific, nasty block could be millions of years?
1286  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 28, 2012, 09:28:13 AM
We are always working on the next block. Smiley Check Bitcoin-QT or bitcoind getblockcount.

How do I do this (-> bitcoind getblockcount) ?
1287  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 28, 2012, 09:07:14 AM
Is there a site for stats for p2pool?

Like
- the actual block we are working on.
- blocks solved history.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoind - how to start graphical frontend on: January 26, 2012, 08:32:34 PM
Unfortunately, stopping bitcoind... well sucks. QT has proven unstable in a mining situation, which is the probable reason for this thread.

Yes, this was exactly the reason Smiley

QT sucks while mining. So I use bitcoind. I just like to have a frontend for it now (to connect to a running bitcoind).
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / bitcoind - how to start graphical frontend on: January 26, 2012, 06:13:15 AM
Hi,

I have bitcoind running (because bitcoin-qt crashed several times when running with p2pool)

Question: How to start a graphical frontend for bitcoind? bitcoind-qt won't run (because it can't get a lock blu bla ...).

What to do?

cheers,
F.

In reply to "Holliday"s post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=61131.msg712520#msg712520):  "What exactly is the problem again?"

The problem is, that - according to the logs - I (we) work on the same block since days. A look at my wallet also confirms that:
http://blockexplorer.com/address/17fLZeWn31xf9wruWa7EpjoCEJtEyvmANQ

I haven't received any BTC since a few days now.

That's why I said: "I think p2pool is not for me. To risky. Or buggy. Or both ..."
1291  Bitcoin / Pools / p2pool - Decentralized, Absolutely DoS-Proof, Pool Hopping-Proof Pool [archival] on: January 25, 2012, 05:51:09 PM
I am using p2pool now since 6 days. The last 4 days it seems "we" are working on the same block.

The logs says: "... Payout if block: 0.35 BTC ...".

So a measly 0.1 BTC / day. And only, if the block is resolved now(ish).

I think p2pool is not for me. To risky. Or buggy. Or both ...

Hi,

how are those cables called that "extend" the PCIe bus (the cables that connect the PCIe slots with the graphics cards).

I didn't know there's such a thing!

cheers,

1293  Other / Beginners & Help / How to get permission to post to other threads? on: January 19, 2012, 08:37:57 PM
Hi there,

what do I have to do to post to the other threads (other than "Newbies").

1294  Other / Beginners & Help / p2pool - good for pool hopping? on: January 19, 2012, 03:25:33 PM
Isn't p2pool not a perfect target for pool hopping?

Since all information is available realtime (when a block was started, my actual share, ...)
1295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: January 19, 2012, 01:03:17 PM
Hi,

I do mining since about 1/2 year now.

I'd LOVE to get permission to post to the other forums - and not just the Newbies forum.

At the moment I am doing a lot with P2Pool mining.

cheers,
F.
1296  Other / Beginners & Help / cgminer - performance drop when setting CPU affinity on: January 19, 2012, 01:01:48 PM
Hi,

sorry for not posting to the correct cgminer thread - but I don't have the permission (yet?).

What I just noticed: I have a 4 core machine. When I set the affinity of cgminer to one core performance dropped by about 10%.

Just wanted to share that ...

cheers,
F.
1297  Other / Beginners & Help / cgminer - slowdown in 2.1.2 on: January 19, 2012, 11:34:58 AM
Hi,

I have 2 x 7970 running on WIn7x64.

After updating from cgminer 2.0.3 to 2.1.2 I lost about 40 per GPU! (10%).

At the same time I also updated from Catalyst 11.6 to 11.12 (because of the 100% CPU load bug).

Now I want to use P2pool mining - but that only works with cgminer 2.1.2.

Is there a way to get the speed from 2.0.3 to 2.1.2? I mean, are there some compiled kernels, bins, etc. that I can simply copy from 2.0.3 to 2.1.2 ?

cheers,
F.
1298  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: run_p2pool.exe crashes Bitcoin on: January 19, 2012, 10:16:44 AM
I just see: I have bitcoin_qt.exe running - but no bitcoind.exe? Is this OK?

I expected that bitcoin_qt.exe would be nothing but the frontend for bitcoind.exe, no? Are those two really two separate applications?
1299  Other / Beginners & Help / run_p2pool.exe crashes Bitcoin on: January 19, 2012, 06:13:54 AM
Hi,

I wanted to try out P2Pool mining, so I installed the newest Bitcoin (0.5.2, but also tried it with 0.5.1)

Unfortunately when I start run_p2pool.exe it immediately crashes my Bitcoin!

My OS: Win7 x64

Any ideas?

cheers,
F.
