The last time I panicked was when bitcoin fell from 12$ to 7$ in a day. And even then I decided not to sell, which was a damn smart thing to do. Weak hands must be shaken out. A lot of people bought into bitcoin because of the last rally and they didn't give a shit about the fundamentals. Those people deserve the heat and the longer it lasts the more will be shaken out.
1283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Street keeps warming up. on: February 05, 2015, 10:13:28 PM
I think it's one thing to put your money on something being successful in the future, and putting money you loaned onto something. Sure, you may end up as the winner, but you may just as well end up on the streets, like... literally.

I personally have never taken any loan because I hate the idea of being indebted. I have always maintained my personal emergency reserves so instead of loaning money I take it from my own reserves. That's why it's a bit hypocritical of me to suggest loaning. However, let every man decide for himself. If a man is destined to be poor then even the best advice in the world won't make him rich. If a man is destined to become rich, then taking risks is the fastest way to success. That so called destiny is nothing final, since it changes as you change yourself. To make a good investment you must first become the kind of guy who does good investments naturally. I believe the particular person who I encouraged to take a loan is on his way to become that kind of guy. He's reading the right books and he is thinking the right thoughts.

TAKE A LOAN AND BUY AS MUCH AS  YOU CAN!

Go to school to get a cheap student loan! You don't actually have to attend school, just get the loan. Buy buy buy!

I know a real person who is going to take some young family loan or whatever to secretly buy bitcoins. It was originally his idea but I obviously encouraged him to do it when I heard of his plans. Fact is that if you don't take risks you won't achieve shit. So, in a sense I am serious but the advice I just gave makes me laugh due to it being utterly irresponsible. I think it's ok to take a loan to buy bitcoins if you can afford to lose them and often cases people won't actually have their fingers chopped if they can't pay back the loan. The world doesn't end. It's worth it to take the chance that appears once in a lifetime.

2000 btc bought on stamp would get us to 240, it would be about half a million $ worth of btc.
1289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Street pump incoming on: January 30, 2015, 11:17:40 AM
wall street have said that they will join bitcoin a long time , but still not see any pump coming

in other hand , coin's price are dumping lower and lower
 Cry

It's obvious that they're buying off exchange. Buying/selling on an exchange is pretty stupid anyway because it leaves permanent traces tied to your identity.

It's obvious? How exactly Hyena? I know that you are into Bitcoin to the level of a religiously devoted man, but some proof now and then would be nice.

To me personally, proof is my own actions Cheesy I prefer to do business off exchange when I need actual fiat toilet paper. Also, it's pretty obvious that a millionaire buying in wouldn't want to do it on exchange due to the slippage. If that isn't obvious to you then there's not much for us to discuss.

1291  Economy / Speculation / Re: As Bitcoin crashes to the abyss altcoins will become independant in price on: January 30, 2015, 09:24:31 AM
This topic is valid because since the October we have some interesting new players such as NuBits and NuShares in the cryptocurrency game. Turns out that both are priced in dollars and market history clearly proves it. For the first time in the history of cryptocurrencies we have coins that go up when BTC goes down. To quote mphs from Peercointalk:
Quote from: mphs
btc can go busted tomorrow and nushare is still holding the same price in usd.

Below is a comparison of BTC vs NBT & NSR charts:

NuShares have been a damn nice hedge against Bitcoin's demise for the past 3 months. What is more, thanks to NuBits I have been able to get out of BTC and into "USD" without having to use Bitstamp at all. Since 1 nubit equals 1 dollar I just buy nubits and instantly transfer them into my wallet to be safe from the exchange hacking threats. Whenever I feel bullish for BTC I just sell the nubits and instantly transfer the bitcoins to my wallet. You can essentially trade BTC/USD with the help of nubits and keep the "USD" in your wallet. Pretty awesome.

No wonder nubits has constantly been the third leading cryptocurrency by it's trading volume for the past several months:

As seen in the age thread, the demographic for BTC is 20-30 year olds, a lot still living with their parents, so they could put tons of fiat they get through work/whatever and put it in bitcoin, they can take huge risks compared to the average family man with an already stablished business. The young middle class guy got nothing to lose, im one of them and id rather risk it, all indicators say fiat currencies will do nothing but lose purchasing power long term anyway.

+1 Cheesy
1293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase announcement on Monday on: January 25, 2015, 02:59:43 PM
I suppose that's the buy signal we are wwaitingfor. Also just recently saw ltc price going up.  Does that in any way connected?

Peercoin also went up significantly lately. From previous big BTC rallies it is known that LTC and PPC rally even greater. When Bitcoin rose 7x, LTC and PPC rallied ~15x. They obviously crashed much harder too. To me the fact that PPC and LTC are rallying shows that bottom is in (152$) and we are approaching the next big bitcoin rally.

1295  Economy / Speculation / Real numbers behind buy/sell walls on: January 24, 2015, 12:08:41 PM
Let's take a look at the buy/sell walls on Bitstamp:

We can see the number of bitcoins we could sell and where it would get the price. We can also see the number of dollars we could spend on buying up all the bitcoins for sale and where it would get the price. However, what we don't see directly from these walls are the real dollars and bitcoins sitting on the exchange. Is there any web service out there that would calculate these numbers for me? From the first glance it seems to me that there is "more money" wishing to buy into bitcoin right now than there is on the opposite side. Can we deduce any valuable trading information from that?
1296  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much wall street money will be pouring into bitcoin now? on: January 24, 2015, 09:03:44 AM
I am observing though, how that may change. The Internet facilitated many things, previously unimaginable. Of particular significance is the massive increase in coomunication potential. I think we are currently living through one of the most significant shifts in cultural evolution *ever*. Consider the normal 'evolutionary' timescale for a species, and then consider the disproportianate speed at which technology has evolved to low us to suddenly be a able to communicate with anyone in the world in any place at any time (thereabouts).

The impact of this will be, I beleive, as obvious and astonishing as the industrial revolution is to today's historians. We are in it now so we can't see it. BTC is just one facet of the integration of man. We're becoming a worldwide nation. Borders must drop. Equality must happen. Monetary equilibrium is one stepping stone. I'm for it, we are all the same. One love.

Great speech!

I don't think the technological aspect of our species can evolve very much longer though. Sure there is room for Tesla's suppressed inventions, anti-gravity based air/space vehicles, time travel, space colonization and conscious computers BUT I think we're approaching the limits of cosmos there. Luckily, some of those higher technological achievements would require us to acknowledge the power of consciousness and will hopefully lead to new endeavours --- the everlasting battle for our personal awareness.
1297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss launching "Gemini" serving bitcoin to wall street on a golden plate on: January 23, 2015, 11:50:54 PM
Looks like a very interesting venture. They seem really interested in Bitcoin. Not only the ETF, but also an exchange... I'm impressed, really! Even if their projects don't go to the moon instantly, it's important to have the vehicles ready as soon as the money starts to flow!

You mean the rocket?
1298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss launching "Gemini" serving bitcoin to wall street on a golden plate on: January 23, 2015, 11:13:00 PM
What do you people think: Do the twins already know the day their fund goes online or are they just as oblivious as anyone of us is? They could time the release of their projects in order to generate the "biggest bang possible" and boost their products.

They could even lie to the media spreading FUD so that they could buy up cheap coins.
1299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss launching "Gemini" serving bitcoin to wall street on a golden plate on: January 23, 2015, 10:21:02 PM
Does the fact that the Winklevosses are setting up an exchange suggest that their ETF application is not going to be approved? A fully licensed and regulated exchange could serve as an on-ramp for institutional investors.

From their blog:

Quote
Over the past two and a half years, we have spent a great deal of time educating ourselves and others about Bitcoin; investing in bitcoin; investing in Bitcoin-related companies; filing an S-1 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission to create the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust (an ETF focused on bringing bitcoin investment exposure to main street investors) which will list on NASDAQ; and launching a bitcoin price index called WinkDex that will price our ETF (online, iPhone, Android).

Interesting. Should we take that literally or as optimistic boilerplate?

We should take it like this:
