1281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bnb is cheaper faster then eth and btc on: December 12, 2020, 05:03:30 PM
There's so many cheap and fast altcoins and they are all cheaper than ETH and BTC.

Fast and cheap does not mean valuable. So many cheap and fast coins are now dead and were delisted from exchanges. If you're about cheap and fast why BNB? Why not XRP or EOS, or Stellar? They are all super fast.

Value is in utility, acceptance, recognition, not just transaction speed.
1282  Economy / Economics / Re: EU reality and challenges. on: December 12, 2020, 04:52:55 PM
I don't like what the EU is doing when it comes to trying to equalize countries when it comes to emission norms for cars, CO2, garbage disposal, use of GMO products, but failing every time to equalize wages and prices of goods and services.

How could the EU equalize the price for goods and how would this equalization work?
Do you want to pay the same prices for a hotel in Amsterdam as in Bucharest? Should Hungarians pay the same price on gas as the Dutch?
You're mistaken norms with taxes, for example, yes the EU has indeed emissions norms for cars but the taxes on cars are different from country to country. We don't have the same annual tax even in the same country what about the EU!

This is where the issue lies. I'm against equalization in any form.

If you don't want to pay for a hotel in Bucharest what people pay in Amsterdam, why should people in Bucharest, who have less clean energy than the Dutch and more coal-based power plants have the same CO2 emission limits?

Taxes are still different but I feel like they are increasing more rapidly in the Eastern Europe due to EU regulations.
1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin FAILED? on: December 12, 2020, 04:44:50 PM
Due to the increased price of bitcoin, it has turned to be the plaything of the elite.

The fundamental issue is that it has not!

Long time ago you could afford 10 bitcoins with ease but you still had a very small value in those 10 coins. If you could afford to spend 10 thousand dollars on Bitcoin 4 years ago and you are able to spend the same amount now, you're still in the same position because the elites could spend 10 million then and 10 million now. Back then the same 10 million gave them even more coins which meant even greater influence over the market.

They could influence it 5 years ago and they can do it now. Thinking that the elites weren't playing with it years ago is naive.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin FAILED? on: December 11, 2020, 11:28:23 PM
nothing that hard fork can't fix

And end up like BCH? No thank you.

The TS is making some valid points although i don't agree with all the statements, but i feel most respondents simply trying to protect their investments in bitcoin. Hodlers don't want anyone asking too many questions it seems  Wink

You're misjudging us. We don't defend Bitcoin in threads because we want to protect our investments. We have investments because we believe in it, so it's natural for us to defend something we believe in.
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week on: December 11, 2020, 11:09:09 PM
It's a great idea especially when you have limited money and once you spend it on Bitcoin you can't afford to buy smokes.

In reality, 10 years from now, you will be able to say that you bought yourself a nice new home instead of feeding cancer.

Keep us posted with some statistics. Put it in a wallet and in a few months post us a screenshot of how much it's worth.
Maybe people will see that saving up is worth it, especially when you're saving up on your addiction.
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A friendly reminder on: December 11, 2020, 10:57:16 PM
I agree with OP that those who buy today will profit in future.

I don't think Bitcoin will die and if it doesn't die it will go through bull cycles and bubbles just like it often did in the last 10 years. This means that if you buy at 18000 or 17000, it doesn't really matter that much because Bitcoin will go 3x from here in the next years. We just don't know when.

Maybe you'll have to wait 5 years to profit, but you will profit.
1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin proved it once again on: December 11, 2020, 10:48:28 PM
It's a well known fact that altcoins follow Bitcoin and the weakest altcoins drop the most when Bitcoin does it.

People choose altcoins over Bitcoin usually because they think they can't afford a full bitcoin so there's no reason to hold it, which is stupid, or because they are expecting much greater volatility.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will never replace fiat cash. on: December 11, 2020, 10:39:40 PM
A coin everyone mints at the same rate will.  It will also replace bitcoin and all of the shitcoins.

So you're a socialist and think everyone should get the same. How are you going to distribute a coin equally among all the people?

People tried these things before like when they created Auroracoin in Iceland and it did not work well. Its price dropoped from something like 50 USD to 0.3 USD in a few weeks.
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who has held bitcoin for more than 5 years? on: December 09, 2020, 10:13:33 PM
I don't understand what your topic means? Very few people will be able to hold Bitcoin for more than 5 years because if Bitcoin increases, people will sell it to make a profit instead of holding it for so long.

You're wrong.

Many people held for much longer because they're not after a small profit. You probably don't have a lot of money so it's hard for you to understand but people who make 100 thousand USD a year are not so crazy about selling their coins every time they go up 10%. They're more interested in the safety that cold storage gives them.

I don't have a lot of money but held my bitcoins for 4 years and did not sell them when we touched 20 thousand this year.
1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Millennials Are Twice As Likely To Buy Bitcoin Than Gold on: December 09, 2020, 10:02:34 PM
Millenials are more likely to buy bitcoin than gold for the same reason why I do.

I don't know where to buy physical gold safely. I also read that you have to pay premium if you want to buy physical gold compared to average gold prices on the market. These prices are based on gold shares. Physical gold which would be the only one for me is more expensive so not really worth it. With Bitcoin there's no real and unreal unless you hold it on exchanges then it's really not your bitcoin just like gold in shares is not your gold.

1291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your opinion on bitcoin holder tax from Indian government Income Tax on: December 09, 2020, 09:47:49 PM
There is no tax to pay unless you sell it. If I earn 1 bitcoin how are they going to make me pay tax on that? I am not converting it to fiat and will make purchases in bitcoin. They will probably want you to do the following.

1 btc = $20000 and you pay 30% tax to $6000 tax. These clowns are saying you need to pay fiat tax on that 1 btc? >.< Hahaha How can I pay tax on something the people have given value to?

The US government also wants you to sell and pay them in fiat. If you bought ETH and sold it for BTC and then that BTC pumped you got profit and should give them some of it even if it means selling.

I know this is stupid but if you don't agree with it you can always take your coins and move abroad.

30% is too much I would never pay that and would rather hide my coins or leave the country.
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World Map of Bitcoin Legality on: December 09, 2020, 09:28:51 PM
It's great to see so much green on the map.

I thought Russia is going to be shown as restricted with all the talks by Putin how only Rubble is acceptable for payments.

Even if you ask google you'll get this:

Quote
Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Moiseev said in September 2017 it's "probably illegal" to accept cryptocurrency payments. However, bitcoin market sites are blocked, and court decisions state that bitcoin is a currency surrogate which is outlawed in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Despite that Russia has the same color as Germany or Estonia where you can pay using Bitcoin and register exchanges.
1293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Seems like the bullrun is over this year! on: December 09, 2020, 12:35:30 AM
Bitcoin is still stuck at $ 18500 strong support, and trying to get back up to $ 20k,
is it over? for me it's still early days, it's better this way, because the sudden increase will be a disaster, like 2017

The low at this point is around 18300 on bitstamp, even if we measure only candles and ignore wicks.

We can go lower and we will. Maybe not today but I'm petty sure we're going to reach real low support of 13000 somewhere in the coming weeks and it's still going to be bullish. As long as we're not setting up new lows every week the bull market is on the right track to a new high. People made so much money that it would be foolish of them not to bet on a correction.
1294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could There Be One World Digital Currency? on: December 08, 2020, 09:52:47 PM
No I don't think there will be a single world currency ever.

A group of countries could decide to form a union and use the same digital currency just like the EU did with Euro but even some of the Eu states broke the agreement and continued to use their own currencies. Making whole world decide on a common goal would require an extraterrestrial threat.
1295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Learn from my curiosity on: December 08, 2020, 09:24:16 PM
There's a number of things these scammers do.

One of them is of course avoiding questions but it's also common for them to ban you for asking about stuff. They will never try to prove anything and instead will tell you that if you don't like it you don't have to invest.

Congratulations on staying away and avoiding this mine.
1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This latest move by the US Lawmakers can kill Stablecoins but not Bitcoin ??? on: December 08, 2020, 08:17:24 PM
This is stupid. Why does a coin need a banking license if it's not holding fiat money or exchanging fiat money in any way. All the exchanging is done on exchange platforms and if someone is to require any licenses it's them.

Many countries tried such regulations but legislation is long and slow and the bill is going to get changed along the way. I don't think it's going to get approved straight up, if ever.
1297  Economy / Economics / Re: EU reality and challenges. on: December 08, 2020, 08:07:00 PM
I don't like what the EU is doing when it comes to trying to equalize countries when it comes to emission norms for cars, CO2, garbage disposal, use of GMO products, but failing every time to equalize wages and prices of goods and services. It's like they're trying for the media and to ease the public opinion but never really doing anything that helps the average citizen.

It's all based around big banking and big money. You can see the EU has no ideas of its own and is always trying to follow the US with monetary policies and inside it's the better and the worse union with Germany and France trying to be the ruling states all the time.

I think that if a big bank is losing money all the time it should not be bailed out. The market should decide on its own whose services are needed or not.
1298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using a lower bitcoin denomination: Which side are you on? on: December 06, 2020, 09:56:37 PM
I have always stated that Satoshi is not suitable as a sub-unit of Bitcoin. In the distant future, if Bitcoin hits $1 million per coin, then Satoshi will be worth $0.01 and can be used as a subdivision of BTC. But right now, its value is just $0.0002, and using this small unit causes a lot of inconvenience. I would rather go for mBTC, although it's value is a bit higher for my liking.

For now satoshis would be hard to use for me.

I used to use whole bitcoins and mBTC when we were at 3000 USD per coin and I don't feel like at 20 those units became unusable or irrelevant in any way.

I'd ask those who say that we suddenly need to use smaller denominations why do they feel like they have to do it now? We used to be at 20 thousand before and people used BTC and mBTC. What's changed?

Maybe if we approach 100 thousand one day this conversation will have a point but I feel like it's still too early and if units of account were not a problem 2 months ago they shouldn't be a problem now.
1299  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you cover your paperwallet? on: December 06, 2020, 09:47:42 PM
Hello I had collection paperwallet.

Does your guys have suggest to do cover paperwallet?

Does laminating it's good idea? I'm not sure about it, might that's could force the security password.

Sorry for not good language, wish you guys understand what's my point and reason why I've not good language.
Do not use laminating because the words can be very blurry to read, I suggest finding a safe box with key combinations to store such paper wallets or find a strong book and write the paper wallet recovery seed in between the book, I do this all the time

Are you sure about that? Are you speaking from experience? Lamination is a good way to protect paper from unintentional spills or greasy fingers.

All my documents are laminated and none of them are blurry. If it happens you can always cut the edges of the plastic with scissors and remove the plastic.

Nobody says that OP has to use a size 5 font for the seed.
1300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I want to play poker online on: December 06, 2020, 09:22:15 PM
I want to play poker with worthy opponents. I've tried a lot of venues, I don't know where to get good ones and what people would have with money. Or it's not interesting to play with the poor. Maybe you know where to play?

If you're good at it and you certainly seem like a confident person, you can try to participate in a tournament. I'm sure you'll find a lot of worthy opponents there. Just google "free poker tournament" and you'll find a lot of it.

One of the places where you can play a poker tournament with bitcoin is Jetwin. I remember they were given bonuses to your every bitcoin deposit but the promos change every few weeks, you have to check it out yourself.
