New settings, stock hashrates went up a bit, as well as modded ones, from both the settings and more edits:

280X: 23.98% gain (2.21MH/s to 2.74MH/s)
290X: 29.92% gain (2.64MH/s to 3.43MH/s)

Wha intensity is that on?

My 290X gets 2.75 MH/s on 21

My new intensity is 23 - I tried 22, 23 seems to work a bit better. Worksize 64, TC 8192.
All I did was -I 21 and I got higher than you? Weird. My card was the bf4 edition.

I have a shitty ref card that does less given identical settings as another non-ref 290X, so idk what it is.
Ah. Mine broke a while ago because of a vanity gen. I think you posted in my thread. Anyway now when I mine I get a ticking sound. Actually I think you posted in my thread on the ticking sound. Maybe both. Smiley

I also get the ticking/high pitched sound when I play high end games such as GTA IV on ICE. (ICEnhancer) Wink

Got +10% - 11% +15.20%. Working the lazy way right now, going for easy pickings, not the big stuff.
Nice work. If you work on the big stuff will you get a big increase or only 5% or something?

I'll likely get a massive increase then, but it's a lot of work that I don't feel like doing right now.

~19.70% on 290X (2.64MH/s to 3.16MH/s).
Ok. Great job in the extra 5%!

26.89% on 290X now - 2.64 to 3.35...

If only I knew kernel programming ;-; (if thats what it is even called).

Once you know C, basic OpenCL mods aren't hard at all. For more advanced GPU dev, it often requires a different way of thinking than CPU dev in C.

I'm ok at Python 2, still gotta learn C here. Maybe one day Cheesy

I know lua and I should probably start learning C too.

I don't understand what stops pools from signing the blocks with one address regardless who found the block and credit miners based on the hashrate counted i.e. pseudo-shares?

They can. The thing is, the miners can also steal blocks, because to hash, they must prove the ability to spend the coinbase tx.

Got it, since miners must submit the blocks with the same private key. Very interesting.

Hey guys, would it be possible to create a pool like this;

Each miner mines to a separate address. The pool (and the miner obviously) knows the private key.
The pool has insurance of lets say, 15 spr in a separate address for each miner. The insurance needs to be paid by the miner before he starts mining.

The miner submits shares and once he finds a block he publishes it to the network.

If the miner steals coins from his address then he gets banned from the pool and the pools uses his insurance to pay the other miners.

Could this work? Or is it not possible because it isn't how mining works for spreadcoin?

 this is quite possible, but if the miner finds say, 3 blocks in a row, he can still "steal" them and have a proffit. So the value os the "insurance" should be how much you can mine in the time a block takes to mature. Say, it matures in 100 blocks, "insurance" would have to be at least 660.0 SPR. That would make most people avoid pools...
If he finds 6 blocks in a row he can double spend. So maybe insurance should be 40 spr. Which isn't hard to get.

:/

Hey guys, would it be possible to create a pool like this;

The problem here is that if you will find a block and will not try to steal its reward pool can still claim that you are trying to steal it and use both your funds and block reward. For external observer it is not possible to distinguish between situations when you are trying to steal money and when pool operators are just lying about this. Even if pool is operated by some legally registered entity with non anonymous owners they can steal your money and you wouldn't be able to prove anything.

If you cannot find blocks consistently but are still mining that means that even one block's reward worth something for you.

What is -gen option?
  -gen                   Generate coins (default: 0)
Is this solo mining related or what?

Solo shitty CPU mining.

Oh, so basically the feature description is "Start mining on wallet start"?..
Yep. Only use that if you want to slow down your computer. Smiley

I think we should make a page in Spreadcointalk with the vector logo, fonts etc, images etc. for people to use when designing stuff.

Awesome. Can you do that?

If you put everything together in a thread, I will put your thread in the "important links" section.

I made a PDF file in Illustrator (vector). I want to make a page in SpreadCoinTalk but how can I share this file? (imgur must be .jpg.)

Unfortunately I don't know the answer but I do love how you've made "negatives" if you know what I mean.
1330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can I mine with my RIG these days? on: January 19, 2015, 07:54:22 AM
Mine Spreadcoin. It is the most profitable coin right now. It is solo mineable only so you may go without blocks for a while but it will be worth it! Smiley

Plus, the dev is adding masternodes soon so the price should skyrocket.

It uses a different algo called SpreadX11. You can read the whitepaper here.

Ok i'm trying to render my massive blender water simulation. It's taking 2 minutes for each frame (25 samples) I have 1000 frames. Does anyone have a render farm by any chance? Because I need one.

edit: Nevermind I just restarted blender and it's fast again. 25 secs now.

Do you have an nvidia GPU? Set it to use CUDA if you haven't already.
http://qgv6y6drlr2sy3es4blouyvd9.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2012/11/enable_GPU_rendering.png
No I have AMD.

I need to cd into the blender directory and;

Code:
set CYCLES_OPENCL_TEST=ALL
start blender

I tried to make a .bat file that does it but it doesn't seem to have worked properly. The option to use the GPU to render was there but it went super slow. Maybe it was using my CPU's GPU. Cheesy

Btw now i'm rendering at 100 samples. 50 sec/frame. F that, 10 samples.

Do you know how I can accept incoming connections? Do I need to portforward and change something in the .conf file?

Depends on your setup, I didn't have to do anything at all, just put the usual lines in the config file, stick 1000 (t)DRK in one lump into a new address in-wallet, wait for 15 confirmations, and 'masternode start <wallet-passphrase>'

My darkcoin.conf looks like this, if you're curious:
Code:
testnet=1
rpcuser=me
rpcpassword=meme
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
logtimestamps=1
maxconnections=256
addnode=23.23.186.131
masternode=1
externalip=x.x.x.x:19999
masternodeprivkey=93VPyfxazrm1fR2JQuqgP8RWsfCbBMDUuxgW1BgWqPtzgAM4yvT

MN just been paid BTW, definitely works. I'm going to change the IP again and see what happens but I'm confident.

Darkcoin's testnet is free to use... Wink  - give it a try!
Awesome. What is externalip?
and what is the port for Spreadcoin?
How much testnet drk for a masternode?
How did you get the masternodeprivkey? Private key? why did you post it? Ah well, it guess it is the testnet.
1336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 18, 2015, 08:40:28 PM
I was thinking that the problem with a dynamic ip is that when it changes you'll need to wait another 2 days (or whatever) to get accepted as a masternode again. But I assume Mr. Spread will make it so that your masternode key is remembered.

I'm testing whether a Darkcoin Masternode actually needs a static IP. Just fired one up on testnet from my laptop. (Using the QT client, georgem! Smiley)

I think that once the masternodeprivkey has been generated, linking the controlling wallet to that 1000DRK vin, that's all the network cares about, if the MN IP changes it should still broadcast itself as a MN and be accepted as one. You shouldn't lose your place in the payment queue unless your MN is offline for over an hour, 71 minutes or something I believe.

I could of course be completely wrong.  Cheesy

edit: OK, fired up the MN, checked that it appeared in the masternode list on another testnet MN I have running on a VPS elsewhere, then disconnected the home MN from one ISP and reconnected via another. debug log shows masternodey activity continuing but masternode list on remote VPS MN still lists my home MN with the previous IP. I will leave it a while and see how it goes. Proof will be it recieving a payment in due course...

edit2: Found this in debug.log:"2015-01-18 19:57:27 receive version message: /Satoshi:0.10.17.16/: version 70051, blocks=94034, us=146.156.164:19999, them=108.61.203.206:19999, peer=107.191.48.59:47354" - local MN is definitely still functioning as a MN after the IP switch.  Smiley
Great news! Ok, i'm glad I won't need to use a VPS.
I hope to set up a masternode really early so that I get a lot of payments before others have got theirs setup. Smiley

Bear in mind that just because it may be possible, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

With the 1 IP per MN requirement, it's going to be cheaper to rent X VPS instances than rent X IP addresses from your ISP, and those VPS instances are almost certainly going to have faster and more reliable connectivity than your domestic connection.

And you can rent VPS's without having to sign up for any kind of contract... good luck getting your ISP to plumb you in an extra ten IP's for a few bucks a month without having to sign up for a big upfront cost and a 6/12 month contractual obligation to keep paying.

It is, however, nice to have the option. Smiley
I'm only going own one masternode so that isn't a problem. Smiley

Mr. Spread, someone posted about your recent masternode revelations in the Darkcoin thread and the lead developer responded.  I just thought it would be worth you seeing: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg10197711#msg10197711

If a individual hosted his MN from home and it will unstable, he would lose out on income.

This would be soon sorted out if that individual becomes financially hit.

Ofcourse Evan want's to see solid reliable servers, but this can be achieved at home!
Do you need to wait a long time before your masternode is accepted into the network?

Hopefully when i'm running my masternode it won't be unstable. Well, at least more stable then bitcoincloud.eu which seemed to either crash every day or two or auto-restart for no apparent reason. Don't use them.

Guys, is it possible to say "this is my masternode's ip"? because I want to use no-ip.org which gives you a static ip. But it is actually just a redirect type thing. (i don't know what it's called)

So yeah, can I run a masternode from my (dynamic ip) house like this?
Initial masternode implementation will not require you to have a static IP. Instant transactions simply don't require this: someone broadcasts transaction, masternode receive this transactions, sign it and broadcasts this signature, there is no need for anyone to directly connect to masternodes. Nodes will monitor time delays between receiving transactions and confirmations from masternodes and will assign scores for each masternode according to these delays. This score and deposit amount will affect which masternodes will receive payments.

What is actually important here is not a whether your IP address is static or dynamic but whether or not you can accept incoming connections. I want to make it optional in the future so that if your masternode can accept connections you will broadcast your IP address, if your IP address is dynamic then you will just broadcast another message to announce your new address. Both initiator of transaction and masternodes want to confirm transaction as fast as possible and initiator will be able send transaction directly to required masternodes, since this will decrease delays between transactions and confirmations masternodes which can accept connections will be valued higher.

Requiring masternodes to have static IPs and accept connections makes network more centralized because many people will run their masternodes on hostings like Amazon, we don't want many of our masternodes to be located in the same datacenter, right? Possibility to rebroadcast your address fixes this at least partially because you don't need to have static IP and may be able to accept connections on your home computer (this depends on your ISP).
Thanks for the reply!

How do I enable incoming connections? I know how to port forward, do I need to?

Edit:
 My computer has been on all day and I just looked at the wallet and I have 51 connections! Cheesy Does that indicate anything?
