1361  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-25] Crypto Lending Platform YouHodler Exposes Millions of Privacy Recor on: July 26, 2019, 05:40:52 AM

This is a serious data breach suffered by this company and this exposed many users to data thievery and illegal use of the same for whatever purpose. This and more is some of the  many inherent weaknesses and risks that we are all undergoing whenever we are using a centralized platform. And unfortunately, this is not the first nor will be the last. Soon we can be hearing of even bigger and more widespread data breach exposing identification and details of millions of people. As of now, there is no solid solution that can tackle this threat as hackers are always two steps ahead of technologies they can utilize.

1363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sites for lending of eth on: July 25, 2019, 02:53:41 PM
Without collateral and kyc, nobody will borrow you ETH, it's very unreasonable thing to be done, if such platform do exist it will be unsustainable for long, you can't find any project like that.

I agree. Nobody in his right mind will ever extend a loan for someone who has no collateral at hand. There are now many programs offering something like a "loan" but one must deposit digital assets into their platform to be granted the loan. The main idea here is that you still own the digital asset (like Bitcoin or Eth) even if you received some value against them (most likely in the form of USDT which you can then convert to real cash).
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You can't prove if someone is Holding Bitcoins | Indian Crypto Ban on: July 25, 2019, 02:44:13 PM

Those people who drafted this proposed bill are just stupid and they are using their traditional mindset and experience for the proposed ban. The law if passed can be a laughingstock because even in China right now I think the government has already accepted the fact that determining if someone has Bitcoin can be a big futile and inutile endeavor. It is impossible to enforce it not unless the government will be assigning a security escort to each and everyone. I am then hoping that they withdraw this bill and never allow themselves to be victimized by wrong notions and biases in this modern age of digitalization and information. This can set India so backward and future generations will be regretting of the lost opportunities allowed to slipped out of the hands of many good and innovative Indians.
1365  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-25] Future President of European Central Bank Would Greatly Alter The A on: July 25, 2019, 02:37:17 PM

Well, we are all hoping that the lady can be able to influence many other leaders in the Eurozone to finally embrace cryptocurrency and in exchange for that adopt strict regulations to allay their fears unfounded or not. Europe can be an important player in the world of cryptocurrency and there are now small countries which decided to open up their locations for the industry as they are seeing a great opportunity not to be missed. The road towards open cryptocurrency markets within the European countries is still a long way to go but we are always glad to see some positive developments on this aspect.

1371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bakkt physically-settled bitcoin futures a dead born baby? on: July 23, 2019, 07:46:04 AM

The excitement surrounding the Bakkt platform was too much on hypes right from the very start and when it failed to launch as scheduled many people just lose interest with this. Now, having said that, the best gauge on this will always be the market or the volume of business it will get once the platform is fully open to the public. Sadly, there is a big possibility that the Bitcoin market will not anymore be reacting to this positively as its effects were already factored in many months ago. Still, I am wishing Bakkt the best and more power!

1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN HACKS, FUTURE HACKS (hopefully this helps you be a safer user) on: July 23, 2019, 04:25:48 AM
Quote
A lot of people think 2FA is 100% safe, It is not.  Hackers can call up your phone companies and steal your sim card and number, some can spoof your own number. Do not have faith in 2FA on exchanges, it has been proven it is not safe 100`s of times now. I believe the best way to store bitcoins may be a hotwallet with a password mixer on your own computer not attached to the internet, but I think cold wallets may be good to. Sure some 2FA`s help, but it is not 100% secure. You probably want to use Linux to, not windows or apple shit or whatever horrid OS your phone is running on.

As proven in the case of the Binance hack, the 2FA security platform is not anymore safe as hackers have already gotten the advanced steps that can be taken to counter this option. This is the reason why some are already talking about 3FA but of course this can be the necessary burden we have to take just to feel that we are secured. Sadly, hackers are ahead of the game and with the resources they already hoarded and the technologies at their disposal, I am sure that hacking will be here to stay and they can be successful with rich targets from time to time. Exchanges should always be on guard as hackers are just waiting to make a big strike anytime.

1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Cryptocurrency? on: July 23, 2019, 04:12:26 AM
Not Bitcoin?

Nope. Bitcoin is just the first one that actually became decently successful and actually gained recognition everywhere. Most people just haven't heard of the past attempts for a global currency just because they weren't successful.

Read this: https://www.investopedia.com/tech/were-there-cryptocurrencies-bitcoin/

What made bitcoin survive is that it is decentralized. There is no central point which can be attacked and shut down.

Past attempts to create a digital currency all failed because they were not decentralized and/or because they couldn't solve double spending.

Nicely said. Good to see some lessons from the past history of cryptocurrency. Right now, when we talk about cryptocurrency the standard is of course Bitcoin and anything that is centralized like the newcomer Libra or even the Ripple we usually can say that those are not at par and should not be compared with Bitcoin with some even saying that those are not cryptocurrencies at all.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian government appointed committee proposed draft bill might get approved on: July 23, 2019, 03:54:40 AM

I think it is quite safe to assume that the Indian government as a whole do not really see the advantages to its economy the possible recognition of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency generally so there are proposal of banning it and possible consequences of owning digital assets. This is a very sad turn of event because obviously these political leaders are so absorbed with themselves and they forget to see what other countries like Japan and South Korea had done on this aspect. Years from now when new leaders will replace the present ones, I am sure they will be shaking their heads in disbelief because previous leaders failed to seize the opportunity and allowed themselves to be convinced by wrong information and one-sided biases against cryptocurrency. I am wrong in assuming that India is known to be a country of innovation and advanced thinking.
1377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Virgin Bitcoin the Most in-Demand Crypto on: July 23, 2019, 03:47:39 AM

This is indeed very interesting. Naturally, money launderers will opt to use Bitcoin which is untainted or having no transaction history yet though, of course, we could not be sure if this can really be effective in helping them avoid tracking. As for me, I don't care how many transactions my Bitcoin got into the most important thing is that I have some in  my wallet.
1378  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-12] $2.28 Billion - Estimated loss caused by Crypto Crimes on: July 22, 2019, 03:15:25 AM

There is no argument that hacking has become the greatest threat to many cryptocurrency exchanges and even with all of us who are into cryptocurrency but have not yet decided to buy the hardware wallet. Hacking has then become one of the largest industries in the entire world and with all the resources and talents that hacking organization already established so far, we can expect more and more attempts to hammer on exchanges -- with the potential prize of money so huge. We have to accept that in this internet-connected world we are, this is the biggest risk we can all face. We should be demanding and wishing that newer technologies can be able to stop this threat soon.
1379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you think Bitcoin will be by the end of [insert time here]? on: July 22, 2019, 02:59:26 AM

For example, I think the price of bitcoin will be higher than it is now by the end of 2019. Share your thoughts here. All are welcome.

One of the many exciting fixtures of this industry is the propensity to make predictions or projections...and while there are some who adopted the prophet-of-doom mode there are so many others who are evangelizing the very positive aura that Bitcoin is going to be worth a lot than a house and lot later. Getting into the predicting game can really be exciting and this can be a good measure of how people are looking into the future with Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for that matter.

Personally, I am predicting that before the year 2019 ends, we can be able to reach at least the $18K level if not the $20K level but the bigger growth of Bitcoin is really reserves for the year 2020 where the halving can occur and where many fundamental changes this year can be manifesting their fruits or results.
1380  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Blockchain Projects in Northeast Asia can change the economy? on: July 22, 2019, 02:40:51 AM
Link Project, ICON Project, Klaytn in Japan and South Korea are starting their business. How these projects can change the local economy? Carry protocol and Contents protocol can be a good example for this.

The global economy is now transitioning into the world of digital and these projects you are mentioning here are pioneering on this aspect. The impact of these projects for the economy of the countries where they are based can be felt in years to come and with this trend going stronger we should be expecting more and more players in this field. Just in the Industrial Revolution, we are now in the true Digital Revolution with the blockchain technology and cryptocurrency changing the face of many industries. The influence of new technologies and protocols will be changing the very fabric of the economy and even the society in general.
