Newby question. I've been mining with Eligius for a month now. How come it went from a 3-1/2 day payout, fairly consistently, to now a 5-1/2 day payout? Is that just the luck of the pool for now or is there another explanation. I noticed it happened around the time of this last difficulty increase.

Yes, the difficulty increase means that it takes that much longer for you to hit your threshold.  Unless you build up your hashrate to keep up with the difficulty increases, your payouts will become less and less frequent, if you keep your payout threshold the same.

I saw absolutely no change from any of the other difficulty increases. And since we theoretically have the same amount of miners hashing away, makes no sense that it should take now 2-1/2 days longer?

The network difficulty is a measure of how much mining is occurring on the entire network.  You are competing with all of them.  As difficulty rises, your profits drop.  In the course of 1 year, Avalon ASIC miners went from about 5 BTC / day to not paying for the electricity they use.

Yep, I totally agree with you - My losses totalled then 1 BTC - which is documented here a few pages back. My point which seems to have gone over most peoples heads is there are scum still taking former CoinEX.PW traders for a ride by promising here in the forum topic that they can help recover the lost funds (a scam within a scam).  That's the *why* I'd like this topic blocked, not to gloss over what happened, other topics are locked, I'm just asking why can't this one be locked too?

I searched for "recover lost funds" and did not find such a posting.  Can you point to one?

Deleted your previous posts have you?

Scam within a scam...

Me?  How surprising.  If you are thinking about this post, it has not been deleted, and I don't understand how you view it as a scam.  If I remember correctly, both of us were mining DEM on coinex the last day the pool was operational.

Every withdrawal attempt gets the notification "address invalid", even though the addresses I try to withdraw to are valid.

I have helped some people withdraw DEM.

can you tell me how can you help withdraw Huh?

i make withdraw and now

status is
BTC withdrawal queued a day ago

my balance is 0 and there is no  money on destination adress Sad

I deposit DEM, then notify the people.  They are able to withdraw then.
For example, I deposited 2,048 DEM on 2014-05-14.

If you try to withdraw when the wallet is empty, your funds go into the queue.  Some people claim that they remain stuck.

Here is another post.  It is also not deleted.

Just to verify what was posted: I,too, managed to convert to emark (dem) and withdraw these to cryptsy.
DEM wallet on coinex seems to be working.
I might have lost some percent, and I'm still not sure if there are amounts in open orders I can't see.

But still, there's a chance to get some value back.

I mined DEM and advertised that they could be withdrawn about 3 weeks ago.  Later, the pool & wallet stopped working.  Can you give a time & date when you made a successful withdrawal?

So where are the DEM coming from atm? I tried mining DEM a few weeks ago and the pool was dead.

Why would you want to remove the thread unless you are the one they are looking for?

There should be a Bounty on these and all hacker thieves. Like corrupt government
scum they do it because they know they can get away with it.  Nobody is going to
do shit about it.

I agree that the scum should be hunted down, what I was meaning was there are trolls using this forum to advertise they can somehow keep using CoinEx.pw eg buy our alt coin and we'll look after you.

No.  This forum needs to be removed and one headed "*avoid* coinex.pw scam" be started in it's place.

I thought you wanted to remove the thread.  As in delete everyone's posts.  I didn't understand that you only wanted it locked.

Scannig hand 4 times and providing id info, this is just ridiculous. There should be an option to scan face automatically via the atm machine.

I think this will repel people.

This is a one (1) time only thing, to set up the AML/KYC documents.  It is not part of any transaction.

146  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 24, 2014, 01:18:15 PM
Can some one help take a look at my logs. Something is wrong. Getting 0 GH/s. Help will be rewarded BTC.

Finally got my rig connected to the pool. But now it does not seem to be mining. Why is MHS5sec = 0.

I notice that match_work 17-32 are all 0, and some of the match work 1-16 are also 0.  The screen shot shows a lot of HW errors.

When you mention "finally got it connected" I think perhaps the unit has never worked in your possession, so perhaps it was recently shipped.

The Avalons seemed to have a lot of reports of connections becoming loose during shipping.  You might open the case and reseat everything.

Also, since it is reporting HW failure, I would set the frequency to a low value.  I can't tell if this is an Avalon 1 or an Avalon 2.  The 282 MHz value is too high for an Avalon 1.

148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: do bitcoin ATMs really suck this much? on: August 23, 2014, 05:49:42 PM
This same ATM was at the Texas Bitcoin Conference the week before SXSW.  I used this very machine.

As the video shows, there are two steps to exchanging Bitcoin and Fiat in any bank or money exchange setting.

1.  Verifying identity and KYC/AML registration.

2.  Exchanging fiat & BTC.

This vending machine lets both processes take place.  The registration is, of course, tedious no matter where you go.

At this vending machine, the one time registration consisted of inserting my (TX) driver's license, my palm print, a scan of my eyes, and giving a phone number.  The machine thanked me, and said it would give a txt message when I was approved.  It took about a minute for that to complete.

I went to the back of the line, and when I got back to the front, I said I wanted to buy bitcoin.  I put my palm in the machine, inserted a $10 bill, and it printed out a QR code with a brand new address and private key.  A very precious piece of paper that presents a security concern until I move the funds elsewhere.  I'm sure the cell phone got involved somehow, but I don't remember that.  I have a blackberry, not an Android, and I wanted a paper receipt.

I assume that I can now go to any ATM in that network, insert my palm, and do a transaction.

Ahem.  I always include the miner's fee.
149  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: August 20, 2014, 08:43:57 PM
I'm am doing a little web reading as homework so that I know what salary is reasonable.

For chemists on March 1, 2013:

Code:
           Industry    Academia
Bachelors  $73,000     $47,600
Masters    $94,100     $57,500
Doctoral  $125,000     $76,500

If you estimate a total of 10 years from Bachelors to Doctorate, that is lost income of $730,000.  At an increase of $52,000 / year, it will take about 14 years of doctoral level employment to recover.    This is typically by age (22 + 10 + 14) or 46.  By age 65, this would be a $988,000 increase in earnings, doctorate above bachelors.

I don't know how to compare high school graduates with Bachelors chemists in a way that a majority would accept.

150  Other / Off-topic / Re: The sun is hollow on: August 19, 2014, 04:15:14 PM
And there was a time when saying the earth was round was the most ridiculous thing one can say.  Open your mind.
That was over two thousand years ago. Get with the times.

Atoms are 99.9+% space, why would matter be any different?
Leaving aside the fact that atoms aren't 99.9% empty space, it is impossible to construct a large hollow object out of anything with mass, as gravity will cause the structure to collapse in on itself.

Atoms are mostly empty space.

Hydrogen, for example, has a radius of about 53 pm (pico = 10 ^ -12).  It's nucleus, a single proton, has a radius of about 850 am (atto = 10 ^ -18).

The volume of the two spheres with those radii are

1.17e-20 m^3 & 3.0e-30 m^3

The ratio of them is 3.8 e 9, or about 4 parts per billion of the hydrogen atom is occupied, the rest is empty space.

151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 18, 2014, 05:25:26 PM

The power supplies on their parts for sale web page are priced a little higher than the same parts on eBay.  Perhaps an update to this page would help bring in cash.

Well the ones on eBay are Bronze and the ones Hashfast has are 80 Plus Gold according to their court filings so they should be a bit more expensive.  The model Hashfast has sells on Amazon for $169

I missed that detail.  Then again, others might also miss it on the website.

152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 18, 2014, 03:51:06 PM
So are we going to get all our money back already or not? :-)

That depends a lot on your definitions of all and already.

An involuntary bankruptcy changes the game significantly.  It is ponderous and slow, but inescapable.  It is really best to answer the trustee's questions honestly and not try to hide assets.  The trustee tries to protect the creditors, but they do not create wealth, only conserve and distribute what still remains.  Generally, the trustee will approve any (legal) plan that both the debtor and creditors approve.

I am not a lawyer, and this opinion could be wrong.

153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 18, 2014, 03:43:16 PM
What are the show-stopper problems that keep this from happening?

It's my understanding that late Friday Hashfast finally signed the document giving the CRO authority to take control of the company.  Anyone looking for a fair deal that wants to buy chips or other assets should be able to deal with the company now w/o fear of getting taken.  The CRO should start their work Monday.

154  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 17, 2014, 08:22:28 PM
I know with Avalon, I can download the CAD files and presumably order a board from a house, a reel of chips from Avalon (at ehash.com) and produce a product.  This is something an individual with some experience can do.

It seems that if someone built a miner from the already produced Golden Nonce chips that exist, and do so at a cost that still allows profit to be extracted, that would be a win-win.

The LiquidBits proposal was close to that, but it was large scale (a "deal") and still exposed the estate to risk.

What are the show-stopper problems that keep this from happening?

I would like to discuss the flow of new blocks through the network, and through the software, and the interface between the reference software and miners.

If anyone is up to speed on that software, I'd like to know.
156  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 16, 2014, 06:33:29 PM
I Googled for Monica, Cara, Tim, Hashfast and found a transcript of a 2014-07-08 meeting.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTE] The Bytecoin Information Thread on: August 16, 2014, 06:15:07 PM
44397 - 44352 = 36 blocks.
'2014-08-16 16:22'  - '2014-08-15 04:24' ~ 36 hours

36 blocks / (144 blocks/day * 36 hours / 24 hours/day) * 1,056,741 difficulty * 2**32 / 600e12 --> 1.57 TH/s net hash rate.

(3 + 1.57) TH/s should result in about 70 blocks/day.

Hi everyone - whats going on with this coin?  I think it is an absolutely great idea to clone bitcoin 1:1 and give a fresh start for the people who missed out on the early stages of bitcoins growth.  Why cant this coin be a heavy weight competitor to bitcoin.  Where has all the interest gone?  I have 3th at my disposal.  Is there anyway I can help promote, mine or get involved in getting this coin back on track?.  My wallet is not syncing which is a big problem to start with - added all the addnodes to the .config?  maybe not enough peers with a wallet to sync?

You might try adding 66.234.123.28 or [2001:470:c019::2013:401] to your config file.  The both have FQDN of bte.vima.austin.tx.us

In the console window, the command would be
  addnode 66.234.123.28 add
  addnode 2001:470:c019::2013:401 add

yes it does.  my predicted earnings lowered every time the pool hash rate went up.

Thats all i am going say about this.

Yes, you earned less each block.  You earned many more blocks.  The total earnings per day are the same.

so as the top end gets higher hash rates the smaller guys % of the pool capability gets smaller.

Yes.  This is as it should be.  It does not affect your daily predicted earnings.  I don't understand why it bothers you.  I thought baddw's post explained it pretty well.
