Does anyone know how to rest the password on the Avalon unit? Each time I try to log in it says wrong password.

Google for openWRT and Failsafe.

Mining Bytecoins is pointless, like mining BTC-testnet.

I don't see the equivalence.
1103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 02, 2013, 05:25:00 PM
Just as a cursory reader of this thread it might help if someone posted a picture of the before and after job of what the fuse looks like when it is cut.  Or at least a photo with a very clear arrow pointing to whichever fuse is the culprit.

Is this "fuse" thing specific to Batch 2 units? I've never seen anyone discussing it before Batch 2 started shipping, now it's suddenly a big deal...

It's specific to the v1.5 control module. From what I understand they've already fixed all new batch 2 units shipping out. So if you receive a unit on or after May 29-June 1 it probably already has the fuse removed.

This is evidence that the team is tuning the design.
I myself am glad to know this.

I need to acknowledge that “pool.bytecoin.in” is a disaster; Fort the last 5 blocks no payment was generated and the pool win this blocks, i send a message to the pool operator and no answer yet.
Really if we want to succeed with the coin we need a decent pool and there are no more BTE pools left, for now I’m throwing mi hash power to solo mining.

What does it take to set up a pool?
1105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to use bitcoin as an intermediary in money changing? on: June 02, 2013, 02:26:46 AM
You know, like buying bitcoin with USD, then selling it for some other currency, like EUROs?

Or more simply, if you don't have a bank in a country with EUROs (for example), can you still get EUROs for your bitcoins somehow?

I think so. If you buy BTC with USD (a hundred ways), then use that to buy Euros on BTC-e exchange, you can withdraw them to Perfect Money, OKPay, or Paypal. Each has their minimums and fees, BTC-e included, but I think Paypal will let you hold a foreign balance - I'd read up to make sure. If you want physical euros, just find an IRL exchange, I guess.

A few years ago I sold some SLL (Second Life Lindens) for Euros through PayPal.  As far as I know, it was not against the PayPal ToS then, but it is now.  Anyway, I carried a balance of some Euros until I forgot to pay for something one day, and PayPal converted them at a poor exchange rate and wiped out my balance.

Also, PayPal has increased the fees dealing with foreign currencies since that transaction.

1106  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: List of stolen bitcoins on: June 01, 2013, 10:27:26 PM
How can you trace this if they go through a mixer?

You can define the concept of clean and dirty coins.  Stolen coins are 100% dirty, freshly mined coins are 100% clean.  All the coins that go into a mixer add up to a total of clean and a total of dirty, and all the coins that come out have a known cleanliness.

The question is what to do with that information.

1107  Economy / Auctions / Re: SELLING: Working Avalon ASIC miner (NOT a preorder) on: June 01, 2013, 08:14:19 PM
Quote
Starting bid is 230 BTC which is ~78 days breakeven at current difficulty (yes, I know, difficulty may raise, caveat emptor). Bid increments are 1 BTC. The auction will run till Tuesday, June 4th, 13:00:00 PST (20:00:00 GMT). If there are new bids in the last hour of the auction, it will be extended for another 6 hours to give everyone an opportunity to amend their bids.

Ya, starting bit 230 = Pretty much the top dollar for these on the 'wave'. If someone offers you 230, jump on it...

asicminer sells blades 50 btc per 10ghash, so 230s not crazy high.  Still think 2.5 btc per ghash is my entry point.

So that's about BTC 1.625 for every 1% of a 3-module Avalon.

I am worried about Neural Repair once he wakes up, so I am here to ask you guys:
What herbs, drugs, vitamins or nootropic support Neural Repair?

And I will share what I have found:
Vitamin C, Folic Acid, B6, B12, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Ginger & Omega-3 all support neural repair.

AND

The CB1 receptor in the human brain is related to fear, anxiety, memory and addiction (according to recent studies) and apparently when Cannabis acts on this receptor, it promotes "Neurogenesis".

Neurogenesis is where new brain/neural cells are "birthed", and it can even happen in adults. When these cells are born, it makes new & stronger neural pathways. Which basically translates to stronger brain activity.

I also just did some reading, and I found that in Israel they have increased success rate with brain trauma patients by 26% (reducing swelling, waking from coma, etc) using a Cannabinoid.
They did a trial across 6 clinics.

They are using 1 specific synthetic cannabinoid that they developed, but there are Israeli doctors who are saying that it would be fine to use other Cannabinoids to treat patients.

And studies show that cannabinoids help prevent any damage to the brain as well.

I live in Colorado, so hopefully the future will be bright Smiley

There are also some papers that have studied the effect of taurine on Alzheimer's patients.  Taurine helps to balance the Ca levels, and reduces "excitotoxicity" in Alzheimer's.  I have not looked at any literature regarding trauma.

If I were communicating with his lawyer, I would be asking for documentation that demonstrates Roman had not used client funds for his own purposes.  I would also be looking for proof that no one has recieved preferential payment from the time that Roman was notified his account was being closed.  Proof of the actual closure and the justification for the decision would be good as well.  Much like the last hack, there has never been any evidence presented that supports Roman's tale.

Documentation is good.

I'm fairly open to the point that it causes me trouble, but for the life of me I can't understand any reason to avoid posting an image of the check.

bytecoin.in is completely dead, pool and forum. Maybe its time to say good bye.

[09:49] <gribble> The expected generation output, at 8000.0 Mhps, given difficulty of 35794.675, is 112.398062881 BTC per day and 4.68325262003 BTC per hour.

20,200 BTE for 10 BTC right here. PM.

You guys need to mine at least a few blocks a day or the coin will die.
1112  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: June 01, 2013, 02:07:17 AM
It is completely pointless to post an order number that only shows the first digit. This says nothing if you ordered on or After Feb 3rd. I have been following the order tally closely and estimate that we are around order number 109#'s.

I believe close to 40 have been shipped.

Would it make more sense to report the block number for the payment transaction?
1113  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 31, 2013, 06:55:26 PM
The issuing bank MUST redeem the check.   You understand that correct?  You have some comprehension of the law correct?   Stop trolling.   Get me the issuing bank's name and the name on the check and I will confirm it for you but BY LAW the bank must HONOR the check they have written.   You cannot write a check that cannot clear, understand?   Start using google to educate yourself and stop using cut and paste to post the same spam over and over again.

I'm glad somebody replied to that ... i'm too tired to. It often worries me that many people just naturally think banks can do whatever the hell they want to.. like issue a check and then refuse to cash it. And that's just normal and okay.

My head hurts.  Do I read that the people who don't trust Roman with a check want him to stroll down the street with a fist full of cash in his pocket?

I'm more comfortable with the check and a wait.

1114  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 31, 2013, 06:52:42 PM
I've talked to a couple of attorneys since we posted now, and they see no reason that accepting a check from a closed account, and creating a settlement agreement with all of the customers, that the bank would have any problems letting the check be deposited into their trust account.

After you identify these attorneys and are certain that they will actually accept the check and disburse the funds in a manner that keeps the FinCEN concerns clean, and you have a name and telephone number, the next step is for you to PM AudenX with that information.

It is not good enough for them to say, yeah, in principle there is no problem.  They have to actually be willing to do it.

It is, of course, a part of any settlement agreement whether you get a facilitator's fee.  I can't find the part of my post where I claimed to be a member of a committee or have any specific authority.

1115  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 31, 2013, 06:40:37 PM

you were a professor, and you had no bank account?

LOL.  We are paid well enough to have bank accounts, but not by much.

I have an active bank account back home.  I did not have one where I was "working at a temporary remote location" out of state.  There are good reasons to have a local account, even if it means opening and closing an account each year.

The posts are not worthless if you make them valuable.  Do your best.
Established members do read in this area.  Do your best.

I suspect that you can move your thread to another area after you achieve status.  Do your best.

1117  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 31, 2013, 04:52:04 PM

From these circumstances? The bank doesn't know the circumstances. All they have to do is take the check and send out the money to everyone.

What are they going to say "We here at BoA don't want you filthy money, Roman"?

Roman is living off our money right now and every day this waits is one less % of our money we won't get back. Roman is a liar and thief until he can prove otherwise by giving us our money back. There is nothing stopping him from sending us our money.

As a non tenured  professor, I move pretty often.

There was a fund raiser for me about a year and a half ago.  I had about $3,500 in checks, approximately $50 each, made out to me.  Essentially all of the checks were drawn on a few banks in town.  I had bills in my name in town to prove residency, a requirement to open an account.

I had a respectable job.

Two banks declined to accept the checks and open an account.  The third bank welcomed my business.

So, again, I invite anyone to identify a bank that will open an account that is associated with bitcoin, with a check that is between $100,000 and $1,000,000, and the need to make payments to a large number of people.  Be sure to disclose the FinCEN guidelines to the bank before opening the account, because surprising a bank is a bad idea.

I claim that it is not all that easy.  A post of "what could go wrong" only proves to me that you have not tried.  If you do have success and can name a bank, an officer, and his contact information in PM, you just may help the entire process move forward.

Again, if you think it is trivial, make it happen, take a 1% fee for your work.

1118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the point of 5 worthless posts? on: May 31, 2013, 03:21:14 PM
No it seems like it's not even 10. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. I need to ask something in the blockchain.info thread, but I can't. I'm going to start spamming posts in this thread until I'm able to post elsewhere.

If you had used your opportunity to ask the question when you made your post, I would have given you an answer.
1119  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 30, 2013, 11:38:30 PM
Since bitfloor has a lawyer... tell me why this can't work:

Roman gives the lawyer the money with a list of people owed, and the lawyer contacts everyone with a settlement agreement. If they want their money, they sign the settlement, and he mails out checks... why is that so fucking hard?

Perhaps the lawyer's bank won't allow him to deposit the check from Roman?

Seems crazy to me. It's from what, US Bank or something? Or bank of America, I forget. Go into Bank of America, and cash the check with hundred dollar bills and give it to your lawyer. Yeah, yeah, that won't ever happen but the whole thing seems a little crazy that his lawyer can't get it worked out for him. Pick a new lawyer.

If you are so sure it is that easy, make the agreement with your bank to be the disbursing bank and let it know how it goes.

I've never known an attorney on this planet that couldn't get a check cashed especially when a % would be his.

And yet, I have the sense you don't have 1 who will do this.

And yet, if I did, I'm sure me saying, hey mail me the check and I'll take care of it, I'm sure would work. Right... bitfloor doesn't seem to be suffering from a surplus of action. Rather the opposite, would anyone suggest otherwise?

Before you have an agreement from a bank that will take this check under these circumstances, you cannot know that it is easy, instead you are just spreading useless or harmful noise.
