I see two big reasons why ICO is now replaced by IEO. One, there is more trust here compared to the usual ICOs because the exchange (assuming that it is reputable as well because there are now many exchanges springing almost everyday and many of them are just here for the money) can be providing additional layer of security as long as the exchange is doing its job of vetting on the project and the people behind it so that we can be sure that it is real, genuine and would have less chance to run once they have the money on the bag. Two, this is providing a better liquidity for token buyers because the coins/tokens are automatically taken in by the exchange. We know that there were so many ICO projects in the past that failed to get into even just one exchange.

As to the concern that exchanges can be getting more powerful...that can be true only because maybe we are just concentrating on Binance but when there can be more reputable exchanges doing the same thing, then the so-called power can easily be diluted or minimized. We have to remember that even without the IEOs, in my opinion, exchanges have their own inherent power as they can decide which projects they would like to be on board and which to reject.

Libra should never be compared with Bitcoin and many are already saying that this is not actually cryptocurrency. However, I could not fathom why we have this big fear on this if this is not something that many people will really love because of its inherent defects? Or are we assuming that Facebook is gonna forced us to use it otherwise can't anymore use the free Facebook platform?

A defective product or service can never prosper in an open market...and since Libra is a very defective proposition or idea then soon afterwards this will just die a natural death. For instance, I will never be buying any Libra coin all because I am not interested with it and that it is a stablecoin so there is nothing to speculate here.

Or am I missing something with the whole picture?

Well, you are right. Although the statement has been attributed with the recent slump of Bitcoin's price (which many actually doubted), the thing is that even a bad publicity can be working well for something good as Bitcoin. More people will be searching about Bitcoin because even the POTUS mentioned it on his tweet. In the end, we have to thank Trump for promoting Bitcoin for free. The dip is always a good opportunity to buy more, enter the crypto space or maybe convert alts into Bitcoin. Welcome to the real world of Bitcoin.

It would have been better if some famous personalities in India would come out in support of Bitcoin by pressing the government to pass laws recognizing the said cryptocurrency with some legal status just like what Japan had done. I am hoping that a united group of cryptocurrency supporters would be presenting its side of the story in India so that the government can be educated on this matter and hopefully can change their mindset. India is a very big and potentially lucrative market for cryptocurrency and I know this is not a one-sided affair as this can be helping its economy a lot in pushing for the future and that future is truly digital. Not really banning is better but legal recognition is the best.

There is no perfect cryptocurrency exchange and if there is one maybe it is not yet existing. So far, based on my experience, Binance is ranked one of my top 5 highly-rated exchange in the whole world. Of course, again it is not perfect and the fact that it was hacked big-time is telling us that it has some weaknesses too but Binance or rather the people behind the platform are learning the lessons of experience so well that even on this aspect they have my respect. Now, having said that, there are other exchanges that you can also explore and find the one that can fit according to your needs and wishes. Or maybe an entrepreneurial spirit can be happening within you right now so that you can decide to start your own exchange and incorporate many of your own ideas into it.

I always admire the Japanese people for their contributions to the world of inventions and innovations and when it comes to cryptocurrency indeed the country is always many steps ahead in terms of recognition, adoption and creating new ways to push cryptocurrency to the mainstream, The suggestion of creating similar to SWIFT is a good idea as the platform really needs a new and better replacement. Good thing that this is coming from Japan which can provide us the kind of leadership and experience the whole industry needs. Let's see how many countries will be supporting this suggestion from Japan.

I am so positive that at the end of the day, all of these hullabaloos will just boil down to regulations and this is the fact that we as an industry has to face -- accepting the fact that while Bitcoin and Libra for that matter can be here to stay so does the government. Of course, the government has to exercise its oversight function and it has to have a pie of the action. I am looking forward to the time when the government and the whole industry would be cooperating though they can be critical of each other from time to time as Bitcoin is supposed to be the disruptor and the government is opting for the status quo.
