1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitShares Introduction Video on: September 04, 2013, 01:51:24 AM
I am interested in the new video too. I am curious to see how BitXYZ will track the price of actual XYZ in a free-market based solution rather than any centralized price controlling mechanism. I also don't think I fully got how dividends will be paid and the relationship between BitAssets and BitShares is a bit hazy. I am still reading your document though.
p.s. see you on October 5th in cryptocurrencycon in Atlanta!
1422  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: AnonymousAds v2 - earn ɃɃ with your site OR use ɃɃ to advertize! on: August 29, 2013, 12:13:53 AM
I've had much better luck with a-ads as a publisher since posting my first experience, and the difference is pretty huge.
This is my best performing ad unit so far (removed the ad unit from the site for now, will put it back later) - https://a-ads.com/ad_units/3315 I think this would perform much better on a higher traffic site than mine.

My other ad unit at the site in my signature has done quite well too, but again, I suspect, it will be much better on sites that get much more traffic.
402 impressions, 1 click? Best performing? lol

I disabled the ad. I used to have a much better performing ad unit until someone began advertising this incredibly lame and asinine site called  caesarbit (dot) eu that destroyed all clicks and conversions.

Also, publishers get paid for impressions, not clicks. If you think you're getting a 2-3% CTR for your ad units, you're one of the biggest suckers in the game. Nicely done.

1423  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBase allows trading with 0% fees for everyone? on: August 27, 2013, 12:28:32 PM
Hi everyone,

I just heard that CoinBase starting today offers that you can trade for 0% fee up to 1.000.000$.

What do you think of that???

Cheers
Train

If you haven't already an account, my referrer to CoinBase: https://coinbase.com/?r=521c4e598657e069c7000014
It's merchant processing, not trading, that will go without fee for the first $1million. And you really feel the need to promote your affiliate link for this?

1425  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any sympathy for an ex-gambler who lost 2.15 BTC? on: August 25, 2013, 10:29:03 PM
I am sorry for your loss. As a matter of personal philosophy, I won't give you 'free Bitcoin' to make up your loss. However, I am willing to work with you for my blog - see my address. I could use some material from someone who's been in the game for a while. If you're interested in this "job", please contact me here or through my email on my blog. That's the best I can offer you right now. Good luck!
1426  Economy / Speculation / Re: 6 Bn ounces of gold and the value of bitcoin on: August 25, 2013, 10:08:07 PM
rpietila already reached the conclusion that, should bitcoin take the place of gold, it would be worth 300 000 $/BTC. It looks like you did very similar napkin calculations.  Smiley

Historically, new and better money has always displaced older, less perferct money. Thus, if bitcoin is better than gold, it could completely displace gold as money, leaving gold only with the intrinsic value.

Personally, I think gold has some properties that bitcoin does not have, including a 5000 year trust. Let's reconsider bitcoin versus gold in the year 7013, bitcoin may have the trust that gold enjoy now.

Fiat on the other hand ... it's going down.

The first 5000 years were slow, we got the Internet these days.

True. However, I don't think you can make a Bitcoin wire like you can make a gold wire. Perhaps finally, finally, gold will some REAL use if it's price is down and no one bothers! It has some nice desirable physical properties
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Litecoin on: August 23, 2013, 02:49:29 AM
As of right now, Bitcoin is about 400% more profitable to mine than Litecoin

 Grin
True, current market rate is about 50 LTC = 1 BTC, so it's more profitable to mine BTC Wink

He's not anymore. He's a TV anchor now!

1430  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox, potentially the reason for BitInstant's problems? on: August 19, 2013, 08:28:56 PM
Just use BitPay or Coinbase. I wonder if BitInstant can move to TradeHill as well.

Doesn't work for me either. Is this DOA like so many other Bitcoin ideas?
1432  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Convert bitcoin to cash for free with Bitcoin-Brokers on: August 18, 2013, 07:03:49 PM
Dan,
Perhaps the right solution would be to allow/encourage your sellers to go MtGox -x% instead of MtGox +x% to balance out the buy/sell part? Everyone knows MtGox prices aren't the best prices when it comes to buying Bitcoin. Just a thought.

I've never seen any indication that setting a negative vs. Mt. Gox is dis-allowed.  To the contrary, it seems to be effective Wink

I kind of like the opportunity to guess about what might be happening with my 'competition' in the seller's space.  It adds another element of intrigue.  Of course it might add extra hassle and add opportunities for error if sellers are changing their terms all the time, but so far the brokers seem to be able to stay on top of things.  At least to my level of satisfaction.

This service is actually just plain fun.  It requires some attentiveness in order to provide satisfaction to the buyers, but presumably I could lock up things if I wanted to take a vacation or something.

Sounds like a good deal, I've written to you to inquire more about this. It is definitely interesting how this will pan out if you have more sellers. I hope you don't go on a permanent holiday though Smiley
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zerocoin is like Bitcoin, Except It's Actually Anonymous on: August 18, 2013, 02:17:41 AM
The author is wrong, there's no traceable IP address but all transactions are public, recording the wallet id and amount

Why do miners need time during the day?

1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead coins? on: August 15, 2013, 12:34:13 AM
Dont forget about pre-mining a coin to death, especially without any good reason besides giveaways.
True for a lot of new coins. Sad indeed.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] PETITION Primecoin listing on BTC-e on: August 15, 2013, 12:32:33 AM
Would be nice to not have to trade on mcxnow where most the XPM volume is.  Seems a little sketchy to me and the other 4 XPM exchanges have much less liquidity.

This is exactly my thinking. My only XPM so far came from some exchange so small that I can't even remember what exchange I used. Wasn't mcx though.

I used Vircurex which isn't too bad. Support this petition. No reason not to
1439  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is a great foreign currency on: August 12, 2013, 12:55:00 AM
The value of a currency comes from circulation and acceptance. At this initial stage, the value of Bitcoin will increase when it is circulated as opposed to hoarded, which is going long and holding on to your Bitcoins. Ironically, the more people who are 'long Bitcoin' in this scenario, the worse it is for Bitcoin and thus the people holding it themselves. Spend your Bitcoins, make it more widely accepted. That's the only way for the 'currency value to increase'.
1440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Arrives on Bloomberg: Beginning of Mainstream Adoption? on: August 11, 2013, 12:27:15 AM
Obviously, somebody put a lot of thought in the naming of the XBT symbol: http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/XBTC:US

I think a wise man should buy XBTC shares now, and dump at about 30% profit of which will happen once XBT goes live.
Hah I like that! It's under a currency though, so it's more like XBT Crncy. Apparently there's a request to include BTC in the ISO 4217 standard that deals with currencies, so perhaps it'll change in the future.
