What program did you use?
Diskpart?

Soo... I came up with this idea a long time ago.

We have a vanity address generator built into the wallet! Such a good idea and no fiddling around with the private key, just at the click of a single button the key is added to yor wallet.dat. Of course, only your CPU would be able to "mine" but still. It's a good idea. Right? It should go on the mining tab.
1423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 09, 2015, 10:50:10 AM
I have an idea for a meme! A stock floor covered in mini SPR spermmen all screaming to buy their "share" in the MN list.

Brilliant. I thought about SPR spermmen and have a few related memes in preparation. I promise you will laugh your ass off.
I will use those spermmen (half a SPR logo, 1 logo = 2 sperm men) to show how they spread around, how they solo mine (and show how "perverted" it is when bitcoin pool mines), how they become masternodes, etc...
This is going to be so much fun.

Awesome! I can't wait! I will spread some love once you've posted

Currently and for the next few days I am working on darkcoin related cartoons for the upcoming 1 year anniversary of darkcoin.
When this is finished, I will concentrate more on spreadcoin cartoons for a while. ;-)

Well guys, I like your enthusiasm and imput in SpreadCoin.
But... In my opinion this is a bad idea. It doesn't do the logo and Spreadcoin in general justice.
It is not the image that we must create for SpreadCoin.

Meme: good
Sperm men: bad

Anyone else have an opinion on the matter?

No need to worry, we were just thinking out loud here, and you have seen nothing yet, so why complain. "sperm men" is just something defunctec came up with on the fly..., probably inspired by my cartoonifyed logo ;-)

I am not complaining, I just don't like the idea and even more I think it can damage the Spreadcoin identity.
I am expressing my concersn and want to know how other community members feel about this.

I do think it is damaging and we should stop talking about it.

Or we can change the logo. Wink jks.

But seriously lets just stop.

When I look at the logo "sperm men" definately does not come (lol) to mind.

Mr Spread: Is the Spreadcoin implementation of pool elimination technology the same as 2P-PoW (Two Phase Proof of Work), as described here: http://hackingdistributed.com/2014/06/18/how-to-disincentivize-large-bitcoin-mining-pools/

If the two methods are difference, could you outline what the differences are?

Thanks for your time.
I also want to know that.
I asked the same question a while ago and Mr. Spread answered. I can't remember what the differences were. Maybe you can find the post.

Edit: Just use the search.

Is this solution a description of Spreadcoin? It it exactly the same as Spreadcoin?

http://hackingdistributed.com/2014/06/18/how-to-disincentivize-large-bitcoin-mining-pools/
It looks similar but more complicated because of the requirement of backward compatibility with existing Bitcoin miners.

Hey darkcoin masternode owners, is your wallet the gui or the daemon?
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 09, 2015, 03:06:08 AM
I'm curious how many Darkcoin masternode owners have realized that they will be able to run a Spreadcoin masternode on the same VPS instance and increase their monthly ROI because of it.  The smart ones are starting to stock up on SPR now at cheap prices.  It makes little sense not to run both.

With that said, you SPR investors that haven't bought 1000 DRK?  It's not a bad idea at these prices IMO.

Very good point! I haven't even thought about that yet.
And you say an average server usually has enough capacity to run two instances side by side? (Assuming both darkcoin and spreadcoin reach similar traffic)

I think yes!
the $5 VPS on vultr.com is enough for you to run 2 instances.
 Grin
You can buy one on https://www.bitcoincloud.eu/ for less than 0.03 btc. You don't need to tell them any personal info at all, just your email address.

Just don't click "reset root password" because I clicked it and it didn't tell me what it got reset to. So now I need to contact support. :/

If I knew how to, I could have just 51% attacked the network.
I suggest you the following workflow:
1. Stop your wallet if it is running.
2. Save current blockchain state by copying Motocoin data directory.
3. Start wallet and send all your motocoins to C-CEX.
4. Wait for the necessary number of confirmations (or mine them by yourself).
5. On C-CEX exchange all your motocoins to bitcoins and withdraw these bitcoins.
6. Stop your wallet and disconnect from internet.
7. Start wallet using the old blockchain state that you saved in step 2.
8. Send all your motocoins to yourself.
9. Mine as many blocks as necessary to overwhelm the original blockchain.
10. Restore your internet connection.
11. ? ? ?
12. PROFIT!!!

If C-CEX software is smart enough it will stop to accept motocoins after this. If not then you can repeat it as many times as necessary to buy all orders on C-CEX.
If only I knew who Mr. Spread was when he said this to me... I might have 50k spr. Smiley

What georgem says is true, there will be not enough spreadcoins.

Do you afraid that someone will start tens of thousands of DarkCon masternodes to just outnumber everyone else and receive 90% of rewards? This is simply not possible because there are not enough darkcoins.
Mr. Spread, have you decided on the masternode limit yet?
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 09, 2015, 02:28:36 AM
You guys are all forgetting that there is only around 1M spr in the wild. Which means having 1k masternodes means that (if all coins are used as DM's) they will all have 1k spr each.
It seems pretty fair to me.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 08, 2015, 09:51:48 PM
I can tell you right now what will happen: the biggest holders will monoplise the MN 'allowance' and lock everyone else out.

Wrong.

Here's the explanation why:

With darkcoin, the biggest holders get to monopolize the MN market very easily. Nobody can challenge them. Who already has MN can very easily create MORE MNs. The earnings of his already existing MNs help him buy the next MNs, etc...

But with spreadcoin, new investors can simply look up how much SPR the weakest DM has, and simply invest 1 SPR more to shut the weakest one down, and become the new weakest link.
(but this new weakest link is now 1 SPR stronger!)

It is brilliant that such a thing is made possible with spreadcoin. Because what just happened:
The new guy increased the sum of all money in all DMs by 1 SPR. So this creates a constant tendency to increase the cost of deposit for a DM, which in turn makes the amount of DMs decrease but only temporarily, because newcomers are waiting at the door, ready to enter..., so there is is a constant TURNOVER (because not every DM owner will want to keep up with the constant deposit increase)

It is horrific that darkcoin does NOT allow newcomers to enter the market AND DRIVE THE DEPOSIT PRICE UP, because that's the only thing that truly DISCOURAGES THE HORDING of DM/MN. (in effect kicking lazy DM/MN owners out of the game)

This is so brilliant, I am going to create a few animations soon to show what will potentially happen, and what the different scenarios are.

You are drawing exactly the wrong conclusions from your own argument.

Only the richest SPR holders will be able to afford Masternodes. Everyone else will be priced out with an ever-diminishing hope of ever owning one as the price rises. This is a terrible idea.
I doubt the richest Spreadcoin holders could even be bothered setting up 100 vps's let alone 1000+ anyway.
1432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 08, 2015, 09:50:10 PM
I'm not seeing any advantage to having a dynamic MN collateral requirement.

I can tell you right now what will happen: the biggest holders will monoplise the MN 'allowance' and lock everyone else out.

Plus it adds code overhead to monitor and enforce the whole thing.

Just call it 1000SPR and have done with it, let market forces sort the rest out without things being weighted massively in favour of whoever holds the most SPR, which is all that a dynamic requirement is going to achieve.

A 1000SPR collateral would give a maximum theoretical number right now of 1500 MNs, which we know from DRK is not too many.

If decentralisation is the goal, implement some code to reject new MN's from certain IP ranges beyond a set % to prevent 75% of people just using Amazon, Vultr, OVH... or even better, come up with a way of allowing MNs to have dynamic IPs so people can run them on their home connections too.

If the max amount of MN was set to 2000? One person holding 5 MILLION SPR! could only fund 3000 MN with 2500 SPR, very weak in my opinion. This guy would be bitch slapped about all day long.

I understood the individual words, but put together... not so much. I have no idea what you are talking about. :p

"the biggest holders will monoplise the MN 'allowance' and lock everyone else out."

Say MrSpread set's the max amount of MN's to 3000.

A big holder with 5 million spr can only fund 3000 MN's with 2500SPR. This makes his "monopoly" on the MN network weak and the majority of his MN's WILL be kicked from the list, allowing others to participate (decentralization).

Any help?
Who would be stupid enough to do that anyway? If one person controls the majority of the masternodes then the market price would go down significantly. I don't see anyone here wanting to sacrifice their investment. Do you? Smiley
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 08, 2015, 08:40:39 PM
The next question regarding DM has to be: will a DM with more SPR in it earn MORE SPR than a DM with fewer SPR?

To stay on the decentralized I would have to assume: NO!

It can't be that way, since it would destroy the competition principle and more or less go back to how darkcoin handles it.
DM owners will just constantly put their earnings back into their DM, earning more and more all the time, until they have a quasi monopoly over everything.

Therefor: a DM with 1000 SPR will earn exactly as much SPR as a DM with 10k SPR.
How will it destroy the competition? The lower ranked MN's will be kicked off the list.
And what does DM stand for?
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 08, 2015, 11:15:14 AM
So other than the cool mining do we have any amazing real world uses for SpreadCoin like we do with VIORcoin for example with their video chat wallet and gateway for international calls through the wallet addresses?
This is just a stupid gimmick. "Real world use" lol we have Skype for that, and with skype you can actually search for your friends name instead of their address which they would need to have told you.

"Add me on VIOR, I'm VWp2R7dF9Gyr872FkXlol2MaYaHNEfwWhZ"

"Ok just a sec, ok how do you spell VIOR?, wait, I'll get a piece of paper... Do you have a pen?? No?"

"Add me on Skype, I'm e1ghtSpace"

"Ok"

So, ETA on masternodes remains the same? Around 15th january?
I think that release date was for testing the code. Not the official release.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 08, 2015, 03:32:03 AM

Amount for running masternode hasn't been set yet. It depends on how many masternodes we want which is not yet clear. The more is better for decentralization, on the other hand we need not to bloat the network with masternode related messages. Instead of setting the required amount it may be better to set the maximum number of masternodes and minimum required amount. Once the number of masternodes will reach the maximum only masternodes with maximum deposits will remain and others will be automatically delisted.

So if I understand this idea you're saying "No required amount of SPR is needed, put whatever SPR you believe should be enough to run a masternode into your masternode" and then when we are at what appears to be a maximum amount of masternodes you then 'draw the line' for required SPR and then everyone who has more than that amount in their masternode will need to remove their SPR to go down to that requirement and everyone who is short of that amount will need to increase their SPR to meet it?

Sort of like a market-created masternode requirement based on what is technically needed and what the market players are willing to pay.
If I'm anywhere near what you mean, I like it.
JL
This is not like there are some distinct phases: first everyone sends money, then we select masternodes. No, it is a continuous process, you look at what amounts current masternodes have, you see that the top masternode has 1500 SPR and the bottom one has only 1200 SPR, you put, say, 1300 SPR to your masternode, you will be added to the list of masternodes, the bottom masternode will be excluded and others will be unaffected.

YES YES YES!
Wouldn't the price of having a masternode keep going up then?

Mr. Spread, also would we be able to add some coins to our masternode after it has gone live to keep it in the game?

very strange, price gows despite net hashrate declines  Huh
I think i'll start mining then.
