I would guess that he should be rested. I mean just because he is back with the team and training doesn't mean that he is ready to play. UCL is so close around the corner and if you make a player play at club, then go to international games, come back to club and then UCL back to back like that, that player would be tired and fatigue would cause him to miss many chances. This is why he needs a rest, even if at the bench would be a lot better, that way he could rest but could be used in case of emergency if he is needed. We have seen teams do that kind of stuff for decades now, keep the tired player at bench until you need him, or keep him benched if he is never needed. I think it will best if Benzema starts from the bench so he can reserve more energy ahead of their clash with Chelsea in the quarter final leg 1 of the champions league.
