Having an optional currency not controlled by the government doesn't mean that i don't need to pay taxes to the government. By itself it still need taxes to run and operate and they will levy that to the citizen so we can't run away from that.

The only way I see that brings value to bitcoin is you exchange the coin within the community itself that is if your spend your bitcoin to pay to another person that will pass on to another without that going back to exchangers to leave it in the open market for sale to fiat. That will certainly bring up the price due to scarcity because there will be less supply in the open market

Google play would not integrate bitcoin as a payment for so many reasons one would be the price of it that keep on crushing, its too risky for them.
No risk they simply would use it as way for people to buy fiat into the Google pay system and also they can convert to USD rapidly. No risk to them, just potential revenue increases. Bitcoin prices have decreased a lot recently and for Google it will definitely be risky. It is just like buying and selling shares/trading in Forex so as of now Google may not find it a reliable payment method. Just like any business or shops accepting bitcoin, they would exchange it back immediately to fiat to avoid losses caused by exchange rate fluctuation. If these small establishment can do it that operates on a thin margin, then why not google? They should be able to manage it much better compared to the rest.

If one day I can buy everything I need in bitcoin why would I want to exchange that back to fiat.

Interesting. Didn't notice that. If there is heavy volume and price still maintains range bound it shows that any heavy selling is countered by strong buying. Vice versa.

I don't know about the rest here but when browsing through past bitcoin posts, people has been saying that the coin is going to be dead soon and that was years ago during the slump. Fact is when we survive that long through the test of time it shows that those people were dead wrong about bitcoin.

When google starts accepting bitcoin it will at least clear up some of the misconception people have about the coin. When people start using it, the exposure will help people see and realize that there's nothing wrong about it. Moreover with Google level of security people will have more trust.

My comment is even if you have so much time to spare, you are still better off doing nothing. Most of the time, amount of bitcoin you earn are not even enough to cover the transaction fees

I just hope they don't mess up bitcoin the way the fiat system get messed up

Let's see what happens after it reached 250. Couldn't be so coincidence that there must be a major pump every time before a drop occurs.
The only thing you will ever need to know is never to trust anybody with your bitcoin. Keep it in your own wallet which you have control over it.

Then, how do they ensure that the private key has not been redeemed before or compromised? Also there's some opportunity for some fake scratch cards getting issued.
Note: I'm not against the business idea, just would like to know more how all these work
I don't think the price increase and news event is pure coincidental. If it does materialize, this is going to be big. Price at almost 250 right now.
never heard about this before. Is it something like a scratch card? How does the coin gets delivered once payment is done?
what makes both has value? basically it's acceptance. It's a certain value that we agree on to assign to it. If you notice what they share in common is also basically the scarcity.
What makes you so sure about it? Usually it's driven by news event but there's none at the moment. So any explanation?
Talking about news driven, I expect a drop after the MyCoin incident in Hong Kong but I'm glad I was wrong on that. Price increase could by buoyed by buying demand and it's definitely not a pump here.

You can consider electrum since it support HD and there are different wallet addresses (up to 5) available and make sure also the "change address" function is also enabled by default.
Just use Bitcoin Wallet or Mycelium. Transfer small amount from your cold wallet to the apps and then begin spend from there. Shouldn't be much of a hassle as I also did the same.

Quite an old news actually. He based on that on current scenario and I just hope he can repeat the whole process in maybe the next year to come and let's see how much things that could probably have changed by then.
