Btw try defining "to exist" without making a circular definition..  Grin
existence: an identifiable arraignment of matter and/or energy.

What is matter and what is energy?
1422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The ultimate Bitcoin interview on the front page of dailypaul.com on: September 18, 2012, 07:45:23 PM
Go check it out, my post with the most excellent interview [Understanding Bitcoin Security - Trace Mayer interviewed by VisionVictory] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtN9YUvh_XM is on the front page!

Did I earn some tips or what?  Cool Grin

Man oh man I wish I could see some of those stubborn highly skeptical gold bugs' heads explode watching it. It was down rated to -1, and then I uprated it to 0, someone rated it to +1 and now it's at 0 again...

Oh and the video is also on the 46th video on 8th page of "Popular videos around the Web" in the Science & Technology section on youtube!

Hah! No, I don't think there is.

Btw try defining "to exist" without making a circular definition..  Grin
1424  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Blog post: Do bitcoins actually exist? on: September 18, 2012, 07:34:44 PM
Well there are two distinctions here I think:
1) bitcoins don't really exist, they are a concept we all agree to use
2) but entries into the blockchain ledger we call bitcoins most certainly exist

1426  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Blog post: Do bitcoins actually exist? on: September 18, 2012, 07:18:54 PM
I liked it, especially the first half.
1427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal: bitcoin.org "clients" page should distinctly list "bitcoind" on: September 18, 2012, 07:10:40 PM
(and you can bet not very many people are saying "download the client from bitcoin.org" to any of them).

lol, yep I certainly don't.
1428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dying bitcoins on: September 18, 2012, 06:15:22 PM
Come-from-Beyond you do realize that you can take the Bitcoin source code, modify it how ever you like and start your own crypto currency that will follow the rules you want it to follow..

If you aren't happy with Bitcoin the way it is, why not do that? We'll all be thankful and move to your currency if it turns out better than Bitcoin!
1429  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: what actual legal obligation does mtgox have to non-japanese governments? on: September 18, 2012, 04:54:53 PM
mtgox limits the withdrawal amounts. is it because of banking laws around the world? the limit seems to be based on where you are.

why is this?
Because MtGox said so. Don't like it? Go to their competition, vote with your wallet.

and what/whose laws does mtgox actually have an obligation to follow?

AFAIK no obligations yet since bitcoins aren't regulated as for the fiat currency side I assume it's the standard MSB regulations in Japan or maybe not even that.

Regardless it's not like you are forced to use them.
1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal: bitcoin.org "clients" page should distinctly list "bitcoind" on: September 18, 2012, 04:47:52 PM
I think we should remove the direct download links from the bitcoin.org (and wiki) homepage, too, and instead just link to the clients page.

Anything that would help getting the more laymen users to use other clients beside the satoshi client is a plus IMHO because I have this sneaky suspicion a lot of people get turned off once they start waiting for the blockchain to download. Of course I can't substantiate this suspicion with any evidence.
1431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardware level security on: September 18, 2012, 04:43:37 PM
Sure, use multisig and store the keys on two different types of hardware (e.g. cell phone and computer).

Is multisig now available in the satoshi client?
1432  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: September 18, 2012, 04:40:31 PM
Here comes the rally!

Btw there are quite a lot of cheap BTC available at bitstamp.net.. better snatch those up while you can!

This issue might cause some conflict within the community though and that's why I'm thinking maybe two European conferences next year are in order.

Actually what you say makes a lot of sense.
1434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing your savings wallet on: September 18, 2012, 11:43:19 AM
except for the no blockchain part.. what about just having truecrypt (or whatever the better one is?) partition on USB, store vmware/virtualbox hdd on it with linux and run wallet inside that ? Then use keypas or similar to copy/paste wallet passwd in each time you want to spend  ?

Man I'm disappoint. I thought there's an easy plug&play solution for this issue but I guess not.

Let me repeat this again, I'm willing to pay up to $15 for a plug&play USB stick that would allow me to meet my conditions and I don't believe I'm alone.

I already have something like this setup but this is vulnerable to keylogging.

Well, I must admit there is the benefit that it usually shuts them up for a while.

Quite sick to hear that.
What I understood from anarcho-capitalism is that it value freedom of speech and doesn't link oppressive state. I guess I'm mistaking, and it only applies to people who agree with it... Silly me
I guess the divide & conquer strategy of our elites still have a bright future.

And you are right, wachtwoord must not believe in anarcho capitalism.

But you are also right about not understanding anarcho capitalism because it's not about freedom of speech and not liking the oppressive state, it's about peace, no initiation of violence and respect for private property and yes freedom of speech and not liking an oppressive state falls under that but it's not the entire idea.
1437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin on Alex Jone on: September 18, 2012, 09:22:09 AM
FINALLY HE TOLD ALEX ABOUT IT! GO MAX!

ALEX IS GOING TO COME AROUND TO IT. EVEN GERALD CELENTE!! Cheesy

I doubt this buffoon will ever understand what Bitcoin really is and how it really works and what it can help him do.. I don't like this guy at all, to me most of what he does is just praying on the really fearful of the government blowing up stories making them sound much more horrible then they are and sometime fabricating some outright.

He has a few good speeches here and there when it comes to some important issue like the TSA procedures at airports but that's about it.
1438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind version 0.7.0 released on: September 18, 2012, 12:11:55 AM
Awesomeness.
Excellent! Thanks for your hard work!

+1!

Gavin, I was just wondering, would you mind explaining what this is:
* New blockchain checkpoint at block 193,000

Nvm, found an explanation here: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1061/can-a-51-attack-be-detected-and-dealt-with/1065#1065

Don't give this yellow page style extremely biased piece of crap your clicks, I guarantee it's not worth it.
1440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing your savings wallet on: September 17, 2012, 10:35:42 PM
Yeah no, I don't want a blockchain on my laptop at all because I frankly don't see a need to have it given that there are other options.
