...[blibityblablabla]....
And what is this claimable depreciation rate (for a hobby miner) that you plucked from your delusional Land of Make-believe?  Roll Eyes

You really are an ignorant cunt aren't you?

You look like a half retarded monkey when you make statements like this one.

Try to wipe the drivers with DDU, should get her back in the business.

Awesome, thanks man, that seems to have done the trick!!
1443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 7970 mining ZEC at Nicehash, getting really high reject rate? on: June 08, 2017, 09:44:25 PM
So I dusted of an old 7970 a few weeks ago to mine some ZEC at Nicehash.  Been steady at 275 kh/s for about 6 weeks with 0 rejects.  I come home from work a few nights ago to see the miner is down.  Initially I figure no biggie, boot her up and start mining.  It didn't boot right away and it wouldn't boot up until I switch to the second bios on the gpu (dual bios mode card).

With the bios switched the clocks go back to default and I start mining again except that now I am getting a TON of rejects, somewhere around 30% rejects.

Now I can run the miner with either bios again and I can OC the gpu or run it at stock clock settings and I still get 30% or so reject rate.

GPU is on the mobo and not on a riser

Is it time to retire the old gal?  I mean it's not like she owe's me anything.  She's paid herself off a few times over but I can't justify running it at 30% less hashrate Sad

The fact we need a fucking service like this says it ALL IMHO.

This is a political move to garner public support, end of story.

1445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Fixing Avalon and other miners because people keep sending them in... :-) on: June 06, 2017, 02:39:46 AM
With all the screwed up S9's out there you should see if some folks could "donate" some fucked up boards to you for diagnostics/analysis.

S9's are likely to be king of the hill for another while yet.  If a fellow like yourself could find a way to bring some of those boards back to life I think you might just have a pretty decent client base.

Or maybe the S9's boards can't be brought back to life?

Either way I know you've been around here for a while now so good luck!

1447  Bitcoin / Mining / Bitcoin Mining 101 Just The Basic Facts (2017) on: June 02, 2017, 01:02:49 AM
1)  CPU and GPU Bitcoin mining is dead, you will never mine anything but dust and will never receive a
     payout from a pool.

2)  Bitcoin difficulty will adjust, meaning so will your income.  Difficulty long term trend has been a steady
increase for the last few years.  Of course difficulty could drop, it has before, but its rare when it does and
even more rare is a drop that is meaningful.

3)  Bitcoin miners in general produce significant heat loads and you will have to deal with it one way or
     another.

4)  Bitcoin miners can take significant electrical resources to power them.  You should know 100% if the
circuits powering your miners are rated for the load you're putting on them.  If you don't you should get
     professional assistance.

5)   Bitcoin miners in general are LOUD! As in vacuum cleaner to hair-dryer loud.

1448  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Prepping to set up a new "Farm" have advantages, could use advice. on: June 01, 2017, 09:45:38 PM

I'm stilly very much concerned about providing power to the eventual number of units from the limited number of outlets I have access too.

Thanks for the advice!

You should be very worried about that LOL.

quantity of outlets is for the most part irrelevant.  What is important is the # of circuits and the wire size and breaker size protecting those circuits.

Sounds honestly like you have 1 x 15A circuit in the garage.  Which basically means you will max you capacity in terms of amps drawn by 1 x S7 (with a couple hundreds watts headroom).

Don't discount the heat, a room with no airflow will heat up FAST even with just one miner LOL.
1449  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Crypto and Family Separation on: June 01, 2017, 02:12:54 AM
I guess there is also another way to look at this.

Try setting a good example for your daughters.  You will be able to look them in the eyes one day telling them the truth that you manned up and did the right thing.

Maybe, just maybe your example can help them set higher standards for whom they wish to spend their lives with in the future.

To you shes the ex, to your girls shes mommy...
1450  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Where TO Buy Bitcoin Miner ? on: May 28, 2017, 12:36:08 PM
If #UASF succeeds after August, your hardware will be useless.
What exactly does UASF do to a miners ability to mine??

Quote
Bitcoin miners mine bitcoin only.
Not true, they can mine any SHA256 algo coin.  Like a legacy/classic SHA256 BTC LOL

Quote
If PoW algo changes, they'll become useless.
1) It's not happening, it makes 0 sense to fuck with a ~ $30 billion golden goose...
2) Even if it did happen, you will have SHA256 BTC and a XXXXX algo BTC chains.  Miners have a lot invested already and there is a lot of juicy meat left on the table, they won't just roll over and die for you.

1451  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining, need advice before spending $$$ on: May 24, 2017, 09:24:07 PM
I am not worried about the heat, yet

FTFY

Put a few of these 1400W heaters in your basement and wait for the summer temps then come back and update us on how worried you are about the heat hehe.

1 or 2 miners fine, play around have some fun and heat probably isn't a major issue BUT start to add these things up in ANY enclosed room and you will very quickly find out just what heat output from a miner is!

You need airflow not A/C brother!  Trying to cool hot miner air with A/C is a lot like pissing in the wind, bloody stupid.

On the flip side though they can be a sweet source of cheaper/subsidized heat in the winter months.

1452  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining, need any help I can get. on: May 23, 2017, 09:42:45 PM
Thank you for the warm welcome and advice.. I will not go through amazon in that case.  Damn.. I hope that's not what I need to turn a profit.  That reminds me of the dial-up days when people setup 56k servers in their homes.  Is this a ridiculous setup or is this the competition.. I know we have over a hundred years of mining left but hell, that is a pricey setup.

LOL that would actually be a tiny little set up (if it was for BTC), its not, its an alt coin GPU farm.

Here is what your competition actually looks like...  (well technically GND is a hosting facility but it illustrates the point nicely and was the first pic I found LOL).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1512967.0

There are a lot of facilities like this (and many much larger) mostly in China.  You will be competing with them as they continue to add hashpower likely at a significant rate...

I'm not saying don't mine, I'm just saying there are a shit ton of variables.

It's important to remember in the long run difficulty WILL follow price.  If BTC crashes to $10 tomorrow (and stays down) there is going to be a metric fuck ton of miners that will eventually have to shut down.  If BTC goes to $10,000 tomorrow and stays up then everyone and their brother is going to want to get it on the gravy train.

1453  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Increase your BTC after 72h and get 150% / crypto trading on: May 23, 2017, 02:26:46 AM
I don't think anyone would even consider wasting money on such an obvious scammer. Not only is 150% in 72h impossible, your trust rating is simply laughable as well.

Dont worry about my trust.. I bought this account and gambling site.. You can see my message history.
No scam

Wait, you didn't pinky promise on this.  In all seriousness I can't just take your word for it without a fucking pinky promise...
1454  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Possibility of Tripping Breaker on: May 21, 2017, 05:15:39 AM
IMO get a clamping Amp meter, forget the watt meter.

Never run a circuit more than 80% of its rated max capacity.  That means your 20A circuit is safe for 16A draw or less.

Your breaker is rated in Amps so measure Amps drawn by the load and you can rest assured you're in or out of acceptable limits.
1455  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BFL Monarch, Cgminer, Windows 7, ARRGHHH on: May 18, 2017, 04:54:10 PM
You should probably post this in the mining software section, specifically in the stickied BFG miner support thread in that sub.

<snip>
We saw Miner speeds go from 60GH/s to 7TH/s in 5 years. We will see a jump in speed somewhere along the line and probably very soon.
Hate to pop your shiny glowing bubble vision of What Will Soon Be...  No, we won't and I for one will be damned before I support mention that something along those lines is possible today or even within 2 years. All it does is lend credence to scammer claims. They rely on that bright wide-eyed wonder to pitch their frauds.

Even back in 2013 when 65nm miners were finally moving out the door and 28nm tech miners were being hawked/pre-sold, the current 14/16nm tech had been in development for around 5 years and they had only recently succeeded in making viable test circuits of any sort. It took another 3 years before TSMC, Samsung, and GloFo finally started commercial production of 16/14nm chips.

The next generation of chips targeting the 10nm and 7nm nodes are in the same boat. Just because Bitmain et al say they have a road map to those nodes does not mean they will be soon seen. The very simple reason is that those nodes cannot yet be produced by even Intel or IBM much less TSMC and the others.

Earlier this year both Intel and IBM announced making test circuits at the 10nm node and test structures at 7nm. If past history is any guide that puts test-production of functional main-stream use (eg CPU/GPU) 10nm chips at least 2 years out and 7nm as huge???

I thought Samsung foundry just started to ship mass produced 10nm FF processors in the new S8's.  I remember reading about there advanced 3D transistor structure and big efficiency gains (like 30% better at 40% less power or so).  I hate going OT like this, especially since I think you're still 100% right, it doesn't really make any kind of sense to think miners are getting 10nm chips or magnitudes of better efficiency very soon.
1457  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: UPS recommendations for 2x APW3+ 1600w on: May 02, 2017, 10:06:29 PM
Hey NotFuzzy, regarding your back-up power source being a genset, have you ever had to run your miners off of that back-up? I'm curious is there's any power quality issues from a genset that would require some kind of protection for your miners, say a UPS or something in between? I'm curious to know what I will need to consider in regards to design if I also use a back-up genset.

The way I see it you need a pretty damn big farm to justify a UPS and back up generator if it's just for the miners.

In terms of design, I've never seen a back up gen used without also using a UPS but it can be done.  You will have to consider how your going to transfer the load between the gen and utility power. For uninterrupted power you would need an ATS (automatic transfer switch) and UPS.  The UPS holds the load while the gen fires up, when the gen is ready the ATS transfers the load onto the gen.  When utility power returns the ATS moves the load back to normal utility operation.

Always use an online UPS with a generator (as noted above)

No UPS and load drops when utility fails and gen starts up.
No ATS and you will have to manually transfer the load between utility and gen.

Most normal electricians are not qualified for this kind of work, consult and hire a real professional for this kind of work. And lastly do the math and make sure its worth it for mining LOL!!
1458  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: May 02, 2017, 09:26:51 PM
Are they swtichmode powersupplies? As in do they provide 240V and 110V or just 110V?

You're terminology is incorrect, what you're asking about is Voltage auto sensing, not switchmode.
1459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: August 29, 2016, 09:24:51 PM
Shipping is included.

That is not true.  It specifically says that shipping is not included and you have to add the item to your cart and go to check out to get actual shipping costs.
Did you buy one? Because I checked out, selected UPS, and paid and received confirmation and I paid $0 in shipping.
Hmmm, well that is true. I tried now as well and I get $0 for shipping with all logistics companies.

You guys actually bought this thing at $1400???  No wonder Bitmain can charge what ever they like...miners will buy anything from them no matter what the cost.

@Bitmain, change the price of the R4 to $4000...you'll still be able to sell them like hotcakes!

You say that like its some new phenomenon.   Supply and demand it literally is as simple as that...
1460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Facebook About to Get ‘Myspaced’ by Next-Gen Social Media? on: August 26, 2016, 07:06:13 PM
Facebook is currently worth about $400-$450 billion, which is like 30-35 times the entire crypto market. I believe that if FB accept something as a threat, they'll just buy it or ruin it. Keep in mind that not only Zuckerberg is behind Facebook. Wink Same applies for google.

Some of us remember the rise and fall of AOL.  Wink

And some of crusty, old geeks the 300 BAUD modems and BBSes that preceded AOL. Raise your hand if you are old enough to have memorized the handshaking tones of the initial modem connection.

Thanks bro you just made me feel old Tongue
