Until the firmware is improved,
I feel that it is kind of false advertising to say that the T1 is the most power efficient machine available.

At the moment there are three different machines that can achieve about the same power efficiency level (~0.10 J per GH/s)
--> Antminer S9, AvalonMiner 841 and DragonMint T1.

If you had 3 production cars from 3 manufactures that could do 0-100 kmh in 1.2 seconds aren't they all the fastest production car available?

"Slimey" word fuckery is marketing.  Look at the manufactures that claim there car is "the most fuel efficient" and then have a long list after the *

BTW Bitmain also makes the same claim on their site.

I would like to hear the opinion of the administration of the forum (moderator) regarding this issue

I think by giving you a ban they have already given you their opinion...
1203  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 13, 2018, 12:36:56 PM
I'll do my part in reporting some posts in Politics & Society, but it is pretty difficult to decide what gets reported and what not.
Sticking with the obvious spam for now, but ideally, I'd also want to report some of the more 'gray-area' posts as well.

Just one example of what I see as a gray-area:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3142740.0 (how do we move on from something?)
Quote
To some people it might be easy, and it might be hard to others. How do we exactly move on from something?

I guess this might be a legit question, but on the other hand it's clearly very low effort. Should be in off-topic perhaps or just removed? I don't know.

Getting back to the task at hand I will put up my thoughts on this so that anyone interested may have a little more information to judge my ability to mod.

I personally think this thread and replies are what Theymos is talking about when he says:
Politics & Society is trash. People go there, look at a headline, and post a few sentences of their first gut reaction without reading any of the other replies.

There doesn't seem to be any actual discussion taking place.  It has the lowest amount of effort possible to start a thread, OP is extremely vague "How do we move on from something".  Its easy for some hard for others.  Ok we got all the bases covered now!

The OP has not been back to the thread, none of the other posters have returned to discuss posts etc.  Only 2 or 3 posts were actual replies to other posts (which you might consider discussion) the rest were just quoting and or answering the OP over and over.

I just don't see anyone getting anything out of a thread like that, expect post count.  I don't see how removing a thread like that could be considered censoring free speech either as the OP doesn't have a point about "something" nor an opinion since he covered all his bases already.

These kinds of threads are the spam problem IMO, so I would trash can that thread (or at least lock it not sure which is better).  Leaving this type of thread open just allows more people to try to pad their post count and increase's the mods work load.
1204  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 12, 2018, 07:27:37 PM
I will remember you when I'm on top sitting next to theymos, the other admin has already been dealt with.

First you "joke" about getting respect for being a merit source.  Now you want to sit on the top next to Theymos.  holy fuck man you seem to be power tripping or something bro...

If you don't believe in a supernatural God and the afterlife, it doesn't make you automatically untrustworthy, it makes you potentially untrustworthy.

I'm sorry did I misunderstand the part where you said:
Quote
I wouldn't trust somebody if he/she has no fear of God.

See the bolded word is very much important here and you didn't put that in until the second post...  In your first post you categorically said you would not trust somebody if he/she has no fear of God

You're continued attack on me because of my atheist beliefs is VERY revealing.  IMO is it so off topic and irrelevant I hate to even reply.  All I will say is that the argument that atheists have less of a moral compass than religious people is so ridiculous it isn't even funny and ironically enough extremely offensive!

I am also not going to just drop out because you want me to or because YOU think you will be better than me.  That is a decision Theymos will make based on his criteria for what is best for the forum and I will happily respect his decision.

1206  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN'S guide to getting merit. on: April 12, 2018, 06:24:19 PM

Oh and even though I think TMAN is making some great points, especially when he's stressing the importance of proper English, the irony that there are quite a few spelling and punctuation mistakes in his original post is not lost on me Cheesy (don't misunderstand me, I think you're providing valid critique and offering constructive advice, just thought it was funny - I guess you're just human after all)

Please show me where the OP requires 100% grammatically correct posts in order to receive his merit. Otherwise you're holding him to the highest possible standard while he is not holding anywhere near this for his participants, can you see the irony in that?
1207  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 12, 2018, 11:21:14 AM
If I had bought more Bitcoin when I first started to read about it, I would be a multi-millionaire now. I didn't, so I'm not - does that mean that the Bitcoin system is unfair?

1208  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 12, 2018, 10:15:39 AM

I'm giving you a chance to edit this one, however theymos could see no matter what you do. I wouldn't trust somebody if he/she has no fear of God. I know for a fact that administration and staff team of this forum don't like somebody talking about our saviour like that. (for the record, I do believe in Jesus, I do

You're giving me the chance to do what now, I feel honoured /s.  You claim to know a lot of facts and honestly I don't care what Theymos religious beliefs are.

I won't be editing my posts (unlike you!) because I am allowed my opinion.  BTW this a forum, differences in opinions are what make this place work...

In his OP Theymos:

Quote
Who here is up to the task of moderating the section in order to remove this garbage, but without hampering the free exchange of ideas there? It'll be tough, since I do want to hear the thoughts of people who can't speak perfect English, people with extreme/offensive ideas, people who are rude while still making legitimate points, etc. So it'll be a difficult balancing act.

It would seem to me that EVEN if Theymos is deeply religious he would value my different opinion on the matter if I am to believe what he wrote...  So I am automatically untrustworthy because I believe in physical scientific universe rather than the supernatural one, I guess if you say so!

Quote
Am I allowed to swear and curse people? if I am, should I do it? of course I wont do it. even saying "garbage" should be replaced by some other word.

hilariousandco said it great here
Fuck off.  Grin

Grow a thicker skin. They're only words. I think there are far bigger (and worse) things to get offended about.
You are allowed to do whatever you want within the rules man.  I don't get from your posts that you really understand this because you spent much of your post attacking me for my beliefs?Huh?  Does that sound like a person that can allow and promote free speech in a jungle (as Invo put it!)

Quote
In 5 years, do you have the majority of your reports just in a few days? you think reporting is a waste of time for moderators. they should actually spend their time on handling the reports. would you consider shooting fish in a barrel as something contributive?

I explained my views on these in my posts.  Bottom line is NO I do not want to waste anyone's times and again I feel I've already explained why.

Quote
I just wonder, why would you want to spend your time on meaningless interwebz forum?
Having been here for almost 5 yrs I think its amusing you call into question my desire to be here...  I have my reasons for being part of this community but the biggest two are that I believe in BTC and always have and I have spare time so I read up on a topic relevant to me.  You seem to have misread or misunderstood the quoted post I was talking specifically about ranks and being "proud" of them.  Further down in the quote and probably more relevant to the discussion here is my comment about the content of posts. Thanks for bringing that up I think it shows why I am here!

I am not here for signature campaigns (as I have never worn a paid signature).  Having seen how great this forum was it does annoy me that shitposting farmers and bots have made me wade through a virtual cesspool of posts to find anything worth reading.  I freely admit that my posting has diminished over the years and for me the spam epidemic played a part in that.

You came in here asking for money, a job, tossing around numbers like they mean something and DT this and that and then throw this bad boy out there.
you don't even have a signature,

Are you suggesting somehow that me not wearing a signature is a bad thing?  Ya I don't wear one, I don't want to be forced to post a certain number of times per week.  Sometimes I just don't have anything to add to the threads I've visited.

I offered to help try to clean it up some and I would do it while I am online here.  I won't be online here 35-45 hrs a weeks, I'm not looking for a job.
1209  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 12, 2018, 01:52:21 AM
Digaran is not my enemy man hes a poster on a forum.  If I need to look at him as my enemy and I can't respond to accusation nor can I have a life outside the forum then well man I may not be the right bloke for the job after all!

I just asked both of you (in a military manner since i consider P&S as a jungle full of "rebels") to concentrate your efforts on your probably future task rather than arguing each other. Stats are clear, being inactive for a period is normal, otherwise it should rise suspicions Tongue

Thats cool bro.  I agree that the focus should be on the task at hand.  As a someone who's thrown their hat in the ring I don't feel it's my place to point out issues with the other candidates.  I feel that is something best left to other users to debate and ultimately up to Theymos to decide!  However since it was brought up I felt it appropriate to respond.   I specifically did not "fire" back (using your military analogy!  Smiley).  If you notice all I did was answer Digarans questions.

As you said stats are stats, anyone can see I have been here for approximately 5 years.  I'm not legendary yet in part due to RNG but mostly because I don't care if I post 14 times in 2 weeks or not.  I could have had max activity long ago and ensure legendary rank but I just don't care.  I read more than I post if that is a negative mark on me then so be it, it is what it is!
1210  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal to minimize scam ICO's on: April 12, 2018, 01:31:21 AM
As we know scam ICO's are been much rampant on this forum and to minimize it the forum staff or admins should create some rules that to show the team behind the ICO's, anonymous team is shady and hiding the team member can provably make things worst among the ICO project.

So if all of the ICO posters here are transparent and willing to show their teams faces then we can easily sue and see them up if they scam their investors. Suggestion and violent reaction is appreciated speak up here.

You know it's your money you're sending right, you have the power already to stop scam ICO's.  DON'T send money on the internet to anonymous people no matter what they claim, it is as simple as that.  If people just used a little common sense when investing we wouldn't need suggestions like this.

Why would the forum take responsibility for something you already control 100%?

according to what I've read about the rules here scams are not moderated to prevent mod abuse, all scams can not be caught and it may give some people a false sense of security if the forum was to moderate the scams and one was missed some how and users lost lots of money.

he just woke up after 15 days of inactivity or his posts are in sections ignored by me? he isn't showing that much interest anyways.

Not that it is actually any of your business but yes I did take a short break for my spinal decompression surgery a few days ago.  I guess if I can not have a life outside the forum then I will make a bad mod.

Also please note not posting does not mean not logging on and reading etc.

You gotta inspect enemies behind their lines and report them in order to get promoted boyS.

There is no friendly fire mate, I was directly responding to his accusations.  If someone levels accusations about me am I not allowed to politely correct him and defend myself?

Digaran is not my enemy man hes a poster on a forum.  If I need to look at him as my enemy and I can't respond to accusation nor can I have a life outside the forum then well man I may not be the right bloke for the job after all!

1213  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 04:23:13 PM
I love the term “investomer”.  I think this is one of the peculiar aspects of Bitcoin mining equipment manufacturing.  Everyone sees a prototype and hype surrounding and they are quick to fund millions of dollars towards “production” well in advance essential giving quick payday to anyone who participated..  Yet, time and Time again that risk has played out very badly.

Why not make true longterm investment into the development of the unit itself or startup and receive benefit for years off single investment?  Instead trust is placed in an unknown team with a prototype.  Why not put your trust in an outstanding team with wonderful reputation that could provide years of steady profits and access to equipment at cost? 95% of this thread and the risk could have been mitigated, but it sure makes for a great story and is a lot of fun Smiley

Interest free loans are a hell of a drug (and a very risky way to start a business).  The law (in the US/CAN) have very clear definitions of what a customer is and what an investor is.  Try as they might many a company has tried to word fuck their way around this, it doesn't work ask BFL et al LOLOLOL.
1214  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 03:37:01 PM
It is good reasoning actually. Think about it.
The batch 1 barely made a dent in slush. And slush is 3% of total hashrate or less?
Slush is 3.246 EH and btc difficulty is now 3.46T. I doubt batch 2 and 3 will do much either. We shall see I guess.

If they sold any decent amount, slush and CK should have huge increases because ONLY these 2 pools can take in dragonmints.
If thats the case, when they are delivered later, there should be a major increase in those 2 pools hashrate. The major pools are known as it is.

lol. They didnt sell to any enterprise companies I believe. I know the claims they make. Their telegram back then has like 600 people only then and many were toxic. No company will buy alot of untested units from some new and unknown company. No one hands over so much btc just like that. It is just stupid. Why would they be able to get into the industrial market like Bitfury when they cant even crack the smaller market lol?

Agree with u on investomer. Nice term Smiley

You assume a lot. How do you know that none of the blocks solved by "unknown" pools aren't T1 pools we don't know about.  Do you take their word for it that it ONLY works on those two pools or does it ONLY work on those 2 PUBLICLY known pools?  Do we assume Halong has a farm somewhere?  Where are they mining on slush or a private one of their own??

You also assume that a client showing up with 1 or 2 or 5 million dollars to invest is treated the same as joe six pack home miner.  Believe me when I say that deals done at that high level generally speaking are negotiations and not just terms dictated on a website LOL.  When FOMO was in full swing the manufacture has the "hand" in negotiations, as the mining market shifts so does the "hand" during negotiations.

All in all your assumptions might be 100% accurate but equally as true is that a number of other "reasonable" arguments exist and therefor it seems impossible to accurately predict their sales volumes.
1215  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 01:27:17 PM
I dont mean to be a wet blanket but there is no notable increase in hashrate in Slush and Ck pool. Slush and CK pools are the only pools that can take dragonmints.
Hashrate for slush should go through the roof it they sold alot, especially considering how small slush is to the total hashrate.
Furthermore, alot of slush and CK pool hash will be due to cheap S9s flooding market.
Thus, the logical conclusion is that they didnt sell much miners.

That is specious reasoning at best...  They may very well have sold lots of gear and:
it's just not delivered yet.
it's still "burning in" on their own pool #BFL!
there sales were to mainly enterprise level companies who are running on "non-public" pools

With such limited information it seems impossible to accurately asses their sales volume.

I've been preaching about how bad a deal it is to be an "Investomer" since 2013.  It's not a popular opinion here in DEADWOOD.  The risk/reward ratio for being an investomer is soooooooo absolutely lopsided (and in case it actually needs to be mention it is NOT lopsided in the miners favour...) that I am constantly amazed how many people are so happy to line up to be one.
1216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Have You Sent Miners to Canada for Hosting? Other Costs.... on: April 11, 2018, 12:07:42 PM
Curious if any of you have sent rigs to Canada (from US) for hosting, but then were hit with tariffs or other costs (taxes?).

And bringing the rigs back must have costs, too?

I'm bringing this up bc you know what they say about things that seem too good to be true. Trying to find the catch on a deal I was offered.

I think your thread belongs in the service discussion board.

There is a thread there discussing the "HST" requirements of shipping to Newfoundland (which is essentially the same for all provinces with the exception of the actual percentage ie Newfoundland 14%, Ontario 13% etc).

Good luck!

1217  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: April 11, 2018, 04:05:40 AM
Hes talking about the complexity fallacy:

Fallacy 1: The World Needs God As Creator Fallacy
A traditional and still popular notion is that the world is so complex that it needed God to create it. Our origins fascinated even ancient societies and various myths described creation. Monotheists started from ancient times to claim God was necessary as the Creator. This has continued through Thomas Aquinas and William Paley even to Antony Flew who eventually converted to theism because he came to see a need for a creator God as designer of our world.

However the notion that a sophisticated world needs God as its Creator and designer is logically fallacious in two major ways.

Even the most famous design argument and analogy, that of William Paley (1743-1805) who wrote just as a sophisticated watch (unlike a rock) implies a watchmaker, a complex world implies a Creator who is God, has this fallacy. Suppose, as Paley did, that a watch implies a watchmaker, that watchmaker is not God and is not immortal. Likewise even supposing the world has a Creator, that Creator need be neither God nor even immortal. Furthermore, unlike in Paley’s day we are aware not just of evolutionary processes but also of robotic manufacture and artificial computer-like intelligences. Yes, there is a mystery concerning our ultimate genesis, but God is not needed as the solution.

The other fallacy is if one claims the world required a more sophisticated being, God, to create it, one is attempting to solve a problem by creating a yet greater problem. If we are in need of a creator God who is more powerful and greater than us to bring us into existence, that greater God being more wondrous than us would be even more in need than us of some Creator to create and explain it! Indeed as, unlike us, God would be immortally God, it could not develop nor evolve to its present glory over time but must be from the very beginning omnipotent and omniscient – an extraordinary phenomenon, far more inexplicable than even us. Far from solving or explaining the problem of our ultimate origin, the concept of God is actually massively enhancing the problem.

So the notion that God is needed to or even can satisfactorily explain existence as we see it is logically fallacious.

Source: http://www.godfallacies.com/

Ask old BaDecker who created his god, the answer is nothing short of hilarious.  Ironically enough the specious reasoning used by BD to try and prove his god exists is the same specious reasoning the flat earthers use, BD can understand the specious reasoning used in the FE thread but his religious indoctrination doesn't allow him to see it when he uses it.

Whenever I see someone argue so vehemently using specious reasoning I immediately think of Homer Simpson!

Scams aren't moderated by staff so you should leave those alone if you become a mod but feel free to leave negative feedback on scams or potential ones.

Ya, I'm aware of forum policy on moderating scams, to be honest I don't see a lot of "scamming potential" in the politics boards so I wouldn't expect there to be much "scam tagging" in that board!

It's very easy to get dishearten when your accuracy is falling and there's no way to verify why, and especially in Politics and Society due to the sheer amount of spam. Although, 257 good reports is still a very respectable number.

This was kinda of it for me.  As mentioned there is no way to know why and it is a little frustrating tbh.  I didn't mind reporting in an effort to try to help clean up those boards but I certainly did not want to waste anyone's time.  Based on not wanting to waste anyone's time and the fact that the merit system dropped I decided to reduce my reporting and just wait and see how things go.

As I enjoy a good political debate a dedicated mod to the politics board seems like a really good idea and whomever it ends up being you will probably see a bunch of reports from me.

1219  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 10, 2018, 11:41:34 AM
The problem is,not many reporters are actively reporting stuff from that section.Being an active reporter myself,I think I'll start visiting that section more often. The user " Flying Hellfish " has the most Non-Bad reports, maybe they should be able to handle it accurately.I'd choose them as they already have an idea of what a good report is.

I had almost 1k reports in politics and off topic (in a few days), I was actually trying to help the mods clean it up a little (right before merit dropped).  The first 900 posts I had a 98% accuracy.  My last 100 reports "appeared" to be not be dealt with and my accuracy dropped to sub 90%.  I stopped reporting, if I wasn't accurate anymore I didn't want to waste the mods time.  If they were accurate but not being dealt with I didn't want to waste my time.

I would be willing to spend time in there trying to clean it up I'm in those sections already.

I don't like:
Shitposters, account and sig farmers
Redundant threads and answers
Scammers

I don't care:
Where a poster is from
What someones point of view is (as long as it not a redundant shitpost for post count)
how good someone English skills are (as long as it's not google translated English).  As long as the meaning of the post can be understood.
1220  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie Problems how to eliminate? on: March 25, 2018, 12:59:20 PM
I think that restricting posting to a few newbie boards is a better solution.
Yeah, what a brilliant idea Mr. Now I remembered, I knew some Forums in internet where this is one is implemented. There are some discussions where Only established members can post/reply their suggestion and Newbie members is only allowed to read it. There is no reply button/link for Newbies. In short, Newbies are limited where they can post. Yeah, this sounds cool. Maybe this is the solution we were looking for in this entire time, to stop newbies from making spams. What do you think Mr. Jet Cash. This is actually your idea thats why I'm sure you will support this to be implemented. I will also support this one.
Is our Admin is the only one who can do implementations in the Forum? I think we should tell Mr. Theymos about this or even to our Moderators. Or let me guess, did they already knew all about this?

But, in some ways. This idea still got its disadvantages. But we will find a solution for it too later on.

We had a "newbie jail" a while ago.  Theymos got rid of it, I presume because it didn't really do anything.  Or maybe he just didn't want to "restrict" new members.  Either way a newbie jail just delays the inevitable IMO.
