Read my question again please...key phase "in this video".
He may have done the design by hand (doubt it) but when video starts it is already there.
Do you disagree with that?
Wow. You should be either a lawyer or a news reporter. You're good at manipulating questions just to get the answer you desire.

Watching the video, I've come to the conclusion that you, WoodCollector, have probably no experience with carving whatsoever. carve: to produce (a work) by cutting, or to cut (a material) into a finished work.
Using a Dremel (and BTW burning the surface of the wood because you didn't even get the speed right), clearly shows that you don't know how to cut shapes into wood. Here's a picture of carving tools: Here's a picture of what you used: The laser in the end was a funny little twist, though Power carving tools? http://www.traditionalwoodworker.com/Power-Carvers--Accessories/departments/256/

Primedice is in "odds" not in "dice"?
List was last updated in June 2014 and OP hasn't been here since September 2014.

any chance to watch the video without downloading it?
whenever I click, it download the video automatically
Google Chrome plays it in the browser i havent see the video yet , so i dunno about this stencil thing
and english isnt my native language so if i assume stencil is a mark of picture like sort of outline, couldnt he do it with carbon paper?
Yes a stencil is an outline transferred to the wood. Nubbins believes WC used a laser, I've been arguing it could have been several other methods (carbon paper is another one).

nubbins english isnt native language for some people, that neutral trust isnt really necessary i guess
+1. Left him a negative rating for leaving inaccurate negative ratings. Hey we got TF in on the WC saga

He did not fucking dremel the backgrounds out of those pieces and you know it.
How do I know? Who cares if he used a laser to apply the stencil? That is not the matter under question
But... that's precisely the matter under question. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=932131.03: All this crap that i own a laser machine
100% false. As i have stated before i dont need to spend $80,000 to transfer a design to wood. A sheet of carbon transfer paper costs me about $0.05. Once the final design is approved it takes about 5 minutes for me to turn the scanned design into a line drawing, then it is nothing more than printing it out and tracing it with carbon paper onto the wood. Then all thats left is to remove the wood around the lines. If that makes me a fraud then about every artist in the world is a fraud even before the days of technology and carbon paper artists use to use pot ash to transfer their sketches to canvas before starting work on the final piece.
Long and the short of it, if you were working with pine or super soft wood, most any of you could be taught to do the same thing in less than a day. the skill comes in when working with hardwoods, hardwood grain tears easy, it will splinter in a heartbeat if you are not careful, and its a quick way to cut off a finger if you dont know what your doing. When you know what your doing, how hard to you think it really is to cut within the lines? i think they teach you that in grade school yeah?
To lay out a little common sense for you, IF I OWNED A LASER I COULD SHIT OUT 10 COINS IN AN AFTERNOON, collect $50,000 and still have time to go to Disneyland. Yet it takes sometimes an entire month to clear out the wood around the design. But the mob mentality does not use common sense or simple logic.
I didnt use a laser as accused
I addressed that in the other thread.

I believe that is referred to as Neutral feedback and not negative.

Ok, so he didn't use a laser, how about a stencil film? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv5XgfqIznwEdit: this method specifically may be unlikely due to lack of a visible film but similar techniques exist that transfer the ink to the wood

The design was already etched into the wood -- with a laser -- when the video starts. Who cares how the initial template was applied, and is it engraved or burned on? Is the piece not still hand carved if he applies a stencil then carves around it? Then WC takes a dremel tool and fucks around for a bit. That's the carving part... Are you serious? Actually speechless if so. Yea
|
|
|
At the beginning of the video when he removes the paper version of the design the wood is already marked with the design.
Why not show us how this was done?
Was it a laser that did that stencil?
Sure looks like it. Honest question.
I don't know how he got the stencil, but does that matter? Who cares if he used a laser to apply the stencil? That is not the matter under question the matter is whether he carves or lasers the piece overall.

I admit, I lel'd heartily. The video is indeed incontrovertible proof of WC's skill.
I'm curious as to what in the video was not satisfactory for you

Currently buffering, hope this is glorious. I'm not going to comment saying I never doubted you but I did go against the hive mind and remained open to either possibility This whole experience shows just where Blazedout419/WC's inspiration came from with the hive mind theme on the large B

This kind of behavior is why there is no community cohesion in crypto anymore, and why it will be turned out, pimped by Wallstreet and fucked into the dirt. It is a direct result of feral mobs of arrogant, obsessive compulsive, lemming like children as demonstrated in this thread.
No, that's just these forums. It's become to large for it's own good, and everyone is trying to show they are the best. Rather than a mega forum we should have several independent forums. One where the developers hang out and talk technical stuff. Remove the alt-coin section, they should have their own forums. A legitimate "silk road" built on the public net for economy. I'm sure there's enough in Mining to support it's own as well. With the decentralization and segregation of the forums the elitism can fade, if bitcoin is all about decentralization why does theymos have almost entire control over the communication that transpires? When the forums went down where did everyone go to communicate? No where, they just complained until the forums were back.

Now that sounds like a guy talking out of his ass. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_crystalWikipedia claims that technology isn't even practical yet for distances greater than between components on an IC chip. Although that was cited as 2009, but thecableco.com has copyright 2011 so I doubt they developed that technology within 2 years and don't know how to update a copyright automatically.

I just find it incredulous that such a well regarded member would pay $14k for a commissioned piece of art without knowing who the artist is.
From my understanding the piece was shipped to Blazed then after his approval the payment was sent. So he knew what he was getting and was satisfied with the price. This whole thing sort of makes me think of Best Buy selling Gold HDMI cables for a high markup claiming it produces a better picture and audio quality than a standard HDMI cable even though that is entirely false. Some people are willing to pay the markup and others know better. It doesn't necessarily mean Best Buy is scamming their customers, even though they could get the same quality from Amazon on a cheaper cable. Your analogy doesn't do this situation justice. What is the mark-up on those cables? Are they made by retarded half-monkeys? Best-Buy 6.6' $1495.99 (Don't worry, free shipping) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/audioquest-diamond-6-6-high-speed-hdmi-cable-dark-gray-blue/2383319.p?id=1218325919542&skuId=2383319Amazon 100' $59.69 (Free shipping) http://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Veins-Adapter-Supports-Ethernet/dp/B00FX8Q3NM/ref=sr_1_3?s=audio-video-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1422085256&sr=1-3&keywords=100ftYou could buy 25 of those cables, or 2500 feet of cabling with $3.74 left over That's 378.79 times more cabling for the same price. So taking WoodCollectors $14,000 work, divide it by 378.79 and you get $36.96. $40 for that piece of wood run off a laser engraver by Paul Revere for instance wouldn't be a bad deal. WoodCollector = Best Buy Paul Rever = Amazon (This was an extreme case, for illustration purposes)
