I wonder what VB will do with his ETC?

Seems the HF could have given him a nice pile of both coins now, no?
1462  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will difficulty jump over 200 billion at block halving? on: July 15, 2016, 10:46:53 AM
Difficulty will decrease after the halving. If diff increases it's due to newer hardware and btc price rising instead.

I don't understand, lots of people are saying that the halving will increase mining difficulty. Now you are saying it will decrease, precisely what determines the mining difficulty?

Global Hashrate.

Wow, amazing idea. How come I didn't think of this. Good luck man. I'll be checking this out for sure.

Thanks for the nice comments, I appreciate it!!

I am going to offer the first 10 confirmed purchases via BTC Talk an extra 1% on top of the listed BitBates.  Post in this thread you made a purchase (no details please just say something like, "Purchase made - email sent") then send us an email or PM here and when the BitBates are calculated and paid we will add 1% extra for you!!
1467  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitBates - Earn Bitcoins For Amazon Purchases! on: April 29, 2015, 10:31:05 PM
the idea is very good, but Amazon can do this? to encourage purchases?
i have used last time later, a italian shop online (with tradedoubler affiliation) and this ban me because i incentivate the purchase with money.

Thanks for your comment, I read the Amazon associate agreement pretty in depth and no where did I see that I could not offer customers incentive to use my link by paying out a rebate.  In fact a VERY large affiliate program website for cash back rebates via affiliate programs is currently being purchased by a Japanese company and the sale is expected to be in the range of $900 million for the site...  The model works with cash back I have just flipped the payment method to try to attract our niche community!

As far as I can tell and see Amazon doesn't have a problem with this type of rebate program.  I was hoping that the BTC payout would entice folks in the community who already purchase from Amazon to get some BTC back for using my link.

Amazon Affiliate offering BTC rebates, not sure if this is the type of affiliate program meant for this thread but check us out anyways please.

1470  Economy / Service Announcements / [ANN] BitBates - Earn Bitcoins For Amazon Purchases! on: April 28, 2015, 12:30:12 AM
Hello BTC community I'd like to announce a little side project I am testing the waters with.  I decided to spend a couple of hours putting together a cheap (well free actually!) website to offer folks the chance to earn BTC rebates (BitBates) on everyday purchases they already make at Amazon.  In a nutshell that's it!

Everything is quite rudimentary and it will all start out being done manually by me.  If the community response is good I will invest more time and money into improving and automating many of the features.

Our FAQ's and some generic information is listed below and hopefully they will give you an idea of what we are about.

Earn 2% - 5% rebate on everyday products you buy from Amazon

As an Amazon affiliate we get paid a commission from Amazon when someone purchases a product using our link.  We are offering up to 50% of our commission back to the customer as a rebate.  The best part is the rebate is paid to you in Bitcoins!

Step 1: Use our link to buy a qualifying product from Amazon.
Step 2: Contact us by email (bitbates@gmail.com) with purchase details and your BTC address.

Once the purchase is verified we will inform you. After we are paid from Amazon we will purchase the appropriate number of Bitcoins and send them to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Q: I can't see anywhere to make an account at BitBates, do I need to make an account?
A: No, for now we are doing everything manually via email with our clients.

2. Q: Is Bitcoin the only option to receive my rebate?
A: No, while we do prefer to use BTC as we wish to support and foster its growth if you prefer a different payment method please contact us with your preferred method and we will do our best to accommodate you.

3. Q: I want to buy a product from Amazon and get BitBates but I don't see it Featured on your site?
A: No problems, we only list a few items that are available for BitBates.  The important thing is to get to Amazon from any of our links, you can then shop for other products and as long as you make the purchase during that browser session we and you get paid.

4. Q: Where can I find more detail about rebates paid and eligible purchases?
A: See below (Schedule A) for more comprehensive information about eligible categories and associated rebates available.

5. Q: What exchange rate and time do you use to calculate applicable BitBates?
A: All BitBates are calculated in USD and remain as USD denomination until a BTC rebate is paid.  The exchange rate at the time of the BTC payment to the client is the exchange rate used to determine how many BTC the client receives.

6. Q: How long does it take to receive my BTC BitBates?
A: Because of the irreversible nature of Bitcoin we can not pay out BitBates until the funds have cleared our account from Amazon.  This can take 90 days or more so we do ask for and appreciate your patience

7. Q: What fees are charged to me for receiving my BitBates?
A: For BTC payments the only "fee" is the BTC network transaction fee. Alternative payment methods may incur additional fees related to payment processor or exchange rates. A BitBates rep will work with you directly if a non BTC payment method is required and all fees will be disclosed at that time.

8. Q: Is there a minimum before I will receive my BitBates?
A: Not currently although we are considering a 0.01 BTC minimum and reserve the right to change the minimum requirement at any time.

9. Q: What are your terms and conditions?
A: Basically we are bound by our agreement with Amazon, if we get paid from them you get paid from us. Please see our "More Information" Menu under "Terms & Conditions" for more detail.

10.Q: What is your privacy policy?
A: Please see our "More Information" Menu under "privacy policy" for full policy.

10 posts != spam...  Roll Eyes then again i did get a free miner

Dude there's like 15 or so SPT threads in Hardware ATM.  If all the others do it because it's allowed it's could get pretty gross in the Hardware section
1474  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 21, 2014, 02:29:20 AM
I think Spondoolies did somewhat cause the spam by giving away so many of their miners under the condition that a review was to be made for the device. I really don't see it causing that much harm though as each thread is not going to cause that much of a distraction and they will probably quickly die/fade away.

It probably would have been more appropriate for Spondoolies to have the reviews be made in the "main" thread and then they could quote the review in the OP or 2nd/3rd reserved page

Consolidation into a single thread (SPT had a couple to choose from) would have been the smart and right thing to do.

If the other manufactures don't do it then ya it was completely harmless (unless you care about SPT spending money to advertise here and the forum not getting paid for it, which some do and some don't).  If all of a sudden other manufactures start to do it to compete it will detract from the readability of the Hardware forum IMO.
1475  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 21, 2014, 02:23:28 AM
So Hardware was flooded for 3-4 days. It's not such a big deal.

As of this post, 7/10 review threads, +the SP20 unofficial thread, + the spondoolies thread are all active on the front page. In part, because you are being active in each and all of them.

I'll say it again, does anyone have an objection to Bitmain paying for 50 review threads? Seems not.
My involvement is a short courtesy thank you for the reviewer.
Be patient and most of the threads will sunk soon.
I did reply that I'll be happy to see 10 different reviews of a new BMT product.

I really don't understand all the negative attitude towards our legendaries review party. It's fun and harmless.

I agree that in the span of things it is harmless. In a week the majority of the review threads will be on the second or third page and we all know almost nobody looks past the first page. So i don't think people need to get as worked up about it as they have been.

If they allow this once they have to allow it again...

I would like to officially ask any manufacture who decides to advertise here this way to consider me for the list!!!  Tongue

I really thought conmans solution was pretty reasonable LOL.  It allowed for everyone to get basically what they wanted.

SPT got the advertising they paid for and according to them they will sink into oblivion any ways (there is still multiple active SPT threads and links to the reviews can be posted in lots of places for future reference)
Legendaries got sweet toys
Forum gets to set a precedent saying something like, "this is cool and peps had some fun but hey we can't let every one do this so ya we're gonna lock em down after they run their course" and "no more spammy advertising we don't get a cut/control of...".

And of course if the forum admin and mods don't agree and they think it's perfectly fine than like I said, can I go on the next list from any manufacture please!

Why does bitmain only get 10, what if they wanted to do 50?

Is it also OK for any manufacture to do as many review threads as they like?

If it's all harmless fun and they will sink away in a few days what is so bad about having them all together?  You might actually get a single review thread to stay on the front page a lot longer with everyone circle jerking in it.

To be honest I think SPT is the best manufacture to date (the company is very proffesional and their products are reportedly fantastic), if this was Bitmain, AM or ANY other vendor I would have exactly the same problem with it.
1477  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Closed] Legendaries review party of Spondoolies-Tech's SP20 on: December 20, 2014, 02:13:44 PM
There are quite a number of these reviews now cluttering up the hardware area and while it was nice publicity for spondoolies, I will be locking each thread after they have been up for a couple of days and I suggest further discussion regarding the reviews should go here. @spondoolies-tech, you may wish to create links to all the original review threads in your top post.

Thank you for this conman.  I was a little surprised it was allowed in the first place as it does set a pretty terrible precedence (hardware forum font page is basically for sale...), but I think your reasoning above and your solution is fair.

If people want this type of spammy shit in a new sub, go to meta and ask/fight for it.

don't be such an arse licker Flying Hellfish.
the sheer volume of rotation of threads on these forums is reason enough for me put you on ignore for pointless comment of the year award.

Thank you for that, it's like a badge of honour for me.  I humbly and personally apologize for having a different opinion than you and for having the shear ignorant audacity to share it in a public forum.

Now get back to calling people names it makes your arguments significantly stronger.
Lets' clarify your predicament, for now...
you have come onto a Spondoolies thread to complain about the fact that you have viewed far too many Spondoolies threads on the forum? right?
oh the irony.

Huh, guess your ignore button didn't work?

Mate this isn't about SPT specifically, personally I am following this issue as I believe it has wider implications (sorry to burst your bubble).  As I mentioned in my first response allowing one company to buy the front page (for all intents and purposes) of the hardware sub (without paying the forum) sets a terrible precedence.  I can see a lot of other manufactures doing exactly the same thing (or worse heaven forbid).  The hardware section becomes the manufacture's advertising section instantly and any tiny scrap of information that does get here is even more difficult to find.  I personally thought the way conman plans on handling it was reasonable.  He can now put manufacture's on notice that this shit won't fly in the future but allowing SPT and the legendaries to finish out what they started.

Go back to meta and work on getting your manufacture child boards and do all this shit till your hearts content.  I don't think it belongs here, that is my opinion and like it or not, agree with it or not I am free to share it thank you very much.

While this was way cool of SPT to do it is a little annoying to have sooooooooo many SP20 reviews cluttering up the hardware section.  I think most of those reviews unless specifically bumped will fall quickly out of view.  I think it would have been better to have SPT officially start an "SP20 LEGENDARY Review thread".  Have all 10 of the legendaries (who are jacked up after receiving free yummies) in one nice big circle jerk of a thread!!

I'm always surprised by the modding rules here, if this was almost any other forum all those threads would have been merged my the mods any ways.  Oh well it truly is like Deadwood round these parts!
