1481  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Windows 7 64 bit dual 5970 rig question on: May 07, 2011, 08:19:32 AM
Thank for you suggestions dishwara. I will get back to this thread once and if I get things sorted out.
Currently running with the following PSU: CorsairHX-850 watt
According to this thread, 850 watt should be enough:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/286977-10-which-dual-5970

But I am no expert in this subject.
I will try all the things suggested. Thanks.

Corsair HX-850, is not in the list of certified PSU for not only 5970, but totally to 5000 series.
http://support.amd.com/us/certified/power-supplies/Pages/listing.aspx?p=Corsair
http://support.amd.com/us/certified/power-supplies/Pages/details.aspx?item=498

You can email to Corsair itself & ask them.

1482  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Windows 7 64 bit dual 5970 rig question on: May 06, 2011, 10:53:11 PM
It seems, you getting problem only if u run all the gpus, here 2*5970, thats 4 gpu.
I suspect the PSU, power supply not giving enough power.
For to run the above spec, u at least need, 300 for each card with out OC.
So in total u must have at least 300+300+250= 850 Watts without OC.
I recommend go for at least 2 * 750 W (Recommended by AMD, not cheap ones), which give 1500W, or 2*650 W, if money is problem, which give 1300 W, which enough to give power to all cards & cpu also. & also OC.

I mostly made express installs, and if there's 'too much' stuff installed, please enlighten me as to how that would negatively affect my setup.  I run 11.1, not 11.4. I tried 11.3 which is the newest from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx

Instead of express install, go for custom & only install these 3 or 4.
many times VC++ grayed out.
ATI display driver, ATI catalyst install manager, APP 2.3 or SDK 2.1 & VC++

Vista drivers will work for win 7.
For 5000 series card, you must at least try 2.1 & 10.12 or less.
1483  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [MINER] Phoenix - New efficient, fast, modular miner **BFI_INT support!** on: May 06, 2011, 03:59:53 PM
Just FYI, I get a "wrong username/password" error message when I try to connect to deepbit.net.  My username (email address) has a period in it and that's probably the source of the problem.  I tried escaping the period to no avail.

I'm able to mine at slush's pool with no problems.  I suppose I will have to register with a different email address at deepbit.net if I want to join that pool.

You can use same email address to register in any number of pools.
First you login to deepbit.net with username & password.
Make sure, the worker username & password are correct, that is it is same as in miner.
If not change the worker name & password to reflect the worker name & password in deepbit.net.
You can create new worker & use that.

Is it ok to have a few rejected shares, like 2000 accepted and 50 rejected?

Yes. Its really good. For the 2050 shares u sent, 2000 accepted & 50 rejected (stale)
Its quite low actually.
1485  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: May 06, 2011, 11:42:46 AM
Cool.  Gained about 2-3M hashes by dropping it down to 339.  341 and 339 give me the same.  Anything slightly higher or lower give me like 1M less.

This also decreased my card power by 20W, and temperature by about 5C!  Grin

Currently running a single 5830 @ 920Mhz.  Agression is at 7.  At 11 I will gain a few more M hashes.  I get 264Mhash/sec now.
Please try mem clk at this speed, 920/3 + 14, that's 320.66= 320 mhz & post how much Mhash/s u get.
1486  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [MINER] Phoenix - New efficient, fast, modular miner **BFI_INT support!** on: May 06, 2011, 11:36:06 AM
Dual 5970 rig. Win 7 64 bit. SDK 2.4
Miner Phoenix 1.3

Every time I reboot the pc, my worker scripts run, they look like

cd c:\bitcoin\phoenix
phoenix -u http://user@domain.com_1:pass@poolsite.com:8332 -k poclbm DEVICE=n -v VECTORS BFI_INT AGRESSION=11

Of course one device for each bat file (0 through 3).
One of the cards have a troubled GPU. No matter which slot I use in the machine, it never runs for long. It runs for a very short while, then it freeze.
Sample message at a freeze:
Code:
325.80 Mhash/sec [2 Accepted] [0 Rejected] [RPC (+LP)]. Then GPU activity drops to zero.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/859/gpuactivity.png/
Any ideas?

You didn't mentioned at what clock speeds you running.

You said win 7 64, sdk 2.4. have you installed all the things useless to mining coming with the driver?
11.4?

It has been told many times, by many members that it is best to go for less than 11, thats 10.10 or 10.XX with ati stream sdk 2.1 for HD 5000 series cards.
& APP 2.3 or greater for HD 6000 series with 11.XX drivers, coz HD 6000 series don't support ati stream 2.2 or less.

If over clocked beyond limit with out looking out temp, also has the possibility that one gpu in that card blown out.
Better run only one card & see which card's gpu giving problem. Isolation of problem is first step in trouble shooting.
You can see that by device 0 & 1, after finding the gpu, mark the card, then uninstall all the AMD drivers &
then run latest version of "driver sweeper" from www.phyxion.net & analyse & clean AMD-Display drivers.
Then install 10.xx & 2.1 & check again to confirm THE gpu is blown or not.
If it runs with out problem, then u r lucky.
Always try to run fan at 100% speed, if u can able to with stand sound.
Coz, cost of fan is very less than the cost of gpu's.
1487  Economy / Marketplace / RE: Buy my shares to build mining rig. I give profit & expand my business. on: May 06, 2011, 11:18:46 AM
Negative reputation can be given by anyone, but reply to post, so that i know who gave me reputation & why.

55 shares sold so far, if i sell 180+, i can start mining with minimum hardware.
1488  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: May 06, 2011, 10:19:13 AM
So I did the tweaks to afterburner cfg file, and was able to lower my mem clock from 1000Mhz to 500Mhz, but the slider will not allow for more.

I see several of you posting going down to the 200, 300 and 400Mhz range.  How?

I have a 5830 under Win7 64bit.  Thx.
Slide it to 500, hit apply, close msi afterburner. Then when you open msi again it should let you go down lower.

+1

So far, i can't able to find a direct way to go 1038 & 360 directly.
The only way is to apply, restart & change.
So, you can't just start mining rig & go away. you have to change mem clk & after you can leave mining rig, until, it restarts again.

I wrote an email to build torbitcoin bundle, stating that bitcoin will be the virtual currency.
Hope they reply me or even though don't reply, start building torbitcoin.
On a side note, they tor decide to stop, tor for firefox. So, soon they will take out tor extension for firefox & decided to build Tor broswer ,with firefox as foundation.
1490  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy my shares so that i can build rig & give profit & have a business on: May 05, 2011, 04:14:07 PM
Please, If you have no interest to buy my shares, then better stay away.
I can't keep on explaining same thing again & again to you.
I WANT TO MINE NOT TO TROLL.
From the reputation you got & from the number of posts & date you joined this forum, It's clear that you are here to just argue, nothing more.
Don't waste your time & my time.

Those believe in me will buy my shares.
If no one buy my shares then i take, no one believes me.
please don't troll.
1491  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy my shares so that i can build rig & give profit & have a business on: May 05, 2011, 03:30:26 PM
Difficulty only increase if more miners join, & bitcoin value increases.
If bitcoin value increases, even though the share holders get less coin, but their profit in terms of money they get in hand will be same or more only.
Please read above posts also.

You are correct that difficulty only increases if more miners join. This is how the system works.

You are incorrect that difficulty increases will only happen if bitcoin value increases. This is wild speculation.

Wild speculation? This has been a recognised pattern on the bitcoin markets/difficulty level for some time, at least as long as I've been on this forum.

When price drops below a certain value (below cost) miners will stop mining, difficulty will fall.

When the price grows, profits rise, and more miners join driving up the difficulty. Difficulty is totally driven by price at this point.

Difficulty is determined by the number of miners in the system.

Exchange rate is determined by the number of people wanting to buy bitcoins vs. the number of people wanting to sell bitcoins.

There is some correlation, but they certainly don't drive each other.

The marginal cost of mining (profit - electricity) for those already invested is still huge, and has a long way to fall. Right now you can turn $1.00 of electricity into well over $10 of bitcoins. If difficulty truly was propping up exchange rates, this marginal ratio would have to fall a lot.

We still have plenty of room for difficulty to go up at the current exchange rate before miners start backing out.
The system is designed in such a way that both more mining & more price will increase difficulty.
If more price don't increase difficulty, then the price will sky rocket making the value of bitcoin to increase in hurry.
More price means many wanted to mine which will increase difficulty.
More value makes more miners to mine which makes difficulty increase.

I'm not doubting your credibility, just making sure that this is a sound investment (and not giving you money to work with and find out later that there were better things to invest in).

It's not to you, but to travex, below is his message.

Yo dishware, don't bother with building up the rig instead send me the fund since I can provide cheap hardware 5870 - 140$ or 5970 for - 350$ plus FREE electricity !
I'm on 4x 5970 now, if you are interested, Pm me Tongue
I am building rig, so i can mine. Since i am short of money, i released shares.
Every one is doubting about my credibility & i am trying to prove.
You asking to give the money i raise, so that you build & mine.
Don't you think its funny?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can run a 5870 at least 350 Mhash/s. Thats with current difficulty takes, average 15 days, 13 hours, 50 minute= 15*24+14= 374 hours per block.
50/374= 0.133 btc per hour. For 24 hrs = 3.19 bitcoin

Its really making me sad that even though i have a old pc, & some bought my shares, i can't do mining , but only wait.
Getting a single 5870 & 750W PSU will help start mining & also help future upgrade & also share profits.
Next thing i buy is mother board. so can have more gpu cards.

if i am not mistaken the prop. is the one if luck is negative! pps is the one if luck is positive, according to Tycho's statistics Wink

U switched it.
PPS when luck is negative & Proportional when luck is positive.

1496  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: May 05, 2011, 06:28:37 AM
Didn't get much of an improvement over Phoenix with straight POCLBM, but I did manage to stabilize the system at 970/380, which is nice. Hashrate is slightly higher when I'm using the computer, which is always a plus. I may have to go back to 960/390 at some point if this crashes a lot, but I'm up and running for now. I did briefly see over 300 MHash/sec right before my system crashed. :-/

I have a suggestion, but it may be hilarious. Instead of 10.7 driver & 2.1 stream, Try the latest ATI.
Thats 11.4 driver & 2.4.595.10 APP.
Here's the link, http://www2.ati.com/drivers/11-4_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
But before installing it uninstall all ati/amd graphics drivers completely using Driver sweeper from www.phyxion.net.
I wish that helps u reach stable 300+ MH/s
1497  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [LOAN] 1000 BTC needed & will pay with interest for mining rig on: May 05, 2011, 06:15:11 AM
55 shares sold so far, gives me 55 btc & i have 10 btc with me now & another 3 in 3-5 hours.

Since i changed my cabinet & PSU to new one, the old iball cabinet is with me now +
I have a 15" CRT monitor Samsung 55V & Samsung keyboard M2A, which is from my first pc i bought in march 2000 & Logitech mouse.

I also have a GIGAbyte 8I945GZME mobo, core 2 duo intel, 512 MB RAM from mobo, 160GB HDD, DVD drive.
These are my frnds parts which he gave for service & its still with me for the past 4 months (don't know when he will call).

So, actually now i have a complete pc & i also try to mine with my old 9400GT card & stopped coz, it won't give anything.

Now i just need one 5870 card & one 750 W PSU, to start mining.

These are i decide to buy, since they are the cheapest available to me.
1.MSI 1024MB GDDR5/ATI HD5870/Military Class/Extreme Design R5870 Lightning II Graphics Card
2.Cooler Master GX 750W

For that i need totally 500-550 USD , thats 180 btc.
Already have 55+13= 68, so 180-68 = 112.
If another 100-120 shares sold, i can start mining with in 3-4 days.
3-4 days for getting the card & psu from seller.

Just have to convert btc to LR & i saw 2 sites converting them in India to my bank.
Also, saw one guy post in forum, that he exchanges, searching his post.....

So, please some one buy shares at least 100-120 sold will make me to start mining & biz in less than a week.

Okay well I'll get to it later then

Lets say I partition the HDD using Linux CD, it will leave windows alone incase it doesn't work?

Whats the recommended distro of linux?
Instead of partitioning u can try WUBI.
Today i am going to try it with Ubuntu 11.04

1499  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ubitex: In-person Bitcoin exchange [SERVER UP] on: May 05, 2011, 04:08:03 AM
Ubitex is same as mtgox, buying , selling bitcoins. But Ubitex still not operational, building site.
If u want to buy shares of Ubitex, thats already sold out.
He raised money by shares to built ubitex exchange through GLBSE.com

I meant GLBSE.

GLBSE is different than mtgox & ubitex.
GLBSE is share trading with bitcoins, while ubitex exchanges bitcoin with other currency.
you can buy ubitex itself in glbse, but not vice versa.
I understand this way only. Some one correct me if wrong.
1500  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: May 05, 2011, 03:56:40 AM

Tried that already, didn't work Undecided

U sure, you installed only these 3 & removed catalyst control center?
ATI display driver, ATI catalyst install manager, APP 2.3 (or) SDK 2.1 & VC++
Some times even VC++ not necessary.

In Afterburner, after u set eula that u agree....
u will reduce mem clk to min 525, clk apply, exit afterburner & restart after burner.
Now u will see the mem clk is 525, but the slider will be in middle. Move it down further to mem clk u want & apply & minimize afterburner.
