Let's wait and see what happens. So far nobody has been able to accurately predict BTC movements.

Falllling has... Cheesy
1483  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rise incoming November of 2014 on: November 08, 2014, 12:03:37 PM
I see many people thinking this way. Maybe it will happen just because of it, like self fulfilling prophecy?! Smiley

In June there were awfully many people in these forums chanting about "moon soon". This had to change, and it did. Now we have awfully many bears chanting the opposite. This has to change by the nature's law of conservation of irony.
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rise incoming November of 2014 on: November 08, 2014, 10:59:20 AM
Just as Bitcoin saw a huge rise in November of 2013 it will see the same in November of 2014 leading into 2015 which will be known as the year of Bitcoin.

To all you faggots that think otherwise.

2015 shit hits the fan, whatever that means but I believe it's bullish. I've had too many wet dreams confirming that.

edit:
Russia can put a BTC ban in place but they can't stop people from using it.
Drugs are banned in most countries, people still do it.
Speeding is a crime, people still do it.

OMG; TX PER DAY IS IN A BUBBLE!
1486  Economy / Speculation / Re: So how much have you lost this year by investing in Bitcoin? on: November 01, 2014, 11:40:54 AM
I have lost nothing.....I hold BTC.

All other *wealth* is seizbale.

BTC make you sovereign.
All wealth is seizable Sad Ask Ulbricht.

I still don't get it. Same goes to that Australian drug dealer. WTF, are they really so stupid that they keep their wallets unencrypted? No paper wallets? Who on Earth holds 30k bitcoins unencrypted on a hard drive? Or better yet, 140k.
1487  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp is bullying VERIFIED CUSTOMERS! on: October 31, 2014, 10:29:09 PM
it's worth having an account there if you have big amounts to exchange...

You are right and that's why it's so painful for me to actually stop relations with Bitstamp. I wish there was some other legit Bitcoin exchange in Europe. I would gladly use that one instead and even go through the painful verification process again. I just cannot accept the fact that the same Bitcoin exchange company would ask me to verify my account twice. It's just unacceptable. They are doomed to lose customers this way.

edit:
For the record, things are getting better now as I received this answer from the support:
Quote
Please note that we do not require you to provide another proof of residence document. We do kindly ask you however to attach a high quality photo of your ID document with a hand written note of when the image was submitted following the example bellow:

"[date of submission] For Bitstamp Limited Only"

Please note that the ID and hand written note must be submitted as one image.

Please attach the file in a reply to this ticket so we can proceed with changing your email address and re-enabling virtual withdrawals.

Their offer satisfies my interests because I can scan in ID, no problem. I just have a humongous problem getting a proof of residency.
1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoGraffiti - Block Chain Message Encoder & Decoder on: October 31, 2014, 05:31:25 PM
Shouldn't CryptoGraffiti be implemented as a sidechain, with the option to make as many changes to Bitcoin Core as the application needs? I started a related thread here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=838813.0

Seems like a plausible idea. If the same computer network secures sidechains too then it will probably work out pretty well.

edit: But... that still does not stop people from encoding messages into Bitcoin's block chain.
1489  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp is bullying VERIFIED CUSTOMERS! on: October 31, 2014, 05:24:51 PM
tl;dr
"Hey Bitstamp, someone is trying to hack my account!"
"Thanks for letting us know, I disabled withdrawals to keep you safe. You should think about the following to make your account more secure..."
"WTF Bitstamp, I was just messing with you. Why would you do that? How can I trust you to keep my money safe when you take me seriously when I lie to your support staff?"

Did I miss something pertinent there, or is that about it?

I had a fully verified account. All was ok. Then I requested password reset and now they want me to verify my account again. What's your e-mail? I will reset your password for you and you will have to verify your account again. Then let's see if you still think I'm making fun here and this topic is not for real. Fact is that I don't tolerate going physically to bank and scanning in paper documents. I did it once and if they demand it again they lose a customer. There has to be simpler way to do business with bitcoin exchanges. If you think it's all my fault then you got it all wrong because they are making a customer's life miserable while in reality a business should make the customer's life as simple as possible.

You need to remember that LBC is full of scammers, so you will likely spend a lot of time, at the very least protecting yourself against such scams, and will probably have a lot of failed trades because of a scam attempt against you. I would say that you are essentially trading the fact that you are essentially trading off the fact that you do not need to give up your identity documents for the fact that it will take many attempt to have a successful trade

It's not that I'm going to start daytrading on LBC. I never daytrade anyway. I would have no problem using an exchange such as Bitstamp having my account verified but I will simply not tolerate it if they make me verify my account every time they feel like it. Verification should be strictly a one time procedure.
1490  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp is bullying VERIFIED CUSTOMERS! on: October 28, 2014, 02:07:41 PM
I got an answer from Bitstamp saying that they will include my suggestions to the discussion of how to improve their services next time. That's all, I guess they didn't reactivate my withdraw possibilities so I'm pretty much done with Bitstamp.

However, I tested out localbitcoins for the first time last week and today I completed my first trade. I sold 10 euros worth of bitcoins to the user cortex and received the money as a SEPA transfer on the second banking day. My account in localbitcoins is Hyena by the way. So anyone who is having trouble with Bitstamp I recommend you use localbitcoins because they have made it really simple, no verification is needed. If you have used SR or BMR in past then you are already familiar with the way localbitcoins operates. The really cool thing about localbitcoins was that they have automatic SMS sending, so I actually receive an SMS immediately when my order is filled or needs my attention.
1491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Noticed something with charts on: October 28, 2014, 01:07:08 PM
Acid makes you see patterns/connections that you would never normally notice. Has anyone tried to analyse the bitcoin charts under a heavy dose of LSD? Tongue I'd be interested to review the scientific output of such an experiment.

By the way, if you think that emoticons are only used to express sarcasm then you're a step away from malignant paranoia.

Just hope you don't get an anal probe on your first encounter Tongue

If you don't think that's sarcasm, then I don't know what is.

Sarcasm is something you say while you obviously don't mean it. In the given example it would mean that I was actually meaning to say "Just hope you get an anal probe on your first encounter". That sentence does not make any sense because why would you yourself hope that you would get an anal probe? Now if you accuse me of secretly hoping that you would get an anal probe then you are just assuming that I am an evil person who wants bad things happening to you. The reality is that I don't give a shit if the aliens who might abduct you give you an anal probe or not. However, anal probe is sort of an alien-conspiracy-theorist-meme, so I injected the Tongue smiley to express how it makes me chuckle to even think about someone getting an anal probe from the grey aliens. It's sort of like a rape joke so I admit that I shouldn't be laughing but then again, we have all sorts of people. Some laugh at bad jokes, some don't.

1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin the New World Digital Currency? on: October 26, 2014, 11:57:00 PM
I guess you'll believe it when you see it. Just hope you don't get an anal probe on your first encounter Tongue should it ever happen.

This article might be important for you:
http://www.hollabackhealth.com/2010/12/five-reasons-to-stop-using-emoticons/

Interesting text but I disagree with the most of its contents as it stands for a rather subjective point of view. Like usually, we have a problem that is essentially based on a controversial issue. If it wasn't controversial there would be no argument as none of us here is really stupid. We all have common sense. However, as soon as things are no longer black and white all sorts of disputes are bound to happen. Homosexual marriage or not? Sex with animals or not? Emoticons or not?

Regarding the latter, emoticons are the lesser evil in this highly pragmatic way of communication, where memes dominate the internet space and one must state their sentence with the minimal number of bytes in order to prevent people from answering with TLDR. So what's the greater evil? --- Ambiguity. Without the help of emoticons we are doomed to have our intent misinterpreted. By the way, if you think that emoticons are only used to express sarcasm then you're a step away from malignant paranoia. It's the same as assuming that all people are evil and want to harm you.

That said, I remain at my stance that even though emoticons introduce a certain degree of degeneration from the literati's point of view, they do more good than evil. They give you a hint what the other person is communicating to you. Textual language alone has never been the perfect way of communication. Thus, we must compensate. Ever heard of the adage "a picture is worth a thousand words"? Sure you have. Now isn't an emoticon a picture?

Bitcoin the technology of a Type 1 civilization

The logical conclusion from this statement and the fact that we don't see any Type 2 and Type 3 civilizations (Fermi's paradox) is that EVERYWHERE else bitcoin-like technology never appeared.

Fermi's paradox is funny because it assumes that there is no hard evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial humanoid species while in reality there's a shit load of evidence that is unfortunately suppressed by the mainstream science.

One world currency has negative connotations, especially amongst conspiracytards, but I think bitcoin would make a great worldwide currency. Imagine being able to spend your bitcoins all over the world? I think that's the dream  / end goal of bitcoin to be honest.

Agreed. Hiring cheap Indian programmers hasn't been easier Cheesy
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin the New World Digital Currency? on: October 26, 2014, 01:59:35 PM
I can only say that if I was the one in the position of extraordinary power (as our current rulers from the shadow are), looking to overcome the market segmentation and rule the whole world, inventing a digital worldwide currency and hiding its "inventor's" identity would be the most logical course of action. To be honest, if  they really did do this, it's a truly work of art move as they made such an anti-authority guy as I am love the bitcoin. But even against all the odds, I am still hoping the romantic, rebellious version of the story ("Satoshi Nakamoto the hero outsmarted the powers that be" and all...) is how it really is.

I recall from Faust about Mephistopheles that he intends to do evil but his deeds always turn out to cause good. Perhaps it's the case with Bitcoin? That Illuminati invented Bitcoin to execute their evil plan but it goes terribly wrong Cheesy

Fact is that we need to have a store of value and a means to transfer value. In that sense Bitcoin is definitely the lesser evil.

"Total global economic collapse and the introduction of a new world digital currency...."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=3boC2D-iviI#t=758

Some people who are afraid of the New World Order have often accused Bitcoin for being the New World Digital Currency and thus Bitcoin is believed to be evil. It's weird to think that Bitcoin could actually be an important piece of the Illuminati's plan.

So, let's say Bitcoin and the block chain technology were never invented. What would be the new world digital currency then? Could it be the debit/credit card system? Apple pay? Just to try and take the position of a devil's advocate in this situation, is there any realistic possibility of how Bitcoin could turn out to be the new world digital currency that the referred video is talking about?

1500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoGraffiti - Block Chain Message Encoder & Decoder on: October 26, 2014, 11:52:25 AM
Could this service be changed so it uses recommended OP_RETURN outputs for messages? This would then keep these outputs out of UXTO.

It can but that does not stop people from encoding messages into transaction outputs. The current approach allows free, manual and immediate message storing while OP_RETURN would require a payment proxy that would make the actual transaction. The GUI of a typical bitcoin wallet such as Bitcoin-core does not let you to play around with OP_RETURN.

FYI, the site does not work on the iPhone.

Thanks for the info, I created an issue for the UI developers about that.
