Don't bother.
1502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So will 2015 be the year that home mining ends? on: February 03, 2015, 06:23:22 AM
I really think that lower power GPUs are a huge potential.  I wouldn't be surprised to see performance double and power costs half which would turn GPU farms back on again.

Errr... If that happens, you'd be in the same boat. Everyone's hash rate doubles, power consumption halved.. Few difficulty adjustments later and voila, barely off your knees and back down you go.

Face it, GPUs are done. They will never make a comeback, too many idiots willing to clear store shelves in the event of a bump in price thinking they'll become rich plugging risers.

Awesome! More details!  Grin
1504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what coin is the most suitable to mine with a GPU ? on: February 03, 2015, 06:12:14 AM
GPU mining is dead. Don't even bother.

On the other hand, let me know if you want to buy my GPUs.  Wink

Yeah, I used to be pretty bullish about LTC.. No longer. I really think it's future is sub 50 cents.

Here is a quick example i did not take to long to make it... but its in my 3D software just to show you a nice looking 3D Image Dose not mean they are legit = )

Badass. When do you start accepting preorders?
1507  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 02, 2015, 11:42:30 PM
Installed the new firmware on a few of my S4s, very glad to see an update for them from Bitmain.

Performance on p2pool is completely messed up, though. 225mhz hashes at 1950gh/s instead of 2225gh/s with the previous firmware. Strangely enough 212 and 218mhz works much better than 225, reaching about 2180gh/s at 218mhz.

Testing on ckpool right now, seems to work perfectly at 225mhz. Anyone know what's going on?

LOL

Gotta love the cgminer screen showing 2 gpus scrypt hashing from January 2014.

North Shore of Montreal Smiley

I assume the SP20 are actually the revised SP20E models since you're getting them in February?
1510  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antpool Hashrate Drop on: January 30, 2015, 06:08:26 AM
Possibly a problem with bitmain's farm?
1511  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 30, 2015, 04:09:00 AM
Ay of you guys giving this a try with your S4s? I posted results with one of my units in there.

Wow. Looks interesting. Got to give it a try.

PS. It's sad that the community has to provide solution for things which Bitmain is supposed to do....

Agreed. The least they could have done was include ck's superior cgminer into their firmware so we don't have to ssh into the machine every time a hash board dies and the machine has to be powered down, that would take all of 50 seconds. But we're still stuck with the same October 16th firmware since... Well, October 16th.

I live pretty close to you, local pickup available?
1514  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: January 29, 2015, 04:38:08 AM
Having access to 40MW doesn't mean they need to use it all. They could simply decomission their old hardware, and replace enough of it to stay at approximately the same speed as they were before. They would save a lot on power, and wouldn't start another arms race amongst manufacturers to maintain their piece of the pie. From there on, simply add power when necessary to keep your slice.
1515  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: OMG, Butterfly Labs refunded me and I made ROI!! on: January 29, 2015, 04:33:04 AM
Heh, gotta love that!  Grin

My best ROI story was canceling a KNC Neptune order. Paid ~11.5BTC for it, and was refunded ~27.5BTC.
1516  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s5 PCI-e connector help on: January 29, 2015, 03:51:09 AM
I'd be surprised if it was 80 Plus certified, let alone bronze.

Do you have a link to the PSU, mariogrip?
1517  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s5 PCI-e connector help on: January 29, 2015, 12:48:37 AM
Forgot to add that your monitoring the amps won't help you if you believe that PSU will actually supply 46A continuously without shitting  the bed. I wouldn't trust it past 25A.
1518  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s5 PCI-e connector help on: January 28, 2015, 11:08:06 PM
Your 30$ "600w" PSU will be dead in 2 days. If you're lucky, it won't take the miner with it.

I will hook my multimeter up to it, with a arduino (connected into multimetes circuit) so it can watch and cut the power (with a relay) if it uses too much amps... Don't worry the PSU will survive Smiley

I'm not worried at all, but I would be if that PSU was powering one of my machines in my home. It's a fire hazard. You can't cheap out of power supplies when you mine. I guarantee you that PSU is under built Chinese shit. Get something made by Seasonic, Flextronics, Superflower, or Delta. Server PSUs are also a great idea, as mentioned by sidehack. He's a pleasure to deal with BTW, don't hesitate to take him up on his offer. You won't do better for 50$.

Thanks for the review.

What PSU was used? Would like to know how efficient it is.
