This is funny but some water splashed to one of my antminer s4s Sad
all of the chains burned:
(removed images)
is it safe to run after this burned spot?
thanks,

I have to ask what did bitmain say to your ticket or email about it being safe?  I really want to hear response to it.

I think they will nicely say no on running, but wanted to hear.
Oh sorry,  I forgot to reply.
Yes they said that is not safe to run.
But it's running for almost a week and no problem. i put it in a safe palace and pointed to solo.ckpool !

When you say running what does the status screen look like?  If you are able to please post status sowing blades and chips.

I just had not seen one like this before.
I think you didn't see this line on my first post : "but one them still working(hashing)."
I just ran one blade with a little burn spot:

Others are completely useless.

I have 4 spare S4 hash boards if you'd like to repair your S4. Pm me if interested.

What's the latest order date to have shipped so far?
883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cat5e versus Cat6 on: September 24, 2015, 05:59:20 AM
What do I need to buy for my miners?  Cat5e or Cat6?  Thanks!

cat5/5e is fine for mining, i have 6 for my home network but for mining cat 5 is all you need . ,my home network is all  @1000 gib till it hits the net on fios but i have 6 just for my home use, it was cheap so i replaced my c5 to C6 .

Thanks everyone.  Do you think even if it is a 25 foot cable it doesn't make a difference?

25 foot should be fine i think but not sure beyond a 100 feet or so it starts to break down some .

Longest I have in my current is 50 foot.  I can say that it works fine for me.  No issues with mining over it.

I have not tried near the 100 mark though.  That is quite a ways but might be doable.

Ethernet cables are rated to 330 feet without issue before needing a repeater. My longest run is about 80 feet of Cat 6 direct burial to link my garage. Never had any issues, but only hit ~700 Mbps over the cable for some reason, not that it matters. I've been fishing Cat 6 these days to take advantage of my new gigabit fiber optic connection. Wireless AC wasn't cutting it!

Dear customer,
Thanks for your interest in our product.
We're arranging the shipment of S7 following order of full payment at the moment. But sorry to inform you that we don't have so many units that with announced hash rate of 4.86th/s miners. Right now, we have some miners with 4.66th/s and would like to ship them to you, for the missing part of hash rate, we'll provide you some refund. May you confirm whether it is OK for you?
Sorry for the inconvenience.

do anyone get this message ?

What email did it come from?

For sure! They're just a very small minority.

What are the rate in NFL/Labrador?

I don't know exactly, but for commercial I'm under the impression it is <$0.06 CDN/kWh net. But the moose!!!!

LOL! Yeah, I hear they don't have too many of these guys:

I'm going to have to read up on that global adjustment rate, sounds like a hot pile of bullshit. Gotta love our governments.

So talked with a rep on the phone and it looks like US Customs flagged 1 out of 2 total packages and now I have to pay $39.74 in taxes / duties / import fees.
She said customs probably overlooked my other package which is why only one was flagged
I didnt realize we have to pay these fees in the US, and what a bunch of BS that 1 must have made it through without discrepancy, but the other requires this fee? when its the same damn thing
I thought we're not supposed to pay import taxes if it's under $2.5K.
Must be nice!!!  Here in Ontario we generally pay 13% tax + brokerage + duty (if applicable) I'd love to pay $40 on an $1800 package!
I would probably love to have your power costs though.  I imagine you are paying no more than $0.05 to $0.06 cents per kWH?
Ontario not so much, they pay about CAD $0.14/KW I think. Quebec is better at CAD $0.08, but you have to put up with living in a shit hole province.

yeah, that's about right. ontario residential has time-of-use variable rate (0.08/12hrs, 0.12/6hrs, 0.15/6hrs)(plus ~0.02/hr in various fees) so the average is ~$0.15 CAD/kwh (~$0.11USD). I have some of my older gear on timers for nighttime only, and my spondoolies change their settings 2x/day to maximize income.

meanwhile in quebec its closer to $0.09-0.10CAD/kwh ($0.07usd/kwh) once you consider all the fees+charges, I don't beleive they have time-of-use, at least for industrial usage.

but we get screwed on import taxes for basically anything >$100, I remember back with the S1 bitmain would happily mark it as $200/ea

Quebec doesn't have time of use when it comes to residential accounts. The only fee is a 12$/month connection fee. I'm pretty sure sure the rate (residential) is 0.05c for the first 30KW of the day, and then 0.086c for the rest. I'll have to verify.
886  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 24, 2015, 04:42:23 AM
Lol Prelude!!!! There's some good people on your side of the river, they're just hard to find and/or understand, tabarnaque Smiley

Dmward, the exchange rate has helped tremendously, And you can negotiate some very good commercial base rates here even in Ontario (~$0.05 CDN/kWh) but we are subject to a Global Adjustment that varies monthly. It's supposed to be a + or - adjustment, but with these fucking liberals and their brilliant ideas on chasing manufacturing out of our province it's been strictly a positive value to the tune of an extra $0.09 as of lately. I'm really hoping it comes back down over the winter, but you know what they say about wishing in one hand and shitting in the other...

Newfoundland/Labrador is where it's at. Great moose hunting and dirt cheap electricity. What more could one ask for?

For sure! They're just a very small minority.

AJRGale, why do you call the GPU mining days the dark ages? I think of them as the golden ages, where there was freedom to participate. All you had to do was drop a few hundred bucks on regular PC hardware of you were off to the races. No greedy corporations monopolizing bitcoin mining *cough transaction verification servers cough*.

All bitcoin is today is a race between China, Russia, Sweden, and Israel to dump as much BTC as the market will support to get FIAT before it crashes completely. Bring back the dark ages of GPUs IMO.

Try living in Canada. We pay taxes on fucking EVERTHING, it's ridiculous. My Titan alone cost me $1500 in duties. Fucking piece of shit government.

Love the pics, Phil!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Please stick a Vtec sticker on your S7 and make it a complete package.  Grin

No difference for mining. Get Cat 5 or 5e.

I want to drop one of these in my basement, if anything just because I can.. My wife would get a kick out of that fan noise Smiley

I hope your wife is a weight lifter. Maybe she can help you carry it down the stairs. It must weigh in excess of 100 pounds.

 Smiley Smiley Smiley

100 pounds? LOL! I'd guess there's close to 100 pounds of PSUs, let alone the rest of the beast. I'm going to guess 500lbs.

Free SP50 for the closest guess, Spondoolies?  Wink Tongue

Pretty sure those of use who ordered S7s will never ROI. SP50s will destroy any chance we had with the massive difficulty increases they will cause.

probably, but it is one thing not to ROI to the tune of couple hundred and another to have the same with 25-30K.
I expect bitmain to go and price S7 super aggressively, if SPT will price theirs at or slighly above 25K.

I doubt it'll change the S7's price. Maybe if they were available to the public, but they're not. Even if they were, they are nowhere close to being in the same league. Spondoolies is Intel, Bitmain is Cyrix...

tech is good, but the direction is all wrong as far as bitcoin enthusiasts are concerned (bigger machines).
a manufacturer with 16nm tech at 0.1 J/GH and 10-12.5Th miner at a reasonable price will sell much more, of this I am certain.

Spondoolies isn't concerned about selling more. They're a self mining company now. They're likely going to sell just enough to large mines to recoup their development and manufacturing costs on the SP50 upfront to reduce their risk, and then close the doors to their customers to keep them from competing with Spondoolies/BTCS.

Very nice indeed, mining just took a giant leap forward. Decimal point missing on this page.

Extremely low power consumption (well below many competitors) and an estimated 4x improvement over current Spondoolies units (15J/GH compared to 0.61J/GH)

Yeah realm this,is a game changer, I just upgraded my basement to 200amp service and also getting another 150 amps in my garage I could handle two of these units, please someone start a group buy for this now!
.even with my bad electrity costs that's only $50 per day for that massive hashrate

Please Guy hook us up!

are you guys millionaires? dropping at least 50-52K at the moments notice.

I'm not a millionaire but I was getting ready to buy 24 S7's.  My next move will be carefully thought out.

I've never dealt with spondoolies-tech before.  Now they are definitely worth a look.

Hate to break it to you, but Spondoolies doesn't want to deal with you or I unfortunately. In all likelihood, they don't want orders under 1 PH/s or so. They'll probably sell just enough to outsiders to recoup their R&D + manufacturing costs upfront and then provide units to BTCS exclusively.

Hope I'm wrong!

So now we're down to just BITMAIN that's selling to the rest of us.  Sfards isn't shipping anything in any quantities or at any pricepoints that matter.

I for one, do not welcome our new mining hardware overlords and would like to see more competition.

SPTech, please tell me you have something planned that will be available to the home miner?

Yes, our only option is a Chinese manufacturer called bitmain. Hopefully they don't end up letting us down too, but I know they will. The people's currency is now in the hands of a few corporations. Gone are the days where anyone and everyone could participate by driving to their local PC shop to pick up a CPU or later a GPU. This is where greed has taken us.

i dunno, you gotta think people would be upgrading their large scale farms to sp50's which would take down existing gear.. diff will go up but it wont be massive.

unless of course said farms keep existing gear and just add on the sp50's.. or a plethora of new farm's come online

Hard to say. If someone or some group invested a lot of money to build 1+ MW infrastructures, they might want to take advantage of them by makxing them out with SP50s instead of just settling for the same speed at much lower electric costs. A lot of power companies will penalize such scenarios also by increasing the cost of power. They need to recoup their investment outside of your building.
