1501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was the maximum fee required for being confirmed within next block on: May 16, 2020, 04:12:54 PM
Recently, the fee is fluctuating a lot. It is very high for any small transaction if anyone wants faster confirmation or need faster confirmation.
When bitcoin saw the maximum fee required for getting confirmation within next block? As far as I know it is 2017 but I really do not know how much it is.
How much you paid for getting your transaction confirmed within next block?

The idiotic wallet fee guessing is one reason i don't bother with it and go with fixed fees. When things get really get rough, what your wallet "guesstimates" its needed for a "confirmation within a block" to the moment you actually broadcast, conditions could change fast enough that you may have to wait some hours the same as if you used a lower fee anyway.

Worse, the way it works the wallets can start feedback looping themselves into crazy rates too. Just say no to network fee estimation, set a fee, and go to sleep, tomorrow will be a better day and your transfer will probably be done by then. Its best to forfeit the instant transfer mentality and plan ahead like you would a foreign wire transfer (those can actually take weeks rather than days).

Beginning of 2018 was fun, it could take weeks for a transfer to confirm. But things changed ever since... Of course that's when a bunch of altcoins started promoting themselves as the "better" alternative, but the market didn't budge. Bitcoin is what matters because its safer among other things.
1502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am feeling Regret on: May 16, 2020, 03:59:05 PM
Hello,

Guys i have 44 Bitcoins in online wallet blockchain.
am feeling very regret now why i did not cashout funds when it hit to 10k$

now its 8.5k$ , i was expecting it will hit to 13k$ or 15k$ soon and then will cashout..

but now very few hours left for halving, so what do you think? its will again hit the 10k$ or up to 10k$?

my target to make $1M but i`m losing hope as it already very down now to 8.5k$.

sorry for my bad english.

Thanks and happy earning guys Cheesy

You should move that into an offline wallet and stop regretting, because after a few years it will be even more valuable.
Focus in long term rather than short term, bitcoin is a safe and stable savings wealth method. But please don't keep it online, create an offline wallet (its just a paper with 12 words) and move your funds there asap.

Cash out at 10k and regret later when it reaches 20k. The game never ends. And stop telling people how much you have, you are going to attract unwanted attention...
1503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin after the year of 2140 on: May 16, 2020, 03:54:36 PM
Have you ever wondered how the future of crypto land will be once all Bitcoin are mined by 2140? By that time, Bitcoin miners will be living off fees. It's expected that Bitcoin's price would be high enough to help sustain miner's operations. Bitcoin could be well worth over $1m by 2140, if all goes well. There will be a lot of demand for altcoins as digital cash, while Bitcoin will be the world's store-of-value asset. Scalability and privacy may no longer be an issue within the Bitcoin blockchain, as developers would've found a way to make the pioneer cryptocurrency useful for the world.

While we still have a very long way to go for this to happen, it's great to imagine how the future of Bitcoin and crypto will be after a century since their inception. I'm curious to know what do you think Bitcoin's future will be after 2140? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Bitcoin mining will become unprofitable probably a 100 years before that, so what you say will probably be experienced in our lifetime. This does not mean higher demand in altcoins, Bitcoins are scarce and thus more valuable. Just because you don't make money mining bitcoin does not mean it loses value, most of bitcoin's value is unrelated to mining (contrary to some beliefs). See after each halving bitcoin mining profit gets cut, as it was designed to, and the same happens to miners, because it is a transition to the stage where most bitcoins that there ever will be already exist and no more are coming (or take so long to come that its pointless to wait for them).

As i keep telling people, bitcoin price isn't rising to compensate miners. It does go up, but at a lesser rate than mining. Mining was, since the beginning, a temporary thing. Those that made models thinking mining will remain forever, where wrong since the beginning. You can't possibly expect endless mining with a coin with finite supply, this is how flawed that thinking is. But unlike an abrupt ending, the halvings make for a a smoother transition. Miners have the chance to plan their exit, as many have done.

Sooner than later, the only mining will come from hobbyists and those with "free" energy. By then the hashrate and difficulty would have gone down, but since its unprofitable anyway most won't bother. Bitcoin will go on just fine, of course.

My view about altcoins are contrary to yours. There are simply too many, most are destined to die. And people are not going to bother carrying 100 different types of coins. The only thing that matters in the end is: Can it be exchanged for bitcoin? And that is that. If a second or third altcoin manages to survive and get used, it would be a miracle.

I have warned miners before that the time to diversify or even venture into other business with the money they got from mining is now, and every day that passes, if they don't shrink and switch they will end in the red and lose all.
1504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is our killer app? on: May 16, 2020, 03:38:03 PM
The title says it all. Will it be an awesome game where people can earn bitcoin by competing? Will it be the lightning network allowing transactions to happen painlessly and without restrictions? A Library of content?

So much work is being done, but it still feels like we don't even have bitcoin wallets with nice GUIs and I know I'm not helping, it's not like I'm creating anything either. Is there something I'm missing?

This is a huge space and everyone is innovating, perhaps bitcoin is doomed to end up as digital gold, a safe place to hold and transact value and all the fun/frivolous things happening with alts. I hate all the restrictions placed on online gambling and all of that nonsense.

I wish I could play a competitive battle royale game where everyone bets some sats and everytime you kill someone you get a slice and the winner takes a big pot. I wanna bet on certain outcomes like what bitbet.us used to be. I wish I could buy stocks in a bitcoin stock exchange.

I mean, I have a lot of patience with bitcoin and big things are happening, with this past halving, our annual inflation rate is below the USD FED inflation target rate and I like that. I just can't wait for what's next to come.

I like the interface of Electrum (which is similar to core with enhancements), of course the PC version, the mobile version is dumbed down and misses some features. What do you want with a wallet interface anyway? To me a wallet must absolutely let you pick a transaction fee (so i can use 1sat/B, copy paste addresses and show / read qrcodes.

As for bets, I'm sure there are betting sites for esports and such. Or do you want the betting to occur in game? Most game developers avoid this because legislation would prevent their games from being released in many countries. This is not bitcoin's fault, its just that gambling is not seen the same worldwide. Of course, you could entice the Casino's or betting sites to develop their own games, but to them its cheaper and easier to simply let players bet on existing games. I doubt this situation will change much, and this is unrelated to Bitcoin.

To this i would add my own pet peeve: Why no MMO is using bitcoin or some altcoin directly at least? They all use some sort of virtual money that resides in a server, and many make you to buy fake money with real money for virtual items (not unlike plastic tokens in a casino i guess?). Some MMOs have very interesting economies going on, you can literally trade in their "auction house, or shop, whatever" depending on game even without you directly getting involved in the extraction or transportation (tho that can be done too). Of course this would be a way of allowing real money in those games.

I guess most of the problem lies in legislation. If you forfeit the US, EU and minors, you can probably have those games developed in some nice Caribbean country or such. Do you have the capital to start such endeavor?

Digital gold is not a problem, once you understand Austrian economics, which has always pushed for the use of gold (not a gold backed coin) as money. A century after those proposals, we have digital gold which is even better. When the world decides to adopt Austrian economics, current fiats and most altcoins will be a thing of the past. If the USD finally collapses (thanks to indiscriminate printing), this will probably get in motion since there is Bitcoin now.
1505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashrate is dropping on: May 16, 2020, 03:14:45 PM
As you can see above, hashrate is decreasing after the halving as expected. Due to that, the fee has increased and according to bitcoinfees, the recommded fee is 150 sat / per byte and there are a lot of unconfirmed transaction.
After halving, we can say some miners have left. What do you think? More miners will leave too? And what if hashrate drop more?

NO. The fees and the hashrate are unrelated. Fees go up and down according to network traffic, this is separate to the network hashrate.

Of course some miners would leave. Moments before the halving was 140 EH/s or so, and its like 85 EH/s currently. In order to not change, bitcoin's price would had to double, which didn't, as it was my expectation. It fell somewhere between 7.5k and 15k (with 15k being double).

Anyway the hashrate only matters to miners, since it affects difficulty. As for the fees, remember that "recommended" is not "required". You can always force your wallet to use 1 Sat/B, it'll just take a bit longer than usual (one day rather than one hour, for example). Due to the unfortunate flood of wallets that attempt to guess a "recommended fee", a feedback effect occurs and its simple to manipulate those fool wallets into crazy fees (since they all start competing with each other after some whale or exchange moves some funds to their cold wallet or such).
1506  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: BCH, BSV y otros intentos de controlar Bitcoin on: May 15, 2020, 04:25:22 PM

1507  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Próximo Halving de Bitcoin on: May 15, 2020, 03:58:55 PM

No puedo entrar a blockchain on: May 15, 2020, 03:54:18 PM

1509  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: Alternativas a Ckpool.org on: May 15, 2020, 03:40:50 PM

1510  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Próximo Halving de Bitcoin on: May 14, 2020, 10:30:03 PM

1511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network, is it a good solution? on: May 12, 2020, 02:18:27 AM
Either way LN is optional, you can use it or not if you want. In my opinion, i should not be used except in the exceptional circumstance that you need an instant payment. Most payments don't need to be instant, people commonly wait hours or days for wire transfers.

And, it is currently not recommended for large sums (and may not be desirable for that anyway).
1512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Halving! on: May 12, 2020, 02:14:30 AM
Happy halving i guess. Well i though for a moment that it was Slushpool but no, it had to be the Chinese overlords... Ah well.

The price has been very good, remarkably stable. I hope people calm down and see Bitcoin for what it truly is.

Thanks for all these years and effort, the last zero fee pool with transparency will be missed...

Congratulations! So much for "bad luck" huh?

Yes, this is the very first second block after the halving...
1515  Other / Off-topic / Re: What have you done with your $1200? on: May 10, 2020, 06:22:59 AM
But you think the USD can never fail, that printing a few trillion dollars to give people "free money" won't do a thing...

I thought your government was borrowing the money?

No one is loaning any more money to my country for the past few years, which is good because those in power would keep wasting it and taking some for themselves. Of course Maduro blames capitalism and US imperialism and just adds more zeroes to the State bank accounts to keep paying wages etc like the budget was infinite, because inflation is a capitalist lie from Americans to destroy socialism...

Not unlike Mugabe and the long list of ruling idiots in 40 centuries of human history...

Yes there are countries where organized prostitution is legal, and the State even licenses and health checks the establishment.

However, regarding COVID-19, this is absurd. If a single infected enters the place, it will very likely spread to everybody else in there. This is the same to any kind of place where people visit; it is pointless to make people sit away from each other inside, when everyone is getting in and out thru the same corridor, where a single sneeze or cough could very well spread the virus to everyone else walking the same path later...

No, this is one of those things that should remain closed until the pandemic is over, unless you do the same as with restaurants: Delivery only... (and hope the person isn't infected).

And yes, i know this might be shocking to some, but look at wikipedia.

Its like drugs. Just because they are legal in some place, doesn't mean everyone is doing it. Do not prejudice people...

Granted, in that kind of place, there are other types of virus you should be more worried about, many without a cure or vaccine...

Yo siempre uso 1 Sat/B.

1520  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: China dice adios al USD, comienza guerra comercial mundial on: May 09, 2020, 07:29:34 PM
