Monero as in Money Nero = Black Money? Shitty name if you're looking for trouble.

You should consider a rebranding like Dash did.

No. Make sure your assumptions are correct before commenting on them.
Monero is "currency" in Esperanto.

The nero=black suffix is still there and ugly if you ask me. Doesn't look good.

http://dictionary.reverso.net/italian-english/nero

Once you've had black you never go back--especially if the choices are between an opaque blockchain and a clear one.

I think you've made the argument for the name stronger, not weaker.   Wink

Well at least one of you guys has the balls to say it like it is. You're wrong though. The Black Money name is good for a limited niche of cryptodope fiends, smoking stuff bought from your black market of choice but poor choice if you want to have a broad appeal.

You are just obnoxiously trolling at the moment. Like binaryFate stated, Monero means "currency" in esperanto.
I think the name is perfect, Esperanto is supposed to be a universal constructed language while Monero is a universal constructed currency.  It also doesn't have "coin" in it which is something Dash got right.

Esperanto is just a big failed experiment just like moNERO. Everyone's speaking English these days. No one gives a shit about Esperanto. Just some useless concoction of some fools in academia.

I love how your actions paint a clear picture of you being a troll:

1. Price spikes

2. You come here and all of a sudden complain about "nero" in the MONERO name. lol

3. Fail

Don't be mad, if you missed the boat...just get on at a higher price.  Cheesy

you can also choose from these multiple options.
jeez

Yeah whatever. It's a name destined to fail. No one will take black money seriously. It's cool if you only wanna spend it for underground drug dealing BS but that's pretty much it. No way this will go mainstream unless you go through a re-branding like Dash did from Darkcoin.

Money Nero has long way to go.

I will.

Now your presumption is debunked.

Market on a tear lately....gonna need some time to cool off at some point (?)

Monero is a dead coin.  Someone decided to throw a few satoshis and pump and dump it.

a few satoshis is not 2000-3000 BTC. lol
1565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is current monero's rise legit or just a pump and dump thing? on: February 16, 2016, 06:18:54 PM

AS stated previously, Monero is not an alt-coin.

It offers something very different than what Bitcoin currently offers users.

I think ICE said it...it should be a comp-coin.

I have a present for you, Monero fans.

What monero operating system?

What did I miss?

Alright, so I was added to DT1 and am willing to add a few users if they truly deserve it (people I have overlooked). Feel free to make suggestions of people I should add (obviously I need reasons).

Edit: I will be very active with my list...

Feel free to add me if I'm not already on that list.

No pressure.

Yeah my green score is dropping...lol who cares as long as I know i'm honest that's all that matters  Tongue
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 15, 2016, 09:49:30 AM
short term chart:

consolidation in the next few days is my bet. But when we break that wedge, I expect even higher volume and a spike towards 0.0028-0.0030 BTC

somehow I agree with the movement..just not the time frame.

The wedge is too short term to tell much of anything at this point.  larger wedge may emerge and draw this out a bit more before there is a decision one way or another.
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 14, 2016, 07:24:07 AM
First and foremost, that code hasn't been implemented yet into the main chain of Monero.

It hasn't been implemented in any chain whatsoever.

That is purely R&D work on cryptography. Maybe that's how he came across the math issue, I don't know the details.

@erok There is no such bug in Monero itself. It uses the proper method for key images, not the incorrect one.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't run a PR campaign around it then. Tongue

Then again, that's not the type of guy I am.

You appear to be the type of guy that is butthurt that you are invested in a broken cryptocoin and someone found a pretty big bug in SDC.

It's better to have the truth out about the technology you choose to use than to have it swept under the rug....like DASH.

Shall I still lock the topic?  Or is it still serving a purpose?

Well it seems to be serving A purpose of pumping monero lol

 Cheesy

Which system is used more by people? SDC or MONERO?
I'm not person with much technical knowledge.
Why DASH still have much more volume than those two mentioned?

Please get your facts straight:

I already did. I see you like kicking an investor while he is down almost as much as the community enjoyed this PR blast. While I appreciate the clarity I still think you all went about it in the most abrasive way possible ("digging in mud" and "flinging crap"). Now you want to keep taunting me or you about ready to move on? Because as an investor, I am about ready to move on.

I do suppose I owe an apology though to iCEBREAKER for calling him a  "punk bitch". Sorry about that. Same goes to AP. I couldn't swing my sword fast enough.

It's not about kicking somebody when they're down, it's about cutting through the denial/deflection and utilizing the teachable moment.

You started the abrasive stuff; I merely dialed it up until you had enough (never wrestle with a pig... Wink).

Anyway, apology accepted.  You are welcome to join us on Monero Mountain.  We have ponies, beer, and wine!   Cool

...and Smoothies  Wink

Key resistance level broken on volume:

Horizontal line is 167-168k satoshi.

to me resistance is at 0.002
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 13, 2016, 04:19:39 AM
If you find a game breaking bug in Monero, please shout it from the rooftops.  Everyone needs to know - that's how you handle game-breaking bugs.

If the community chooses to continue despite it - or chooses to fix it, that is a course for the community to decide.

But errors and flaws are most malicious and evil when they are selectively shared or kept secret.  Making a lot of noise about it is the *responsible* thing to do because then it forces the issue to either get fixed or the asset reconsidered.

I can assure you that if such an error is found in one of my assets, my response will not be to attack the person who found/spreads the information.  The truth does not fear inquiry and does not mind being challenged.
You just used it to try to steal the marketcap. Don't even try to take the high road.

Proof please.

Otherwise your comment is all speculation.
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: February 09, 2016, 10:11:35 PM
WARNING: Always check you're using https when connecting to xmr.to, a malicious TOR exit node made a victim already.

Somebody was recently scammed of a significant amount of XMRs when he tried to use XMR.TO over TOR.
After a little investigation, we found out what happened: the TOR exit node was malicious, and created an order going to a different address than that requested by the victim. The victim payed the XMR, but never got the BTC, as they were sent by XMR.TO to the scammer address. XMR.TO had no way to know something wrong was going on.
This type of man-in-the-middle attack is not possible when you use https connection. What the exit node did is to downgrade the connection to a normal http, and sadly the victim must not have noticed the lack of secured connection in his browser.

The malicious exit node has the IP 109.201.154.186.

Be safe: ALWAYS check within your browser that your connection is secure when you connect to XMR.TO. If it's just http, that's a phishing version and you're not talking to XMR.TO directly.

This should always look like this:

This is a sign that XMR is starting to take shape in terms of perception of value.

Once people are willing to scam for XMR and they go through the trouble to do so...it says XMR is valuable.

How valuable? The free-market will decide that.

Good to see the dev team communicating.

Good sentiment.

Market appears stable in USD value.

Fundamentals have not changed.

Watching.

Please explain the exact context he used.

I assume a similar one to the one I just used. I wasn't in the channel, and thus, I didn't take the screenshot without context.

So how would you know it was out of context if you have no proof and you weren't a witness?

Seems counterintuitive.
1579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: January 25, 2016, 05:00:56 AM

wow did he really say that?

And he obviously was referring to Bitcoin Classic?

wow

This is obviously out of context, but hey, whatever.

Anything can be changed in Bitcoin. Even without old nodes even noticing they're broken in the form of segwit.

Miners decide what to run, there is no dictator, there is no Core.

Jonathan has no more power than Maxwell or anyone else.

Of course anything can be changed if enough support for it is garnered.

But for someone to say that doesn't that give the wrong impression that it is an "option" to change the parameters of the total amount of bitcoins to something else?

What context was that said in? And I don't mean in the "anything can be changed context". Because that's like saying theft is an option or central planning (bank) is an option. Inflating the supply is theft to current bitcoin holders.

Please explain the exact context he used.
