Sri Lankan having good history in cricket with there were many legendary players also part of this team as well but sadly due to domestic issues now they are down and out of the ranks which is surely matter of concern but due to financial difficulties they are also unable to have strong domestic cricketing system which provide them good players consistently even still they have few good players but as team their performance are not good as they need to be.
In first ODI, they were completely outclassed by Afghanistan first in batting and then in bowing, but they have done good comeback in second ODI with now most chances they will keep this momentum and try to win this series which will help them for having better results in coming matches as well.
A decade back countries like Srilanka & Pakistan had players who had the ability to single handedly win a match for their country. At the moment I do not see such players and will not see them coming unless the respective boards in est heavily on talent grooming. Why would they? Is their a clause added that they need to explain themselves. No one was forced to participate in their bounty campaign and in the ICO! First match Srilanka lost because the opening batting pair did not perform. Second match the opening batting pair gave Srilanka an ideal start. First match Afganistan bowled brilliantly. I am suprised everyone here is pointing DLS as the reason why GT lost the match. I am confident almost none have watch the match. DLS was the reason why CSK was struggling to chase the target in the last two over.

DLS was a benefit to GT as per my opinion as in 15 overs it is hard to chase a target of 170+. CSK won because of Sir Jadeja and not because of MSD or any other player. I am just imagining the pain this young guy went through before he took his life. Rather than fighting against his addiction he succumbed to it. I feel extremely sorry for the family and his friends. I am also angry why non of them intervened when he started sports betting. Why none of them questioned him? Who knows they might have but in the end the outcome of his addiction went on to take his life. Such incidents may be happening daily but only a few gets reported. Sri Lanka is more likely to win against Afghanistan but based on the recent performances the two teams will be almost on equal footing in the recently concluded IPL where the Afghan cricketers have performed brilliantly in batting and bowling. Every player who has performed in the IPL is in the squad against Sri Lanka except Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan's absence may be some comforting news for Sri Lanka. So far 3 overs have been played where Sri Lanka have already lost one wicket. If the wickets fall so quickly in the ODI match, the team is in a lot of batting trouble. I don't want to put any team forward for now because Afghanistan bowling line-up can destroy any batting line-up at any time.
As per the ODI team ranking Afghanistan is right above Srilanka. As per overall performance of the Afghanistan team in ODI they have not played a lot of bilateral matches this year. Therefore the stats shows better than Srilanka. The biggest benefit for Srilanka is that they are playing on their home ground. The wicket does help the spinners and both team have good spin attack. The media rights holder (Star Sports) paid an additional premium because there are matches between India and Pakistan (1 match in group phase, and at least one more in the playoffs). In case Pakistan pulls out, and get replaced with United Arab Emirates (since they finished as the runners up for the ACC Premier Cup), then the India vs Pakistan match is not going to happen and Star has every right to ask for a refund. If India pulls out of the tournament, then it is going to be even worse. In that case Star will ask for a 100% refund. If it was in the contract then I don't think it will be an issue. ACC would have taken into consideration the repercussions. Above all ACC has not removed Pakistan from the tournament. It is Pakistan which has said in multiple times that they will boycott the Asia cup if hosting rights are revoked. Now, the onus will lie on PCB and not on ACC. |

It's true that currently situation are not good in Pakistan but till September situation will not be same, there will be a decent change done as Supreme Court order for quick elections and after new government formed things will be totally normal, so by making these things as a reason of transferring Aisa Cup form Pakistan will be fool decision.
I am pretty sure that if Asia Cup venue transferred from Pakistan or play Asia Cup without them then difinitely they will bycott world cup which will be big disaster and loss for Cricket boards , ICC , broadcaster, and Fans.
