681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 23, 2023, 12:53:32 PM
His gamble with BSV has failed and he needs something to revamp the cryptocurrency, which he says is the original Bitcoin blockchain. He also knows that his fakeology will not hold long when the investigation is completed or the dispute is resolved. In the meantime, he would gain some advantage by getting free publicity on media portals even in mainstream media. BTW, no one cares what is happening with him, the more we discuss him the more he would be able to get free publicity. Ignoring him is the best solution for him to die down from the limelight.
682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the transaction fee hike on ORDI? on: December 23, 2023, 12:44:07 PM
Btc fee = 0.43$ ?? I think you selected other network as normal btc withdraw fee in binance is more than 29$ now.

He is using WBTC on the Binance smart chain BEP20 which is not Bitcoin, it is an altcoin.

it is always good to check transaction fee before making a transaction because if you don't check your transaction fee you might loose a lot of fund to transaction fee.

That is correct before processing any transaction on any blockchain it is a good habit to check the fee. If not then accidentally anyone would pay more fees than the value of the crypto. I have not invested in ORDI so I would not know the withdrawal fees applicable, it would be high as they use the Bitcoin blockchain which is facing heavy congestion due to the ordinals.

As for USDT, the fees are mostly small in almost all networks and it is around that 1USDT for almost all networks.

It is not always 1 USDT for all other blockchains, especially on the Ethereum blockchain. It varies from 1 USDT to 5 USDT depending on the blockchain used.
683  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: December 22, 2023, 02:05:23 PM
Sanju Samson played very good yesterday considering the batting and keeping he has been doing in the past. I mean playing one game when you get a century doesn't mean he is better than what he used to be earlier.
.
A small stint of getting a century won't help him as he is now outnumbered by others. In this case most of them in his position and if I think correctly he is eyeing the position of Kholi.

Can he overthrow Kholi and get cemented in that position? You would need much more to overcome the GOAT in ODI & Test cricket. I haven't seen anyone who could do better that Kholi in that position in both the format.

Considering T20 format he is still way behind then those youngsters. He is not just good for T20 as he takes time to come into the sense that he is playing a short format of cricket. I saw today a lot of article got published about his ability as a batter and how much he was suffering from depression. Thankfully, he is out of that mental issue
684  Economy / Reputation / Re: Light_warrior / Memorial thread ... 🕯️ on: December 22, 2023, 01:49:40 PM
It seems light_warrior was given a memorial title.

He deserved it! Found out that his daughter doesn't want to accept the money that was donated by you and few other members of the forum. I don't think it would be right to use those funds for predicting the Bitcoin price in Games and rounds. I felt we should have kept that amount in the escrow wallet incase in the future his daughter needs that amount.

As per her wish you are doing what she asked, that doesn't mean we forget the harsh reality. He was living as a refugee and anytime things could get from bad to worse for her. It is you decision as you are the biggest contributor to those funds.
685  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Campaigns in the Service Board on: December 22, 2023, 01:30:18 PM
Now to my question: Fees have been going wild lately and I've already seen some campaigns switch to payments over other networks while still remaining in the Bitcoin Service board (and advertising paying in BTC). Am I to assume this is alright? I've been paying roughly $200/week per campaign in fees for the last few weeks and would much rather pay less as long as nothing would change as to where I can post
 campaigns and contests.
Ideally if it is not about Bitcoin payment then it shouldn't be present on the Service board. Regardless of it being a temporary issue or not, any other payment option due to the current situation, the thread should be shifted to altcoin board.

I did read a few replies about LN on this topic, it is a good option but the question that comes to my mind can LN wallets handle such a big amount that goes into $1000 every week or more. Well, it would be nice, if anyone here who can give the right information. The problem with LN is that a lot of campaign members don't think it as an alternate option to Bitcon payment. In current situation it should be considered as an alternative.

I won't think anyone likes what is presently happening with the transaction fee. When will this network congestion end we all are uncertain. Then why not utilize a secondary option like LN in the meantime, if it allows.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin will bring you hope and gambling will leave you destitute. on: December 22, 2023, 01:07:20 PM
This incident proves to what extent a gambling addict can go. I converted the amount $18000 to the local currency  of Bangladesh and it comes around to one million nine hundred seventy-five thousand taka. As per my understanding this is not a small debt for anyone from the middle class.

I don't know how this guy was able to get into neck deep debt. I feel he would have borrowed that amount to use it for gambling. Being an army man he would have got loans from state owned financial institution. I think he might have used this opportunity to get loan and gamble assuming he would make it big if one-time the jackpot hits. He might have now understood it the hard way, which is kind of sad as his family and his father now get dragged into this mess.

687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: December 22, 2023, 12:48:16 PM
More, more, more! I admit it hurts a little but at the end of the day I seldom send as a DCA guy, I usually receive and yes, that means I don't really need to worry much.

Just yesterday I needed to send, but I have an "exchange" hot wallet. Paid only 15k sats so still under a dollar. Bring high fees on!

If you are receiving then you don't need to worry. That doesn't mean everyone here is only recieving and hodling. There is a significant number present here who does both, that is recieve & send, they are the ones who are getting affected because of high fees.

15k Satoshi is still a significant amount as transaction fee. I remember a time when 12 Satoshi or above was considered high fee. I did pay the same amount when I made a transaction using my Electrum wallet.

The fees would come down but the vulnerability has exposed how developers are slowly making Bitcoin in accessible to small investors. Which for me is not a good signal if we want Bitcoin adaptation to go to the grass root level.
688  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending Service Started! (USDT/BUSD/BTC/LTC/ETH/DOGE/ETC)! on: December 21, 2023, 04:22:39 PM

690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 21, 2023, 01:25:08 PM

It's better to ignore any stranger, chance your app security settings, they won't be able to get to you unless you are the one that PM them first, strangers don't always have the best interest in mind.

It is better to ignore a stranger that is the best thing anyone can do, but what about the stranger contacting you representing a famous influencer? For example, let's take Elon Musk who is very active on his bought platform X.com. He is always trying to manipulate the crypto market with his tweets, knowing a tweet came out from his handle about a meme coin, a scammer would recreate the same product on both the Ethereum blockchain, BSC, and as of now Bitcoin blockchain.

For Ethereum and BSC, we know how to verify, but what about Bitcoin blockchain? Is there any way to cross-check a project? I am not aware of such a thing and that is the reason I have asked this question. In recent times the amount of spam created by Ordinals is beyond anyone's control and the way developers are reacting gives me a bad omen is coming soon.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners extorting people that are making transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 01:01:21 PM
Extortion is a big word and it is aligned with criminal activity, the transaction fees are very high which I agree. I today paid the same amount of $10 as the transaction fee. The transaction was confirmed within 10 minutes which was fine as it was my requirement, which I am not happy about. There was a time before these high fees when we used to pay 12 or 20 sat as a fee on the Bitcoin blockchain. Nowadays we are paying 200 or more sats for a transaction, which made me recall the time when ETH was going through the same phase. The fee at that time on the Ethereum blockchain was way higher than what we are seeing now on the Bitcoin blockchain. Eventually, it will go down as soon as the hype of Ordinals goes down the drain.

Miners are making the best out of this issue before halving, they are the ones who make Bitcoin what it is meant to be. While they make more than what they expected, it would be unethical to call them extortionists. They are doing what they are supposed to do which is to give preference to those transactions that pay high fees. They are not doing anything illegal here and are only following what the blockchain is set for them to do. The problem is being created by those idiots who are trying to pay fees which most of us won't dare to do.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to speed up a transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 12:39:46 PM
Go to memepool.space and input the transaction ID on the search bar. After you input it check the ETA time and beside it, you will find Accelerate. Click on it to know the cost. Below is the image that shows the Accelerate button.

The Accelerate screen displays three transaction fees and the time it will take for confirmation. Depending on your requirement you could choose the fee, but you would need to first register to accelerate a transaction. It is similar to RBF but the issue here is that you cannot control the fee for the transaction. Below is the screen that you will see after you have clicked the Accelerate button.

I have personally never used this new system on memepool, I feel it is far better than those BTC accelerators available in the market and the fee is not that bad.

693  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: December 21, 2023, 10:16:28 AM
The series decider match will be played today. Can KL Rahul and his new team win the series? We need to wait for the game to get over to find out. I don't think any changes will be made to the current team. If the management does then it will be a few batters and a bowler. South Africa looks better as a team and they can win the series without any doubt.

Snip.
That is 100 percent fake news as only those players are auctioned who confirm they would be free during the IPL schedule. Otherwise anyone can manipulate the franchise with such excuses.
694  Local / India / Re: Report Good Post on: December 20, 2023, 06:40:42 PM
I have a big list of post which I have gathered from the local board. I have chosen those that I felt are worthy of merits. I will be forwarding them to hugeblack as per my discussion with him. I won't commit that those post would get merited as it is not in my control.

Going forward this thread would be only used for publishing links of post that I think are worthy of getting merits. I am going to post those links tomorrow here and then I will lock it.

696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 05:04:35 PM
The whole concept of Bitcoin being the cheapest payment system already got ruined after 2017. Then came a time when institutional investors started buyin Bitcoin and we saw a new ATH. Everything was looking good until these guys, ORDI started utilizing the infrastructure for their own shit agenda.
I'm curious where did you read "the whole concept of Bitcoin is cheapest payment"? I didn't find it through the whitepaper.
I am assuming that you have read the whitepaper! Then answer my simple question, why and what was the reason Bitcoin was created? Please quote me the page number from the whitepaper, if you reply to my question. Otherwise you would become another troll replying for the sake of quota.

It was never about cheap fee, it was about fees that were below those that the government charged as at that time Bitcoin was the only payment entity that could get funds from one country to other in a few hours in the cheapest of fee.
697  Other / Beginners & Help / STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 20, 2023, 02:01:49 PM
As the USD value of Bitcoin rises, you would now come accross numerous posts accross multiple social media platforms and Chat apps. They as in the the scammer would offer anyone with lucrative offers.

The biggest one would be to make you realise that you can use multiple avenues for your portfolio to get a big push, if you allow them to handle it. Next, it would be airdrops which will ask you to surrender your Private Key in the end after going  through their requisite.

Another one would be a pump and dump group showing you how much they make a profit everyday through paid signals
In the end it would be a project copying others or a new one trying to cash on the trend.

In the current scenario when AI has the ability to swap face and make it sound like an original influencer or a celebrity talking. It is better to research before you invest to gain double or triple multiplier. The best you can do is to avoid them.

The time has come when understanding crypto in detail and DYOR more than earlier has become a necessity. If you don't understand anything happening in the market then stay away and do not become greedy to ride the wave. Things are not so good as they were earlier post 2021.

698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 01:28:36 PM
Consider the situation we were in 2021 and then considering the present situation we are in, what do you think is the problem? Most of us would say nothing! I would say it is the transaction fees, won't you agree on this part.

The whole concept of Bitcoin being the cheapest payment system already got ruined after 2017. Then came a time when institutional investors started buyin Bitcoin and we saw a new ATH. Everything was looking good until these guys, ORDI started utilizing the infrastructure for their own shit agenda.

What has happened now? High transaction fee, congested Bitcoin blockchain and continuous discussion about Ordinals. Cursing the miners and what not!

Where are we going as a Bitcoin community? What do the developer plan for the future? Is this infestation being done by the government? Let's discuss possibilities or we might end up with nothing before the next halving.
699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 20, 2023, 12:56:27 PM
This is no longer "can", bitcoin has already created the opportunity for poverty rate to be reduced by creating an opportunity for investment. There use to be a big gap for the poor and average to fill before becoming rich, but with bitcoins, an opportunity have been created that can help the poor fill the gap and turn their fortune in a very short time.

Please enlighten me as to how the gap between the rich and the poor has been filled by Bitcoin. My knowledge base says it cannot be done as 1 Bitcoin cannot be bought by a poor. If a poor gets money and tries to buy Bitcoin in small amounts, the next issue a poor guys will face is the sudden increase in Bitcoin transaction fee, which can go upto $40 in the current situation.

Don't bluff! Give facts to counter your reply as without facts nothing seems convincing. My observation is that Bitcointalk forum can get a poor person out of poverty, if he/she has the ability to grow in the forum. Without this forum many here would have achieved nothing. Bitcoin is for everyone and so is the forum, which you would know how it has helped you and many more like us to achieve financial liberty.
700  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: December 20, 2023, 12:45:29 PM
I skipped yesterday's match, knew India would lose and RSA would make a comeback. Watched the highlights now on hotstar. S. Sudarshan batted very well and so did the captain, back to back half century from the youngster. Another cricketer in the making, so many talents India has, still we didn't win the World Cup.

IPL auctions have always been controversial. The franchisee have always been crazy when auctions come up. I still remember Charu Sharma buying players for a franchise at a hefty amount in the first season and all those players were a flop. I don't remember the franchise for which he worked as a manager. If anyone remembers the name then do remind me.
