A day or two later the price is rising.
Now it's ~$540

It touched $80 for a bit there. So why is no one (or at least not enought people) arbitraging the latter? I think it has to do with being locked into the investment for 12 months or something.. so arb'ing is impossible apparently. |

You are neglecting to consider the possibility of capital flows into bitcoin from other assets.
For example if bitcoin took 1% of gold's value.. or 1% of FX market.. or black market etc. etc. That would increase your base value by some.

Could be kind of a psychological barrier for some, breaking 500 etc. Once we go past 500 it could power through to even greater heights.
It could happen in the next few weeks. The price is around $498 now. That is just 2 dollars from $500. and you thought it would take days for it to go from $498 to $500? seriously? after it went from $440 to $498 in a matter of hours you'd think the final $2 takes days? Bitcoin is not going to be that high and that is because you know that the price of the Bitcoin was already stable for a long time and it needs to recover also so it needs time.
But there is maybe a possibility that it will reach the $800 after some 5 years so that is a long way to go.
You're in for a surprise then. |
