161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PROBLEMS? LOOKING for A Superior ANON COIN? Look no further, you're just in time on: September 24, 2014, 10:45:08 AM
I've bought myself a small stash. You never know. Could be the next Monero.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Coins stolen/ Hacked be warned on: September 24, 2014, 08:57:17 AM
Threads like this annoy me.

Mainly because, it's always NXT that's blamed, and not the user for not taking adequate security measures. In cases such as these, it's never proven to be an NXT security flaw. It could just as easily have been a trojan on your PC, a keylogger, or a man-in-the-middle attack, if YOU got hacked, then there's nothing wrong with NXT. Your system was compromised.

That's like blaming the bank because someone stole your credit card.

Security could be much better with NXT, and that is where the criticism should be aimed here, but I seriously doubt someone managed to "hack" into your NXT account unless they compromised you or your password. Otherwise, people would be losing NXT left, right and centre.

Perspective, please.

What actually happened on Poloniex? Is there an official or at least reliable explanation? Are coins there safe? Anyone?

Could be totally unrelated to Monero. Also, doesn't make sense to DDOS an exchange if you're trying to kill an alt.

The other obvious fact is that end of Q3 is about 8 days from now.  They promised to ship these by end of this quarter worst-case as their own words will easily prove.

When they don't people will be entitled to 100% refund.  Those that went through a CC or paypaal will get it back no question.  those that go to court will also have a stronger position.

As if their illegal "you're a business" claim isn't enough they'll be outside their own window.

and where is the money?  if it was all spent on production where exactly are the parts.

this stinks like a dead animal out in the summer heat.  he's trying to pull some shit here.

If units start shipping at the end of the month, I'll eat my own foot.

this altcoins-game is a soap-opera and all of you are 5 year old clowns.

Which someone will inevitably profit from.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Exploit FUD: Developers Confirm NO DANGER on: September 22, 2014, 09:40:59 PM
"They will just rollback the chain"

Statements like that sure show how much the Monerotards "get it."

Roll back the chain once and whatever reputation your coin has it just goes down the drain.

this is bullshit, sometimes it's inevitable to roll back

FYI Bitcoin had to go for a rollback in the early days to fix a critical bug.

If Monero should ever be significantly damaged (very unlikely), bugs will be fixed and chain rolled back. Certainly nothing to worry much about.

Except for those who lost money due to the roll back, you mean? Sure.

That's life.

That's also why XMR's price is dropping. Rollbacks don't fill people with confidence. The coin would survive, but crypto lives and dies by the confidence of its investors.

Monero is f'cked

The price dropped fast. I expect a small rally from the day traders, but then another fall, unless this whole exploit fuss fizzles out.

Why does the Chinese government let people have the internet at all?  Roll Eyes

PMP got listed on Cryptonator https://www.cryptonator.com/rates/PMP-BTC

That's great. We'll have it added to the OP, also.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notice:: PROJECT X, Come Join the Movement on: September 21, 2014, 06:16:50 PM
Is the percentage share divided evenly between each participating coin, or does is each coin's cap also factored in? I'm interested to know how you calculate the relative worth of holding a particular crypto that participates.

Also, aren't there risks in providing our private keys?

Yep. This destroys the entire concept of decentralisation. Could also lead to a potential fork, couldn't it? I know they were trying to make a "worst-case scenario" point, but right now this section is like watching headless chickens.

Would anyone be willing to pledge a bounty towards finding a dev to fix EBT? I'm down for 100k. The dev has abandoned the coin. Anyone who wants a community take over can pledge towards the bounty of getting a dev to fix this. Beyond that, we'll need someone to take over management of EBT.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DON'T sell XMR Monero! There is NO exploit on: September 21, 2014, 03:56:11 PM
Are you guys sure price will pump after a year or two?

This is an absolute no-brainer. Have you seen another coin with the best name, a top notch community, solid developers and the best technology? I haven't. All of this FUD lately will make it stronger than ever, whereas Bitcoin is continuing to fall hard. XMR isn't. It's not the average pump and dump crap, this is here for the long-term. For privacy. For REAL cryptocurrency adoption.

I've seen enough coins rise and fall to know I've heard the same pitch time and time again. You or nobody can control the markets. The coin is in a downswing, whether you believe in the exploit or not. Clearly enough people do. Creating yet another thread about the exploit just informs more people about the exploit. Damage control, at this point, is pointless. If XMR has all the things you says it has, then there's nothing to worry about, is there? Let it happen. fill your boots, and wait for the inevitable rise.

Unless, however, it requires people like you to keep the coin afloat. If that's the case, then Monero is fucked.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge hashrate exploding on: September 21, 2014, 03:53:05 PM
Dogecoin hashrate should be higher then litecoin right? Since you can pretty much mine anycoin and merge mine dogecoin..

That's only if everyone was merge-mining.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does one run a wallet on a server? on: September 21, 2014, 12:47:19 PM
While security is very important, it doesn't quite answer my question.

Right now, I'm running my wallet on a windows machine. How do I run a wallet on a webhost if it's windows only?
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONERO XMR DROPPING LIKE A STONE GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! on: September 21, 2014, 10:34:44 AM
Note:  The Monero Shills are no longer spamming about their coin.

Was this an inside job to make a few whales (hiding behind sock accounts) rich?

I think the shills are panicking. Down down down we go, where will it stop? Dumpers know.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMP] PreminePlus Launch ~ Logo Contest ~ Oct giveaway SIGNUP NOW! on: September 21, 2014, 10:25:39 AM
I remember during PMC where we talked about looking for a pool that would allow you to indirectly mine PMC by mining other currencies, selling them, then buying up PMC. Are there still any POS mining pools around? They used to be quite popular.

Multipool is not needed, you can do it yourself.Mine another coin, sell, and buy PMP.Simple.The problem is,that this coin has no trust among the comunity.Everyone is staking his free coins and waits for a miracle.Go to buy, till the price get higher, there is no problem to get this coin to 1BTC,but you loosers have to invest into it.I have started to buy PMP,and i will invest everything i can mine into it.But one person is too little. What do you think? If you just wait till the price grows,it can happen, that everybody does it=coin is dead.If you buy now for 0.001 BTC tomorrow the price can be 0.1 BTC.The more you buy,the bigger the coin, then will BIttrex or any other exchange add it without any need to vote.

So my friends,if you wanna wait do it,waiting kills coins. In the end,it can happen, you will have 500 PMP without any value.

Well, yes, the coin needs buy support, and what generates buy support is excitement that the value will increase. The coin is gaining new features regularly, and I think it's a great investment for the future of the coin.

Remember SYNC?Great coin, new features, price went up to 2 BTC.Now its around 0.7 BTC,and falling. Why?People just stake, waiting for more coins. If you know, how money work, you know, that the value depends on circulation. Not moving, dead coin without any value.I can also have have my wallet full of German Marks, but they have no value.People selling low,are the guys, who dont believe in another coins, they got some coins for free. Now they are selling, and investing into their favourite coins.Good for us,we can buy cheap. We get more coins, and the price will grow.Your stupid excitement will come,as the price gets higher.Waiting for a miracle doesnt work.Even the best dev cannot force you to buy the fucking coin,if you dont want to.
And for the devs:Try to make a store,to sell stuff in PMP,maybe mining rigs.....Remember,coins in wallet are just another dead currency.

I'm well aware POS can cause downward selling pressure, but I'm also aware that a coin with new features drives upward selling pressure, as people invest in a coin hoping for it to rise.

I totally agree with you, by the way. Coins just sitting in a wallet is no good for a coin. We do need services. We do need reasons to move the coin around. To buy it more than sell it.

I await the first Mangocoin miner. A tumble dryer filled with Android devices running the Mango coin app.
180  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 20, 2014, 08:13:36 PM
Ok, maybe I'm overlooking something here.

If there is an exploit, surely the developers of Monero would spot it better than anyone else? It must be a pretty damn obscure exploit if they haven't found it. Or maybe it doesn't exist. Here, I've found this exploit in your code, pay me 100 BTC and I'll tell you what it is. Wink wink.

If I was the Monero devs, I'd be tirelessly looking for the exploit and fixing it myself. If such exploit even exists. If it doesn't, then they'll have a job finding it, that's for sure. If it does exist, then it sounds like they'll know exactly where to look for it at this point.
