161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safest way of long term holding on: July 29, 2021, 10:59:47 AM
There's no perfect way of long term holding and I've come across this conclusion after years of crazy thoughts around cold storage airgapped holding solutions. In the end, it's about everyone's use case:
. do you want your heirs to be able to access those funds? then most paranoid solutions won't work;
. do you want that your coins will die with you? then go for it
. do you want to wake up one day, having forgotten how to retrieve your keys and being unable to access your wealth? that would be a nightmare!
Sharing is caring with your loved ones, that's what I did.

Let's have a look at the most interesting free agents of 2021-22 season because while some of the most important NBA players are busy with the Olympics, the transfer market never stops.
As roster-shuffling time approaches, these free agents could be among the ones to watch.
https://www.nba.com/news/12-most-intriguing-free-agents-ahead-of-2021-22-season
To clarify, a free agent is a player who is not under contract with any team and therefore can sign with anyone or it can refer to players who are under contract at a given time of the season but are allowed to solicit offers from other teams.

Borussia Dortmund are interested in Merih Demiral, who is leaving Juventus, and their director Sebastian Kehl spoke about it in an interview with Bild. BD are looking at the market for defenders but want to wait to see how the situation related to their own players evolves: Zagadou and Koulibaly should return in autumn, Emre Can is already back and it remains to be understood what happens to Hummels. What is certain is that given the crisis due to the Covid-19 they have had big losses and must be careful with the budget.
This greatly reduces the potential of Borussia in the coming season.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public companies That own Bitcoin on: July 28, 2021, 10:14:42 AM
These companies and entities want your hard earned coins. If you sell these days you'll regret it in a few year times. Remember the words of Hal Finney here on the forum when he said that Bitcoin was the best bet of a lifetime. It could have been mined for pennies in 2009-2011 and look where it's now.
If you own the keys, don't sell. If you can wait, wait.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 28, 2021, 10:08:18 AM
Yesterday a lot of rumors about the negotiation happening between Sevilla and Chelsea for Jules Koundé. Contacts that have been going on for a long time and now it looks the deal's in an advanced stage. In fact, the player has given the ok to the transfer mainly for the possibility of playing in Champions League, and Kurt Zouma would be included in the exchange that would also consider a financial compensation in favor of Sevilla.
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 27, 2021, 10:42:22 AM
So Real Madrid's hand got forced when it came to lose Raphael Varane. Nothing that surprises because the real reason behind the £42m deal with Man Utd is to bring Kylian Mbappe to Madrid. As many of you correctly said I think it's a matter of days for Mpabbe to find his way to Madrid. He could get a huge raise going to Spain and I believe that will help the negotiation phase.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon is looking to accept Bitcoin payments by the end of the year on: July 27, 2021, 10:12:25 AM

Apparently, the news that Amazon will accept Bitcoin payments "by the end of the year" turned out to be fake. I just looked at the Cityam where this rumor was posted. The website does not look trustworthy. It even uses a free SSL certificate that will expire in two weeks.

In any case, as they say, there is no smoke without a fire. Perhaps Amazon is preparing to enter the cryptocurrency market in 2022, but representatives do not want to publish reports of their intentions too early.
There's been too much fuss about the news (rumor). Today the market already reacted to that being either fake or not confirmed. I mean we didn't slide to the previous lows but that's not a great sign. I don't like when the market is so focused on these crappy rumors rather on real developments.

Juventus almost deal for Kajo Jorge (probably as 4th striker)

Source; https://twitter.com/romeoagresti/status/1419774463281926145

Top Tier releability.
All this much excitement for a 4th striker who might play maybe with lower teams and maybe if the first three get injured?  Grin
If I was ih his shoes I'd preferred Benfica to become the first striker of the team. I understand Juve is a much better team but sometimes players should make that extra step and realize what's best for them. If he doesn't play there's no good being a Juve 4th striker.
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You got a pifzer ? Then you can be eligible for lottery in Poland. on: July 26, 2021, 10:42:24 AM
In the meanwhile, updated data from Israel suggests possible waning in effectiveness of Pfizer mRNA drug.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/23/science/covid-vaccine-israel-pfizer.html
This means that a third dose is certainly gonna be inevitable and, moreover, that the virus will get more and more resistant to the drug. I agree with those scientists who say that it's a truly bad mistake to start any vaccination during an ongoing epidemic.
Quote
Analyzing the government’s national health statistics, researchers estimated that the Pfizer shot was just 39 percent effective against preventing infection in the country in late June and early July, compared with 95 percent from January to early April.

One of my favorite players Shaqiri (12m valuation), now an offensive player at Liverpool, has said that he would be tantalized by the possibility of returning to Serie A, strongly targeting Maurizio Sarri's Lazio. The player's contract expires in 2022, but in football we know that these contracts are worth very little compared to the real needs of teams and players. I'll follow his moves closely
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon is looking to accept Bitcoin payments by the end of the year on: July 26, 2021, 10:26:57 AM
This reminds me what happened with paypal because before they added bitcoin to their wallet functionalities 6 months prior we had a few rumors around it. I'm not saying it's the same with amazon but seeing how the market reacted that must be some small truth behind the news.
172  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buying BTC from KYC exchange on: July 26, 2021, 10:24:44 AM
One last point from my side: also avoid to share your personal data with other companies unless really necessary! I'm thinking specifically at the Ledger hack: many people opsec got smashed because they bought a ledger at some point in time. For those who saw only their email leaked, that's not a big thing. But for those who had their personal info shared, I can only say good luck.
Always be wary when asked to give your data to some entity, whichever it maybe. In the era of internet, your data is never safe.
173  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buying BTC from KYC exchange on: July 25, 2021, 08:18:54 AM
To all those who want to know more about the KYC creep there's this very informative website which has all the basics. Before getting into the no-KYC world is always best to first untangle all the kyc coins you have from the ones you wish to acquire KYC-free. That's very important in order to avoid jeopardizing your no-kyc set-up

is the saga of Ronaldo over and he will stay at Juventus?

The vice president has spoken.

source: https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1418998166704345089

Even Cristiano Ronaldo himself said a few months ago that he will stay in Juventus to try and win the champions league. So this news from Pavel Nedved isnt shocking to me at all. Was expected honestly. I just hope Juventus buy a few more good players to attack the champions league this season.
I don't buy it, it's one of those announcements that are usually made to raise the value of the player and to calm down the environment. Allegri doesn't like Cristiano and that's no secret, I suspect we'll see more news on him changing jersey. Maybe just not yet.
175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your betting budget on: July 25, 2021, 08:01:36 AM
I don't bet more than $10 weekly since a long time. I used to bet over $250 per week but that was 5 years ago, I can't afford to lose that much anymore. I improved my betting too, as I'm more conscious about my gambling habits and I'm very careful not to transform them into an addiction.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: July 25, 2021, 07:57:45 AM
Genoa finally decided not to go to Orleans to face PSG in the prestigious test that should have empowered their summer.
Too high the risk of Covid infection, given the numerous cases that are recorded daily in France and that recently have also affected several elements of the group of PSG.
177  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-22] JPMorgan Opens Crypto Trading To All Clients on: July 24, 2021, 08:31:28 AM
What were we expecting? Rich kids look for profits and will make money from the disproportionate fees of their new crypto-based financial products. Nothing new, it's clear that they would have done this. I'd just like to add that at the adoption level, this is certainly not good news. These are not the announcements that will scale bitcoin as a network. In short, such news leave me unimpressed and unexcited.

Comically bad shilling for the Rube Goldberg machine, Larry Summers Lightning Network

I suggest everyone in this thread to read this post right this second concerning Lightning Network.  This is actually supposed to be a PRO-LN post, yet it comes off as just a comically dysfunctional Rubix cube that looks like something Comedy Central would post as a joke:

https://blog.muun.com/the-inbound-capacity-problem-in-the-lightning-network/

The idea that garbage could be in ANY WAY useful or usable at all for end users is outrageous.  And the post even inadvertently shows you why LN is designed to completely centralize where all your transactions will be routed through a single permissioned bank.  I LAUGH IN THE FACE of anyone that claims this is "the future".  The future of dystopia maybe.

Just a blast from the past... you miss him, don't you.  Bah.  He is one of the few humans I sincerely would feel ZERO sadness for if I heard he was run over by a train.

But I gotta quote this since I came to update some of my LN thoughts.

I keep three lightning wallets on my phone.  Wallet of Satoshi.  Bulletproof custodial. Teeny fees.  Totally worth having if you have trouble with the other two or if you want to have a 100% drop dead easy time with it.  Zeus. By far the best front end for your own node.

But the reason I came was a sleeper I just had not spent much time with.

Muun.

This is one of the most impressive pieces of bitcoin software I have ever used.  I heard Dorsey praise it during the silly interview, and my estimation of him went up a little.

First of all the damn thing is just a smooth implementation.  It works great.  I have done a huge range of payments with it, and I have sent it over a 100$ inbound.  The fees are not inflated.  I am curious how they solve the inbound liquidity problem.  But hre are the bullet points:

Good BECH32 BTC wallet.
The best main chain fee estimation I have seen.
Seamless, perfect LN integration.
Normal LN fees. No premium.
Somehow achieves inbound liquidity.
Neutrino non custodial node.
Backups!

That last one is the real area the things shines.  Muun is a 2of2 multisig wallet.  You hold BOTH keys, and control them both.  But only ONE of them is ever on your phone.  Muun provides the service of cosigning your spends. But they only have one key.  This means if someone gets your phone?  They can't get your bitcoin.  You can make 3 different kinds of backups.

You can use an email address and a password to collaborate with Muun to restore your wallet.  Or an email address and your seed to do it on your own, OR if you lose everything you can decrypt a file that has both keys in it using your password.

They are ahead of all other projects when it comes to creating something easy enough for a noob to run as well as well thought out enough to be useful to one of us jabrones.

It's my new fav.

Screw Roach.  Such wrong.  Wow.
What have you brought up man!
179  Other / Archival / Re: El Salvadorans are not happy about accepting bitcoin as a means of payment on: July 24, 2021, 08:25:02 AM
As I said, and it looks no one is thinking about it, bitcoin adoption should happen on a VOLUNTARY basis. I don't want to be forced to use or accept bitcoin I want to do that because I decide to do so.
The history of bitcoin shows that slowly and steadily adoption's inevitable. No law, no regulation can make that happen. If you and I accept bitcoin that's it, deal done.
They aren't forcing them though, the law stating that bitcoin becoming a legal tender isn't shoved in the face of the people, they even got to have some free bitcoin to try and use, I don't agree that they are forcing them, isn't that the support that we are looking for bitcoin.
Well that's just like your opinion man, like mine is too.
I want to stress again that Bitcoin needs no LAW, no REGULATION, nothing to be accepted. It's a decentralized network, a decentralized community, it started on a voluntary basis and started to be accepted for what it was rather than for what it brings.
Using bitcoin means trusting something, rather than someone. But when it comes to currency, trust is key.
And with bitcoin you shall trust nobody, not even your rotten country.

Bringing back the thread for discussing an interesting friendly game between Paris Saint Germain and the Italians of Genoa. The Rossoblù left the Neustift retreat to fly to Orleans, where they are awaited by the PSG battleship. Genoa's lucky because no one of the new dream team is gonna play.
Mbappé has just returned from vacation, while Neymar, Marquinhos, Di Maria, Paredes, Verratti and Donnarumma are still enjoying a well-deserved rest after playing the Copa America and European Championship. The only one we could see on the pitch is actually Sergio Ramos.
If I have to bet I would say 2-1 or 3-1 for PSG.
