1) I was a hard working citizen but due to no fault of my own I lost my job and am currently looking for work but unable to find any.

Yeah, man works 40 years laying bricks and not once thinks about making a back-up plan.

Then loses job and cries "bricklaying is all I've ever known, how will I pay my rent now?".

Hey stupido, you had 40 years to make a back-up plan.
162  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Mybitcoin is a scam! on: July 12, 2011, 03:21:45 AM
When he shows some proof of ANY sort, I'll rethink my position, because I'd have to wouldn't I?

Did you study any kind of maths or physics in high school?

While it may be easy to prove something DID occur (a response back from mybitcoin support), it can be impossible to prove that same thing DIDN'T occur (i.e. no response back from mybitcoin support).

165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would someone continue to buy bitcoins over market value? on: July 12, 2011, 12:19:01 AM
Here it is:

Quote
Dear ........,

We have concluded our investigation into your case:

Case ID:  PP-001-341-457-483
Transaction Date:  14 Jun 2011
Transaction Amount:  -$150.00 USD
Seller's Email:  dsloco12@yahoo.com
Seller's Name:  richard francis

Unfortunately, we were unable to resolve this claim in your favour because
the item purchased was virtual or intangible. As a result, we have not
taken any action against the seller at this time but we have noted your
dissatisfaction in the seller's record for future reference.

If you still have concerns about this transaction, we encourage you to
continue to work directly with the seller for an amicable resolution.

Sincerely,
Shannon
Protection Services Department

Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is not monitored and you
will not receive a response. For assistance, log in to your PayPal account
and click the Help link in the top right corner of any PayPal page.

So a) steer clear of richard francis
and b) note in bold how awesome awful paypal support is

They never once asked me to send supporting documents, of which I could have sent a lot of evidence it was a scam.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would someone continue to buy bitcoins over market value? on: July 12, 2011, 12:13:53 AM
If he's using paypal, he WILL get his money back if he initiate a dispute. A lot of paypal transactions are later reversed by the buyer, it's like a 100% no risk way of getting free money.

This isn't true. I used to sell software over PayPal, and the buyer doesn't get the money back by default. The PayPal side reviews the case first.

I initiated a dispute after being scammed here and PayPal said they couldn't return my money because the goods were 'virtual or intangible'.

So even as a buyer, it's a huge risk buying with PayPal.
(unless the bitcoins come to you first of course)

Okay, found it.

It seems FF doesn't send the value of an image input, whereas Chrome does:

Code:
<input type="image" name="open" value="1"

$_POST['open'] is 1 in Chrome and NULL in Firefox.

Fixed it now by using another hidden var.

Are you the owner of bitcoinbalance.com?? I need to ask you something.

Yep, how can I help?
I am working on a site that you pick a number from 1-3 and if you win you win back double your bet. I wanted to know if I could use your site for people to deposit and withdraw

Thanks for the interest... I haven't completed the code yet to allow 3rd-party sites as that will be a bit more complex, security-wise.

The reason I'm able to connect my sites easily at present is because they all directly hook in to the same database and are hosted on the same server.

What other options are you considering for registration/payments? (using mybitcoin or running bitcoind yourself?)

169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unit Colour Chart on: July 11, 2011, 03:26:28 PM
100 cents = 97 cents / 0.97 dollars

I clarified my post. I didn't mean 'divided by'.
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unit Colour Chart on: July 11, 2011, 03:05:00 PM
One tiny problem I foresee though is that some people seriously don't know the difference between:

$0.97
0.97 cents
97 cents

I've often seen people write 0.97 cents when they actually mean 97 cents (0.97 dollars).

0.000000000000000000000001 yoto (since 1991)

According the source you pointed to, it seems you missed the 'c' in yocto.
172  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Mildly unimpressed with both MtGox and TradeHill on: July 11, 2011, 02:04:36 PM
Sorry if it's already been asked... I saw your lovely new BUY form, but how does one easily just buy "$50 worth of bitcoins at a rate of $13.50". Do you still need to work it out manually on a calculator first and then type in 3.7037037?
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unit Colour Chart on: July 11, 2011, 01:07:59 PM

Yes: bitcoins will be worth that much, and people will still use "LOL" in the future.  When we all have hovercrafts.

Laughter will be prohibited in the future. So, no.

'LOL' hasn't had anything to do with actual laughing for a very long time.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unit Colour Chart on: July 11, 2011, 10:49:33 AM
e.g  for 0.00159265   - that'd just be displayed in blue, perhaps with the blue mBTC logo alongside.

I would have thought if you're writing 0.00159265 BTC that you'd display it in gold, and only display it in blue if you're writing it as 1.59265 mBTC.
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Heard about Bitcoin on Aljazeera on: July 11, 2011, 05:19:11 AM
you take what the CIA say as the truth so easily?

Yeah wrong thread, PinkiePie.

You want "Make me laugh for a bitcent".
176  Economy / Economics / Re: Speculators, speak up. on: July 11, 2011, 03:24:27 AM
Speculating is a secondary consideration for me, but I'll play along...

Buying anywhere from $13-18 at the moment... don't care about the price too much, I just buy whenever I get spare money.

I plan to sell at $100 - but probably only half of my total coins or less.

Will sell them for that price some time in the next 12 months.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My 'traveling' *Novelty* Bitcoin... on: July 11, 2011, 02:51:15 AM
haha the pirate pic is great.

I suddenly had a funny thought... Imagine a movie or cartoon where people are going on some huge adventure to find lost sunken treasure... they finally find this elaborate-looking treasure chest at the bottom of the ocean and open it up to find it's basically empty, except for a tiny flash drive marked BTC.
178  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Should we buy bitcoin.com ? on: July 11, 2011, 12:42:10 AM
Additionally,

Bitcoin.com site now displays just "It works!" (the default web server page)

Look at the IP it gives when I ping it:

ping bitcoin.com

Pinging bitcoin.com [127.0.0.1] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

...I've checked my hosts file and it's not in there... how does this happen?
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - AUD market is now live. on: July 11, 2011, 12:39:51 AM
I had to sit there for ages making calculations and trying to submit the form, and gave up on calculations, and just started reducing my order amount incrementally until i got a total under my available balance. and even then i ended up with left over AUD in my account i can't now spend as there is a $1 min order.

This is the same trading USD on Tradehill... annoying.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin U.S. Trademark Application DROPPED – He’s Trying It Abroad on: July 10, 2011, 03:29:50 PM
Next, i'm going after the douchebag that trademarked Bitcoin for Financial/Banking Services in Portugal.
The trademark was already granted.

Can you give us more info/links on the Portuguese application?
