382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which escrow service should I use now when the Clearcoin is closed? on: June 30, 2011, 06:04:44 AM
Can any other big names vouch for BTCrow?

What's the largest transaction you've sent through them?

Thanks.

I'm from Australia, we were founded by English convicts and sheep farmers, what do you expect?

I'm from Australia too, and I expect most people here to have poor grammar, so kudos to you Smiley

I have recently discovered this site: http://survivingtheworld.net/
Makes me laugh. Here are a couple good ones:
http://survivingtheworld.net/Lesson990.html
http://survivingtheworld.net/Recitation98.html

That's pretty cool, thanks. I was reading a lot of them...

386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about forum PM system on: June 30, 2011, 02:25:52 AM
I can't find any PMs that I sent...My outbox is empty. Am I just not looking in the right place or is there no way for me to see PMs that I sent?

Go to Profile -> Personal Message Options.

There's a checkbox there related to your issue:

"Save a copy of each Personal Message in my outbox by default."

Thank You!

The ones I've sent up to this date are gone though. right?

They may be magically saved in the forum database somewhere... I can only guess though as I don't have access to that info.
387  Other / Off-topic / Re: At What Price Did You Get Your First Bitcoins? on: June 30, 2011, 02:24:16 AM
My first coins? 80c... and that was actually after they had reached the $1 mark.

But I've also bought some for as much as $27 each.

389  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Double - Betting game with faster payouts. on: June 30, 2011, 01:07:48 AM
Nothing happens.  Nothing at all, no error code, no next page of any kind.  I fill out the things to register, I click register, and all the stuff I filled in just vanishes and I'm just on the same page, no change at all.  Nothing Happens.  I wish I could figure it out from here.

Sorry, it appears a case of the error message not being displayed.

It's fixed now, so it should at least tell you what's wrong with your input.

Thanks.
390  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sellers' Poll on: June 30, 2011, 12:33:38 AM
Not that I'm selling, but I suspect you'll need an option something like this:

"because I urgently need the fiat cash so I'll take what I can get for it, even though $17 is crappy price".

Both of these fall under "stable price".

How is "I'm selling because I urgently need the cash" any way similar to "I'm selling because the price is stable"?
391  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoinhop hacked on: June 30, 2011, 12:31:57 AM
I just transferred ownership over to Alex Beckenham.

Stay tuned for the relaunch.  Smiley

Thanks, I've paid for half of what we agreed, and yesterday has sent me a password-protected RAR file of the site.

The domain name can't be transferred until 16 July, because of a 60-day rule imposed by the registrars.

So, we may need to wait until then to complete the deal.

I think it is about time for Bitcoin to get a Wiki maybe to help have information with citations and links.

Like this? https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

No, like this.

And for my second post I stoop to the low levels of begging...

If anyone wants to help me start my bitcoin wallet, my address is 13WZAEsrYMpMprFJhU8r2HafdBQHfGQc5e

Nothing has arrived yet, I don't mind as it was free but I was wondering if I'm doing this right?

I just have the bitcoin client on my pc and it generated me an address, which is above.  If I don't pay a transaction fee should it have arrived by now or does it take longer?

Thanks everyone!  Smiley

Your client should normally be showing 8 connections on the status bar, and you need to download all the blocks. The block count is currently up to 133845 so if you client is showing less than that (in the status bar), then you'll need to wait for it to get up-to-date before you see your correct balance.
395  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How to sell Bitcoins on PayPal and not get scammed. on: June 29, 2011, 10:15:54 AM
Mertin has pretty much disappeared anyway... he hasn't responded to me or another buyer since last Friday.

He should at least come back and rename the thread "How to scam people when selling Bitcoins on Paypal".

They took away my leveraged gold trading, but they can't take away my Bitcoins!

payb.tc/z

I hope you've encrypted them... sent you 0.01.

Canadians will have the same issue too, pretty soon... all those paper ones are going in the furnace.

A very similar Mt Gox bug is also stopping people from ordering on FORBITCOIN.COM.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Survive? Is It Legal? - Forbes on: June 29, 2011, 05:23:49 AM
It seems like you're expecting the Subway owner to wait (do NO bitcoin transactions) until everyone else is using bitcoin and then suddenly run their whole operation with it (do ONLY bitcoin transactions).

I'm saying it'll happen far more gradually. Accept bitcoin now and then. Pay wages in bitcoin now and then to the tech-savvy teens that work for you. Strike up a conversation with your landlord one day and maybe he'll get excited by the idea.

Forgetting about stockholders for a second, let's just say the owner is a person, like you and me. It's obvious that people ARE willing to take risks with bitcoin in the interim. In their own interests and in the interests of the whole bitcoin movement.
