1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Set up payment gateway? on: May 09, 2011, 07:10:04 PM
I'm also trying to figure this out. I understand how to do port-forwarding etc at home, but don't know how that works on a server.

When I first set up I was getting 50+ connections, then lately only 8, right now 0.

Wow looks like my systematic smite campaign may have worked...
1003  Other / Meta / Re: [applaud]/[smite] system? on: May 09, 2011, 11:42:33 AM
Thanks for the -1, it's a real honor?  Roll Eyes
As noted above it's just a silly Internet rating. But since we do real transactions with each other I think a bad system does more damage than no system at all. This rating is broken. I wish there was a way to "pay to rate". Let's say it costs .10 BTC to rate someone. Maybe people would not be so cavalier with their new powers.

Where would the money go? To the person you're voting for?

1004  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Congratulations to the owner of "19JWKd..."! Winner of 128 BTC on BitLotto on: May 09, 2011, 08:23:11 AM
For those who play, I'm curious. Would you be more inclined to play if the September draw changed to 0.5 BTC per play? Or would you prefer it stay at 1 BTC?  Huh

Would it be possible to just allow any payment amounts, and calculate it so that every 0.01 = 1 chance?

Then people could pay say 1.23 btc for 123 chances out of the final total.

I don't know if that would fit in with the way you've set things up.

If all of the above is no good, I'd say keep it at 1 btc for now.

as long as the computer and its operating system is reliable and trustworthy and that it can prove to other machines that it is trustworthy.

I'm sorry I stopped reading after this.
1006  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What happened to the adult site listings? on: May 09, 2011, 06:18:39 AM
What happened to the adult site listings on the marketplace page? Why were they deleted?

Because, it gives a bad image for the bitcoin...

+1 internets for whoever deleted them.

I agree deleting them gives a bad image for the bitcoin...

I oppose laws (well, all laws, but specifically) that restrict freedom.

Can you name a law that doesn't restrict freedom?
1008  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace Regulation on: May 09, 2011, 03:11:12 AM
A waste of time since the bitcoin forum prohibited the selling and buying of black market goods in one own's country.
Not really, I mean stuff that might have some cultural conflics, like porn, warez, "Terrorist Cookbook", etc. Or is otherwise not school/collage/work safe.

a) Everything has cultural conflicts.

b) For some people, porn is work-safe.
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Game Tournament on: May 09, 2011, 02:49:55 AM
Um, that sounds mighty good. I can't provide nameservers as of yet, but I most likely will just be using heliohost until it gets too large to operate on that free host. My only qeustion is top or bottom banner? I think a top banner would be more effective for you for advertising while a bottom will fit in my site layout the best. If the banner background could be black that would be very good for the site layout.
Thanks for the offer, it is greatly apreciated.
Tom.

Hi Tom, the bottom should be fine, although I can't guarantee what colours it would be, as I'd want to point it to a dynamic script image to rotate different campaigns. (Will keep it SFW). Just shoot me over heliohost's name servers whenever you're ready.

Edit: I've updated the domain with ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org; You'll just need to set it up in your account I guess.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Game Tournament on: May 09, 2011, 02:35:37 AM
I will sadly not be able to get a domain name other than a .cc.cz unless someone would like to partener with me for this venture.

Hi PL,

You are welcome to borrow bitcointournament.com in exchange for me placing a 468x60 banner on your site.

Just let me know your 2 name servers.

Cheers.
1011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's add up the KNOWN lost bitcoins on: May 09, 2011, 01:50:04 AM
I've lost 250 BTC.

May I ask how you lost it?

I don't mean to doubt you, but just want to make sure they're definitely lost.
1012  Other / Meta / Re: [applaud]/[smite] system? on: May 09, 2011, 01:45:34 AM
I'd like to be able to nominate (without their knowledge) certain people to recommend posts to me. The recommenders would know only how many people rely on their recommendations as an incentive to keep recommending posts. I would not want to see any posts which had not been recommended. Recommended posts would have the names of the people who recommended them so I could add/delete recommenders on that basis. I can recommend posts myself and get statistics for who recommends in a similar fashion so that I can add them to my list.

Me too.

Please also refund the 0.05 I just sent to 1F5iYSz...

Because this time, the page auto-refreshed as it says it will, but it refreshed with a completely new address... so no idea what happened to my 0.05 deposit.

1014  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Higher/Lower Game on: May 09, 2011, 01:38:11 AM
Hi,

I sent 0.02 to the address given, and it said it would refresh every 30 seconds until found.

But I've just come back to my desk and found the page blank.

So I refreshed it, but now it has given me a different payment address, so it seems my original is lost?

I originally deposited to 1KM7TfYsd...

I'm going to now deposit 0.05 to this new address that's showing, and hope it gets confirmed faster.

Cheers.

So did you down vote me?

I don't remember which actually. You've been around a while and perhaps are 'trustworthy', yet I disagree with a lot of your posts philosophically (your discussions with bitcoin2cash come to mind, where I consistently agree with him, not you).

That probably means I up-voted you.
1016  Other / Meta / Re: [applaud]/[smite] system? on: May 09, 2011, 12:02:43 AM
I registered a new account and will not post with my normal account until this ridiculous rating system is abolished. It is sad to see that some people would go around and give everybody a -1 for no good reason.
What is even more sad is that they would have to be established forum members with more than 250 posts, so they should really know better. Angry

I decided after reading this thread to do just that, but I have a good reason: To help show how out of alignment with reality it is.

I smited all the most trustworthy people I could think of, and applauded all the jerks and newbies.

That's why I got the -1.  Cheesy

Nope, missed you the first time.

But that's why you now have -2 Cheesy
1017  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Higher/Lower Game on: May 08, 2011, 10:43:31 PM
I can't wait to play! It's going to take years though before my 0.02 has 1 confirmation.

And didn't you play after requesting? because after requesting you still can play and money are still on your account. And I don't see any users with balance of 0.08 . May be while I was changing database structure some data where lost...

Hi vitsum,

Sorry you are right, that 0.07 was mine, I'm not sure why I was thinking 0.08.

Thanks.
