Hi, I've been trying to debug something for 2 hours now, so frustrating. exception 'Exception' with message 'Unable to connect to http://myusername:mypassword@127.0.0.1:8332/' Any reason why it wouldn't be able to connect even though my username and password are correct? It throws this error when I try to do $bitcoin -> sendfrom(PROGRAM_NAME,$pay_out_address,0.01);
Also I've double-checked the logs and the 3 args I'm sending to this function are completely valid. Thanks

What's probably of more importance to everyone on this forum is the fact that the TSA is authorized to scan your laptop's hard drive upon entry to the country, and if I'm not mistaken, even go as far as to make a complete backup of the entire HDD. My memory is somewhat vague, but I wouldn't be surprised if this new authority came as part of one of the numerous "Think of the children!" acts that have been so prevalent lately.
I'd argue that this alone is just as personally invasive as taking fingerprints, drops of blood, firstborn child, etc.
But that one is trivial to get around with good encryption practices. Having them copy my laptop hard drive wouldn't be personally invasive at all to me.

The Chase bank account is not offshore. No entity using ACH transfers is offshore. That's one reason why the poker sites and their banks were busted, not just proxying credit card charges as golf balls and flower bouquets, but also for processing eChecks (which are ACH debits).
You're still not getting it. The Chase bank is offshore, otherwise I'd be able to jump in my car right now and drive to it, which I can't because I'd sink.

I remember as a kid dreaming of going to the USA - the land of free. How things change..
Yeah me too. I wonder if I've completely missed my opportunity. I probably should go soon, before things get even worse... They'll want a drop of blood soon.

With the guy receiving a lesson on not being too selfish we're one (small) step closer to having a world with more selfless people.
Yuck. I can just picture all the rainbows and ponies. The world will never be more perfect than it is right now.

I would advocate for a country that does not harvest fingerprints and eye-scans from law-abiding foreign travellers for databases, upon border entry.
Do they scan everyone or just pick some at random?

grondilu, I'd be interested to hear if you made profitable use of the coins in the time that you held them, or if this was just an experiment that cost you 3.9 BTC.

It is operated from Japan. ACH deposits go to a Chase bank account, and the web server is in kentucky (IIRC).
My point is, all those places are offshore. Just ask vladimir or dishwara.

I agree more exchanges would be good, but Mt Gox is offshore.
So is the whitehouse and the pentagon.

I'm guessing its set up this way but not sure so person 1 gets paid after 2, 3, and 4 have joined person 2 gets paid after 3, 4, and 5 have joined
I've seen this question elsewhere on the net and it doesn't make mathematical sense. That would mean EVERY time someone joined after ID 3, the site would be taking in 1 btc and paying out 2.2 btc. EVERY. TIME. So basically the site would be giving away 1.2 btc all day long for everyone that joined. It's not a charity, sorry. The site takes in 3 btc for every 3 people joined, and pays out 2.6 btc for every 3 people joined. On average this means that every time someone signs up, the site takes in 1 btc and pays out 0.86666666.

This poll is much harder. I'm bookmarking $20 for January next year.
Much closer race between the yes and no. And I guess the people saying NO are probably finding the number of YES votes surprising.

Well, can't say I disagree with what you guys say.. Would anyone object if I raise the minimum spend to 0.10 btc and decrease the timer to 1 hour (or maybe 2-3 hours)? That would: 1. Help push out the invested btc faster. 2. Increase the jackpot. 3. Make it fun again. I think this would make it fair for those already in, since with a long timer and small spends allowed they're not getting bursted very quickly anyways. Also, I added the requested feature to view bursted bubbles. Yeah upping the min would be fine with me at this point. And I'd say drop the timer to more like 4 or 5 hours.... nothing too dramatic. 1 hour is too quick. Oh, and thanks for showing the burst bubbles.

Given my record for selling low and buying high, I don't think making this sort of prediction is my strong point.
All I can say is, at the end of the year a bitcoin will be either more than $10 or less than $0.01.
Well, I'm not saying that at the end of the year it'll be worth $20, but I think at some point during the year it'll be worth $20.
