Paypal isnt accepted here
(god it felt good typing that)
Oh really? I never knew that... how else can I get money from paypal onto my Mt.Gox then =/??? Step 1 in converting PayPal to Bitcoins: Withdraw your PayPal to your bank account and never mention the word 'paypal' again... from that point onwards you are just buying bitcoins for 'cash'.

anyone got any theories as to why btc seems to be going down in value at the moment?
It seems like an early-adopter sold a relatively large amount (20,000) btc over the weekend.

Tell us all what browser you're using, and what version. It might help.

Someone should first define 'Monday'.
I say next Monday's high (UTC) will be $25.99.

I like not having to apply for an account.
You don't need to send anyone a 23-page form outlining your income/expenses/id/hobbies.

That was a quick few hours

Some people already use 'mike' to mean 1 µBTC.

I'm wondering a bit about the case-sensitivity... I pasted in your donation address and got 1kk5k (all lowercase).
How does one easily expand those first bits to a full address? I thought blockexplorer searches for example were case-sensitive.
Nevermind. I see that you can just search for it on your site.

It's not unbreakable. It just hasn't been broken yet.

The bitcoin network is supposedly a 'super computer' yes, but isn't it already busy computing things?
It's not the word's fastest idle super computer.

You don't strictly have to choose one or the other... eg. Keep 99% under your control, and 1% on some online service.
Even though my main wallet is at home, I still have some small change in a number of different places online. (Although I absolutely won't use mybitcoin.com as their customer service is non-existant).

to get back on topic with bitcoin.com --- someone will grab that domain name and do whatever they want with it ---

A v. wise man once said:
".... the LOVE of money is the root of all evil ... "
Then another wise man countered with: ".... the LACK of money is the root of all evil ... "

Bitcoin has no chargebacks/refunds, that's how it's made...
Yes I know that thanks. But the admin of MyBitcoin.com can easily send them back to me. It's just that so far they're unresponsive.

I just posted this (2nd) message in the MyBitcoin support area, since I still haven't received a reply yet from my first message: Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a message here asking about a double payment that I made accidentally.
The merchant that I made the payment to said that it doesn't go to their account and that I need to ask you for it.
The payments were for 10 BTC each and they went to: 1BaCUcLv9MUcDjNUEfAr6qbVXQmEoQ7c1z
Please return one of them as it was a duplicate payment.
Thanks Anyone else ever had luck contacting MyBitcoin.com?

I get the opposite feeling, that selling is not so easy, making hoarding somewhat unavoidable in a way.
I don't mean 100 or even 1000 coins, I mean if you could buy a big house or a plane with your 370,000 BTC, I can't imagine that being a simple thing to move.
darkpool Obviously the stats there are hidden so it's hard to guess how long that would take... are there darkpool traders standing by waiting to buy up $8m worth of coins?

There are already a bunch of other threads about this. To me the best solution by far is to just change what we mean when we say bitcoin. so 1 BTC now = 1,000,000.00 BTC or whatever in the new client.
UBC is the second best option but it seems bad to lose the bitcoin name.
A good side effect is now people won't ask "But there are only 21 million bitcoins. how can that work?"
Instead they'll say "but you told me there can never be more than 21 million! Now there are 21 trillion! It's all LIES LIES LIES!!"
