161  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech Layoffs on: February 01, 2024, 12:41:45 PM
This has been a trend and it is going to continue but at the some point, I think that the time for these companies to have more demand again and going to have more manpower again will come but at least not for now. As said specifically for PayPal, the proliferation of many startups changing the ways or having better solutions for payments have come. I think that there have been hundreds if not thousands of them yearly that have been established and most of them have been talking about providing digital solutions for quicker and cheaper payments. That's what I've been seeing with many of the startups that I don't know whether they truly solve problems or they simply are providing a better alternative options against PayPal.
162  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Marvin Favis na scam? on: February 01, 2024, 09:23:59 AM

I know of electron but apart from the electron is there any other wallet which is safe?.
Be careful, that's electrum and not electron. Because if the spelling is wrong, you're likely to download the wrong wallet and lose all of your holdings in a glance.

Five figures a month you say? In what currency if I may ask?
Based on his posting history, he's from Nigeria so likely it is the Nigerian Naira.

@OP, I'd like to congratulate you with your first ever bought Bitcoin and this isn't the end of it and you're just starting out. Do always buy whenever you're comfortable and without having to restraint your budget. Good luck.
164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 31, 2024, 10:42:48 PM
In terms of Yap, it was his hope to play one more time wearing the same uniform where he create his legacy, hoping that magnolia will sign him for another contract and let him entertain the fans again, not sure if that's already finalized and if there's already a negotiation regarding to that, but it was his hope and he's really aiming for that opportunity,  the reason why he requested the release with rain or shine after his contract ends.

Let's see and wait if that will going to happen, but for now, let's wait for the finals and see who's going to win the title.
The rumor was there and it's likely that he will be taken by them but we'll have to wait for the final and official announcement. So while there's no official news about it, it will remain as a rumor. He's been seen on Japan and so people have thought that he'd sign on B League but we don't know yet.

I thought James Yap had already retired because there was this recent article I read.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/rain-or-shine-to-retire-james-yap-s-no-18-jersey-a2244-20240130
Quote
CHICAGO - After approving his request to be released from the franchise, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are giving James Yap the dream gift.

Yap's jersey No. 18 will be retired by the team, never again to be issued to future Rain or Shine players, head coach Yeng Guiao said in a telephone interview.
It is Rain or Shine's most recent team that he's ever played and that's like he'll be honored by retiring his jersey. But there's still a rumor that he'd play for another team.

So is it really possible to sign again with Magnolia and then retire his number in another team? I'm a bit confuse.
I am also confused but it's possible. He came from retirement before even going back to Rain or Shine so everything is possible as long as a team wants him like to be on the bench because no doubt that he's got a lot of fanbase.
165  Economy / Gambling / Re: Most Popular Cryptocurrencies in Online Casinos | Research January 2024 on: January 31, 2024, 09:29:21 PM
Thank you for doing this research, it is without a doubt that we know the top #1 cryptocurrency that's being used by the majority of the casinos and that's none other our very own, Bitcoin.

I have to talk about this few coins beca they are very common and you are likely to see them available and being supported by most of the online gambling platforms, they are in the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin, these three are very common and there's no how you could experience making transactions on casinos without coming across them, but people only like using Litecoin for the purpose of being affordable in terms of transaction fee, it is cheaper to use.
That's true, someone who's into crypto gambling will definitely have to go through with these three if they are starting and if they have been used to the market. What they're going to learn is that they'll probably support or use the native token of that casino if ever they have it.
166  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You know trading style that's named - Social trading ? on: January 31, 2024, 03:14:11 PM
When I was still noob and don't know the crypto market, I've been seeing these ads on banners about social trading and usually it's with etoro advertisements. I don't have idea on how people are making money there until I've grown up and started to have an idea about it. Well, it's been there for so long but I am not personally a fan of it. Maybe if you're too lazy to trade and you see it as a profitable method, you're going to stay on it but for me, it's also the same as you trade personally because you'll never know if the trader you're copying will be profitable today and tomorrow.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Updates policy allowing bitcoin and crypto assets trust to be advertised. on: January 30, 2024, 11:36:16 PM
Not that happy or I don't feel anything with that news. What they should update is they upgrade their system and have a way to determine scam links and ads that are using them to scam many people. Can't they see those reports that are being done to those links that appears whenever someone is searching for crypto related things? Many of these phishing links and scam websites are even using them to advertise on their own search engine. With that, I'd be more happy to see news like that.
169  Economy / Economics / Re: Coping with Risk. on: January 30, 2024, 10:04:54 PM
so my question is, which is more risky?

A). Running a physical business that has a whole lot of risk associated with it or

B) running an online investment with high risk of hack that could result in you loosing all your asset.

Both are risky but if which is more risky, we have to get some clearer idea first on what type of online investment that you're going on. If this is through Bitcoin then obviously this is way better than the option A and lesser risky. But also understanding about being hacked and potentially losing all of your asset then you are not for online investments because that's what you're thinking and you don't study first on how to secure yourself. Technically, IMO option A is more risky because running a business has no way to go because you just do everything in theory based on your research. While doing an online investment, you can study the market and see the charts of it and your only worry is losing it because of hack so technically all you have to do is to do your own research on how to protect yourself from any attacks. While running a business is really unpredictable and as we know, many businessmen tend to close down because it's always like a gamble to them.
170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 30, 2024, 08:17:08 PM
No Ginebra in the finals but still there's the San Miguel Beermen that just swept them. And we're still waiting for the result of Magnolia and Phoenix Fuel Masters. I thought that it's gonna be a sweep too but let's see on the what ifs it is going to be Fuel Masters that will be making a history of doing a straigh 2 more wins. Otherwise, if they lose on Wednesday on the MOA arena against the Magnolia then that's it, it's going to be SMB and Magnolia at the grand finals.
I can't remember the last time these two met in the Finals, but I remember that Magnolia once became a champion. Although on paper it may seemed look like SMB is the heavy favorite, but things could be different in the FInals, just like how these Magnolia vs Phoenix has turned out to be. I hope there will be no sweep in the Finals, otherwise it will be a boring series. Magnolia is still capable though against a firepower Magnolia, if SMB have JMF, Magnolia also has Laput who is a 7 footer if I'm not mistaken.
Technically, they have a lot of championships as they've just been rebranded and renamed. I'm also hoping that there won't be any sweep that's going to happen because that's making every PBA fans especially the team fans exciting during the finals. And speaking of Magnolia, there's a rumor that James Yap is going to be taken away by the team again once this finals is done and they want them to see Yap end his career with them, retiring as a Magnolia since he really came from them before they rebrand from Purefoods and other franchise names.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: January 30, 2024, 03:23:34 PM
As a member of a family and there is a gambling addict within, which method do you think it's the best to rip off the addict from your family member?

1. Talk to them and don't leave their side for too long, show them some love and make sure they don't have anything to do with gambling ever again, be soft and gentle with them.

2. Be harsh about it, force them to quit, let them know that gambling isn't this safe, bounce on them all the time because you love them, don't go any soft on them, because been soft won't make them see reasons why it's bad to be a gambling addict.

Which do you think it's best? Some people do think that been soft and gentle will be more effective and some people think that been harder on them is the real love here, they need to make them stop by force.

What do you think?
Any of those will work but I think it's too brutal to say that you're going to rip him off. That member of your family that's addicted to gambling needs help and he has nowhere to go but his immediate and first family. If talking whether in a calm manner or not or even being harsh doesn't work for him then that's the time that you should be more harsh to him and give some ultimatum that you'll never give him the help that he needs. It's like in words but of course, you guys are family and you'll remain to be there.

About the points, you're telling the potential drawbacks whenever a club is on the lead. Like in any sporting activities, the point can't determine your win while there's still time remaining and that's why don't be confident until the game ends. There is no strategy that you've said on this but they're all some situational thoughts that you're telling us based on how you perceived that particular sport that you're betting. The factors you've said, they're not strategies and even if I try hard to comprehend them.

Well, I also see reasons with you because there could be many strategies for a gambler to win his game and it also depends. As to the points also, just like the idea you have, it is not enough that points will be considered as a vital strategy for analysis because it is not all the time it works, for instance if two top teams are in close contention on the table while they are having very limited games to play.
That's true, that's why if you are for the strategies then there are so much to consider and even if the points will determine the winner. As long as there's time, and the points are close to each other for both teams then everything can still happen.

About the points, you're telling the potential drawbacks whenever a club is on the lead. Like in any sporting activities, the point can't determine your win while there's still time remaining and that's why don't be confident until the game ends. for him, that's his approach on how he bets. so it may work for him but for others, it won't. so just take it as a tip but not totally applying it to your bets. we have our own strategies on every sports. for the OP, that's how it works on him.

there are also quite a number of factors to consider when you bet -
> familiarity with the sports / athletes
> actual performance of the athletes
> known injuries / health conditions of the athletes involved
> coach
> weather conditions
Yes, I understand that if it works for him it may not work for me and to the others. So along with the factors that you've mentioned, it can be helpful to those that haven't seen all of those factors when doing some analysis per bet to each game they look at.

175  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance alternatives on: January 29, 2024, 07:50:10 PM
I have seen people telling that they should support local exchanges in our country like PDAX, Gcrypto, Coins.ph and Maya. But as we know, not all of them supports every cryptocurrencies that are found there. A lot of them can be found in many exchanges and as for that exchange, I've been hearing a lot with kucoin, okex and bybit. But this is still depending if the decision of our SEC will also ban and stop their operations here until they comply to any regulating laws applied on them.
176  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 29, 2024, 06:26:48 PM
It's hard that you get old and you have no money and it's true, it's a bad situation when you get there. I am seeing a lot of old people in my country that didn't secured themselves as they grow older and that's because they love their family and never saved for themselves. That's why this generation should break the sandwich generation and they shouldn't make their children as their retirement. Don't forget to save for yourselves and invest as well because no one's gonna help you when you get old.

It is a problem that whenever you loss and you get emotional, you feel that you should double your bets. IMHO, that's a dangerous approach when you gamble and you seem to martingale but that's due to your emotional approach and I understand on how you do that. What you need to do is to just set yourself on how much you're going to gamble so that you won't be placing that much when you're emotional and do use somethings that will make you remind to stay calm and focus on your budget as you bet. Don't let your emotion ruin your day.
