1661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoin and other altcoin really ponzi schemes??? on: February 08, 2018, 07:00:04 AM
How can this be a ponzi scheme:

1) Are you told to add any members below you ?

2) Are you told that you will be given any incentive to promote Bitcoins ?

I think media and certain people are defaming Bitcoins just because they missed this huge opportunity.
1662  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 08, 2018, 06:54:54 AM
Even with receiving the occasional sMerit, this is just an estimate, I'm fairly certain I won't see my next forum rank for about three years.  I'm uncertain if that is the intended result.

Do not loose  hope. We can see changes to this merit system as well in future. Thyemos has mentioned it one of the comments. He also said that if merit system fails to control the spam on the forum, he will be forced to take more harsh decisions like completely removing signature campaigns. Ranks will become meaningless for most of the members then.
1663  Other / Meta / Re: Competition merits reward, need sponsors Legendary, Heroes, Sr., Fully on: February 08, 2018, 06:51:51 AM
If you have a thread where members can quote some of their quality posts, it is a nice idea. It gives exposure to new members and increases visibility for their posts.  Contest will make it very crowded and the quality posts may get overlooked among so many entries.
1664  Other / Meta / Re: For the love of all things please make Merit stay in the same window on: February 08, 2018, 06:45:19 AM
There's a lot of suggestions about Merit. I don't agree with Merit in its current form, but others think it's fine. That's life.

I think however there is one thing we can all agree on as a community: clicking +Merit and it opening up a new window is a huge disincentive to using the merit system. A simple jQuery window opening on the same page, or perhaps expanding to a text box where we can enter the amount and press send, without any page refresh needed (just a simple Ajax would do), would do absolute wonders to make giving merit a much easier and funner experience.

Only reason I can think for justifying the current system is that admin wanted to ensure that the member is not sending the merit by mistake. Opening on a new page is kind of a confirmation being asked. It is a good practice as merits are too scarce to be lost accidentally.
1665  Other / Meta / Re: Guide to earning merits on: February 08, 2018, 06:43:44 AM
You are good at adding the fluff but do we really need it ? If everyone did the research as per you mentioned in step 2, it will take them an hour to come up with a reply. It will be good for the forum but practically many members will not be able to give so much time voluntarily.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can you save money while playing gambling games? on: February 08, 2018, 06:15:31 AM
Well you could try by playing only with the money that you earned through their Faucet if you can't really stop from gambling,
I think it would be the best way to save money while playing gambling games.

Another easy way to save money in Gambling is by making proper use of bonuses. There are so many kind of bonuses and we can make use of all them. I liked the no deposit bonuses and used to win good money with that amount. Then there are also on-going bonuses launched from time to time.
1667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can maths help you win in gambling ? on: February 08, 2018, 06:10:58 AM
There was a Bollywood movie based on this called Teen Patti which is an awesome movie. It changed my way of thinking related to gambling. There is no doubt that if you are good at some sections of mathematics like probability, you have more chances of winning certain games. It requires a lot of real life practice though.
1668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: please help me seriously to leave gambling ???? on: February 08, 2018, 06:08:31 AM
Today i realised i am in huge huge trouble due to gambling...i just kept loosing amount in gambling quickly...decided many times to leave gambling but never happened....today i counted that i have lost almost 10 bitcoins in gambling in last 1-2 years and the amount i loose is going to keep on increasing...
i just tried to do every thing but nothing is quiet working...what ever i earn i dont know what to do with them and in some time i loose them again...
i am realising i am in big trouble, already in huge loss what to do... Embarrassed

Following are my suggestions:

1) You can consult  a doctor for this and he will write medicines related to anxiety. These generally belong to SSRIs.

2) There are therapies where you are made to interact with past gamblers who were able to quit this by determination.

3) Finally, it is important to keep yourself busy. Try to spend more time with family or prick a hobby.
1669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: is Bankless casino possible? on: February 08, 2018, 05:55:02 AM
This system will be possible if the organizer ( the one handling the system) puts huge fees on withdrawals. We underestimate the huge costs involved in operating a casino. Even when we talk of an online casino, there are huge costs involved. For instance, they have to spend large amount of budget on bonuses and promotions only to attract more customers.
1670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Whats your favorite game? on: February 08, 2018, 05:52:14 AM
I don't like games based on luck. I prefer games based on skills. You can eliminate all kinds of dice games. Cheesy

I am also on the same boat. 50%  of the time involved in online gambling is given to card games. Among all the card games, if I have to pick one, I will go with BlackJack. It is fun to interact with experienced members online as well.
1671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does crypto market decline affect your gambling? on: February 08, 2018, 05:45:06 AM
I do not spend much on Bitcoin gambling and thus prices does not affect me much. I got one advantage by this. I have noticed that now that prices of Bitcoins are on lower side, I can see my deposits being processed in less time. I know it will not last long as Bitcoin prices will recover but I am enjoying the current trends.
1672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your family past incidents effect you? on: February 08, 2018, 05:41:50 AM
Hi, i have a question for my gambler's buddies as i'm perplexed by this. I have a friend who really wishes to gamble, but he is not allowed to because his uncle lost his entire assets and some million's and his grandfather to lost another million or so (they're filthy rich). So due to this facts he is barred from gambling, they believe he'll loose money to, they're stopping him on past incidents and i'm really tired of explaining them they're wrong, what do you'll think, anyone else faces such issues?

In my family, no one was involved with gambling but I do gamble sometimes for fun. I do not think having someone in the family in past as gambler makes any difference. It is obvious that the other family members will stop your friend from gambling. He can play on casinos where no money is involved. Another option is to hide these activities from families but it requires certain conditions to be fulfilled.
1673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How safe is Bitcoin gambling on: February 08, 2018, 05:39:04 AM
I will say that it is more safe and thus I prefer it. Online casinos that require cash deposits want IDs, utility bills for verification purpose. You will hardly find a casino skipping this part. Personally, I am not comfortable with this as it can result in my identity being stolen in future. With Bitcoins we can have more anonymity and thus it is a better alternative.
1674  Other / Meta / Re: I would like to have my account unlocked on: February 08, 2018, 05:32:09 AM
Thank you for the response.

The email account the user account was created with has not changed for the lifetime of the account and I can certainly GPG sign from that.
There very well may be Bitcoin addresses in the PMs that I could verify against, but I'm not sure if there.

The reasons why I want to unlock my account:
1) It's an account created in 2010 and I have PMs with various people over the years, some of whom I'd like to reconnect with.
2) It is actually not a Newbie account. I had it lifted from Newbie status 4 years ago.

Have you followed the procedure at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 ? You should open a thread like this only after you have followed the procedure mentioned in the link.
1675  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Decay system ? on: February 08, 2018, 05:30:09 AM
Please some one answer the sMerit decay system . How long it will gonna hold ? Just simple question >>

As per the current rules, it is not going to decay ever. But I think this will be changed soon. If I was the one making the decision I would have set it to 1 month. This ensures that the members are actively looking for good posts and meriting them as well.
1676  Other / Meta / Re: Who wields the Banhammers? Do we have enough? on: February 08, 2018, 05:29:04 AM
The recent introduction of the merit system was a major step forward (in my not very humble opinion), towards a useful forum, free of spam. The trust system was all we had before that, and it didn't really fit. I was a bit passionate about that in threads like this one. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2806313.msg28705551#msg28705551

Am feeling like I was a bit harsh now, tbh.

I get what the DTs were doing, discouraging spammers by tagging them early so they'd just delete. But the problem was that it diluted the value of the "scammer" red mark of plague. Which, to be honest again, is valuable.

With the merit system out there, and the DTs on low-alert, the responsibility is largely falling on the mods to identify (or react to reports) and ban these spam and scam accounts.

Do we have enough mods? Can they cope? Does this need review?

Here are my observations regarding this:

1) Merit system will make the work easier for mods. This is because a lot of shit posters will just leave the forum as they know that they cannot rank up now just with activity.

2) We will also see less registrations ( account farming) and genuine people will come here.

3) They might have to handle the additional work related to merit but we can make things easier for them. That can be done by accurate reporting. There are some members who opened exclusive threads for helping the community.
1677  Other / Meta / Re: Why are signatures allowed in the META forum? on: February 08, 2018, 05:23:42 AM
I do not think that signature should be disable in meta forum. Most of the discussions here are in English. These can be understood by the campaign managers and the advertisers also get the exposure required as it is one of the most frequently visited sections here. It is not allowed in sections where it is of no use to advertisers.
1678  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 08, 2018, 05:19:15 AM
if in my opinion there is good and bad about this merit called merit, why I say so
because there will be a cheating party as an example there will be buying and selling of merit who want to rush up the rank

There are some solutions for this as well:

1) People found abusing the merit system are getting negative trust from senior members.

2) Even if someone is selling merit points, his smerits will finish in few days. Mainly the merits are n hand of merit sources who are selected by the admin.

surely he who wants to get merit honestly he will be creative and creative word creation
that's my response about merit,
how about your response about this merit thing?

You are right about the pros. It will benefit the forum for sure. Regarding my opinion, I think the new system was much needed and we may see further improvements to this.
1679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question/Poll - Will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? on: February 03, 2018, 02:13:02 PM
Guys I'm working something, which I will definitely share with the community soon.

I've a very simple question to all traders and Bitcoin enthusiasts.

Would you be interested in taking part in a lottery where you can win 100 Bitcoins by investing 0.01 BTC?

Basic rules are as follows: Participation cost  0.01 BTC, 15,000 participants.. 1 winner gets 100 Bitcoins, 20 Runner up winners get 2 Bitcoins each.

I'm working on a similar concept - wanted some thoughts from you folks before I take it any further..

So will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? Yes or No and why...

There is very less probability of winning with 15000 participants, so I will pass. However, you can get these number of participants provided you promote your website nicely. Most of the users go with trusted and reliable websites for betting purpose only so you can start with smaller amounts to gain trust of users.
1680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can you save money while playing gambling games? on: February 03, 2018, 02:08:15 PM
If you think that as an obligation you can definitely learn how to save money.
It's very important for our future as we cannot be certain of what will happen in the future, we should allocate funds for emergency situation in life
and of course an amount that we can use for leisure and investing in order to grow our money.

People with family and other responsibilities should always be careful with money being invested in gambling related activities. The monthly earnings should be allocated for different purposes. Personally, I do not spend more than 10% of my monthly earnings on gambling related activities and I am still single. The people who have just started to gamble should be more cautious as it could be very tempting with initial wins.
