1661  Economy / Economics / Re: Dow Jones Price Drop & The Corona Virus? on: March 09, 2020, 05:27:24 PM
Bitcoin under 8k usd, The Dow Jones plummeting around 1500 points, oil 20% down and the Coronavirus still untamed.. Is this the beginning of the end?

LOL no. It is a start of bear market. World economy was in bull market for over 10 years. It had to stop at some point and start declining. Bitcoin does that every few ears, why worlds economy cant at least once every decade?

Simply imagine worlds economy as the Bitcoin at start of 2018.

This is to inform member of this esteemed forum that we did not know about the plagiarized white paper but it was due to the freelancer that handle the job, please accept our sincere apology.

LOL. What kind of a project is that have a freelancer to write a whitepaper.? The whitepaper is a plan what and how you will do. If someone else write it for you that mean he know more what and how you will do then you do.
1663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 08, 2020, 09:52:42 PM
Bernie could ban Bitcoin in a heartbeat with an executive order.

Governments ban Bitcoin. Allover the world. Specially more autocratic. But then that country main court in case of USA constitutional will over rule that ban. Such things will keep happen. I do not believe Sanders government will be considered as autocratic government.

Any candidate for USA president will be good for Bitcoin. They will all increase public debt. If Tump managed to do that in such economic growth I dont see a hero to do opposite.

Its silly to think a White House full of extreme leftists (communist idealogues) wouldnt be hostile to Bitcoin. Do you think its a coincidence that two out of the four communist countries on Earth have banned Bitcoin in many ways.

Extreme leftists don't like private property, they want the goverment to run everything. They dont want people using money free of censorship that cant be debased. Of course they hate Bitcoin. Bernie would put an army of these people in power.

Bernie is toast, so its a moot point. America isnt trying to go back in time and become the Soviet Union, thats why he was rejected. King Bitcoin wins again.  Smiley

You dont know what communism is. USA have Democrats and Republicans, both parties are very far from communism. To start a communist party first both would need to unite in to one party named a Demoplican party.

Any USA government will be hostile to Bitcoin. Because government will lose some control over people. But the constitution will defend Bitcoin no matter what. No government can win. All of them can ignore court rulings and can fight some time the battle they will lose.

Greece and balkan europeans under attack by migrants, is this a Case for Nato?

Turkey is NATO.  You did not know? How come? Both Greece and Turkey are in NATO. They will have to make an agreement. Without NATO help.

why should nato side with imperialist erdogan who uses islamists to destroy assad in order to establish a corrupt taliban regime in syria

NATO dont side with anyone. NATO is a defensive pact of the members of NATO. Turkey and Greece. If any country attack Greece or Turkey NATO will defend them.  NATO gives a shit what any member is doing in other countries. That is sole problem of that country and not a problem of defensive pact NATO.
1665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies as a Legal Tender on: March 08, 2020, 05:33:05 PM
https://dailyhodl.com/2020/03/06/french-court-issues-historic-bitcoin-btc-ruling-says-worlds-leading-cryptocurrency-is-a-fungible-intangible-asset-just-like-money/

The above article is about a French court ruling about Bitcoin loans qualifying as commercial loans and that makes it a legal tender just like fiat money.

In that same article, a counsel from a certain law firm also shared his opinion on the subject

“When we lend Bitcoin or when we borrow it, it is a consumer loan which obliges us to return the same quality and quantity, and therefore makes the borrower bear the risks or benefit from the fruits. This also applies to Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum or other cryptocurrencies.”

I was wondering about that last sentence. If the same case happens and they use BCH, ETH, and other cryptocurrencies for the loan, will the French government also rule that they are also legal tender?

That leads me into another question, if the government allows other cryptocurrencies as legal tender, should they limit them to two, five, or ten? We know there are already thousands of coins in existence and there will be more in the future. I am thinking that many coin developers will only abuse if governments will not limit the number of accepted cryptocurrencies.

There is no logic to prohibit anything. You decide what coin you will accept for whatever you are selling. You will accept the one that is totally decentralised and premissionless. Oh and the one that no one can spy what you will buy with it.

Hostile takeover and the way forward

If you use centralized exchange as an exchange and not as a wallet then no one can use your coins for anything.  Centralized exchnages can not do anything with PoW coins. Nothing at all. STEEM is Some kind of PoS, and PoS have many flaws, this is just one of them.
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: March 08, 2020, 04:36:18 PM
New bottom. Both Bitcoin and USD price are way under October 2019 price.  Covid and possible recession are painting fresh crypto charts.

1669  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin ready for world wide 1 currency? on: March 08, 2020, 03:49:47 PM
Trust me in 50 years from now or less there will be no government or organisation controlled currency anymore. At least not any that will be meaningfully valued.

Considering the average life expectency of the users accessing this forum, I dont think they are going to here anymore for that long time, I do hope to be proven wrong though. Grin

But my statement still stand. The ghost of permissionless money is out of the pandora box. No one can put it back anymore. Impossible. They can only struggle some time to not infect them. But that is just temporary.
1670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If Coronavirus never happened on: March 07, 2020, 07:17:13 PM
Yes, it is! Because fiat currency is not safe anymore if corona virus will not be contained for the next coming months.

Vaccine for corona virus will not be available even next winter. Usually it takes 1.5-2 years for getting a vaccine. If by some miracle we get one before next winter start we will be very very lucky.
1671  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin ready for world wide 1 currency? on: March 07, 2020, 06:45:25 PM
I ask this because of the corona virus where people are too scared to hold money.

The issue is that we value btc against the usd and other fiat currencies. If fiat currencies were no longer how would bitcoin be valued...inflation etc? Can't get my head around how it would work.

Nope. Maybe for the next Corona, that come 10 years from now. Bitcoin is in very early stages of development. Because it made few people super rich is way over hyped.

Bitcoin is leading cryptocurrency and probably will stay so but it will not become leading currency because it can't compete with fiat currencies, at least not yet. Not corona virus or any other threath will change that.
When you look how little percentage of overal population in the world is using Bitcoin then it's everything clear. At the moment Bitcoin doesn't have a chance compared to fiat.

Trust me in 50 years from now or less there will be no government or organisation controlled currency anymore. At least not any that will be meaningfully valued.
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New EU Law Will Make it Impossible for Banks to Ban Cryptocurrency-Related Trans on: March 07, 2020, 06:04:23 PM
Interesting take, only time will tell if this is correct.

I think the banks etc will not let this happen too easily.

They can still not proceed transactions, but by doing that they will rich being sued and pay large fines. I dont think any for profit organisation will chose this way.
1673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 07, 2020, 05:39:59 PM
I am shocked that IOTA has not lost more of its value.

It did not lost at all but gained. At start of the year price of IOTA was 15 cents now is 23 cents. This simply tells you that all prices in crypto have nothing to do with reality.

Later it counts only the difference of selling price and buying price. The price between the two event don't matter. You have at this time not any "gain", you have some IOTA's and maybe you will able to sell it later - OR NOT.

That counts for each person buying and selling coins. I and ServerNoMore are telling of price of the coin. He is surprised price did not decrease. I am surprised that price actually increased. No matter that this event that ended all transactions for more then a week happened.

The death of deflationary tokens

Any token needs some usecase. That emission of a token is deflationary is not a usecase. Tokens have to be or utility tokens or securities. Probably something else that I dont know. But economic of the token cant be sole usecase. If that is the case, that token is ponzi. Just like Bitconect.

The Fed Cuts Interest Rates as the Virus Spreads https://bravenewcoin.com/insights/will-an-interest-rate-cut-push-investors-into-bitcoin
How the effects of the global coronavirus epidemic will play out in the crypto markets remains to be seen but as digital gold and as an alternative currency, bitcoin looks well-positioned to withstand the potential storm ahead.

As quoted above -BUT! Despite the instances of pullback, is the downside move primarily fueled by Coronavirus fears?

How many Americans are confirmed with coronavirus?AFAIK,there are 230 confirmed cases. Is this a lot?No.

Not that related to this but I just noticed.  USA had 14 deaths and 240 confirmed cases.  That is far away from ratio of other countries. Switzerland have one dead and 214 confirmed cases. South Korea have 43 dead and 6593 confirmed cases. Something is not right with USA. Or medical care of confirmed is not good enough or there are many more confirmed cases than the ones reported.

1679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bch - halving on: March 05, 2020, 09:08:37 PM
33 days left. With miners leaving to mine Bitcoin since they will get their reward halved, the blocks times will turn into hours or maybe even days. anyone wanting to transact should do his transactions prior to the halving to avoid problems.
1680  Economy / Speculation / Re: Doubt the tested support at 6.4k will hold forever on: March 05, 2020, 08:12:17 PM
What saved us in December 2019 was the strong 6.4k support, but will it hold forever?

If corona virus trigger recession and recession make Dow Jones fall under 15000 points, we will see fro sure sub $6400 Bitcoin.  How strong trigger will corona virus be, we will see this month.
