for those skipping 3 pages of waffle

in short the 'unknown' IS multiple sources that are not linked together via mining, but just put into one category on the piechart.

Ergo, is anyone else concerned that 51% of the pie is being eaten by an unknown source?

I propose...

Board Election Results Announcement

By Brian Goss, Chairman, Elections Committee • May 9, 2014

Today the Bitcoin Foundation elected two new board members:

Bobby Lee is the CEO and co-founder of BTC China, the first Bitcoin exchange in China and one of the leading Bitcoin exchanges worldwide. Bobby started his career in Silicon Valley as a software engineer at Yahoo! pioneering some of the earliest online communities on the Internet.  He has spent the last seven years in Shanghai, China where he was Director of Software Engineering at EMC in China and CTO of SMG BesTV, the leading IPTV company in China. Most recently, he was Vice President of Technology for Walmart’s China E-Commerce business. Bobby graduated from Stanford University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science. He has his E-MBA from CEIBS.

Brock Pierce is Co-Founder of GoCoin, ExpressCoin, KnCMiner.cn, and Robocoin Asia. A prolific angel investor, he is city leader of BitAngels Los Angeles and runs the first Bitcoin syndicate to achieve top 10 status on AngelList. Pierce has raised more than $200 million on behalf of his companies and led more than 30 acquisitions in his career. Pierce’s entrepreneurial activities focus around digital currencies like Bitcoin, games, ad tech and payments.

Voting for our two open industry board seats closed last night at 11:59pm EDT, and the results were decrypted and published at 9:00am EDT this morning. In this second round of voting, the top two candidates had to receive at least 50% approval in order to qualify as a winner. 71 voters participated, 31 abstained, and as a result, Bobby received 79% approval, Brock 65% and Vinny 63%.

Bobby and Brock will join the five existing board members for a new total of seven board seats starting June 1, 2014.

Thank you to all industry members for participating in the voting process. Congratulations Bobby and Brock!

Since I trust Bitcoin and The Bitcoin Foundation, and the latter deems it A-OK to have an accused pedophile on its board, I will now try to convince my sister that she should drop the charges against the pedophile that tried to make contact with my nephew via the X-Box he received last Christmas.

I'm sure it was all just a misunderstanding when the Paedo-, a registered sex offender in an adjoining state, made contact with my 11-year-old nephew and his friends. I'm pretty sure he'll grow outta the way he's been speaking and carrying himself sinse the latter part of January with his counselor's help. In fact, I now firmly believe that the counselor is no longer needed, and a ton of money could be saved on my sister's part since this is obviously the new norm.

Furthermore, I want to invite the Paedo- over for dinner once a week, with Wednesday - Hump Day - being the most logically choice, whereupon after dinner he'll be allowed to fuck my 11-year-old nephew up his thight ass in my company while I observe the BTC exchange rate go up-and-down, up-and-down,... while I jack-off to the latest issue of Goat Quarterly.

Strike that! Why should I have to jack-off when I, too, can fuck my nephew up his ass along with the Paedo-, a la a three-pronged attack. What's good enough for a board member of The Bitcoin Foundation is definitely good enough for its members.

Now, that The Bitcoin Foundation has officially lost its fuckin' mind, I'm going to re-watch my favorite Brock Pierce video and jack-off all over myself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmaRTZpJgPA

I'm a pirate! I use limewire to get my music. Or at least I used to. It stopped working for me a few months ago, but on the same computer it works for the rest of my family flawlessly. I can't get any connection to the internet for some reason... any ideas?

theymos's answer:

Avast, hearty! Check t' make aye yer defenses be down, lest yer music be shot down by six pounders! Go t' start, then control panel, then "windows firewall". I recommend you disable this completely, it's not really too useful. If you don't want t' disable it completely, follow this guide on forein' a port: http://portforward.com/english/routers/firewalling/Microsoft/WindowsXPFirewallFirewall/AllowIn.htm You need port 6346 TCP open for limewire t' work.

Good luck pillaging on the high seas!

With that, I'm calling it a night, all.

I like using sex as my analogy of choice. Remember how scary the first time was? But would you ever go back to only masturbation?

Crypto is to fiat what sex is to masturbation: better in every conceivable way.  Grin

Hell, remember the first time you masturbated and then wondered what the hell just happened? Two to three days later you were at it again with the same results. After a couple more times, you had what was going on down to a science, so you hunted down the nearest goat. Okay, maybe, just maybe, it didn't take you as long as I, but surely a goat was in the equation. Wasn't it?

Obviously, it's an SEO tactic, given that CoinDesk.com, registered on May 4, 2008, is own by Shakil Khan, formally a moderator for the Google advertising forum for 2 years at Webmasterworld.

Google to acquire BAIDU?

So for the last week or so, everyday I get an email asking me what I think of "Google buying Baidu" ?

So here's my take

The time I have spent in China in 2005 and having talked to many Business Folk, End Users, Advertisers, Taxi Drivers and Part Time Girlfriends has led me to 1 thing.

Baidu run the show!

I will try and explain it in simple terms and hope no one is offended by the example I am going to use.

Taking on Baidu or Alibaba in China for Google and Yahoo, is very similar to me wanting to sell Books to Schools in the USA when my competitor happens to be Minister of Education, basically it ain't gonna happen.

In CHINA it's all about who you know and your relationships with these people, and this (in my opinion) can not be bought with $$$s.

Yahoo have obviously realised this and hence decided the best route is getting the local guys to run their business for them whilst taking ashare of the bigger Chinese Mooncake.

Google on the other hand are a kick axx company with some very very smart people and an amazing brand, however China is 1 place where all this can mean very little or very much dependant on the mood of the people, and at the moment it's all about Baidu.

An outright buy or a much bigger partnership would make total sense, as ultimately it's about the advertising $, and this Google has lots of when you look at their advertiser base, Baidu has the user base but very little of the foreign $$$s are coming through, although their marketing activity is being ramped up since the IPO.

For a Western company trying to advertise on BAIDU is similar to me asking for "Toasted Cheese Sandwich" and being handed "Cheese, Bread and a Toaster with Chinese instructions"

As a sidenote, there may be all sorts of political and financial wall street type reasons for the above to take OR not take place, however there are many more qualified folk to share that kind of news with you.

I am just sharing it from my point of view, having been 1 of Google's earliest paid advertisers in 2001, having been involved at Webmasterworld as moderator for the Google advertising forum for 2 years, Having spent millions of $s gloablly with Google, and now sitting here in Shanghai looking at the Bigger picture and being asked questions by Advertisers on how they should spend their search $s in China.
1711  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My 1,132 BTC stolen by Paymium ongoing exchange index via BitStamp. on: May 09, 2014, 03:35:19 AM
I still do not see any 1000 BItcoin transactions. I can't understand why you can not show it to us.

Ah well, Good luck with your claim Smiley

What the fuck am I missing here? I, too, don't see the 1,000 BTC or the 132 BTC transactions because InstaWallet didn't include the bitcon wallet IDs of either one of them when they came back online. That's what I've been complaining about from day one but was put on ignore.

We were all instructed to file the information we had, and that included missing wallet IDs, of which I did for all three claims at the earliest possible time. davout claimed that he couldn't locate any of the claims, of which I say is impossible unless all the data was expunged.

Remember, I had grave concerns prior to the "hack" that was not caused by me ONLY having $83 USD (valued at the time) on account when I expressed said concerns to davount mid-March of last year, prior to him deciding to take a holiday during the time frame when the "hack" occurred.

My fears were put to rest with some mumble-jumble that satisfied me after another Bitcoiner concurred all was well, so I went back to the BFL thread(s) to bring awareness of my latest findings so that fellow bitcoiners don't get taken while my bitcoins, assumed safe, were in the process of being confiscated, now residing in one of davout's bitcoin wallets.

I'm sorry to bump in and play noob but...  Why the heck did you put so much bitcoins on ONE wallet; why did you not use offline storage and back it up?  Why did you not split the BTC into smaller amounts???

If I was you, I'd be acting a lot more pissed Tongue  Sorry for your loss :/

The original wallet contained 1,132 and I split it up into two wallets: 1,000 BTC and 132 BTC.

I was uber-pissed at the onset in the now locked InstaWallet claims thread until I was kindly informed via a fellow Bitcoiner to chill, that being the better course of action, of which I heeded his advice. It wasn't until October, 2013, and beyond, when I resubmitted claims and they went unanswered via email, et al. that I went into I WAS PISSED OFF MOTHERFUCKER mode.

These Paymium motherfuckers were able to garner a $400K USD VC from Gilitt, and with that capital they created, then closed four ventures, with the only one remaining is Bitcoin-Central, a Bitcoin exchange servicing the European market. Here's is there reach:

My crazy theory: JP Morgan buys MtGox for $1 and promises to pay all MtGox-clients with real money?

Are you talking about the JP Morgan bankers that committed suicide or the ones about to. BTW, in less than 24 hours from the date of the interview(?), Autumn Radtke is about to jump.

For those looking for clues as to why the interview(?) comes across as strange, perhaps there's hidden clues embedded somewhere:

Link to interview please?

It was in post #4 of this very thread, bud:

1714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A tale of how Brock Pierced the corporate veil on: May 08, 2014, 11:00:30 PM
How much of this shit do you think is true?  Is Pierce really a poofter?  Does Rectum really treat him like his bitch?  Did he really fuck that swiss guy out of $50 million?

How did that lawsuit finally settle?  That might tell us a bunch about the level of truth in those allegations.  Either way, that was a heck of a read.  Some crazy shit will happen to you if you work with the wrong type of people.

You're kidding, right? I have about five threads penned over the past week, summarizing as best as possible everything considering Brock Pierce, et al., and this thread is trying to make heads or tails outta it.

Hell, I even went as far as to show that Autumn Radtke associated with all the principals of Save Gox .com as far back as 2009 but, sadly, she committed suicide(?) due to First Meta, of which GoCoin has its office, not doing as well as she had hoped.

The way I see it, we either stop this madness right here, right now, or put everybody associated with Silk Road Equity on the board of The Bitcoin Foundation today so that we don't have to deal with the fallout down the road.

1716  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: More proof that savegox.com is a sham. on: May 08, 2014, 08:07:38 PM
Some things that should be obvious to anyone who has lived for a while in the real world:
* Once you find that someone told a flat out lie (such as "MtGOX is solvent and all your coins are safe"), you should not give ANY weight to absolutely ANYTHING he has said or will say, by voice or in writing. Ditto for any digital data that he may produce.
* Any digital document or database may have been altered or faked.  Yes, even cryptographically signed ones..
* An anonymous leak may have been leaked by ANYONE. Yes, even by that guy.  Or that other guy.
* When a huge pile of money disappears from inside a company, the first suspects are its top executives, then other staff, then outsiders, then the cat, then time-traveling lizards from an antimatter galaxy, and only lastly errors/bugs/accidents etc..
* Scammers ALWAYS sound and look honest, competent, reliable, etc.  If they didn't, they wouldn't be scammers.
* Someone who made a pile of money with a scam, and walked away free with it, is strongly motivated to do it again.
* If someone can pocket a large pile of money without any risk of concrete punishment, he most surely will.

Well, as I keep saying, the matter is in the hands of the Japanese court to weigh the various risks and likelihood of various outcomes.

As my current impression, I think that some form of rehabilitation of GOX would be better than liquidation, but if the rehabilitation proposals do NOT appear to be legit, then liquidation may be the better course of action.  I certainly do NOT have enough facts to make such a judgement, even though from what i read there are some pretty decent rehabilitation proposals out there that I believe have been proposed to the japanese court..

I could not find anywhere the details of the proposal - but how can they recover 650,000 BTC lost?

Simple. They can't! Especially if the reported amount of BTC on Mt Gox wasn't there in the first place. For instance, with my real 1,132 BTC claim on InstaWallet aside, I could claim to the insurance company that I had $1M USD worth of other people's barn wood stored in that barn that burned down. BTW, while I'm waiting for the insurance company to pay me, I'm in negotiations to sell the ashes - pennies on the dollar - to some pedophile investors out to make a quick buck on my lost. During the same time, I'll champion one lucky dude to fill an empty board seat on The Barn Wood Foundation.

Yes, I think tracking down the original wallet that you had the 1,000+ coins in is the key.

This whole story really sucks, I hate to hear it. It's a true deception of trust all around from the sounds of it. It seems like at the time you weren't very security safe when it came to Bitcoin, but I don't think many people were. You had no reason to have any alarms go off either because davout is staff here. It does all seem really crazy.

Good thing is if you can somehow prove those are your Bitcoins, it looks like they are still sitting somewhere.

Are they still offering "claims" or "refunds" for when that "hack" happened? I wonder how many bitcoins have been left behind or people just simply didn't bother with redeeming them?

It was less than $20K USD at the time when I first entrusted the bitcoins with InstaWallet, seeing that davout was staff and all and that theymos trusted him. Besides, several large wallets, some over 1,000 BTC, were refunded by InstaWallet to various (assumed, but...) non-customers of theirs during the first refunds as seen in the txs, some of which flowed directly to Bitcoin-Central. At the onset, NOBODY with only 50 BTC in their wallets was expecting refunds until after all the ones under said amount were united first. This fact was reiterated several times, but proved to not be the case from the very first refund.
