1701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I Never belittle my SATs because a drop of water makes an ocean on: March 29, 2023, 01:03:45 AM
I agree, but I think your first wallet as a newbie shouldn't remain to be your wallet when you have already accumulated so much. Normally, a newbie's first Satoshis are bought for the sake of experience, or earned from faucets, for example. Security measures may not be strictly followed also. It's because a newbie is just starting to learn. But as soon as you learn the dos and don'ts, the safety and security tips, the best practices, you would also improve in the way you handle your funds.
1702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a casino ever run without the government's awareness? on: March 29, 2023, 12:29:26 AM
Although there are crypto gambling platforms that are labeled as decentralized, I don't think they are truly decentralized. They may be using the blockchain technology, but they are everything but decentralized. They have known owners who run the operation. They have official headquarters. They are registered. They comply with their taxes and other responsibilities. In other words, they are like a normal company. So they can't be decentralized. After all, gambling is heavily regulated.
1703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: March 29, 2023, 12:06:37 AM
Definition of Bitcoin mixing:
A cryptocurrency tumbler or cryptocurrency mixing service[1] is a service that mixes potentially identifiable or "tainted" cryptocurrency funds with others, so as to obscure the trail back to the fund's original source.

Even this definition of Bitcoin mixing by Wikipedia is a bit questionable. The connotation is still almost referring to money laundering, which isn't really true. Bitcoin mixing services in this definition simply doesn't appear as a neutral tool for privacy, which is wrong. It seems it is something that is not normally used by ordinary people.

If I were to define a Bitcoin mixing service, I'd simply say it's a tool by which Bitcoin funds are mixed with others to protect the user's privacy.
1704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of decentralization and BTC digital economy on: March 27, 2023, 11:32:58 AM
I haven't watched it, and I guess I probably won't. I will give them the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to unbiased views, these people are not the best out there. They're more of businessmen than visionaries, especially Zhao and Sun. I'm not even sure if these two are assets or liabilities to the crypto community. I don't know what they're preaching, but if it's the gospel of Bitcoin, they're certainly not practicing what they're preaching, not walking the talk. Andreas Antonopoulos is a world better than them.

This is the information field around bitcoin, and it seems to me that every opinion has the right to exist. It may or may not affect you. But you will understand that some people have that mindset, and based on that, you can speculate on what events can come our way.

There are opinions that are illogical or based on fallacies; they don't have the right to exist. There are opinions that are based on lies; they don't have the right to exist, either. Dangerous and ignorant opinions, especially coming from influential people and those who make decisions that affect the community as a whole, shouldn't exist.

Just less than an hour ago, I was reading a news from one of the leading newspapers in the country. The headline itself shocked me. I was really taken aback. I cannot believe that "The Philippine Government Will Digitalize With BSV Blockchain".[1] I simply couldn't believe what I was reading. This is an example of the dangers of wrong opinions proliferating especially in the higher echelons of the society. Whatever opinion the representative of this shitcoin created among various leaders here doesn't have the right to exist.

1705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 27, 2023, 06:00:32 AM
LOL! After barking and calling out the stars, Casimero is now fighting against the crumbs. This is what you get when you easily waste the great fight opportunities that are given to you. Well, Casimero can certainly excel in this little fights, though. He will easily dismantle these weak opponents, notwithstanding their records. So his performance will still be appreciated. But time isn't on his side anymore. He will have to climb the ladder sooner rather than later and get the good the quality opponents with big names.
1706  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance support employees help customers in China bypass KYC. on: March 27, 2023, 03:52:52 AM
It only means that Binance's KYC system is flawed and too weak. So, based on the article of CNBC, it was said that these "angels" or employees or binance volunteers have taught ways to bypass the KYC and one of it is through forging and falsification of documents.

Some of the techniques that employees and volunteers have shared involve forging bank documents or offering false addresses. Others involve simple manipulation of Binance’s systems.

Employees, volunteers and customers also shared video guides and documents that showed mainland residents how to falsify their country of residence in order to obtain Binance’s debit card, which would effectively turn their Binance crypto into a conventional checking account.

CZ shouldn't tolerate this and I guess he has to make some shuffling or reorganization or completely remove all of those employees from departments that are assigned on the KYC process. That's the only thing he can do when news like circulates on the web on how flawed their system was.

My opinion may have a certain amount of prejudice or bias, but my general observation is that Chinese people are first and foremost Chinese and it is only secondary that they are businessmen or employees or law enforcers or professors or even sentient or moral beings. For what it's worth, the Chinese people are Chinese more than people.

So I don't think the problem is just that the KYC system is flawed and weak. It is that Chinese people are controlling the system and that they are accommodating their fellow Chinese to get onboard surpassing all the necessary processes. And CZ is probably not in the position to tolerate it or not. However strongly he denies that Binance is not a Chinese company, it essentially is.
1707  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7 Rules for Writing a Good Post Title on: March 25, 2023, 03:43:37 AM
In formal writing, there are a number of rules in writing the title. For example, and this is one that you missed, there is a rule to capitalize all the first letters of every word except articles and conjunctions, among others. But is this applicable here? Are members here very particular about how titles are structured, or whether they're written properly or not? After all, this isn't some kind of a grammar or writing forum.

What's important for me is that the title succinctly captures the topic that's to be discussed. That's enough I guess.
1708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we lived when we had no choice until Bitcoin came on: March 25, 2023, 03:09:39 AM
There's nothing wrong when property rights are strictly enforced. There may be unintended consequences in making sure that ownership is made clear, but it is certainly good rather than bad. I don't actually find any problem when titles or certificates are issued signifying our ownership over certain properties. Although it is also self-serving for the government because that would also be used for tax purposes, the fact is that it legally protects the properties of people.

As a matter of fact, I think it's about time that Bitcoin is also given the same benefit.
1709  Economy / Economics / Re: My survival strategies in this harsh economic conditions on: March 25, 2023, 02:28:25 AM
You are someone to emulate. You have done a really good job. You are both responsible and forward-looking. Apparently, you aren't only good at financial management, something that many of us here in my country sorely lacks, you are also practical and wise.

But if I may conjecture, you also don't have a vice, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the impression is that you don't spend on useless things. Smoking, drinking, gambling, and other vices are some of the main reasons why many families here cannot arrive at a sufficient budget. A good slice of their income simply goes to waste because of these vices.
1710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Taught Me To Dare to Dream on: March 25, 2023, 01:54:25 AM
I don't seem to understand what you're trying to say. So you are a trader now? You failed in everything and then you found your success in trading? Well, good job for you. As far as I know, only a few have survived in crypto trading. I tried it myself. I quit after some time. Most, if not all, of my friends have also stopped actively trading. You must have developed some good trading skills.

Anyway, I also enjoy being in this community, and for many reasons, but, unlike you, it's never "because with this community I can collect bitcoins."
1711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about this? on: March 25, 2023, 01:33:15 AM
When some people ask questions about gambling, such as "Can someone can make a living through gambling? I don't like to engage in such conversations because those who doubt that gambling can change someone's life are usually those who have gambled and failed multiple times or those who don't really know gambling strategies.

I'm not sure of your point, but tell me, do you know of a specific gambling strategy that guarantees something? Is there even one? I know that so many lives have changed because of gambling, 99% for the worse, 1% for the better.

Quote
Recently, a Uganda pastor who won 100million shillings decided to shut down his ministry. This left me with several questions in my head, such as ' Do religious leaders gamble? Is it right for religious leaders to gamble? Knowing fully well that most of them preach against gambling in their religious places. What is the ethical and moral implications of gambling, particularly in the context of religious practices and beliefs?

If I'm not mistaken, Christians don't treat gambling as a sin. I'm not sure, though, if there is a particular Christian sect that treats gambling otherwise. Muslims, however, consider gambling as haram. However, there are still casinos in some Muslim countries.
1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be the biggest means of fulfilling dreams in the future. on: March 24, 2023, 11:22:52 AM
I strongly agree that saving in Bitcoin is way better than saving fiat in a bank. Especially in the long term, Bitcoin may really be of great help to fulfill some of our dreams. But I don't want to make Bitcoin a kind of false hope to many. Success in life doesn't depend on Bitcoin. Fulfilling your dreams doesn't have to include Bitcoin. It's certainly wrong to make it appear as though Bitcoin is the manna sent down from heaven, the one every hopeless person on earth has been waiting for all his/her life.

Develop your skill. Master it. It will bring you great success. Bitcoin? Yes, it's a good way to store your money, that is, if you have the money. But know that it, too, might one day perish.
1713  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's highest amount instant exchanges can be trusted with? on: March 24, 2023, 10:36:22 AM
Some exchanges may have a higher level of trustworthiness than others, but there's always some level of risk involved when using any platform.

Personally, I haven't swapped very large amounts on instant exchanges before, as I tend to prefer the added security of using a traditional exchange.

I think it really depends on your personal preference and risk tolerance. Splitting up larger transactions into smaller ones can definitely add an extra layer of security, but it can also be more time-consuming and inconvenient.

So, up to you to weigh the benefits and drawbacks and make the decision that feels right for you.

LOL! Are you guys twins? Or are these two accounts owned by just a single person? Either way, these two posts are basically the same. It seems a text spinner is used to make them look different, or perhaps they are manually paraphrased. Whatever; surely it isn't just a coincidence that these two posts are similar.

Anyway, I've just made an instant swap with my Exodus mobile wallet. I feel a little more confident with it because it's a non-custodial wallet, albeit closed-source. Yeah, it's basically not an exchange, but if no-fuss swaps is all you need, it's probably better than depositing your money in an exchange.
1714  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Warning about OKX exchange: Funds held hostage, withdrawals disabled without not on: March 24, 2023, 10:16:14 AM
All this time, I'm thinking OKX is better than Binance, or at least a better alternative. If this controversy is confirmed, they're apparently much worse. Although I care a little whenever an exchange implements compulsory KYC, I kind of understand this direction because they're actually left with no choice. But to implement it without informing users in advance, and, worse, locking funds all of a sudden in line with the new rules, it's not just unfair; it's almost just a subtle way to steal money from customers.
1715  Economy / Economics / Re: Money hardly come this days! Why? on: March 24, 2023, 09:40:09 AM
You and I are in different situations. Although I guess the entire world right now is facing a more challenging economic situation, our circumstances differ. So I guess the answer to your question is basically yours to give.

Why do you say that money come hardly these days? Is your business' profit growing smaller and smaller each day? Or is it because you have a growing expenses like school fees for you children? Or is the company you are working with closing? Or is it harder now to look for a side hustle? As for me, the biggest problem is basically the rising prices of goods and services. That, in the face of an income that remains steady.
1716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel bad while paying with BTC? on: March 24, 2023, 09:17:15 AM
I feel you. That is also how I feel or felt every time I spend my Bitcoin. After all, we are all trying to stack as many Sats as possible. I probably won't mind if the price is somewhere near the ATH, but if the price is 60 percent down from the ATH like today, spending Bitcoin feels like it is such a waste. This is also true whenever I gamble using Bitcoin or whenever I'm forced to convert some for something urgent. The truth is that I am almost certain $100,000 will come soon, so instead of spending I'm more inclined to accumulate.
1717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun sued by SEC. Effect on Bitcoin? on: March 23, 2023, 03:28:28 AM
Justin Sun may be sued, found guilty, fined, or even jailed, Bitcoin doesn't care. Bitcoin will continue to thrive. Justin's centralized altcoin, Tron, however, will of course collapse along with him. And this will in fact benefit Bitcoin, especially in the long run. It may be a blessing in disguise.

If this happens, Justin won't be dumping his Bitcoin. That's the only thing of value that will be left of him. His centralized crypto companies will be gone together with Tron, a shitcoin as per his own admission.
1718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The future of CBDC in gambling. on: March 23, 2023, 02:32:01 AM
There's no doubt CBDCs, once implemented, will also be accepted in gambling. Because why not? In the first place, do these gambling businesses have a choice? CBDCs are the digital versions of fiat. If the government declares that a new CBDC is now in full implementation, it is automatic that commerce, all business establishments including casinos and other gambling businesses, will also start accepting it.
1719  Economy / Economics / Re: The problem with Credit Suisse and banking sector. on: March 23, 2023, 02:07:13 AM
I think the best decision right now is to wait for what will happen next because it's pretty hard to predict where the market will move next.

What are we waiting? We're just in the first quarter of the year and there are already a considerable number of small and giant banks collapsing. There was Silvergate. There was Signature Bank. There was Silicon Valley Bank. There is Credit Suisse. There's First Republic that was just rescued from an impending collapse. There is also JPMorgan buying millions of stones. LOL! There's nothing to wait. Are we waiting for the alarms to sound off? Are we waiting for the actual bank run to happen so that we'll start making withdrawals? Man, there are trillions of deposits in the banks. How much does FDIC have? A hundred billion?
1720  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any problems with *CHIPMIXER* coins? on: March 23, 2023, 01:26:54 AM
Your friend should expect the worst, so it's better not to be complacent. It's better to be safe than sorry. After all, foolishly labeling some coins as "tainted" is becoming a thing now with centralized platforms. So although I haven't heard of funds locked in relation to the seized Chipmixer, it could very well happen anytime. The immediate precedent is Tornado Cash, and there were funds frozen. So I guess avoiding centralized exchanges is a must. Erasing those coins' traces with Chipmixer is also called for.
