I missed the starting of the match and hence missed out on wagging a bet because Netherlands was not a competitive team for the South African squad and if there is no rain intervention like the first ODI, South Africa will be winning easily and this is the perfect opportunity for new players to get some experience and cement their place for the next World Cup.

As expected South Africa destroyed the Netherlands team in the first ODI. They scored only 189 runs after batting for more than 45 overs. A score below 200 in ODI is not at all competitive. In just 30 overs and after losing 2 wickets SA won the match. I am expecting the same kind of outcome in today's match too. SA has lost 2 wickets and has scored 76 runs in 15 overs.

Yesterday's match between LSG and DC was the most entertaining after CSK vs GT. I hope we can see more of such matches in IPL. As usual, KL Rahul's performance has not yet gone up and I think he will struggle in the same manner throughout this season. Mark Wood was very impressive yesterday, he took 5 wickets but the most impressive part was when he took 2 wickets back to back. I was expecting Sarfaraz Khan to show his explosive batting same goes for Prithvi Shaw but both were a big disappointment for me. Another setback was the crappy fielding by DC.
1723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 02, 2023, 09:04:39 AM
T20 is much more competitive then test and ODI. We saw Zimbabwe and Netherlands in last T20 World Cup beating teams like Pakistan and South Africa. This is something not possible in test as test is proper cricket and you can compete in test only if you have genuine cricket infrastructure. I think Bangladesh is the last country to join as a full test team since then there is no such inclusion. T20 is liked and most viewed format that's why ICC must promote this cricket in countries that are willing to join.

No doubt T20 is more engaging and aggressive than any other format of cricket. The viewership as well as the fan base is also big. Cricketers do love T20 as it is the shortest format of cricket and it also helps increases their earnings than test cricket. The only reason why still some cricket fans follow Test cricket is that it is a format of skills, fitness, and patience. Not everyone in today's generation has the patience to watch cricket for full 5 days.

Now it looks like Sri Lanka has been kicked out of the direct qualification scenario. New Zealand just need another 32 runs in 22 overs. The 5th wicket partnership between Will Young and Will Young have added 67 runs and more importantly they are scoring runs at a very brisk pace. So Sri Lanka will finish below West Indies in points table for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Now the next match is very important. Netherlands will take on South Africa at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, and the match will start in around 4 hours from now. South Africa needs to win just one out of the remaining two matches, to gain direct qualification to the 2023 ODI World Cup.

We all knew that they would be kicked out from direct qualification. You were still having hope on a hopeless team. They have literally gone from bad to worse and I still feel it won't be easy for them when they play for qualification round in the month of June. Who knows they might not even beat WI at that time.
1726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 31, 2023, 04:46:33 AM
Which countries would actually get added to the test lineup? I don't think any country is worthy of that. And I personally don't think it is going to be a good idea. I will actually be very happy if ICC absolutely forgets about the test format. They should concentrate on the T20 format more because that is the future of cricket.

I actually do not know if any new country is able to play test cricket. As I said earlier most of them are into T20 & ODI. The ICC cannot just go ahead and remove test cricket. Few countries like England, Australia and New Zealand have a good fan base of test cricket. Moreover most former and current cricketers won't allow ICC to take such a decision. This iwas the primary reason why ICC started world test championship.

8 wickets down just for 135 runs. You can't expect anything from this Srilankan side. To add to thier misery they won the toss and choose to bat first. What were they thinking? Only a miracle from Srilankan bowler can help them. Another match completely dominated by the Kiwis team. This not even the full Kiwi side and still they playing so good.

You are right this is just the amount which has been generated from those users who have used local crypto exchange. There are many who have stopped converting crypto to INR using these exchanges. I am waiting to hear & understand how the government would be going after them.

At first they would offer free service. Next they would encourage us or force us to use the service. If that doesn't work they will start the emotional game that you are helping in the development of the nation. In the end when you form a habit to use the service they start charging you for it.

Any UPI transaction of more than INR 2000 will be charged 1.1% , starting 1st of April.

They wanted to digitalize India but they never disclosed the hidden agenda. Now some of you would say it for the cost maintaining the servers. Do you think such an excuse can be given by a Bitcoin miner? Another reason why government cannot beat the Bitcoin ecosystem is that there is nothing hidden and nor the ecosystem allows you to hide.

It seems that the information was misleading and clarification has been provided by NPCI.
The 1.1% charges are applicable only to Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI wallets).
There are no such charges for the customers and merchants and it will continue to remain free to use.

You are correct NPCI came out with the clarification later on but I don't think they would provide UPI service for free for a long time. I suspect after the central election we will get to hear about it.

Bangladesh needs to face a reality check very soon. At least in test format. Otherwise, they are not going to perform better in the test format. Bangladesh seriously needs to face some serious threat from the ICC that the test status is going to be taken away. Probably after that Bangladesh will concentrate on the test format.

Test team like Bangladesh and Srilanka woul continue to play like they have been in the present without any issue. ICC won't do anything as they already have very less test playing nation. Any action against these two teams will result in the decline of viewership from the respective countries and also will not help ICC to revive this format.

I would like to see new countries getting added to the list but it seems most of them are more interested in playing the shorter format of the game as it brings more revenue to the board.
1731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 30, 2023, 09:52:48 AM
I do not understand Google's probability/prediction. Just checked the schedule for tomorrow's match against GT and CSK and found GT has 54% chance of winning the match against CSK. I know the win probability changes as the match progresses but why update it in a day advance. BTW who do you think will win the opening match of IPL?

Did anyone checked the number 7 ideology advertisement on Star sports. It seem Star sports copied the whole concept from another forum board and never gave any credit to them.

-Sri Lanka ranks 5th in the 2021-2023 WTC table ahead of New Zealand and Pakistan.
-They have drawn the home series against Australia, Pakistan and whitewashed the Windies 2-0
- Almost won the first test match against Kiwis.
- They are defending champion of the Asia cup.

What's with your obsession with past records? The days of checking the previous record and then analyzing the present is gone. It doesn't make any sense in 2023. It could have in 2019.

Srilanka for me falls under the category of unreliable, hyper enthusiastic and non professional team. This team has some of the best overconfident players.

Comparing Dimuth Karunaratne with Rohit Sharma
Please don't tell me that my comparison is unrealistic. Grin

  • The current captain of the test team Dimuth Karunaratne has played 84 test matches, scored 6000 odd runs with an average of 39.
  • The current captain of Indian test team Rohit Sharma has played 49 test matche, scored 3000 odd runs with an average of 45.

I have rounded off those numbers for better clarity. BTW, stats are from Wikipedia and ESPNcricinfo. Which captain do you think is doing better that the other in the present? I am sure you would say Rohit but don't forget he almost had lost the final berth if Srilanka had not lost the test match (which you call as an almost win Wink)
1734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 29, 2023, 11:32:24 AM

@pakhittheboss what odds are you seeing for Srilanka, because I’m expecting really good odds for them as New Zealand will obviously be the favourites and thus was thinking of taking a risk and wagering on Srilanka if the odds are decent.

Kiwis are favourite to win the last ODI. I do not think Srilankan team would be able to defeat them. Almost every kiwi batter is back in form and since it is thier homeground it is natural for bowlers to perform well.

If you still want to take that odd risk then I think you should. As in the past Srilanka did some extra ordinary bowling and batting if I keep in my mind the last Asia cup. Although the format and the ground was different still they might outperform their performance in Newzealand

Well.. let's wait until 31st March. It is still too early to make assumptions. In case Sri Lanka wins the match on Friday, then there is a small chance. Netherlands is the team that defeated England multiple times in the past, during ICC tournaments. The two matches against South Africa are their last matches in the ODI super league, and I am sure that they will put maximum effort to win these matches. And the Super League has been shelved by the ICC from next season onwards. Therefore the Dutch knows that it is now or never.

The next match between Srilanka & Newzealand will be happening in Hamilton. According to weather prediction report on Friday it will be cloudy with no rain but on Saturday it would rain. If the prediction remains then the Kiwis will be playing for a series win and Srilankan would be playing to draw the series plus getting an additional points.

The match surely would entertaining but Srilanka would be in immense pressure. If they are able to handle pressure and play exceptionally well then I am sure they will win the match. Still it won't be easy for them to directly qualify as the South African team only need to win one match against Netherland.
1740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 29, 2023, 02:10:52 AM
After the abandoned match and point deduction I feel Srilanka is pretty much out of the contention for a direct qualify and so is WI. SA would easily qualify for the world cup as they will be playing against Netherlands.

WI, Srilanka and Zimbabwe will be part of the qualifier tournament that is scheduled to happen in June. If I am correct only two teams from this qualifier would end up being part of the world cup. If you are a Srilankan fan then your team still can qualify for the cup.
