1741  Economy / Economics / Re: Marathon Invests $150 Million In Bitcoin on: January 26, 2021, 04:37:58 AM
Many big institutions are now getting into Bitcoin, they can't afford to miss the chance of buying bitcoin even on an expensive price right now and this proves to me that Bitcoin will fly more and as a small investors, I should also think positively and look forward for the peak price of Bitcoin.
This is a good news for Bitcoin because this means that the prices will be going up again as another big company are pouring in to invest in Bitcoin, at the current price point I think that they will be hodling their Bitcoin for a long time. Hopefully, other companies affiliated to Marathon will do the same and invest into Bitcoin.
They invest bitcoin like investing gold
They have to adopt as well because they see how Bitcoin works and that's a good decision that can result to a big pump on the whole market of Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is better than gold when it comes to private enterprises, Gold is for governments. This pump will spur another selling for smaller Bitcoin hodlers and I think that for awhile the prices will be balance out but we will definitely see another ATH this year.
1742  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bitcoin Help The Poor on: January 26, 2021, 03:29:01 AM
To me, Bitcoin helps the poor in a way that they are not directly involved with Bitcoin per se, it is more of a second hand thing that they are getting helped. Bitcoin helps those that have the access and opportunity, and if by a chance that those that have the opportunity to know about Bitcoin is a charitable person then in some sort of way, they Bitcoin helped those poor people. Have to agree with banking services of bitcoin, most of the people that had the opportunity to know the wonders of bitcoin does not have a prior knowledge about banks or when they have, they did not know that they are getting screwed with. The money remittance aspect is nothing different from those existing remittance centers like Western Unions, the only catch is that there is little to no middleman fee if you were to send across a continent. Empowerment can be subjective topic, some people are still oppressed in society because they still haven't reach the circle of the 1%.

1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: January 23, 2021, 08:50:36 AM
How could you say that?

There is no way that the government could rule the market or the cryptocurrencies? The number one reason is that it is decentralized and unless you are using the exchange that the government made then that means they could actually control or rule your Bitcoin, another thing is banning Bitcoin but I don't think we should even think about it.
They can't rule the market but they can rule the exchanges look at what is happening at exchanges in USA right now, everyone needs to comply with the government, messing up with government is a bad move for anyone because the government does everything at its disposal to obliterate its enemies especially individual ones, they crush them the best because they are the most helpless. Banning will not be a good thing I agree because it only makes things more difficult to control the people because they will always find a way.
1745  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockchain ideas on: January 23, 2021, 07:27:16 AM
You can work on theories and papers that are in relation to bitcoin or blockchain.

Here are some questions that you can wonder that can help you if you want to pursue economics. What is their impact in a economy that has a bitcoin its circulated economy? Will a cashless economy be a viable solution for the long term survival of a country?
1746  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake Uniswap 10,000,000 Airdrop on: January 23, 2021, 06:44:00 AM
^^ Thank you for reporting this, I try to access the website right now, and it says:

So good job in helping this community to clear the space for this crypto criminals. Again, this won't stop so we need to be very active and vigilant and to double check and not to blindly trust any websites.
Good job on you to for putting this issue on the table, if it weren't for you raising awareness, they might have scammed more people than they already have. I don't get the people that fall for this obvious trick, 40 becoming 400 is not something you will see being spouted by an honest man.
1747  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Yearn Finance fake site on: January 23, 2021, 06:04:47 AM
When a project is popular in the market, a group of scammers use the name of the project to create a fake website. They are busy coming up with new scam ideas every day. These scammers create websites in such a way that new crypto users get confused and fall prey to scammers.

So be extra careful now because lots of new fake websites are being created by scammers.
This will always hold true as long as we use the Internet, fakes will pop-up to dupe those unaware. My first encounter of this phishing websites are the ones that are created by scam call center agencies, some even use a demo of a legitimate bank to make it look like they were doing a real money transfer to the victims. Some dead giveaways that a website scams that I have noticed over the years is that they seem to not bother with making the website pleasing to the eye and grammar is the least of their worries and they even sell products that seems legit at first glance but when you take a close look, it is just a picture taken from Google Images.
1748  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Individual Investors vs Whales/Institutional Investors on: January 23, 2021, 05:29:05 AM
There are some holders who aren't institutional investors but early adopter of bitcoin. We can consider this as exception as they primarily get their share through activity. But if we consider it now. We can say that institutional investors have a major impact on market since they comprises of bulk holdings which is consists of massive group of investors.

But we can't neglect that individual players are also huge in numbers but their asset aren't balance or big, cause there are some who only hold dust to nuggets bitcoin.
Good point with considering small individual bitcoin owners, but my other question is why exclude the early individual adopters? What is unique to them because in my vocabulary they seem to be part of individual investors too.
1749  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do so many people lose their positions due to Bitcoin's decline? on: January 23, 2021, 04:44:44 AM
The FUD this time was about the double spending and it's just another false claim by those articles that were made about it. Yeah, it may have been stronger within a day or for several hours. But it didn't became stronger after its drop.
You go to check the price of bitcoin and it's been up again and it has quickly gone up again. If that's what he meant about of market structure, it doesn't have to be similar with stock market.
It is good for the traders to be fair, with the current dump and then a surge back up is a good way to earn some profit, in a way God bless for FUDs for making traders get richer with a temporary dump.
1750  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you combat your weaknesses in trading? on: January 23, 2021, 04:06:58 AM
When I see a situation where I know it's not the best for my abilities, I'm trying to stay away from trading. For example: when there is a too big gap in prices, I'm trying to stay out instead of guessing the price direction. This and other similar small steps improved my results over time a lot.
Have you tried doing the opposite though? Although it looks counterproductive, that can be a good lesson to learn, for me I find making mistakes the best way to learn in trading albeit the mistakes cost me a small fortune, I do not mind because I know that making the same mistake will not happen again. My way to combat my weakness in trading is steeling my nerve into taking the rational approach instead of a panicked and emotional one which is really difficult at first but once you become good at it, a dump will not even flinch me into panic selling.
1751  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best art for crypto trading on: January 23, 2021, 03:31:14 AM
If you have found your fortune with that strategy then that's very good for you. And for the pump and dump strategy, you can also use the indicators from coingecko and coinmarketcap about their losers and gainers.

-->https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/trending

-->https://coinmarketcap.com/gainers-losers/
OP is just sharing this to shill for the website as you can see. I do not think that OP has found fortune in trading because I believe that this kind of thing must not be shared if it were successful, the links you provided are enough for an indicator.
1752  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Individual Investors vs Whales/Institutional Investors on: January 23, 2021, 02:44:29 AM
I'll answer this simply by asking a very simple question and that is,

Who moves the market? Is it,
a) Individual investors or
b) Whales/Institutional investors

It might interest you to know that both of them invest in the same market and play roles in trying to direct or take advantage of the market and profit from themselves. In essence, they are all or partly in the market at every point but one always emerges stronger. Which ever group does can be said to have more BTC and as such, influence on the market.
So it is a 50/50 almost split when it comes to movements in the market, if I get what you are saying. But wouldn't the masses influence the market more because they can help in circulating the coin in the economy unlike whales and institutional investors that are only a few.
This is an absurd comparison. Whales and institutional investors obviously hold more bitcoin in combination. Just look at the purchase that Microstrategy did just like the dip.
I doubt an individual can purchase that amount unless that individual is in the tier of Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, and other prominent investors that we know.
Ok
1753  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitfexoen Pro: Potential Scam? on: January 22, 2021, 06:35:33 AM
You just got scammed using a Social Engineering tactic. If you already invested in it, then your money is as good as gone. Also, that girl is not really a girl because as far as I know, identity theft is still a prevalent issue on the Internet. Their website is down and I think that there are a lot of people or a lot of money that got scammed by this person because as you have said that you invested 9k. I hope that you will report it to a cyber crimes division in your country because having more complainants on this kinds of case will spur authorities into action on proactively chasing down this scammers. Hope that this will be the last time that you are going to get duped by any kind of scam.
1754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think that a new ATH is coming or a crash? on: January 22, 2021, 05:47:28 AM
We have been in 30l level for more that 3 weeks when you created this thread .
Because the value of Bitcoin recovers from the fall to 30,000$?
So what about now that Bitcoin finally fell down 28,000$ again after stating more weeks on 30k and everyone is eying about the 50,000$ breaking.
The market has gone down for around 11% according to an article mostly caused by sell off in US and Europe. I hope that 50k will be reached at this point because this seems to be a different case, with more coin supply available to buy, I think that we will be seeing another surge even though there is a looming bear around the block.
1755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Individual Investors vs Whales/Institutional Investors on: January 22, 2021, 05:01:50 AM
Who holds more bitcoin combined? Individual investors because of their sheer number or whales/II's because of the amount that they own and can buy.
1756  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Reporting HiTBTC and Bequant to authorities for their scams and frauds on: January 21, 2021, 08:15:51 AM
I've seen hitbtc main account on here also received few negative trust from DT member, and most of people also aware to not save or deposit on hitbtc since it has lot of problem unresolved. Better to avoid them and with that, no more trading volume on that exchange again
If the account has already received a negative trust, how come they are still operating with all the possible reference to this website. OP is pretty serious about taking down this website which is a good initiative for others to follow, most scam reports here are only for raising awareness but this is another level and a far better option to thwart this scammers.
1757  Other / Politics & Society / Re: FREE SPEECH - Bitcointalk vs Twitter et al? Better? The same? Worse? on: January 21, 2021, 07:31:38 AM
Although I am a supporter of the free speech, the last thing I want is people supporting radical political views to land here and post about mad conspiracy theories and threats. This forum has survived for 11 years, and it will be a great tragedy if the authorities would shut us down for some crazy posts by a few lunatics. So let's stick to cryptocurrency discussions and leave the fight for free speech to someone else.
Radical political views will only proliferate if we let it be, think of this views as a cancer and society is the body, we can cure it at early stages by completely eradicating it while it is still a small movement but if we let it go unnoticed for some time, we will reach terminal case and we will never be able to fight back from it. Free speech does not mean that you or anyone who supports it lets other people get their radical stuff get broadcasted to other people, we can use the same freedom that they are using to destroy and try to impose some logic in their rotten and flawed political views. I do not think that shutting down this forum just cause some radical schmuck are posting illogical stuff in the P&S board will be the best course for authorities, shutting down will defeat the purpose of free speech, the board is Politics and Society after all so why not let intellectuals school the idiots, instead of destroying their nest which will make them migrate to other platforms in which they will spread their illogical views, why not change their radical views here.
1758  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitpay introduced mandatory identification wtf on: January 21, 2021, 06:47:49 AM
Bitpay is located in Atlanta Georgia in the USA. They are just complying with FINCEN and other US government regulations. Soon there will be no anonymity for crypto users. Least not if you want to make trades in the USA.
Too bad that Bitpay can't do anything about this regulations but to follow through. Hopefully this kind of shenanigans will only be exclusive to USA because I am not yet ready to get my privacy invaded and my identity get sold as a big data for advertising companies to bombard me with ads. I feel bad that Bitpay are getting the heat when in reality it is the US government that are the one responsible for this kind of thing.
1759  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Got Hacked From My Wallet on: January 21, 2021, 05:33:49 AM
Unfortunately, Blockchain wallet is an insecure wallet, this is a web wallet and therefore you do not have the phrase "seed" or "private key" in the first place, you only have the username and password and this can be easily hacked especially if you do not activate two-factor authentication, it is also possible that your email has been hacked So that they can access your account.
I am still wondering why they are still in the business when clearly this is the websites fault. 2FA can still be bypassed as far as I know, one way that I know of and AFAIK is the most popular is impersonating the person to try to get the system remove the 2FA and have an easy access without the hassle of sending an authentication from the real owner. If you want to protect your emails from getting hacked then try to go to some websites that checks whether your email has been breached or already available for the public to use. To the OP, I feel sorry for you but you have some fault in the matter too, and it is that you have trusted your coins to a web wallet.
1760  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hashnest feedback, good service? on: January 21, 2021, 04:57:40 AM
They are not scammers, but it is not a good opportunity to make profits as you calculate them, they change the price of their prices according to the change of the price of bitcoin (TH/s That would mine,) which means that you will be the loser in the short term.
I haven't heard of this kind of services, you pay miners to mine for you, sounds like a corporate mining stuff to me. My question regarding your reply is if you were to go for a long term, will you be able to break even or profit from it? I do not have that much knowledge about mining so if you can clarify that would be good.
