Devon Conway (78) unfortunately couldn't keep up with leading the batting effort as de Silve managed to take his wickets. After winning the toss SL choose to bowl first today, and they've already managed two crucial wickets. I must say, Sri Lanka has been putting on quite a good performance so far. The last match was impressive as well, so I'm hoping for an equally exciting game this time around. Sri Lankan bowler's really need to maintain consistency in their bowling, just as they did in the first test, in order to keep up their success.
This is bad news for the Kiwis. I was expecting him to stay till the end of today. Although he gave a good start I am not sure whether Kiwis team would be able to utilize this advantage.

Srilankan bowlers are not allowing the Kiwi batters to form a partnership. This is crucial as it will help Srilanka in the later part of the game today. I any case NZ would be looking for 300+ runs on day 1.

The second & final test match between Srilanka and Newzealand has started. Srilanka won the toss and choose to bowl first. At the moment the Kiwi batter has scored 87 runs and has not lost any wickets. Devon Convoy is looking pretty aggressive. He has already scored his half-century with a strike rate of more than 70. If he continues to play in the same manner then I assume he will score his century before the end of day 1.

Devon Conway is batting brilliantly. Now he is unbeaten with 73 runs. Conway scored 73 runs off 94 balls. He is batting at 77 strike rate. Tom Latham scored 21 runs. He collected 21 runs off 73 balls. The strike rate is only 28. New Zealand's opening pair started their innings brilliantly. And if the rest of the team's batsmen can maintain this consistency, New Zealand will score at least 400 runs in their first innings. And I guess New Zealand will win the second test like the first match.
It is too early to predict which team will win as it is only day 1. At the moment the Kiwis are in better position than the Srilankan. Unless they get out Devon Conway they would not be able to stop them from scoring a good pile of runs. All Kane Williamson has to do is to rotate the strike and let Conway face the Srilankan bowlers.

I agree that the boorish behavior from the fans have become rare. Not sure whether it is due to fans becoming more mature, or because the Indian police becoming more competent in arresting the culprits. Anyway, we can't blame the fans solely. After all, some of the senior players do behave like monkeys on and off the field. At least some of the fans may get influenced by them. And I am not sure whether the IPL teams have a large fanbase. In India, fandom is mostly based on the player. Some (like Kohli and Rohit) have fans all over India, while some others (including Samson) have fan bases concentrated in certain geographies.

Fans still boo but the place for doing such activities has changed for example sports bars/pubs, clubs and the stadium. We do not hear such noises because broadcasters have been intelligent enough to increase the volume of the stump mic in such a situation. A lot has changed after IPL now fans are more aggressive with franchise team than the national team. One thing I would agree with is that the violence that we used to see earlier against players has now become zero. That does not mean Indians have become tolerant. That means the security cover has improved. Recently Parthiv Patel was in the news because he declined a selfie request from a female fan. He does not have any security from the BCCI or the state government as he is not part of the national team and is also not as big as other players.

After the retirement of West Indies' star players, the overall condition of their team has weakened. The West Indies team can now be considered weak. I would even say that West Indies will lose the series against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Because there are very few experienced players in their squad at the moment. They will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches against South Africa in this series. And I guess West Indies will lose both series. Despite a good performance in the T20 format, West Indies' chances of winning against South Africa in the ODI format are very slim.

Looks like this match might get abandoned due to rain. Anyways I am not expecting WI to win this ODI. This team has gone from bad to worst and each player looks more like an ameature than a pro in that team. They already got destroyed in the test and most probably the same would happen in the ODI too.

I am eagerly waiting for the ODI series between India and Australia. The first match would be played tomorrow between these two teams at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. After losing the test series Australia would be going all guns blazing to win the ODI series. It would be a practice run for Australia before the upcoming ODIWC. England has already shown the struggle their batters had against the spinners on subcontinent pitches. The same kind of problem was faced by Australia too. It would be interesting to see what new strategy they would use against the Indian spin attack in ODI.

What Bangladesh cricket team has shown to the world this time is really surprising. By winning three consecutive matches against England, they have shown that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has become very strong indeed. It is surprising to hear that a team like England has been whitewashed by Bangladesh. In the beginning, they thought that they can beat Bangladesh very easily, but Bangladesh whitewashed them by destroying all their hopes. Congratulations to Bangladesh Cricket Team.
Absolutely it is really surprising to see Bangladesh comfortably winning the series against England. It also proves that the English batters are not able to handle spinners. This is not a good sign considering the ODI world cup will be played in the subcontinent. I feel most south Asian countries would outperform SENA teams in the upcoming ICC tournament.
1789  Local / India / Re: What topic would encourage Indian board Merit source to get activated? on: March 14, 2023, 04:34:39 PM
The problem with our local board is
1. Less Audience of Active Indians. Accept it or not we have pretty less number of active Indians on the forum who post atleast 10 posts in a week. With less than 15 members of one country i Don't expect this board to flourish.

2. Lack of local discussions on bitcoin. Honestly there aren't a lot of points of discussion on local issues that can keep the board going. Other boards have separate languages so they flourish because people feel easier to communicate in their own language. For us English is infact the most convenient language and we have those discussions easily in common boards.

And moreover even Pakistani boards or Bangladeshi boards will suffer the same end. Bangladeshi might even sustain due to Local Bengali Dialect. Otherwise the low number of users will eventually make local boards less used.
There is zero problem with our board. You commented and others are commenting or trying to create topic relevant to this board. In my opinion it is enough!

The big issue with Indians is that they get an opportunity and then they blow it. For me if I see five guys participating without any raffle or offers on this board. I would support each one of them.

My opinion for support is to encourage them with Merits and in turn they would come up with topics. That is all that matters to me. I am least bothered to think about language issue or anything. English is the most common language in India after Hindi.

There is nothing like a language barrier. If you are not good in English then use Hinglish. The only issue is that we don't have any leader to guide this board. Those who were chosen have left it and now it all depends on us how to get it functional.

I had no idea that you can find gift coupon for everything on Betrifill. I saw they are even selling coupons for Hindustan Petroleum. I am not sure whether you can use them to purchase petrol or disel or gas. At the moment it is out of stock.

The only thing now left is to find a prepaid debit card that can be refilled using crypto and can be used in India.

Feels bad about Smriti Mandhana. Somehow she ended up in this shitty team (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and now they have 5 losses in 5 matches played so far. I won't be surprised if RCB ends up this season without a win. BTW, Smriti was out of touch yesterday. She wasted a lot of balls before getting out to a single digit score. In the end, it was left to Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh to step up scoring. BTW, it was good to see Tara Norris making an impact in the WPL, since she is the sole representative of the associate nations. For RCB, Renuka Singh failed once again yesterday. This is a horrible season for her.

Mandana has been out of form from the beginning of T20WC. Being out of form is just a phase and I am sure she will come out of it but her ability to captain a team is pathetic. I am pretty sure RCB would find a replacement in the next season. 5 straight losses only tells how bad RCB has played in WPL. On paper this team looked far better than what they are performing which drills down to the leader of this team.

I am still not sure about Bharat as he has only played 4 international test matches up till now. I think more exposure to international cricket would certainly help him in future games.

I am also in favor of giving more chances to Bharat. Obviously Sanju Samson fans are not going to be happy, as they believe that their player is the sole heir to the throne of Indian keeper. During one of the matches held in Kerala, his fans booed Kohli since Samson was not included in the playing XI. I am actually surprised. He was given far more chances than any of the younger players, and still wasted all of those chances. I would prefer Bharat over Samson at any day of the year. If Bharat is unable to perform, then the other younger players like Anuj Rawat should be considered for selection.

Lol! Even Shashi Tharoor supported him when he was not selected in playing 11. Too many opportunities were given to him but he literally blew them all out. I do not understand what he thinks about himself? I never liked his attitude and I also never felt he plays for team. He is one selfish players who always will think about himself before the team. This is the primary reason why he is not getting selected.

Don't forget that In England they use Duke balls and Australia's kookaburra ball is a lot similar to duke ones in seaming-bouncy conditions when compared to the SG ball, which India uses.

It's true that the Oval is a bit flat in comparison to other grounds in England but overcast conditions can change the odds quickly in Aus's favor, it happens regularly when playing in England. The Indian team will miss Bumrah and Pant again.

Agreed on Bumrah and Pant. Bumrah is the best Indian pacer by a distance and he can be lethal in overseas conditions. Somehow he hasn't managed to resolve his recurring injury issue and it may be impossible for him to play on a regular basis. A few days back he underwent back surgery in New Zealand. According to his manager, he should be ready to bowl in nets by August this year and may take part in the ODI World Cup (timeline looks a bit optimistic, if you ask me). His last match was on 25th September last year, against Australia.

Regarding Pant, it may take even longer time for him to be back on action when compared to Bumrah. As per the doctors, he has suffered significant damage in his knee ligaments and won't be back in action before beginning of 2024. And his replacement (Srikar Bharat) has so far done a poor job, both with the bat with the gloves.

Forget about both Panth & Bhumrah. These won't be part of the Indian team for quite sometime now. I think the amount of time these two players need to heal themselves would let others take thier position on the team. Unless BCCI doesn't find a good replacement of these two, which is highly unlikely I think thier career are over for now. Please do not forget BCCI has one of the biggest talent pool. All of those talents are waiting to just get one opportunity.

I am still not sure about Bharat as he has only played 4 international test matches up till now. I think more exposure to international cricket would certainly help him in future games.

India qualifies for WTC 2023 finals

No matter what is the outcome of the final test match in the BGT the good news is the India will be playing the finals against Australia in the WTC23 that will be played from June 7th - 11th at the Kensington Oval. This is a great news for Indian fans like me and proud moment for India. You can find the details below.

Just In.

Pakistani team not going to India for ICC ODI world cup later this year. According to local news source Geo, Government of Pakistan has refused to issue NOC to Pakistan Cricket team due to there security and safety concerns in India.

The decision is in reply to India refusal to come to Pakistan for Asia Cup. Pakistan has already qualified for ODI world cup and there absence will give chance to one more team from qualifiers to Participate in worldcup.

Unless there is an official statement from PCB on this situation and I won't believe this news. I did check the Twitter handle of PCB and found out they are busy with women PSL. I hope they are able to organize this league this year. If Pakistan does not play an ICC tournament then they would lose out on the million-dollar kitty that they get every year from ICC. I do not think under the present economic scenario they would be able to forgo an ICC event. Asia cup is not an ICC event it is organized and financed by the Asian cricket council.

I never expected the Bangladesh team to dominate this bilateral T20 series against the world's number one. Bangladesh bowlers & batters have completely crushed the English side. I suppose they would now look for a complete whitewash in this series. Neither English batters nor bowlers have been successful. In yesterday's match, a target of 117 runs from the English side was always easy for Bangladesh to chase. I also feel to a large extent the home ground advantage has also worked for the Bangladesh side.
1797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: March 13, 2023, 04:02:53 AM

Looking at the point table I feel there is zero competition against MI in this first season of WPL. RCB as usual is again at the bottom. The name itself is jinxed in my opinion as both men's & women's teams of RCB have never been on the top. DC looks good and they might be the only team to challenge MI. Only 18 more days left for this season to end and one thing is clear Harmanpreeth Singh has proven that she is one the best captain in women's cricket.

SVB customer base and value is not as big as the true institutional banks. so its cheap to use the FDIC instead of a "bail out"

I am surprised that you think SVB is not a big institutional bank. I found out it had $209 billion in assets & ranked as top 20 big banks in the US. The repercussion of it might not come out so soon but it would certainly hit the already struggling US economy and would hugely impact the startup environment in the US & globally. I feel SVB fall might become a blessing in disguise for Bitcoin in the US.  I am pretty much sure that we will hear many more names in the coming month.

At the moment it seems that this test match might end up as draw unless Indian bowlers are able to do something different. I still believe Ashwin has the ability to quickly change the course of this match. I am hoping he does it and makes this dull test match more engaging. The lead of just 91 runs is not that much but anything can happen today.
1800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 12, 2023, 11:15:18 AM
What a come back by Virat Kohli! After November of 2019 today he scored his 28th test century. At one point I was hoping for him to get his double but 183 is still a good score. This pitch was meant for batters like Shubhman Gill, Virat Kohli and Axar Patel.

One thing now I am sure KL Rahul will miss playing test cricket as the new test opener with Rohit will be Shubman Gill. I was expecting a decent lead of 150+ runs by the Indian side. 91 runs lead is just a cake walk for Australian batters. Now everything depends on the Indian bowlers.
