Given the other sites I've seen, this rate is right on the average.
1783  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [WTS] Bitcoins - Yes, you can buy Bitcoins with Paypal! on: May 27, 2012, 05:11:54 AM
To everyone out there who wants to buy BTC using PayPal, follow this 2 step tutorial:

1. Withdraw your PayPal balance to your bank account
2. Wire it to your favourite exchange.

Thats the only way Smiley

Yea but that only works if you don't mind PayPal chasing you your whole life.
1784  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [WTS] Bitcoins - Yes, you can buy Bitcoins with Paypal! on: May 27, 2012, 04:18:47 AM
Then most likely you'll take the bitcoins for free as everyone has discussed. But I have ways of screening out people who will try to scam me on eBay.

I have (had) a top-rated eBay powerseller account with over 2000 feedback (at 100%) and was a top seller in my country. If I bought your Bitcoins, I'm assuming I would pass your screening? Whats stopping me from then claiming not as described (other than the fact I'm not going to scam a fellow bitcoiner). I know for a fact there are people out their with similar eBay reps that aren't as honest as me and if they knew what Bitcoins were they would be milking you dry.

Has PayPal actually come out themselves saying Bitcoins is against the ToS? Because if so, I'd expect eBay blocking the word Bitcoin from any auction description which they have not.

Not officially, but PayPal/eBay still have the right to refuse any buyers/sellers they like and have frozen many Bitcoin sellers & buyers and told them the reason for the account freeze was because they were selling Bitcoins. (coinpal is the first that comes to mind).

Its not worth it, everybody who has done it before has been burned badly.

Yes. I'm aware of what happened with CoinPal.

And I'm going to send you a private message regarding your other question.
1785  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [WTS] Bitcoins - Yes, you can buy Bitcoins with Paypal! on: May 26, 2012, 11:15:14 PM
I'm feeling ready to jump into the eBay market myself.

I have plenty of virtual transaction experience and dealing with chargebacks (Not dealing with them directly but avoiding them.) What's the best way to sell these? From reading the posts selling a bitcoin by itself is not a good idea? Adding a paperclip is also not a good idea. But selling it with a DVD is acceptable? I'm basically just looking at advice to keep my account in good standing and not about chargebacks. I'm well aware of them and have read all the stories.

So you're saying sell a DVD with free Bitcoins?

What happens when I say the DVD doesn't work, return it but never return the Bitcoins?

Also selling Bitcoins is against PayPal's TOS anyways.

1787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin advertising on the World Poker Tour! on: May 03, 2012, 05:11:30 AM
Not to put a damper on this, but I used to play poker as my main income for 2.5 years. I've never heard of Moon Kim, and it looks like he just got lucky on one tournament:

http://www.pokernews.com/news/2012/03/moon-kim-wins-2012-world-poker-tour-bay-101-shooting-star-12204.htm

If you look at the hand histories, he binked favourable cards to put him in the lead when he was behind. Like the hand where he had 44 was badly played (chasing a one card open ended) unless there was some meta game going on (which is unlikely for an amateur). So he's unlikely to get far in this event - these events usually have loads of people (especially the WPT which is a mega crowd drawer) and only the final few tables are televised.

Kim went all in with Pocket 4s preflop. He wasn't chasing anything. Unless you're referring to a different hand in the article which I didn't see.
1788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eliminating Captcha's w/ Bitcoin on: April 23, 2012, 09:21:15 PM
If you can figure out how to sell captcha solutions of 95% accuracy rate on recaptcha for less than USD $1.35 (about 0.25 BTC at todays price) per 1000 solutions, then you will have found a business model.

interesting ....never occurred to me  sounds like you know a lot about this ?

Indeed. We're currently spending about $600 a week on bulk captcha solutions from imagetyperz and get their best pricing, but I think there is still room for improvement as the service is paid by paypal or credit card. I also believe they are just reselling some foreign labor using some kind of data entry platform, and that probably involves more fees to get the payments to the individual workers who end up typing these things. Now I have no idea what country or language the actual workers who type the captcha solutions are in, but they are there doing it reliably 24/7 and I'm thinking that there must be ways to connect those workers with the $$$ being paid for the bulk services without the middle men or fees, and the end result should be the most cost competitive captcha solving service out there. Having such a service only available for Bitcoin but at a clearly better pricing will encourage the whole black-hat-seo industry to think about getting into Bitcoin simply as a matter of operational cost savings.

I had no idea about this stuff. So your basically saying there are services that have human beings breaking captcha's and people pay for them ? lol

Scalpers trying to buy up everything on Ticketmaster.com the moment tickets are released

Hmmmm good point ^^ never thought about it like that.

If you're willing to send 10,000 BTC to them and let them convert it all to $50,000 cash, then I don't see why they wouldn't accept. There could definitely be problems mid-transaction but if done in a way that's 0 risk to them then every company would jump on board.

You may consider splitting it into 10 transactions of 1000BTC

How will you deal with merchant and buyer disputes? Especially buyers who are hacked on merchant's websites?

1795  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Can I buy other cryptocurrencies here with BTC? on: August 26, 2011, 09:55:40 AM
I know about exchanges, but I'm looking to buy with PayPal.

There are people on #bitcoin-otc marketplace who will accept paypal from trusted sources.

Perhaps a first purchase using something like a MoneyPak will help you to build trust, and then PayPal could be used later.

Bitcoin is a prohibited purchase in PayPal's user agreement  so it is probably best to avoid them entirely.

#bitcoin-otc is a complete waste of time to me. Everytime I say anything I'm ignored or people just chat. It's a horrible venue for a marketplace.

Oh... I have more reputation than probably 90% of the members here so finding people to accept PayPal isn't a problem. The i0coin forum is completely dead.

It's very difficult to prove the PayPal was used for BTC unless it's mentioned in the transaction itself.
1796  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying i0coin with BTC on: August 25, 2011, 11:55:31 PM
Please feel free to move or delete this thread. I didn't know if this was allowed.

I'm buying i0coins with BTC or PayPal. Currently buying up to 20,000 i0coins.

You trade first unless your rep is higher than mine.

Thanks!

I'd like to get my hands on some other cryptocurrencies. Is that ok? If yes, where should I post? In the marketplace under Currency exchange or Goods or offtopic?

Thanks.

I got burned using pp a few weeks back never using them again for sales of btc

What if a 100% trustworthy person wanted to buy? Then you would sell. You need to gauge the trust of who you sell to when using PayPal. If you don't, you will get scammed.
