1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 26, 2014, 09:53:30 PM
Apart from the odd stash sell off no one is selling their coins in substantial chunks - we are going up from here I think. Despite my anger towards the market manipulator earlier I managed to make 5000 BC of it so I guess we both won in the end haha

It seems like you made the wrong move earlier today but you corrected it afterwards with a very good move  Wink

Anyway, only time will tell. These things will happen again and again and again ...

Perhaps, although it does now appear to have been the right one! haha I'm sure it will -but we have started an upward trend now, the dumps will end at higher and higher price levels and the pumps will hit higher and higher. Probably hit 8000 within 6 hours, maybe 8200 stabilised in 12. I think whoever it was who was manipulating the market had two aims: 1. To buy up as many BC as he could from us as cheaply as he could 2. To see just how low he could dump the price before buy support kicked in good and proper - In reality while many lost coins to him (myself not one of them thankfully) he has set a new floor in what we could probably call 'worst case' conditions (a massive panic with Cryptorush centred around BC, along with a massive market manipulator dumping the price lower and lower) - as we are unlikely to see such bad news/publicity for a while and the new floor has been set it is likely we will be on the rise once more.

Tell the upward trend to wait. I'm still buying.  Undecided

with an interest rate algorithm designed to keep prices (roughly) constant would be very appealing.

I know. I probably shouldn't have said it in this forum, because someone else will do it and become insanely wealthy from it. Hopefully they won't do it stupidly and ruin the idea (anyone who wants to do this should email me first, and build some sims ...has anyone ever built a sim before launching one of these coins??? I do it before launching every new card game or slot machine). For the time being though, BC is as good as it gets from a fundamental perspective; and even if such a coin appeared tomorrow, BC would be a great alternative/carry instrument for it, so they would be complimentary.

Sorry. I'm not following this concept of "adjusted inflation rate".

Also I've heard more people play the lotto when economy is down so that makes sense about gambling. Desperate times means desperate people looking to win big.

Edit: imo alot of people don't like the idea of billions and billions of coins
I believe this is more a matter of distribution. More coins means more potential for widespread adoption. I mean, if there are 100 000 people on the altcoin scene, that's the maximum. Compare with 7 billions (soon 9) inhabitant on this planet.

I agree with this fully, would I rather have a high value, low total number coin in the hands of a few, or a lower valued, high total number coin in the hands of the masses? I use the analogy of the American Gold Eagle coin versus the American dollar as my point. Which is used as the everyday currency? That's because it's in the hands of everybody and if the masses were to have a coin in their hands, this be the incentive for retailers, service providers and even workers to be paid in a digital currency. I was a BC miner and am still a BC holder and mining on the BlackCoin Pool beta, but my home coin is Nutcoin, and right now we are still very much in a distribution phase of the coin, it's been out for just under 3 months now and thankfully we've been flying low which is allowing for easy mining and a wider distribution of the coin before the whales take notice and try to grind it into the dirt. The wider the distribution of the coin, the harder it will be to manipulate the price and for the big holders to manufacture pump and dumps like we've been seeing with BC these past few days so the big boys can buy the coins the panic sellers are dumping at the bottom of the dumps at bargain prices. Hold your coins.

What the hell is Nutcoin?

What is the difference? in one point i'm gonna exchange them, just not now.
Man you living under a Rock??
Get them on your Wallet asap!!

Less chance of losing it in an exchange and you can stake if it's in your wallet.

Mint is still a great coin with a good base but Mint is inferior to Black in every way.

In what ways is Blackcoin superior to Mintcoin?  I promise that I won't argue with you.  I sincerely want to know your opinion.

way to many coins for mintcoin to ever gain some real value  (several hundred sats) , imo blackcoin has it just right

1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / IRS mining and Staking on: March 26, 2014, 03:10:51 AM
From the IRS article

Q-8: Does a taxpayer who "mines" virtual currency (for example, uses computer resources to validate Bitcoin transactions and maintain the public Bitcoin transaction ledger) realize gross income upon receipt of the virtual currency resulting from those activities?

A-8: Yes, when a taxpayer successfully "mines" virtual currency, the fair market value of the virtual currency as of the date of receipt is includible in gross income. See Publication 525, Taxable and Nontaxable Income, for more information on taxable income.

Now Blackcoin stakes like every 2 hours. Is staking considered mining? How the hell is this supposed to be calculated? This is the most ridiculous clarification ever as it applies to receiving coins rather than selling.

If they dump we can buy low and sell high.  Grin

Not me. Selling now is selling low. Besides I like to see the Mining icon come up with $$$$ *ka-ching* *ka-ching* for someone who has never mined before, this is a blast Cheesy

Dump, dump, dumpity dump! I said dump, dump, dumpity dump!

Trying to buy some cheap BC.  Undecided

Missed it yesterday. Asleep!

ah yeah wish I would not have missed this afternoon dump at 5983 satoshi :/

I didn't figure out that I wanted more until an hour ago. Actually I was looking for the 7000-7500 range, but 7800 I cannot do.  Cheesy

7800 sats will seem cheap in a week.

Yes, that's what I figure too. But I don't want to discourage dumpers from doing their own thing.

Hey guys.

Someone in this thread asked for copycoins of blackcoin. There comes faircoin into my mind. Pretty similiar with a very good distribution of coins among the community - even better than that of blackcoin because there was no initial mining. It's at some 100 satoshi right now...

Thanks will look into it.

I've love to, but online gambling is illegal in my US state. And as ridiculous as it would apply to altcoins, I still obey the law.  Undecided
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *21 Exchanges *26 Merchants on: March 25, 2014, 10:27:14 PM
I'm using Mintcoin-qt  1.4.0.0 and I have a few coins that have sat for 25 days now and they got a big pile of mint (~1.12%) on day 20 and have since stopped minting at all. I've opened it about once every other day and it is unencrypted and synced.

What is the deal with it? Do I need a new wallet? If so how do i move them into a new upgraded wallet without resetting my 20 days?

If all those coins went to stake on day 20 and minted coins, they will have to regain their coinage- so you won't be able to mint on them until another 20 days, right? This is how I thought it works, anyways, somebody please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I would recommend upgrading to the new wallet.

So I only need to open my wallet every 20 days?

If you were like me and had staggered deposits then coins will reach coinage at different times, so I usually open mine once a day or so.

Couldn't that be programmed in the wallet? Automatically open when it's been 20 days based on coin values and then close? Seems like an obvious feature or don't even have to open wallet and have the procedure run automatically... or something.  Undecided

Just to be sure I know what I'm doing: I did a test transfer of 1 blackcoin from mintpal to the blackcoin-qt from http://www.blackcoin.co. When I open the program I see the balance of the wallet on the left and recent transactions on the right. Is that it? If I transfer my remaining balance they will just sit there? And it's secure?

What about the two features "encrypt wallet" and "backup wallet"? What do those do?

Thanks again.

If you don't encrypt you wallet everyone with access to your computer can open your wallet and spend your coins.

If you don't backup your wallet your coins are lost if your hard disc drive is broken or if you can not access the wallet.dat for some other reason anymore.

If you add a password to your wallet, you should make sure a trusted individual or instructions hidden safely so someone can access your BC if anything were to happen to you.
1237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin Profile site? on: March 25, 2014, 09:11:43 PM
Is there a website that automatically spotlights new altcoins that have potential?

I would have loved to hear about NXT, Blackcoin, Mintcoin, Auroracoin, Spaincoin when the discussions begin, but don't have time read Altcoin forum trying to figure out what's new and garbage.

Fun things you can do with Blackcoin:
http://coinmarketcap.com/

74,488,813 BC is total coin count - Make sure your total % of coins is an exact %. For example 0.1% is 74,488.

Now look at market cap of: $ 3,191,477 and say 0.1% of that is mine and you can easily calculate your value. $3191 is what you would have now. Cheesy

http://maarx.nl/maarx.nl/blackcoin/distribution/

Top 3 addresses now have 57 million BC which is 76.5% of all BC if this chart is accurate.
Most likely those are exchanges which is a good thing because that means those BC are being redistributed. This also means that people would rather have instant access to BC on the exchange rather then collect 1%.

Since exchanges are getting the 1% is it even fair that they charge any fees for BC? haha  Wink
